It's our second straight rivalry game night here on 700 ESPN 105. 3 FM is tonight. It's the Ferris Saxons taking on the Lewis and Clark Tigers for possession of Chuck the Rubber Chicken. This is the longest rivalry game in Spokane. It started in 1983 and LC had won three straight rubber chickens until Ferris won it last year.

And so Ferris has possession of Chuck and they've got a Christmas theme. They want to keep Chuck home for Christmas. That's kind of what they do today. And Lewis and Clark, their theme tonight is country theme, country roads to bring Chuck home. But they've got rodeo references all over the place, wanted signs, etc.

And so it's a country theme for LC against a Christmas theme tonight for Ferris and two teams that come into this game as injured teams. You kind of wonder what these teams would be like if they held all their players. For Ferris they're missing two time GSL all league player Kayla Jones. She was a first time player, first team player I should say last year, second team player two years ago. And for LC they're without two starters from last year and another player that was a key reserve for them in Kayla Vu and Lindsey Zimmerman as starters and then Acacia Felix as a sub from last year.

And so they're missing three key players from last year, Ferris is missing one. But neither of these teams, Paul is playing badly at this point in time. LC is at 3 and 4, Ferris is at 2 and 4. But you wonder what they might have been had they been at full strength. Well, and that's the thing that's tough, especially in high school with injuries because you just don't have the depth, you know that you do when you move up to the next level and when you have three players that you know, Felix was a senior, you know, she didn't get a lot of time but she was a good leader.

And Vu and Zimmerman were outstanding players as well, but they were a little bit younger. And then losing Kayla Jones, you know, for Ferris, take an all league player out of the mix, that hurts. And I don't care who you are, you don't replace all league players with somebody that hasn't been there. So this is going to be a battle of will. And this is the 42nd rubber chicken which is kind of cool and started back in the early 80s and there's some great history behind that.

But this is going to be an exciting night here at the arena. Ferris won their last game. They defeated U High 41 to 40. That snapped a three game losing streak. And so they come in with a 2 and 4 record, LC at 3 and 4.

They won their first game, lost three, then one two in a row before losing to Ridgeline in their last game by the score of 55 to 40. So Lewis and Clark 3 and 4 versus Ferris 2 and 4 on the season coming into play tonight. 2, 4, 8 teams doing battle here this evening. North Central was played last night so I don't know whether they've made a change there.

But it's on the schedule tonight. North Central at East Valley, which would be a 28 counting game, both girls and boys playing there and what should be a whale of a game tonight Gonzaga Prep is playing at Clarkston in girls basketball here this evening. Those teams are not playing boys games tonight. And then in wrestling tonight, Pullman is at North Central. Most of the wrestling action happened last night in in the gsl.

If you look at the league standings at this point in time and in 3A, 4A, none of these, this is all non league action. This game is non league tonight and the league games won't start until after the new year. And our league standings are brought to you by Lodestone Wealth Management. Gonzaga Prep is at 3 1, Ridgelines 4 and 2. Cheney and UHI are both 3 and 2, LC at 3 and 4, Ferris is 2 and 4, Mt. Spokane. Shadow park also both 2 and 4 and Meade is 02 on the season. On the boys side, Gonzaga Prep is 4 and 1, Mead 3 and 2, Seavey 3 and 3, Ferris 3 and 3.

Mount Spokane also at 3 and 3, Schadel at 2 and 4, Ridgeline at 1 and 3, Cheney 1 and 4, LC 1 and 6 and U High 0 and 4 going into play here this evening. Again, those are not conference standings. Those are non conference standings. So once you get to the second half of the season, that's when the league games will kick in and that's when the conference standings start to really count. Then at that point in time.

So far, without their leading scorer from last year and an all league player in Kayla Jones who's kind of filling in her shoes as far as scoring goes, well, Matthias Eschenbacher is the person that's been doing that this year. She's scoring in double figures. She's the only Saxon to be scoring in double figures this year. But as of late, juju Lewis, Julianna Lewis has been stepping in and helping out as a double figure scorer. She's been double figures in each of the last two games for Ferris as she got 11 points against Inglemore in the loss and then 14 in their win over U High.

In fact, Eschenbacher and Lewis combined for 32 of the 41 points Ferris scored in their last ball game that win against U High. For lc without some starters, they basically are a five person team as far as players who are scoring for them. They have a returning all conference player in Sadie Pierce. She was the second team off conference player last year and Pierce has been right up there along with Ruby Shaw as the leading scorers this year. But they've also got Olivia Baird who's had some big games offensively as well.

For this team. Those three players are the main scoring punch for LC here this evening. We'll see if some other players can step up and help them out here this evening. Well, from Ferris had a nice chat with head coach Courtney Gray. They want to play intense, physical basketball. They need to push the ball, Larry, and get second chance points, which means they have to do a good job of rebounding and they feel they can do that. But they've got to be able to hit some shots and limit Lewis and Clark in terms of what they do. LC on the other side basically has to overcome those injuries and they've got to figure out a way to keep those five working together well and, you know, survive what Ferris is going to try to do with pressure and rebounding and those kinds of things.

It's her first and it's the first team foul against Ferris here in the first quarter of play. So ready to bring it in is Baird for LC Baseline to the right in fourth court. Baird starts the motion, gets it into Pierce left the right baseline for a three point shot off the iron. No good. And Weavers grabs already her third rebound in the first 90 seconds of this game.

Weavers weaving through traffic. Bounce pass underneath for a layup shot. Good and 1. Chisholm gets the basket and she is fouled and will go to the line to shoot. One shot.

Foul called on Mackenzie Erling. That's her first and it's a second team foul. And Brooke Chisholm will go to the line to try to complete a three point play. And into the game for LC Presley Barkstrom a 61 sophomore and Rhiannon Kilgore a 57 sophomore into the lineup here. Here is Chisholm for her free throw to complete the three point play.

Can't do it. Offensive rebound though. Eschenbacher shot blocked by Bergstrom, now to Baird. She'll bring the ball up into the fourth court. Baird driving off to the right side Gives it away up top now to Pierce.

Long lead over the head of Chisholm and they will let that One go out of bounds. We'll all see. And the Tigers will get the ball in the backcourt for nothing. The score in favor of Ferris. We played just over two minutes here in this one second turnover on Ferris so far in the the contest.

Here comes Olivia Baird up into the forecourt to Pierce. Way out beyond the arc on the right wing. Now off a screen, drives to the top of the key. Still dribbling up top. Incense it over on the left wing to earling out on top of the key.

Now to Baird. Baird starts to the right. Retreat. She's got Weavers on her now. A crossover and a drive and a pitch out.

Here's a three pointer and that is made from the right, left wing, I should say, by Ryan and Kilgore. Rayon and kilgore with the first basket for LC. It's a Damon Orthodontics 3. And it's 43 now in favor of Farris against pressure put on here by Baird. Ferris gets into the four court as Haley Orton gets it now inside.

