All right, welcome back here Tacoma Dome as we get ready for game number eight on the evening in the foray. Well, game number four on the 4A girls side by game number eight of the day here as the Meat Panthers take on the Davis Pirates here this evening. And let's talk about the first game that we saw from the GSL today.

The Mount Spokane boys, great defensive performance against Monroe and a lot of Jadyn Gureshi. Yeah, you know, they only gave up 39 points total. So anytime you do that at a state basketball game, you're doing something. It wasn't the prettiest game. Neither team shot the ball particularly well, but Mt.

Spokane really gave them fits. They held Monroe's 67 forward to seven points and seven boards. So they said after the game that that was like that was one of their big priorities was stopping that kid and letting either the chips fall where they may. So they have to be pretty happy with that. And so they'll move on to a game tomorrow night against Bellarmine Prep starting at 5:30.

This game here is going to be a tough game for me. Davis is really good. Davis is really good. They got upset during the regional round which is why they're playing on Wednesday night. And you have to know Davis is going to have their backs arched tonight.

They're going to come into this game looking for blood. It's a tough draw for Meade. Obviously. Meade has become accustomed to playing on Saturday in this tournament the last three years. Not the same position for them this year.

So they've got their hands full tonight and then tomorrow two games at 10:30. So a nightmare for the radio guy and for the newspaper guy because you got two games going on at once. We'll talk about the Gonzaga Prep boys first as they take on Auburn. A battle of one versus two. Yeah, you know, only the WIAA can come up with a setup where one plays two in a quarterfinal.

And that's because Auburn, Auburn lost and had to play their way through as well. So you know that's going to be a really good ball game. I mean, you know, obviously One versus two that you could see that in the final. So, you know, Mount Spokane wants to keep the game in the 50s. You know, it's going to be 50 something something to 50 less and they want to be the 50 something on top of that.

So that's the way they played all year. If either team scores in the 60s tomorrow, I'll be surprised. And then Central Valley takes on Kennewick. I would assume that's a team they played this season at some point. Yeah, you know, I don't expect anybody to challenge Central Valley girls until the finals if then.

I mean, it's just, it's one of the most complete teams of any of the four classifications here. You know, they've got bigs, they've got guards, they play defense, they can score whenever they want to. And obviously they've got, you know, the, the gate, McDonald's all American and Bryn McGaughy very possibly could be the Gatorade player of the year in the state of Washington as well. I just don't see anybody challenging them until the weekend. All right, Dave will be here.

All right, welcome back. This portion of our pregame show brought to you by our friends at stcu. All right, so we've got Mead taking on Davis here. This is a rematch of a regular season game. It was Mead's first game, Davis's second game of the year and Davis came away with a 70 to 50 win in that ball game.

Issa Garcia, 28 points, she's a dynamite three point shooter. 42% this season set a school record. Better than 50% shooting from the field this season she's a five seven guard. They've got Cheyenne hall who is the MVP in the Columbia Basin Big Nine League this year. 22 points, 11 rebounds a game.

She's a six foot sophomore. And they have another double figure scorer in Avery Brandt, a sophomore. All three of these girls are sophomores. Hall, Garcia and Brandt are all sophomores. She averages Brandt 11 points a game and made 54 three pointers this season for Davis.

Mead also led by young players as of course their junior Addison Wells. Morrison leads them at better than 16 points a game and she has been playing very well in the postseason, averaging better than 20 points a game in their five postseason games and has all 13 three pointers made in those games as well. Needs going to need to be able to shoot from the three point line in this ball game against Davis, but they're also getting great performances here sheer from Ellie Thornton who's averaging 10 points and three and a half assists a game.

Well for this Mead Panther team. Gracie Wenkheimer almost nine a game, a very good three point shooter, but she's got a bad arm and we'll see if that affects her in this ball game shooting the basketball. Gets it to Thornton. She has the ball knocked away. They go to the floor. There'll be a jump ball and the alternating possession will go to Davis. We played 45 seconds and Meade has a 32 lead.

But one turnover here against this press. Dietz Parish with it out on the left side. Drives to a right to the foul line. Kick back. Here's a three pointer on the way.

That is short, no good by Avery Brandt. But the rebound picked up and put in by Hull. So Hull with four points and it's four three now in favor of Davis at midcourt. Spink gets it ahead to Morrison. 18 footer from the right side off the iron, no good.

She'll try to skip it cross court. Wells Morrison knocks it away off of Parrish, out of bounds. And Davis guilty of a turnover. Addison Wells. Morrison got her hand in the passing lane there, deflected the pass and it went off Parish on the way out of bounds.

So here's Ellie Thornton into the forecourt. She'll drive Parish to the foul line. Now retreat, look for somebody to feed it to. And gets it to Pacheci on the left side. She tries to pass it up top.

That's stolen away. Garcia one on one with Pacheci to the basket for a layup. That's good. Another turnover. Garcia with the steal in the basket.

21 to 5 now in favor of Davis. Here's a long lead. Pachichi forecourt, right side, kicks it out. Top of the key. Frederick now on the right to Thornton.

