We're at Central Valley High School this evening for girls basketball as the number one team in 3A in the state of Washington. The Central Valley Bears put their undefeated record this year 4 and oh in the GSL 15 and oh overall on the year, up against a very good Gonzaga prep team who comes into this ballgame with just a 2 and 2 conference record and overall in the season they are at 10 and 5.

So that is our matchup here this evening. The matchup maybe has lost a little bit of luster here this evening because of the injuries that Gonzaga Prep has had to deal with this year. They have not had Ayla Cornwall throughout the season as she's been out with an injury. They're hoping that she may come back when you get to, you know, district or regional playoffs or obviously for the state tournament. But then you know, how much condition is she going to be in, etc.

Etc. Having not played all year long. So prep has been hurt with that. They have also been hurt with an injury to Olivia McIntyre. McIntyre is back.

She came back a couple of games ago but she is still not performing at 100%. And in this ball game for Central Valley they're without Eden Sander. They have spent much of this year without Dre Dumbo. But now Dumbo is back. But it's Sandra that's out and injured and she will not be able to play in this ball game tonight.

So Central Valley will be missing one of their top players, Gonzaga Prep missing one of their top players and another one of their top players is injured and not performing at 100% here in this ballgame. So CV putting a lot on the line here in this ball game. They've got the best player in the gsl. I don't think I'm insulting too many people when I say that with Bryn McGaughy, she this season is averaging nearly 18 points per ballgame, actually a little over 17 points per ballgame for this team. She's going to the University of Washington next year. She is a fantastic player and she's going to have to shoulder even more of the load tonight without Eden Sanders for Gonzaga Prep.

Olivia McIntyre is back, but they've got some other girls. They're going to have to step up and play well for them. Laura Thompson is one, Gwen Peterson is another that are going to have to take a little bit bigger role here on this team for this ball game here tonight and in all likelihood for the rest of the season.

Let's take a look at the GSL standings on the girls side going into play this evening. We'll start with a 3A 4A standing Central Valley, Ridgeline, Mead all deadlocked at 40 at the top of the conference. Then you've got Gonzaga Prep in a tie with University and Ferris at 2 and 2. Lewis and Clark in Mt. Spokane are both 1 and 3.

Cheney and Schadl are both 0 4. So when you want to split this off to 3A 4A, you've got Mead. Since Gonzaga Prep's a 4A school, we'll concentrate on 4A. Right now you've got Mead at 4 0, Prep at 2 and 2, Ferris at 2 and 2 and LC at 1 and 3. What Prep is trying to do is stay ahead of Ferris.

They have not played Ferris yet in the league game so they want to stay ahead or stay ahead of them to get that second place into districts coming up in a few weeks. On the 3A side, Seabee and Ridgeline are both at 4, 0 and they're headed for a big meeting coming up in about three weeks time in the GSL. Also in girls basketball on the 2A you've got Deer park at 6 and oh, Clarkston at 4 and 1, Pullman at 4 and 2, then West Valley at 3 and 3, North Central's 2 and 4, East Valley 1 and 4 and Rogers is 0 and 6 going into play this evening.

Moving to boys basketball Prep on top at 4 and oh and the 4A 3A side of things. Mead, Mt. Spokane, CV all at 3 and 1. That makes the boys game coming up here a very big game. Gun Saga, Prep at 4 and oh, Central Valley at 3 and 1.

Even though Prep's for a second CB3A when you're talking about a regular season championship, this game has a lot of importance as well as just for the 3A because right now CV and Mount Spokane are tied at 3 and 1 on the season. Mount Spokane lost to Clap earlier this week and CB will get their chance against the Bullpups tonight. Ferris, Ridgeline, U High all 2 and 2, Lewis and Clark at 1 and 3, Cheney at 0 and 4 and Shadow park is 0 and 4. 2A. Boys side West Valley 6 and OH Pullman 5 and 1, North Central 4 and 2, Clarkston 2 and 3, Rogers 2 and 4, East Valley 1 and 4 in Deer park is 06.

We've seen them at some of the other gyms in the GSL this year as well.

Great addition to each of these gyms that are participating in this whole situation. So Jeff Hardy spent 15 years here at CV before moving to Gonzaga Prep to take over after his father retired he his team. They're gonna have to figure out a way to stop McGoy tonight. McGaughy can play anywhere on the basketball floor. She can play point guard, she played underneath the basket, but she's the only player in this game over six feet tall, so she's probably going to spend the majority of her time under the basket.

Prep has some size. They've got three players at five'11, another at five'10, a couple more at five'9, but nobody six'3. So you're gonna have to figure out not only a way to stop her in the post, but a way to rebound the basketball here because McGaughy can go get rebounds and she's a very good rebounder. Now, CV does not have their Energizer Bunny tonight, and Eden Sander, who's a fantastic defensive player, also gets the ball out in transition and can run and does a lot of things along those lines. So they've got to figure out who's going to take over that role and who's going to take over some of the offense because Sander is a second leading scorer on this team.