It comes to Eschenbacher. Tried to muscle up a shot and she is fouled. And Mataij Eschenbacher will go to the free throw line here to shoot two. Falcall to Mackenzie Erling. That's her third or her second rather.

Shaw with it up top now to Barkstrom. She'll hand it off. Here's a three point shot by Pierce. That is no good. Off the iron.

Rebound fought for out of bounds. It goes off of Ferris. It'll be no off of. They'll see only Ferris ball. Five minutes remaining to play here in the first quarter.

And here comes Orton. She'll bring the ball up into the fourth court. Orton crosses the timeline, works the right side, dumps it inside. Eschenbacher down. Chisholm down low.

And she'll float up a little. Five footer and scores. So Brooke Chisholm with the basket. Seven three now in favor of Ferris. Shot put up.

That's no good. Rebound grabbed out of there by Colton for Ferris. She'll bring the ball up into the fourth quarter. Fulton has her pocket pick. Baird Solo Drive the other way for a right handed layup.

That's good. So Olivia Baird gets the steal in the basket. And it's a 75 ball game now in favor of Ferris. 4:20 remaining to play here. First quarter, Eschenbacher at the high post, can't catch the pass.

And now we're going to have a jump ball called as that ball went over the head of Eschenbacher and it was tied up between her and Barkstrom. And it's a turnover. The fourth of the game on Ferris here in the first quarter of action. So the jump ball, the alternating possession and the Tigers get it after the Ferris turnover. Here's Olivia Baird into the fourth court.

Gives away at the foul line to Pierce. She lost it. Will run it down on the right wing and on top to Baird. They're dribbling between the circles. Office Green starts to the left side and is held and fouled by Haley Orton.

Yes, sir. And here comes Haley Orton up into the fourth court. Orton with it, dribbles to the right side, picked up by Baird in a switch. Then is cut off on another switch by Rhiannon Kilgore. And we have a held ball, jump ball here.

And the alternating possession will go to Ferris. 19 to shoot three. 28 remaining to play here in the first quarter. And they'll bring it in from the sidelines on the right near us here. And ready to bring it in will be Abby Colton.

Colton gets into d' Orton. Right back to Colton on the right wing pass into the post. Eschenbacher, she'll turn in the lane. Little up and under. Move.

Can't get a shot to fall. Rebound tipped out by Pierce. And then knocked out of bounds by Weaver. I believe Weavers knocks it out. And it'll be LC basketball 318 to play here in the first quarter.

LC trailing 7 to 5, they've got the basketball and Olivia Baird will bring the ball up into the front court. Baird walks it straight up through the center circle. And here comes a sub in for Ferris as they bring Maya Seimers into the game. And she replaces Chisholm. So LC can take their first lead in this 7, 7 tie. LC took the lead, our fourth lead change at 1917 and they held the lead the rest of the way in the half. They up their lead to five points, the biggest in the half for either team at 22 to 17. But then they only got a free throw down the stretch where Ferris got a couple of baskets and at the intermission it's a two point lead for Lewis and Clark at 23 to 21. Leading scorers for Ferris, six points for Elise Weaver, six for Maya Seamers and only four players scored for Ferris in the first half of play. LC had a little more balance attack in that six players scored in the first half and the leading scorer was Sadie Pierce with five first half points.

So at the intermission our score is LC 23 and Ferris 21. The Ferris cheerleaders and dance team will come out and perform here at the intermission. It'll be their half to entertain and then it'll be LC's half to entertain. Ferris outperforming for the crowd right now. Again, their theme is the holiday theme. Their cheerleaders are in Santa suits except for the two girls out there in the chicken suits. They always, well, they have three of them actually this year. So they always have their chicken suits to try to get the rubber chicken back at Ferris again this year as they are in possession of the rubber chicken currently Chuck resides at Ferris.

They want to hang on to Chuck for another year. So again it's keep Chuck home for Christmas. That's the Ferris theme and country roads to bring Chuck back to LC and the western theme for LC here. You have anything to say? Oh yes, you need to.

Once the volume is moved up his coach, that helps. Heck of a first half. Give credit to both those teams. Great ball game back and forth. Looked like LC was going to pull away.

Ferris came back in and made a game of it. But this is the best part in my opinion. The halftime and the stuff in between the games in terms of what they're doing and the fact that think of much practice they've had to do and how much this has been coordinated. My son went through three of these things at Ferris and he said he was more wiped out doing three hours of lifting, you know, gals up in the air and throwing people all over the place than he was playing in a football game.

So a lot of effort, a lot of stuff comes into play. A lot of great dedication on both sides. It's really cool to see. Yep, takes a lot of practice and the only time you will see the opposition side fans cheering as as wildly for the other teams cheerleaders as they do for their own. So the LC fans are all over there, their students, they're clapping in rhythm along with the beat of the music as the ELSA is the Ferris cheerleaders and male football players and non basketball players are out there doing their thing too.

And nowadays how cool is that to see sportsmanship on both sides? Well, here you're, you're being well judged for what you're doing here. Still cool. I agree with you and it's nice to see that with some of the things that we've seen on the other side it hasn't been so nice, so great for the community to come together to battle and I know they're competing for a goofy rubber chicken but hey man, it's been 42 years and there's a lot at stake for both these schools.

All right, we're at the intermission here. It's Ferris 23. Excuse me, it's LC23, Ferris 20. The Ferris Football players just threw off their sweats, sweatpants and revealed Christmas shorts. Shorts, I guess underneath.

Do you have a pair of those? No, no, I. I do not. I don't either. You can tell who the guys are that get.

Because they've kept their shorts up higher so everybody can see their thighs. Yeah, I would probably. They have the John Stockton's. I would have the new version of that which would be the ones below your knees. And so the performance continues.

Pullman is at Cheney, Riverside is at West Valley and Rogers at Moscow. Those are non league games. We assume this game is happening tonight, but since NC played last night, maybe it's been rescheduled. But it's in the schedule that North Central is playing at East Valley tonight. That's girls and boys action and that would be a counting 2A league game.

If that game does happen and there should be a whale of a game happening in Clarkston tonight. Clarkston's a very good 2A team. They're hosting a very good 4A team in Gonzaga Prep. And again that's girls basketball for that one. Pullman is playing at North Central tonight in a wrestling match.

So Pullman and North Central are wrestling tonight. Most everybody else wrestled last night but because NC had their spirit game they pushed their wrestling match back by, by a day. And so they host Pullman. With that, our next broadcast to high school basketball here on 700 ESPN 105. 3 FM will happen after the new year on January 3rd and it'll be a two way game as Deer park plays at West Valley.

So we'll have that for you. Right now we're scheduled to do the boys game at 7 o' clock but this Deer park girls team, they're really, really good. And so I'm now I'm kind of thinking we might end. West Valley's girls are good. I think they got beat in the championship game last year at the lower level.

1A I believe you're, I think you are. I think that's what happened. Right? I know they made a state, they made a run. I don't know if they, they didn't win it but I know they got close.

So Deer park versus West Valley right now we're scheduled for the boys at seven but we may Audible and do the the girls game at 5:30 instead. We'll keep you up to date on that. But right now that is our next game. A Deer Park West Valley boys game at 7 o' clock on January 3rd. Both teams are out on the floor warming up.