Fakes right, goes Left to the rim for a shot. No good. She is fouled. And we'll go to the line to shoot two here. Wow, what a frantic pace in this one.

And they get it into Parish underneath on the left side. She'll pivot into the lane now fade away for a 10 footer that won't go offensive. Rebound, though, taken by Parrish.

Dumps it inside Garcia for a layup. That's good. All the Mead players took off to the other end of the floor. They were all thinking somebody else was gonna rebound it. Nobody rebounded it.

Here's a drive by Thornton to the basket. Going down the left of the lane and is fouled by Parrish. That's the second foul on Parrish and the fourth team foul on Davis. Still 3:16 to play here in the quarter. So let's see if Meade can put some pressure on Davis here as far as pressure on them.

Wells Morrison behind the defense, off her hands, out of bounds, threw it a little too tall, too long. And Meade with yet another turnover here in the first quarter. They've got to be approaching 10 turnovers here in the quarter and we've only played 5 minutes and 10 seconds. Gracie Wenkheimer is in for Meade. Here's a long throw.

They beat the defense as Hull will go down and get an easy layup. It was full court pressure for Meade and nobody accounted for hall and she got behind and they just threw a baseball pass down to her and she laid it in. 27 to 8 now in favor of Davis. Thornton drives to her right against Garcia. Nice stop and go move.

Takes it in for a little five foot bank shot. That's good. Ellie Thornton a nice drive in a basket. 27 to 10 is the score. Here's Davis again on the run.

Pass off the hands of Brandt. Out of bounds. And Davis turns it over. I'm telling you what, they don't fiddle around any. They.

They get the ball and they go. And you better be running if you're the opposition or they're gonna beat you down the floor. Here's Thornton driving off to the right side. Gets a screen from Weinkheimer. Can't really get anywhere.

Has to feed it out to Wells Morrison. Wells Morrison starts to her left, Spins back inside the foul line. 12 footer swish Addison Wells. Morrison with her first basket of the game. Back to back hoops by Meade, 27 to 12.

Here's a three pointer put up by Garcia. I mean, they're only letting three or four seconds go off the shot clock. She missed it. Here's Wells Morrison coast to coast. Pulls up in the lane.

Six footer good. And one Hull. That will be her second foul. So Wells Morrison gets the basket. Nope, it's on Parrish.

That's her third. No, it is on Hull. It is on hole. Hull gets her second. So now Davis has a little foul trouble here into the game.

Paige Gosling. Here's the free throw. It is short. No good by Wells. Morrison off the front rim.

Rebound grabbed by Parish. Here comes Davis in a hurry. Craig down in the right corner. Kicks it out onto the wing to Brandt. Back to Craig again.

Now to Brandt. Playing up top. They'll readjust their offense here. Brant. They're down to 12 on the shot clock.

Has that happened yet today. Here's Parish off a screen to the rim for a layup. That's good. Nice play. And Dietz Parrish has four points.

2914 is the score. Long lead. Wells, Morrison to the rim for a layup. That's good. 29, 16.

Now, as this is a track meet here, I'm gonna need to stop for oxygen at some point. Here is Davis up into the forecourt. Garcia way out there, dribbling to the left side against Thoat. Pulls up on the wing, gets a screen, comes back to her right. Looked at the 3, throws it at the feet of the screener and the ball stolen away.

Here comes Spink down the middle of the floor. Three on three. Pivots around, feeds the trailer. Frederick. And she is fouled.

Got clobbered in the head by Craig, who was flying through the air coming down the floor. Frederick. Or check it, it's Thornton. I said Frederick, but it's Thornton 33, not 23. And so Craig gets her second foul.

So Davis. They've got foul trouble. Craig, hall and Parrish all with two fouls. Two free throws, Thornton first one off the back rim. No good.

She's three out of five now from the line in this game. 48 and 8, 10 seconds remaining here in the quarter. 29:16. Davis second free throw. That's good.

Thornton with six first quarter points. 27:19 is the score. Here comes Parish up into the forecourt, man to man. Defense gives to Brandt now, top of the key. Craig drives down the left, back out.

Brandt step back. Three over and off. No good from the right corner. Rebound will go out of bounds off Mead. It'll be Davis basketball.

Mead. They've got to go after the ball on the rebounds. They are so concerned with boxing their player, which you have to be, but at some point you also have to go after the ball. Here's the inbounds pass, and Parish with it out between the circles. Parrish wants to drive.

Does down the right of the lane. Almost falls down. Meade bench wanted a traveling call. Now to Brandt. Open three.

Missed it. Off the back rim again. A long rebound. And Davis comes up with another one. Too much standing around for meade.

Down to 10 seconds remaining in the quarter. Parish gives it to Brandt, now to Gosling, right wing up top. Here's a drive and bowling over a defender. And an offensive foul is called as Parish will get her third personal foul. So Parish driving bowled over a Meade defender.

Meade has 1. 6 seconds remaining in the quarter. Into the game, Jada Hernandez for Davis to replace Parish. So Davis in huge foul trouble right now. 29:17.

