2in the GSL 2A race take on the East Valley Knights who are looking to spoil things for the Highlanders tonight. East Valley just 1 and 4 in conference play, 2 and 6 overall in the season along with Cole Carstetter, Larry Ware from Wynn Spokane Stadium downtown for Shadow Park. Right now they are tied for third in the GSL two way race. Only two teams get into the postseason. Clarkston has clinched a spot.

They are 5:1. They are done with their schedule. They'll play a non league game tomorrow so we know they're 5 and 1. They'll be in there. There's West Valley at 4 and 1, Rodgers at 32 and Shadl is at 3 2.

If West Valley loses tomorrow and Schadl wins tonight and Rogers wins tomorrow night. There's a three way tie. Everybody would have beaten each other. West Valley would have beaten Shadl. Schadl would have beaten Rodgers.

Rodgers would have beaten West Valley. So we would have a Kansas tiebreaker here on, I think it's either Monday or Tuesday night. They would do that Kansas tiebreaker and then decide who moves on as the second team out of the GSL two way race into the postseason. So Schadl needs to win this game tonight, then hope for the West Valley loss and they need Rogers to win as well because if Rogers doesn't fall in that tie, two way tie between West Valley and Shadl. West Valley beat Shadl so West Valley would move on.

So both Shadl. Shadl needs a three way tie. Rodgers does not. Rodgers is pulling for Shadow to lose tonight and then West Valley to lose. Then if they win, they would be the number two seed.

So it's all convoluted. Cole, as we get ready. You, you didn't have to deal with that too much at Ferris because you guys were usually dominating the competition. Yeah, no, typically we were kind of, you know, in the driver's seat, similar to where West Valley was tonight or is this week as far as controlling our own destiny. But yeah, that's, that's what makes play, you know, playoff football fun.

You're starting to really feel that weather now. It's, it's getting colder, the snow's starting to fall, you know, and you, you never know how teams are going to adapt. The weather's been great, you know, up until this point, but as it gets colder, it'll be fun to see what happens, you know, in tonight's game with Shadow Park. And then tomorrow it's going to be equally as cold for Rogers in West Valley as well. And this is really the first time that we've had to deal very much with weather.

Even last week's games were pretty comfortable. Yeah, no, it was definitely comfortable. I was down on the other side outside and you know, you didn't even have to put a jacket on until the fourth quarter. So yeah, this definitely is starting to feel more like fall. It's here, you know, you got playoff weather.

They started their season with wins over Timberlake and Riverside. Then they lost their first conference game, their first league game to West Valley by the score of 137 ripped off. Then four straight wins defeating North Central, an overtime win against Rodgers, a win against Pullman. Then they shut out Colville before losing to Clarkston at Clarkston in their last game by the score of 41 to 23. In that game their quarterback Kaden Hooper threw two touchdown passes to their top receiver Jacob Boston.

And their number one running back Nick Tilton ran for a touchdown in that ballgame as well. But they allowed 41 points to Clarkston which was the most that Schedel is allowed in any game this season. East Valley comes in with a mark of 2 and 6 overall in the season 1 and 4. In the GSL two way race they lost their opening three games. They lost to two non conference games to Deer park and Lakeside before losing a conference game to Clarkston.

Then they defeated Bonners Ferry in a non league game, lost to West Valley, beat North Central, lost to Rogers. And last week they lost to Pullman by the score of 41 to 26. In that ballgame their outstanding athlete Diesel Wilkinson, he had 10 carries for 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns plus seven receptions for 89 yards and another touchdown. So that's 17 catches or 17 touches I should say on offense, Cole 219 yards. That's 12 to 13 yards per time he touches the ball.

Now that doesn't count any kickoff or punt returns he might have. This is a dangerous young man. Yeah, definitely a talented young man at that. You know he can do just about everything. He's, he's quick, you know, he can jump real well.

You know, he high points the ball. I've seen a couple clips of him on film going to getting the fade ball. He outruns people on the jet sweeps, he hurdles individuals coming up the middle and so he can do just about anything out here on the football field. And I think that's what the Highlanders are really going to Focus on tonight is getting two guys, you know, keyed in on him because the only way, and not the only way, but one of the ways that they're really going to, you know, stop the Knights this evening is to shut down number 24.