Let's get to our. We don't know exactly when they're gonna start this because the clock's not running right now. So we don't know when they're gonna start the half. So let's get to some stats here for Ferris. Their leading scorers, Maya Seamers and Elise Weavers with six points each, five for Matias, four for Brooke Chisholm.

That is their total of 21 points for LC, five points for Sadie Pierce, four for Ruby Shaw, four for Olivia Baird, three each for Mackenzie Erling and Rhiannon Kilgore, two for Boban Kilgore and two for Presley Barkstrom for LC's total of 23. Foul trouble is going to play a huge part in the second half. Eschenbacher with three for Ferris, she's their leading scorer on the season. Orton, Weavers, Cooney all with two. Orton and Weavers are both starters for lc.

Three fouls each on Ruby Shaw, starter and Rhiannon Kilgore, their top reserve. Two fouls on Mackenzie Erling in the first half. Paul, you've got some other stats for us and those are going to be presented by Inland Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Clinic for Ferris. Interesting. 18 total rebounds.

The leading rebounder is Elise Weavers doing a nice job. She has six, also an assistant, a block, another block by Eschenbacher as well. So nice job from that front. Kind of a keely heel for Ferris in the first half. Larry, 12 turnovers and that was a tough deal.

On the other side, Lewis and Clark has 14 rebounds. Leading rebounder is Barkstrom. She has four, three for Baird and two each for both Kilgore's and also Pierce. They only had six turnovers so they doubled up basically and were able to make a difference. So you know the coaching staff.

Courtney Gray is going to talk to her girls about doing a better job of controlling the basketball, not turning it over. They're doing a great job in this game that you know in terms of a two point game, 23, 21. But you've got to limit your turnover especially in the second half. So those are your first half stats right now. The LC students over there with guitar signs, they've got big cardboard guitar drawing and they've got the cardboard on sticks.

It's almost like a ruler. And then they've got some stringer things on the bottom. And then it looks like Ferris has hand puppets. Yeah, Ferris has kind of bags on their hands and the bags have faces and they've got red shirts on and their bags are white and there's a few candy canes there. Very Christmassy and well, that's their theme.

And LC orange shirts over there with the white signs and so still a lot of spirit going on here as we await the start of the second half of play. 9 seconds remaining. And so Sadie Pierce with a huge fourth quarter will go back to the line for two more free throws here and any free throw made here. If she gets either of these ices the game, it would be a three possession game. With a tick less than nine seconds. 8.

9 seconds remaining. There's the free throw. Good. Pierce 12 fourth quarter points with a 21 point game. Second free throw, that's in and out.

No good. Rebound taken by Weavers. 52:45 and Weavers is fouled in the backcourt. Why? It makes no sense.

Baird the foul. She's a senior too. That's her third foul. She's a pretty heady basketball player. I think she just got a little ahead of herself and got a reach.

And they're going to call that all day long. Coach Floriani in disbelief on the LC bench. So two free throws for Weavers free throw is good. Stop the clock and you get points at the best possible result Ferris could have on that Weavers five out of five from the foul line. Second free throw and that's good.

Alright. Quite a fourth quarter of that ballgame. Ferris with 17 points. Rather LC with 17 points, Ferris scored 18 and LC hangs on for a five point win to even their record at four and four. And Ferris falls to two and five with the loss.

Let's recap this ballgame. Ferris started out in front. They scored the first four points of the ball game. They still led by four at seven to three before LC scored four straight. Tied the game for the first time at seven.

We were tied at nine, tied at 11. Ferris took a 13 to 11 lead near the end of the first quarter of play. A free throw by LC cap the lead to one and Ferris led at 13 to 12 at the end of the first quarter. Reply. In the second quarter, LC took their first lead of the ball game at 14 to 13 on a couple of free throws by Presley Barkstrom.

But then we've got on the seesaw a little bit, changed leads. We were tied at 17 and then LC took the lead at 19 to 17. That was our fourth lead change of the ball game. And that would be the last lead change of the ball game I believe it was. LC ran the lead out to 22 to 17.

Ferris came back, cut it to one and it was a two point game. 23:21. At the intermission we were tied at 23, tied at 25. And then LC scored four straight points to take a four point lead. They still led by.

Actually they led by two and at 31:29. And then LC scored the last two buckets of the third quarter. And at the end of three quarters LC was on top 35 to 29. Ferris got the lead to four at 35:31. Ferris still trailed 38, 35.

And then LC went on a mini run, a four point run. A couple of free throws up there, lead to seven and then this play by Sadie Pierce who had a huge fourth quarter as our play of the game that gave them their biggest lead of the game, nine points. It's our Adam Strachter play of the game. Earling Debaired Baird out of the back court, sends it ahead. Pierce to the rim for a layup.

That's good. Sadie Pierce, the drive in the Basket. She has 13 points and the biggest lead of the game. Now for LC it's 42:33 with 451 remaining to play here in the second half. So it looked like LC had a handle on the game maybe, but no.

Ferris came back six straight points, kept the lead to three at 42:39, but they couldn't get closer. LC on an Olivia Baird basket took the lead back to five at 44:39. Ferris got back to them three at 47 to 44, but that was it for them. LC took the lead back at the seven and they win by five. Lewis and Clark 52 and Ferris 47.

Seven for Ruby Shaw, four for Presley Barkstrom, three for Mackenzie Erling and three for Rhiannon Kilgore. Two for Babe and Kilgore. Kilgore rather. Four LC's total of 52. Yeah, that is 52.

So that is a look at your scoring stats. Paul's got some other stats for you and they are brought to you by Divine's Auto Center. Well, let's talk Farris right off the bat. 34 total rebounds. Weavers had a great game.

She had 10, 10 rebounds to go with those 14 points. Also a steal, assist and a block. Eight rebounds for Eschenbacher, steals four for Ferris, three assists and three blocks. Unfortunately 21 turnovers of which nine of those were in the second half. They had 12 in the first half.

Going over to the other side, Lewis and Clark. Pierce did a great job with her 21 points. She also had six rebounds, five steals and assists and two blocks. Nice just by Lewis and Clark. They had 28 rebounds.

They were out rebounded by six, but were able to make some things happen. Barkstrom also had a nice game. She had 2, 4, 6. She had 8 rebounds as well and only 14 total turnovers. You compare that to the 21 and you see that final score of 5 points.

That makes a big difference. So a nice job. Pretty balanced both sides. A lot of fouls. Had a lot of turnovers in this game.

And Lewis and Clark gets the victory. They are four and four on the season. They have now won three out of their last four games, Ferris had a chance to put together back to back wins for the first time this season, but they fall short and they're now 2 and 5. Kind of odd in this game we only had two Damon orthodontics, three pointers. I don't feel like Damon orthodontics got their money's worth in this game. So let me say it one more Damon orthodontics. They there is only two three pointers made in this game. Ferris didn't make any of them and Elsie made two.