Mead got the first basket of the game, a three pointer by Reese Frederick. But then Davis ripped off 14 straight points before Caroline Spinks scored for me to cut the lead to 14 to 5 and then Davis added seven more points consecutively take the lead to 16 at 21 to 5. They up the lead to 19 at 27 to 8 and then Mead started a comeback and they closed it within 12 at the end of the first quarter of play at 29:17. A three pointer by Julie Thoat at the start of the second quarter moved the lead down to nine at 29:20 and it looked like maybe Mead had righted the ship and gotten back into the game. Well, not really.

Davis goes on a 10 to 2 run depth, the lead back to 17 at 39 to 22. They took it to 19 at 42:23, upped it to 21 at 46 to 25, then took it out to 23, then to 25 at 52:27 before Meade got a basket near the end of the half and it is Davis 52, Meade 29 at the intermission. Most points in a quarter 31 in State 4A tournament history. Davis got 29 in the first there, just off that most points in the game though 94 scored by Garfield all the way back in 1983. So there you go.

Davis out rebounded me 21 to eight in this game. Davis had 11 offensive rebounds. Mead had two defensive rebounds subme to Davis's 11 offensive rebounds in this ballgame. Turnovers 12 on me on Mead and eight on Davis. Points off turnovers 13 to seven edge for Davis.

Second chance points 18 to four in favor of Davis. That's a huge difference here in this ball game. All right. Individually for Meade, they were led by Reese Frederick. She scored 10 in the first half, eight for Addison Wells Morrison, six for Ellie Thornton, three points for Julie Thoat, two for Caroline Spink for Mead's total of 29 for Davis.

They end Mead season at 17 and eight as Davis a just a slow but steady. Well, I don't know how slow it was, it was pretty darn fast. But they just kind of pulled away from Meade and they win it tonight, 81 to 58.

Here's the game recap presented by SWX and KHQ. Mead had the early lead in this one. A Reese Frederick 3 put him on top. But they couldn't hang on to that lead. Davis, 14 consecutive points, took a 143 lead.

A Caroline Spink basket broke that stretch. But then Davis started again with another seven consecutive points. They ran the lead out to 16 at 21 to 5, took it to 17 at 25 to 8 and let it still 29 to 14 when Mead started to run. Actually let's. That run started even earlier.

It started at 27 to 8. It was a 9 to 2 mead run and they closed within 12 at the end of the first quarter at 29:17. A three pointer by Julie Tho to start the second quarter of play. Mead was within nine and it looked like they might have a chance to come back here in this ball game. But they just couldn't get any rebounds.

They couldn't stop. They early on turned the ball over a bunch. Then they kind of shut that down to where they weren't turning it over as much. But they still couldn't get any offensive rebounds. A big run by by Davis, a 10 to 2 run.

They took the lead to 17 at 39 to 22. They kept it going, got it up to 19 at 42 to 23. Took it to 21 at 46 to 25. Led by 25 at 52 to 27 before Mead scored before the end of the half. It was 52:27 Davis at the intermission.

Then they kind of slowed the game down, took the press off and still were able to keep Meadow at arm's length. Mead cut it to 20 and then got it to 18 at 54 to 36. Davis took it back out to 21 again. Mead cut to 17 on a Wenkheimer three at 61 to 44. And the quarter ended with Davis holding a 63 to 44 lead.

They hit three three pointers in the fourth quarter of play, took the lead to 72 to 46. Mead cut the lead to 21 at 74:53. It was still a 22 point game at 78 to 56. And this play will be our play of the game because we have to have one. We didn't know what to choose.

They make only four out of 23 pointers but their two point shooting was 19 out of 28 in this ball game which is pretty good. Pretty good accuracy there. They make it out of 14 free throws in the ball game. Davis though 31 out of 60 from the field for 52%. They make 8 out of 27 three pointers.

So they made 23 out of 33 two pointers in the ball game. 11 out of 13 for Davis from the foul line. So they missed two on the foul line here in this ball game. Rebounding 40 for Davis to 19 for me. 21 offensive rebounds for Davis to nine defensive rebounds for me.

I don't know if I've seen anything like that in a ball game before. That was. That was a killer for this Meade team. And Davis got 30 points off those second chances they got. If they didn't make any threes out of that, they converted 15 of their 21.

If they made a couple of threes out of that then they made like converted on 13 or 14 or whatever it was. Out of the 21 offensive rebounds. 16 turnovers for both teams in this ball game. But Davis scored 21 points off turnovers to Meads, 12 points off turnovers in this ball game. Individually, Addison Wells Morrison a good game.

Eight out of 14 shooting. She scores 18 points in this ball game. Four in double figures for Meade, 13 for Reese Frederick 12 for Julie Thoat and 10 for Ellie Thornton in this one, three for Gracie Wenkheimer and two for Caroline Spink for Meade's total of 58 for Davis.

They were led by Cheyenne hall, the player of the year in the Columbia Basin Big Nine this year. So Morrison 18 points, three rebounds, an assistant, two steals and a block shot as she played 30 minutes in the ball game.