So you could put a little bit more on McGaughys back there, but I think probably they're going to need a little bit more maybe from Keanu Ghosni. Dre Dumbo is back and, you know, maybe she'll have a big game tonight. Gabby Wilson has had some big games for this team and it's a very good three point shooter. Had seven in their last game on Tuesday night. So how do you make up for the offense you lose from Sandra, maybe more importantly, how do you make up for it on the defensive end of the floor because she is a fantastic defensive player.

They scored the last five points of the first quarter of play, including a three pointer at the very three point play, I should say a two point basket and a foul that turned into a free throw by Quinn Peterson and The game was 15 to 12 after the first quarter of play in favor of Central valley.

In the second quarter, CV scored the first five points of the quarter. A three by Dre Dumbo made it a 20 to 12 ball game. Back came Gonzaga Prep. Six straight points capped by a Laura Thompson field goal. Cut the lead to two at 20 to 18.

CV answered. They scored six straight points. A basket by Bryn McGaughoy put them back on top 26 to 18, but CV scored six straight points again when Peterson scored a basket. Cut the lead to two at 26:24 but the last six points. So they everybody they were the teams were trading six point runs there in the second quarter.

Essentially Prep got a five point run to start the quarter. Then the Rather CV had a five point run to start the quarter. Then Prep gets a six point run, CV gets a six point run, Prep gets a six point run and we end the quarter with a six point run by CV and they have a 3,224 lead here at the intermission. Bryn McGaughy 16 points to lead CV. She scored half their points.

They were led by Bryn McGaughy. She had 16 points in the game, six field goals including a three pointer and three out of four from the foul line. Eight points for Gabby Wilson. She had two threes after having seven in her last ball game. In their in their last victory on Tuesday night.

Six points for Dre Dumbo on a couple of threes and two points for Keanu Gosney against cv playing without Eden Sander who has a broken finger on her left hand and she's going to be out for a It'll be interesting to see if she is going to be healthy to play for the Mead game coming up, which could be a big loss for for CV when they play Mead and then Ridgeline after that toward the end of the regular season. A lot of it's just going to be pain tolerance as we understand, but she's still got to get through here the first couple of weeks, one would think so that is the individual scoring for CV for Prep. Only four players score for them. 2. Laura Thompson had nine including their only three pointer of the game.

She was two out of four from the foul line to go with her three field goals in the game. Seven points for Quinn Peterson in this one, six for Olivia McIntyre, two for Carol Wilson. Foul trouble McGaughy played most of that second quarter with two fouls. She picked up her second fairly early in the quarter. There's more than five minutes remaining, but she was able to negotiate the rest of the half without picking up her third.

Carol Wilson for Gonzaga Prep picked up her second near the end of the half. She went out of the game, but McGaughy playing all that time without picking up her third foul. That may be one of the keys to this ballgame. Seabee had a 15 to 12 lead after the first quarter. They outscored Prep 17 to 12 in the second quarter.

They've got an eight point lead at the intermission. By the score of 32 to 24, the standings in the GSL 3A 4A girls look like this. Central Valley, Ridgeline and Mead are all four and OH at the top of the conference. Gonzaga Prep with Ferris and U High all tied at 2 and 2. Lewis and Clark Mount Spokane are at 1 and 3, Cheney and Shadow Parker at O and 4.

CV still led by eight at 15 to 7. But the last five points of the first quarter scored by Gonzaga Prep, including a three point play by Quinn Peterson. As the quarter ended and it was 1512 in favor of Central Valley. The teams traded runs in the second quarter. A place.

CV scored five, took an eight point lead at 20 to 12. Prep scored six straight, cut it to two at 20 to 18. CV scored six straight, led by eight, 26:18. But here came Prep with six more points, cut the lead 26:24 on a hoop by Quinn Peterson. Begun Zaga Prep, or rather Central Valley I should say, scored the last six points of the quarter and they led it by eight at the intermission, 32 to 24.

They cut it to five early in the third quarter on three different occasions. The last coming at 38, 33. And we have come to our play of the game, which may not have been the most important play of the game, but it was the play of the game, the highlight of this ball game. And it comes courtesy of Adams. Tractor scoops up a left handed shot.

No good rebound. Dumbo here she comes back the other way. Three on three. Dre Dumbo to the free throw line underneath McGaughoy. Oh, what a play.

A lob to McGaughy and she put it in with one hand, her right hand while she was getting knocked to the ground on the play. What a beautiful fast break. Dumbo to McGaughy. The foul called and McGaughy will go to the line to try to complete a three point play here. Well, she could not do that.

The lead was only seven. Seavey cut it back to five or other. Prep cut it back to five again at 42:35 and again at 45, 40. But they trailed 47:40 at the end of the third quarter of play as Central Valley got the last basket there of the quarter and they started the fourth quarter with the first seven points so they really a nine point run for Gonzaga Prep.

They took the lead to 14 on a McGaughy basket 54 to 40 and they were able to hold Gonzaga Prep at arm's length. From there on they took the lead out to 20 points 65 to 45 again at 67 to 47 and they win it tonight by the score of 72 to 58.