Well Dr. Clay was up there waving his finger at us, the good one, not, not the bad one. So I don't think he's upset about that. They've got their money's worth over the season so far. Well, your player of the game there's.

I thought she played really well. Very close on that but I'm going to go with her over Eisenbacher with regards to Lewis and Clark. Sadie Pierce was outstanding. As you mentioned her 17 or her points, you really in the fourth quarter, that 17 point fourth quarter for Lewis and Clark, it was pretty much the Sadie Pierce show. She had 21 points, she had five or six rebounds, five steals.

She had an assist and two blocks. She's the second team all GSL player from last year came on and really gives you a first team performance tonight. I thought she was a difference in this game. So congratulations. Elise weavers who had 14 points for Ferris and Sadie Pierce who had 2071 points for Lewis and Clark.

Heck, our, our high school we were lucky to get three or four people to show up and you know, jump up and down and do stuff and they were actually more entertaining than any of the sports teams because we weren't very good.

So you know, it's just nice to see them come out. They do a lot of work, a lot of practice. Really nice uniforms too, by the way. Kind of sparkly and a lot of gold and orange. And it is the Tiger drill team that's out here and they're doing the rodeo theme.

It looks like they're trying to lasso something there as they start their routine and the crowd enjoying that. So in the girls game, Lewis and Clark defeated Ferris by the score of 52 to 47. If that does go on this evening, non conference girls game should be very interesting. Gonzaga Prep playing at Clarkston tonight and they're having wrestling tonight as well at North Central as Pullman takes on North Central this evening. Our next radio game will happen on January 3rd. And welcome back because we are at we're getting Dave Nichols set up here for his his interview. Dave, the beat writer for the Spokesman Review. You can read his story on tonight's game online spokesman. com after this game ends. So night three and you've survived.

I'm exhausted. I'll bet you are. And I haven't touched a basketball. It just, it's amazing. You sit here for three nights in a row and it's just amazing how much the energy in the building can SAP you of your own energy.

You know, it's not these kids, obviously. They're just going 100 miles a minute the entire time they're here. But we're not Doing anything other than just sitting here. And I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. It's.

It's a whole different situation than any other games that I go to over the course of the year. Yeah, you know, I was doing some, some tweeting earlier, one of the beat writers over on the west side of the state. You know, I was setting out some of the pictures of the coaches and their outfits and everything and they're like, do they do this every year? And I'm like, yeah, they do it every year. It's, it really is.

I don't know if it's unique in the country to Spokane, but obviously in the state, you know, even the beat writers from the west side are amazed that the level of participation, the level of buy in with everybody with Spirit League. All right, so let's talk a little bit about what is going to be happening throughout this season when we get into March time, because of course everybody's interested about the state tournament, but on the foray side this year there's only two bursts out of Eastern Washington. Is that what I'm hearing? Yeah. So the GSL and the MCC only get two bursts this year.

So it's going to be, you know, we talked a little bit last night. The boys is wide open. I think the girls are probably a little bit more set, but then they have to go through the MCC too. And you know, there's a very good battle basketball schools down there as well. So, you know, it's entirely likely that, you know, that we're looking at a potentially top 10 team in the state getting left out of the state tournament because this side only gets two bids.

And when you look at things on the 4A side, you've got the Mead girls, who are always very good. You've got the Prep girls who are always very good. And then when you go down to the Tri Cities, you've got Chijuana, who's got a player that's going to WSU next year. Right. And there may be another team down there as well that I'm not familiar with or don't know about.

So there's at least three teams that could easily place at State and one of them is going to get left out. Yeah, you know, last year it happened at Tijuana. They, they had to come up here to play Gonzaga Prep in the district. Third place game. And Gonzaga Prep was.

That was one of their seven wins in a row that kept them alive and they eventually reached the state, the state finals. So, you know, they deserved It. But you're talking about Malia Rude, who is a national player. You mentioned her going to Washington State. Just a tremendous kid, tremendous athlete, and she got left out last year.

So, you know they're going to be itching to make state this year. On the two way side with the girls, we've got two teams that could go very far. At least two that would be Deer park and Clark. Yeah, and I've seen Stewart park play a couple of times this year and I think they could qualify in 3A. I mean, they're moving up from 1A to 2A already.

They're a very good basketball team. They don't have a lot of size, but all five of their starters can handle the ball. They can all shoot, obviously. You know, the twin sisters, you know, one's really super offensively and one's super defensively. They get a transfer.

Come in. JC Bosal, who was the MVP of her league last year. Just a really good basketball team. And they play. They kind of play a little bit like Freddie Rico's CB team, you know, when they just press after every make and make it very difficult for things.

They outscored Coeur d', Alene, who's going to be a state qualifier in Idaho 6A. They outscored Coeur d' Alene 34, 2 in the first quarter when they played last week. Wow. Now they're not going to shoot it like that every night, but they're capable of it. And that's against the team that with Brooksley Colvin at point guard.

Brooksley's a Power 5 recruit and they just own Coeur d' Alene that night. That is. That's amazing. So. And West Valley is not a bad team either for that.

But I don't know that they're quite at that level of Clarkston to Deer Park. Yeah, Clarkston's kind of similar to Deer park, where again, not a tremendous amount of size, but they all can play and they've proved it year after year. You know, obviously Wallace, their point guard, graduated last year, but they haven't missed a beat this year. They're continuing to win and showing that they're one of the top teams in the state. On the boys side, there's really nobody that sticks out like the teams on the girls side, is there?

There really isn't. I think 483-828-It's all win wide for up for grabs. I think in two way it's going to be very competitive. I think there are several good basketball teams in there. Obviously West Valley hasn't lost yet.

North Carolina just lost their first loss tonight. Obviously, if NC wins the 2A league, then they qualify for 3, 8 playoffs. But, you know, we're talking about West Valley, we're talking about Rodgers. You know, Pullman's won a couple of games. I mean, two eight's always, always good here.

We've talked. We talked a little bit last night. 4A, 3A, the boys side just completely wide open. Every time somebody wins, they go out and they lose their next game and you're looking okay. This team's gonna.

They're gonna start. They're gonna start pulling away. And then we saw that with Gonzaga Prep. They got off to a 3 and 14 on 1 start or whatever and then fell to Ferris and then all of a sudden, you know who's gonna win again. This is a little bit predictable though, isn't it?

All conference players returned from last year and two of them are hurt. Exactly. And Nate Christie and Dylan Groves from Prep would have been a much different team with those two players. Obviously, I thought for my money, Nate Christie was the most improved player of the year last year. Really.

As they say, sometimes big kids take a little bit of time to grow into their feet. He'd finally grown into his feet and he looked a lot more confident when he had the ball in the paint. And obviously, obviously, Dylan Groves, probably the best outside shooter in the league. Both out with injuries the complete year. So prep isn't quite what they should be.

And Mead was, I think after that, Meade was probably the next one to consider the next favorite. And then Nash Dunham gets hurt in their second game and he hasn't played since. They expect him back either, you know, during the holidays or right after the holidays. All right, so here comes Ferris out in their Christmas adornments and the LC boys come out riding their stick ponies with cowboy hats and kerchiefs over their face like a Old west robber. So one of my favorite aspects of Spirit Year every year is to see Sean Mallon Ferris boys basketball coach dressed up in whatever theme you're.

I mean, he sticks out like a sore thumb at 6:10, right? So to see him out here in his cruise Christmas jammies and. Pretty fun. Dave, thanks as always. We appreciate it.

I think there's probably two or three parents on the Ferris side. They're looking at their child in disbelief at this point in time. Those are the freshmen too, by the way. Are they really the Ones with that got the ball domes on the top. Yeah, they got taken care of there.

Yeah, one of them's a junior. Well, maybe it's his first year at varsity. The other kid still, last time I saw him, he's still in his pajamas. No, he got those off. Where'd he go?

There he is. That is a senior. So they got one kid that gave himself to Larry Fine. If you're a. If you have a certain amount of age on you, you remember Larry from the Three Stooges or not?

What was it? From the Three. And Larry from the Three Stooges. So it was Larry, Larry Fine, where he had no hair on the top of his head and copious amounts on the side and in the back. And another kid shaved all of his head except for a little tuft in the front of his right above his.

On the top of his forehead there. Well, A. J. is the guy you're talking about. That's a senior that.

That's got. Gave himself the Larry Fine. Yeah. And then there's another dude, 15, Robinson, who's. Who's a junior.

He's got hair in the front of his head and then he's shaved, you know, I mean, yeah, he's got bangs at the front and then nothing. The rest of the. It looks like. Looks like a carpet. And then towards.

And that's. That's AJ over there. He's the one that basically has the. Yeah, he's got the Larry Fine. He's got the Larry Fine.

And then there's another young man, Sam Colton, who's a sophomore who shaved his head except for the right side above his ear. And so he's got hair above his ear on the right side, but no other hair, so. Well, Lewis and Clark doesn't have any problems. Everybody's got their full flopped domes. They're not.

They're not, you know, but that's kind of the tradition. They get to. They get to have other people do the haircutting thing. They try to embarrass you. I don't think I would react very well.

Join in the fun of that. I would. If you're going to cut it all off, fine. But I don't think I would want to be the guy with the. I mean, trust me, I look like the guy anyway, because that comes natural because mine fell out, so I didn't shave it.

I had an ugly head back in high school, man. It was like a shrub. And if somebody would done that to me, it would have really made, you know, what I had to offer even Worse. So Ferris, coming into this game, they won their first two games of the year. Then they lost three in a row where they failed to score more than 50 points in any of those games.

And then they won their last game against University. So when they score better than 60 points, they're three. And oh, and when they score under 50, they're owing three. So, so there's your kind of line of demarcation. They got to get up to 60.

They do to get a victory here. And LC is kind of the same way. They have struggled to score so far this season and they've also probably their biggest thing is they struggled to defend in their first six games of the year. They held opponents under 60 points only one time and that was 59. And they finally got a good defensive performance.

Held Ridgeline to in their last game on Tuesday and they picked up a 51 to 40 win in that ball game. So we'll see how well they defend here in this ball game and whether they can hold this Ferris team down. And, and as we've shown, when Ferris scores under 50, they just don't, don't play enough defense to win. That's just it. And they, and one thing, Sean now and coach teams over the years have always been able to shoot the three.

They want to get in transition and get up and down the court as quickly as they can. If the layup is not there, they'll kick it back out. If they get hot on the three, they can beat anybody. But that's not always one of their monikers. And defense hasn't been, as you mentioned, hasn't been a strength.

They have to outscore people to win the game. All right, so we have more coming up here as both these teams are on the floor warming up prior to the start of this ball game. LC of the home home team, they'll be in their white home jerseys. Ferris will be in their red road uniforms as well. And again reminding you of the themes here for these games.

Ferris has a Christmas theme. They want to keep Chuck home for the holidays. Basically they've got the holiday theme going here. Excuse me. And LC has the country theme going on here.

They want country roads to take Chuck back home because they lost Chuck last year, snapping a three year run for LC with Chuck. And so Ferris snapped that string last year winning Chuck. They want to keep him home for the holidays. And LC wants to use those country roads to take Chuck home. And they're in their cowboy themes.

Everybody in hats, a lot of western wear, a lot of wanted signs. And cowboy boot signs and cacti and whatnot and so forth over across the way. Well, it's interesting because if Ferris can win this, you know, win Chuck back two years in a row, we'll be 20 and 20 in terms of the series. Now there are three, three times in 83, 84, they didn't. I don't know if they kept score, if they did any of that stuff.

But there was no winner in those first two years in. And then of course in 21 when they had Covid, they couldn't do it for obvious reasons. And so those are the only three contests. You know, this is number 42 overall, but very, very close in this series. And with Ferris winning it last year, they basically cut the lead from 2018 out of 20 to 19.

They win today with this. So they're going to tie this thing up. So there's a lot at stake here and there's a lot of bragging rights and it's amazing how a rubber chicken will elicit so much passion. As both teams are on the war on the floor warming up for this ball game. Here is key game for both teams. LC lost their first six games trying to get a little momentum here, win their second straight game. Now this is a non league game obviously, so doesn't really matter that much when you start thinking about regular season because they're not. This game doesn't count in the standings, but it counts overall in the season.

Both teams want to get some momentum going. This would be Ferris second straight win if they can get a victory here tonight. Well, Ferris as you mentioned is a streaky team. They won a couple of stars, lost three in a row. You know, they're trying to figure out kind of their mojo and you know they're going to get coached up.

Sean Mallon not only was an outstanding basketball player when he played at Ferris, but went out and had had a great career at Gonzaga. Did a lot of cool things and you know they just, they just haven't had the personnel that they've had maybe you know, last 10 years or so. But they're a team that's going to play hard. They're a team that's going to be able to shoot and they're going to team that's going to get after you, you know, in terms of getting up and down the court where Lewis and Clark is a little bit more defensive based.

They're going to try to grind you a little bit, try to make you create turnovers, limit your shots. They, they're not necessarily a great shooting team, but they take higher percentage shots from that perspective. So they really kind of rely on their defense to key, you know, this team in terms of making things happen. All right, that'll do it for our pregame show. Good crowd here for this rubber chicken game. Probably better than 4,000 here, I would think tonight. Yeah, lower bowl is pretty darn fully darn full. And you've got upper bowl as well, at least on the Lewis and Clark side. You turn around and I can't see the upper bowl in the up on this side.

Oh, okay. Well, not bad. Yeah. So pretty good crowd here to watch this one as we get ready for boys action here this evening. And, well, as we get to the starting lineups, first, let's get to our starting lineup of official.

And this is kind of an honor, too, getting a chance to do the rivalry games. You're going to get some pretty good ones. Our umpire in charge, basically our official in charge, is Ben Harris. You got Todd Biederman, who's a longtime referee, and Chuck Cardone, who's a guy that I work with for many years, has got a great sense of humor. He's a good guy.

He had to have a great sense of humor working with me as an official. So these guys do a nice job. The GSL needs more officials. Remember, without them, we can't. Kids can't play.

So please consider joining one of the multiple different organizations. Wrestling, volleyball, soccer, football, basketball, baseball. Doesn't matter. They need officials. You get paid 30 to 75 a game.

The LC cheerleaders were having a siesta, I think, and now they come charging out onto the floor here finally from somewhere, because they weren't out here anywhere because the starting lineups are about to be introduced to the crowd here. Again, it's a cowboy theme, a country theme for Lewis and Clark, and a crisp Christmas theme for Ferris with the LC coaches and cowboy hats and flannel shirts and the Ferris coaches in Christmas sweaters. So there you go. Match. That's kind of a nice sweater.

That's not considered an ugly Christmas. No, not. I wouldn't say so. I wouldn't think so. At any rate, starting the lineups now, first, first off, for Ferris, coached by Sean Mellon.

Starting at guard, they've got Baruch Walledson, that he is 5, 10 and a senior. The other guard will be Cannon Dean, he is 63 and a senior. They'll have Jack Christensen inside 64 and a sophomore. Luke Roland, their leading scorer, 63 and a senior, averaging almost 18 a game. And.

And Cole Floyd, a freshman, 67 going and averaging 13 points a game for Ferris so far this season. So it's Woletson bet I gotta practice on that. Dean Christensen, Rowland and Floyd for Ferris for lc, coached by Jay Swambold they'll start Parker Porter Pearson, he is 58 and a junior. Cruz Kimmet, he is 511 and a freshman. K.

J. kincaid 63 and a junior. Renan Dickerson 61 and a senior. And Asher Jensen 65 and a senior in their starting lineup. And I wish I could tell you who the leading scorers were for lc but they don't report their scores to the spokesman reviews so interesting too.

Ferris has six. They report their scores, they don't report their individual scoring. That's fair. And you do the homework on that. You can't find it if it's not listed.

So six seniors for Ferris on this team, only two for Lewis and Clark. Relatively young basketball team that Coach Wombalt is, is having to deal with here. And that would be Jensen and Dickerson. Yes, the two starters. Jensen really the only size that LC has out there.

Kincaid is six three. But you've got Floyd at six seven and you've got then six four at Christensen and a couple of six threes out there. Yeah. So I think this is going to be an interesting game. I would be surprised to see Ferris try to pack it in a little bit and try to work, work the paint and.

And again, if they start to drop down, they'll kick out and they love to hit their three, so that's going to be the key. Can they hit their shots on the outside and can the Lewis and Clark defense kind of step up and support them? Especially with extra, extra chances in terms of Ferris in the road. Red Saxons in writing across the front in white, trimmed in black. Tigers in their home.

It goes to Christensen. The big man feeds it back to Wolenson. Bet looks inside for Floyd. Can't get it to him. Speeds up top.

Dean now to Floyd. Low to the right side. Spins on the baseline, spins back. Wraparound pass. Dean fade away.

Shot no good. Off the iron and we have a jump ball as Christiansen or check that. Rowland is in there fighting with one of the Tigers. And a jump ball and the alternating possession goes to LC. That's how the Tigers will get the ball for their first possession.

It'll be 5, 8, Porter Pearson bring it into the fourth court. Pearson bounce pass, high post. Jensen now inside. Turnaround jump shot no good by. They've changed their starting lineup.

Angus Ginn is in there and he missed the shot inside. Here comes Ferris. Roland to drive and a runner no good. And he is fouled. And we'll go to the free throw line here.

This foul is going to be called on KJ Kincaid. Kincaid first and the teams first. And two free throws coming for Brady Roland to try to give us our first points of the game. And the rebound into the hands of Dean for Ferris. Now the Walencic bet and he'll bring the ball up into the front court here. Boruque Wolins, bounce pass, left wing. Now the end of the corner. It goes to Roland.

Back out onto the wing. Floyd with it, looking for somebody to pass it to the six. Seven forward will dribble right now and give the way there to Christiansen. Then he loses it, but it's picked up by Willens at that. He'll launch a 17 footer left of the key that rolls off the iron.

No good. Volleyball on the rebound. And it's finally grabbed by Jensen for Lewis and Clark ahead now to Pearson. He'll race into the fourth court. Pearson pulls up, deals it out.

Jensen swing it left wing now to Kincaid. Kincaid a drive into the lane. Pulls up, can't shoot. Pitch out now to Dickinson. Dickinson drives, fires a pass.

Right corner Jensen. He'll take it to the window for a layup. That's good Asser. Jensen with the drive in the basket. And we are all tied at 2.

Wolens it back into the fourth court. He wants to drive Pearson underhands to Dean. He loses it, but goes out to mid court to grab it again. Right wing now to Roland. Holds the basketball, looks inside, can't get it there.

Drives instead. Has the ball stripped away. And a foul is called. And Kincaid is going to be caught for that. And that's his second early foul.

Comes 2 minutes and 13 seconds into the game and he's going to get this down. So for they bring David Conklin into the game. A six foot junior. And now they get a lot smaller with just Jensen. Well, they've got gain in the game as well.

So they've got Jensen and gain both in there. Here's the inbounds pass. Batted away and stolen. Taken out of there by Dickerson. Here he comes into the fourth court.

Finds Pearson down the right side. He'll accelerate. They give it away on the right. Now they get into the post game. Backs in turn.

Shoots and scores off the glass. Angus Gaines a 67 sophomore score as LC has their first lead at 42 into the front court. Here comes Wolenzabet. Dribbles across the top against Jensen, the 65 player now on the left wing. The Dean out.

Wilen Sabet. Three pointer is good. It's a Damon Orthodontics three from the left side of the key. Baruch. Wilen Sabet gives Farris the lead at 5 to 4.

Just over 5 minutes remaining here in the first quarter. Gain with it. High post, right of the key. Gives away Dickinson. He'll drive.

Sent over to Jensen. Jensen a drive down to the baseline. Pitch out left corner. Three on the way. That's off the heel of the rim by Conklin.

Long rebound. Wolensibet. He'll lead the break. Back one on two drives. Throws him a wild shot.

No good. And the rebound is taken by Dickinson. Dickerson rather. Excuse me. Dickerson ahead into the fourth court to Pearson.

Pearson launches a long three that rattles out no good. That's about a 27 footer. And the rebound into the hands of Rowland for Ferris. Saxons on top five four Will ends the bet. Walks it across the timeline with two seconds to spare.

Gives it to Floyd, the six seven forward way out there. He'll end her. Hand it now to Roland, up on top to Christiansen. Dumps it inside, batted away from Floyd. And it's picked up on a steal by Gain.

Now to Pearson ahead. His pass stolen away by Dean. They go to the floor, still loose. And I think LC Got away. Went over in the back there.

But they keep possession of the ball. Here's a drive and a feed to Jensen. Three ball out of the right corner. Off the bank. No good.

And the rebound taken away by Roland. His second of the ball game for Christmas. So he tried to bank that one in, but he missed it a little bit too hard. Roland to Wolince at that on the right. He'll bring it out front now and start to the left now cross back over to the right.

Drives, pitch back. Dean. Top of the key now on the right side. Here's a drive by Floyd and it's stolen away. Ferris turns it over.

Pearson on the run. Races into the fourth quarter. Bounce pass Jensen. He'll drive from the right. Baseball it over Dickinson now to Jensen down in the left corner.

And we've got a four whistle and a holding foul in the post as Gain was trying to post up inside and he was being held by Jack Christensen, the 64 sophomore. First foul on Ferris. And that'll take us to a break. 328 left, first quarter. It's Ferris 5, Lewis and Clark 4 on the Arby.

Rebound will enseve it ahead up the right side. Falling down with basketball is Robinson sitting on the ground trying to get somebody. The basketball still loose. Finally it's ripped away and stolen by Jensen for LC now to Pearson. Pearson on the run, racing through traffic.

Has the ball poked away and stolen. But then the outlet pass is stolen right back. Kimmitt to Pearson now to Jensen. Drives, fires a pass that's batted away, that's stolen by Farris. Here comes Walensevat.

One on one with Kim. Missed the layup shot and the rebound taken by Jensen. Hustling back down to Pearson. Ahead now to Conklin. Up the left side into the fourth court, jumps into the post to gain, turn, shoots and scores.

A little five footer from the left side of the lane Angus Gain or Gus Gain as he's known. It's now 65 in favor of LC our third lead change here of the ball game in a wild first quarter. Here's Walensevat handing it. It off now to Roland. Roland dribbling out on the right.

Gives away on the wing now to Robinson. Jumps into the post to Christiansen. Christiansen feeds it out. Walensebet. He'll launch a 3 and hit it a Damon Orthodontics 3 for Boruque Walensebet.

That is his second of the game. And Ferris is back on top by the score of 8 to 6. Way out on the right side. Kimmitt gives high post on the left a gain back to Kimmitt again. The freshman drives to the foul line.

Pivots around and lobs a pass to Conklin right wing. Fakes a shot, drives, comes under the basket, jumps it out. Jensen, he'll drive into the lane right handed. Floater is no good. And the rebound out of bounds.

It'll be Ferris basketball into the game for LC Renan Dickerson back in. He'll replace Porter Pearson. No change in the Ferris 5. And here comes Woludson. Bet into the fourth court.

Gives it away on the right wing to Robinson. He'll have it batted away. But it rolls out to Floyd. The 67 forward dumps into the post of Roland and he has held and fouled down in the post. Probably a good foul on that one because basically a good seal that time by the Saxons.

He threw it over the top. He just got Renan. Dickerson called for the foul. His first team's third. Jensen will get a quick rest.

Yes. Check it in for LC is Brady Dowling a 6:3 sophomore inbound. Christensen up top will incebed now to Floyd. He'll hoist the three and hit it the six seven Cole Floyd steps outside and hits the three back to back threes from Floyd and Will ensed that and it's now an 1166 Ferris lead up top inside now gain and he got it over the front end defender for a layup.

They scored the last 5 points of the first quarter and tied the game for the second time at 11. After the first quarter they continued their run to 7 to nothing as they scored the first basket of the season. Second quarter to take a 13 to 11 lead. We were tied at 13. Ferris.

We took the lead on a 3 at 16 13. Then LC tied it on a 3 at 16. LC scored 5 straight points, took a 21 to 16 lead in the game. That was their 5 point lead. But Ferris came back tied the game with five straight points at 21.

After LC hit a free throw to take a 22221 lead, Ferris gets a basket to put them in the lead 23:22 and they go into halftime with that 23 to 22 edge. Eight lead changes in the first half and five ties here in this ball game so far. Leading scorers Luke Roland leading Ferris with eight points and for LC they were led by the sophomore forward Gus Gaines who scored 12 in the first half of play. LC only had three guys score in the first half Ferris had five guys that dented the scoreboard and it's Ferris by one here at the intermission. And when you look at the GSL schedule for tonight, here are the games that were scheduled this evening. Pullman taking on Cheney and non league action for girls and boys. Riverside playing as West Valley girls and boys. Rogers at Moscow. All these non league games, girls and boys.

Also, if it's being played tonight, it's a two way game as North Central played last night. They're on the schedule at least at the start of the year to play again tonight at East Valley and we believe those games are taking place. And that would be a two way counting game. The Gonzaga prep girls are on the road at Clarkston tonight, what should be a whale whale of a game. And then Pullman is at North Central in wrestling this evening.

And Dave Nichols just reports in from the spokesman review that they've released their state berths in each classification now. And in the 2A in the GSL, one state. That's ridiculous. So you've got Clarkston and Deer park who are probably two of the best 2A girls teams in the state and only one's gonna get to go. How do they decide that?

Well, they'll decide it on the floor. No, but I mean not that in terms of. Oh yeah, I don't know how they do that. Yeah, that, that's ridiculousness. But at any rate, the GSL gets one Bertha State this year.

And so that's going to be quite a battle between those two teams. They're two really good teams and that's unfortunate because somebody's not going to get an experience that they should, they should get. So at any rate, that's news from Dave Nichols. I'm sure he'll be writing about that coming days review. I don't know if he'll get it in tomorrow, but it'll be there very shortly as that news just came out.

So the cheer team is still doing their thing. Actually, these are football players and guys that don't play basketball, wrestlers, whatever they may be student body members, whatever it is, but they're out there doing their. That's the kind of the tradition here where they got the football team that the guys that aren't playing basketball and get them out there and they do their own little routine. Which is kind of odd because you don't see a bunch of football players dancing all the time. They've got their athletes too.

Maybe not as rhythmatic as Most, but they can shake a move when they have to. Well, they were trying to do the Rockettes high kick. Yeah. Ouch. I just, I think about that and it hurts.

I could get to my knee, that'd be about the end of it. I might be able to my shoe about 4ft, but it wouldn't get very high. I can kick you in the knee, but the rest of you safe. So that's probably good news in some areas. So at any rate, the halftime continues here as the dancing continues and the spirit competition continues to go as well.

We said that LC was in orange shirts, now they're in black shirts. And Paris is in red behind us still. And so a costume change and now they've gone back to the black. So they've. They had the orange shirts on and now they've gone back to black shirts over there.

He can tell us more. But Prep defeated Clarkson 46, 44. North Sea beat East Valley by the score of 54 to 40 tonight. Pullman over Cheney 55, 52. Need over Northwest Christian this evening in boys play, Mount Spokane beat Doherty of Colorado.

And those games are our final and other games are going on. So we mentioned we were talking about this, but you're the expert on all this. What 12 way bid for the GSL this year. Yeah, you know, they'll have to glue over with the CWAC. So GSL could get 01 or two teams.

Oh, wow. Yeah. But the thing is in the GSL 2A girls side, there are three teams that are legitimately top 10 programs this year. When you're talking about Clarkson and Deer park. And I think West Valley is just as good.

So one of those teams are even possibly team of those teams are going to get left out of state. They're going to. All three of them could easily be in the top 10 in RPI at the end of the year. And two of them might not even make it to state. A lot is going to depend on the strength of the seawac and we're not going to know about that for a little while here until they get the RPI ratings going.

Right? Yeah. The thing is that Even though the GSL 2A plays as a 17 league with NC, they're technically a 3A school. So there are only six teams in the GSL and that gives them one and a half bids to state. So that means that they give that a blue over with the cwac.

But we see it tonight with Clarkston. They lose by two to Gonzaga Prep, a 4A school that played in the state championship game last year and with one of the best guards in the state in Cornwall. Right, exactly. So although she may not. Is she playing right now?

Is she. Her. She hasn't playing yet. But still, you know, that's a good Zaga Prep team that Clarkston took down to the end tonight. The other thing that I think is notable here Tonight is the Mt.

Spokane boys team. Maybe not, you know, what we've accustomed to years past with Tyson De Ganhart and some of those players, but they go to this, the Curtis Holiday Tournament and pull it out against a good Doherty team and they'll end up playing the host Curtis tomorrow night. So that's a good tournament showing for them. Yeah, very good of the GSL in a tournament like that against a good team now you get to play probably a better team tomorrow in Curtis. Right.

And I think we've seen in, in recent, recent memory, at least in the 10 years that I've been doing this, that the GSL3A is always really strong. Well, the GSA typical in basketball is strong, but the 3A is always really strong. It's going to be interesting this year on the girls side with Mead moving up. You know, who fills that, that balance there. Obviously CV coming down to 3A, you know, is the odds on favor but you know, Ridgeline is there and there's a couple of others that want to have that other bit there too.

So have you been following Ryan Lafferty of St. Thomas in Minnesota? You know, I have to be completely honest. I have a hard time keeping up with what I'm supposed to do. I like to check in on what I call my kids when they're playing at the other level.

I haven't had a chance to yet. I haven't been at every or haven't looked at every game that he's played. But he's been playing, he hasn't redshirted this year. So he's been out there playing off the bench some days. He's had some, some good success and other games he's playing like a true freshman out there.

But he is in the rotation. He's playing probably eight to 15 minutes a game. So that's good for him. Yeah, you know we saw it in his last couple of years. He's a kid at six four six four and a half with good handles.

Right. Those kids kids can play in college. Right away it's the kids that that are still that are growing into their bodies or maybe not as don't have to quite have to have the ball hand and skills against the bigger competition. But Ryan was always good with both hands. Yeah.

And I know Eli Williams and Maverick Sanders are both playing at Central and both in the rotation. Maverick starting I think for the second straight year and Eli's the bench player and that's a good play, good landing spot for both those players. You know there's couple of really good high quality motors. Obviously you know Eli we saw was able to take games over at times for NC in a good landing spot for him. I think there's some concern over how many fouls or timeouts. And so that's just the third foul on Hess. I think the officials, for whatever reason, he had five. And so Hess will be allowed to come back into the game here. He has just three.

Ready to bring it into the backcourt as Conklin gets it into Pearson. Pearson double teamed, gets it back to Conklin, gets it ahead now to Parch. Parch into the front court. Parch pulls up right side, skips it across left corner. Jensen back out to Pearson.

He'll retreat out on the left side. Chased by a double team bounce pass over to Conklin. Conklin being reached in on by a couple of players. And LC takes a few timeout as they were out of rhythm on offense. Would have had a hard time getting a shot off.

With eight on the shot clock. But again, young player, Hess is a freshman. That's his fourth foul. And he sends Pearson to the line at that point with eight. You got to play it out.

Here to decide who's going to win Chuck in 2024, will Ferris hang on for the second straight year and tie the overall series, or will LC get Chuck back?

Now, we do not have the public address miked here, so we'll do our best to turn up our mic so you can hear us cheer one way or another. Yeah, you'll hear a cheer one way or another, but that won't help anybody out as LC has gone to the sidelines to our right with their cheerleaders and their basketball team and their drill team. Yeah, 14 lead changes and 11 ties here in this ball game. And a lot of those lead changes came early on in this game as we were tied at two and then the teams exchanged leads.

Our fourth lead change of the game was a three point shot made by Baruque Wolenside Bet. And that made an 8, 6 game. Then a Cole Floyd 3 gave Ferris their biggest lead of the game at 11 to 6 in the first quarter. But LC rallied and tied the game at 11 at the end of the first quarter. They kept that going, took the lead early in the second quarter.

And it'd be a seven to nothing run. They took a 13 to 11 lead. Ferris tied the game at 13. We were tied at 16. LC ran five straight points, took a five point lead of their own at 21 16.

But back came Ferris. They tied it at 21. And at the half Ferris had a 23, 22 lead. LC jumped on top to start the third quarter. Ferris tied the game.

Ferris took a lead. LC tied it up. We were trading leads. We were tied at 24, 27, 29, 31. Ferris took a 32:31 lead in the ball game.

LC took the lead back at 34 to 32. And LC took the lead out to 39:33 in the second quarter of play. But back came Ferris to tie the game at 39. Ferris took their last lead in the game at 41:40 to start the fourth quarter of play. But LC got the lead back at 42:41.

And then we were tied at 44. And from that point it was all LC they outscored Ferris 14 to 5. Down the stretch they had a three point lead 47 to 44. And now we get to our play of the game. LC Clinging to a three point lead.

Why don't you go ahead and give us the rebounding and the okay so you can work on yourself all that stuff and I'll total up my stuff. That'll get you about three guys as quickly as I'm going to go anyway.

Lewis and Clark with the win, they did a nice job on the rebounding side. Their leading rebounder was was gain. He had 7, 5 by Jensen. That's 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22 total rebounds. Along those lines, 5 steals, 6 assists and 5 blocks.

They also had 17 turnovers as well. But just a nice job and they really came out in that fourth quarter, especially halfway through. Ferris did a pretty good job as well. They had 18 rebounds. So significant difference in rebounding between LC and Ferris.

They had eight steals. Dean and Robinson both had three steals each leading the team and there were five assists, no blocks, turnovers, 14 turnovers for Ferris and just had to take a lot of extra shots late, you know, three point shots to try to get back in the game. And that was really different. So leading rebounder was Dean with four and had three other players that had three rebounds. Roland Robinson and Floyd as well.

All right. In the scoring department. Guests gained 21 points to lead Lewis and Clark, the 67 sophomore forward with 21 in this one and 12 for Chase Parch, all in the second half. Eleven for David Conklin, five apiece for KJ Kincaid and Porter Pearson and four for Asher Jensen for LC's total of 58 for Ferris. Cole Floyd and Luke Rowland had 11 points each.

Eight for Baruque Wolensadbet, six points each for Boston Hess and Connor Dean, five for Balin Robinson and two points for Parker Dammel for Ferris. Total of 49. 7 rebounds. He added a steal and he also had four blocks. So he really changed a lot of shots in the paint tonight, made it tough for Ferris and was definitely the player of the game.