Yeah. Slow him down. If nothing else, if you can't shut him down, you got to slow him down a little bit because he is so dangerous. And on defense, he plays strong safety and it doesn't mind hitting people either in that position. And that's.

As a former safety yourself, you appreciate that, I'm sure. Oh, yeah, no, definitely appreciate it. They need him, you know, to. They ask so much of him, right. And he's always happy to answer the bell, but, you know, know they need him to cover their best receiver.

They need him, you know, to be able to run the ball, to return, you know, kicks, to punt the ball. So they demand a lot of him. But, you know, he's definitely, you know, answered the call when his numbers been, you know, rang by the coaches. So it is senior night here for Shadow Park High School. They've got all their seniors out here with family members and they are introducing everybody prior to the start of this game.

Not a ton of seniors on this SHADL team. This is a very young team with a lot of their players coming back next season. So that's something that we'll keep an eye on them for this 2024 football season upcoming. When we come back, we will have more here from One Spokane Stadium in downtown Spokane. Let's take a look at the standings on the 2A side of things. Clarkston 5 and 1 West Valley 4 and Rodgers and Shadow Park 3 and 2 Pullman 2 and 3 East Valley 1 and 4 North Central 05 tonight. Obviously this game here. The other games will be contested tomorrow. West Valley at Pullman.

If they win West Valley they are in to the 2A playoffs and both the GSL representatives will have next weekend off. They will not play in the two way and then they will start play in the second week of November. Also tomorrow 7:30 game here at 1 Spokane Stadium. Rogers plays North Central and then the non league game. Clarkston will host Grandview on the 3A 4A side tonight here at One Spokane Stadium.

The second game of the night it will be Gonzaga Prep taken on Lewis and Clark that will follow this. We will not have radio coverage of that game. Then tomorrow Mount Spokane is at Mead U High at CV, Ridgeline is at Ferris. That's the 5 o' clock game tomorrow here at One Spokane Stadium. Then Cheney will host Eisenhower in the non league game standings look like this.

Gonzaga Prep 7 and oh they are the overall champions. They are the number one seed. 4AMount Spokane at 6 and 1. They are the number one seed for 3A Ridgeline 5 and 2. They're the number two seed on the 3A side.

Then Mead 3 and 4, Lewis and Clark and Central Valley are tied at 3 and 4 and that's for the number two spot in the foray. If LC beats Prep and U High beats CB tomorrow, then LC will be the number two seed and move on into the playoffs. If anything else happens, if Prep wins Tonight or if LC wins but CV wins, then CV will be the number 2 seed because they beat LC earlier this year. Jake Gallagher a senior and Logan Eiley, a junior are the ends Dean Deakins a junior, Mason Watt a sophomore, Miguel Rodriguez a junior. Of the linebackers corners, Titan Nesbitt a senior, Taren Fields, a sophomore. Safeties Hunter Anderson a senior and Diesel Wilkinson a senior. Foreshadow park, coached by Jim Mace. They have Sam Pasisi at center.

Their guards are Nolan Diedrich and Colson Groat. And the tackles are Carson Eichstad and Braden Bergener. The wide receivers, Tyler Yager, Jacob Boston, who's their leading receiver, and Nehemiah Whipped. Their running backs are Chase Hendren and Nick Tilton and the quarterback is Caden Hooper. And a fair amount of those players that I listed for Shadow park, they don't designate them on their starting sheet, but a lot of these guys are juniors.

And then defensively they go out of the 4, 2, 5. Chase Hendren, Carson Eichstad, Sam Pasisi and Damian Wickman are across the front. So three two way starters, except for Wickman there. Their two linebackers are Alex Comelo and Tyler Yager. And the defensive backs are Jacob Boston, Nick Tilton, Jacob Hernandez, Ladamian Tuola and Arias Eswini.

So East Valley won the toss, they've elected to receive and they will be moving from south to north or from right to left as we look at it here at One Spokane Stadium.

As we Are getting set to go. Cole Carstetter, Larry Ware, Steve Pryor, producer engineer in the studios of 700 ESPN across the street as we get ready for this one, looking forward to seeing the very explosive Diesel Wilkinson. Now will Shadle park kick it to him because he is back deep. I think if they're wise, they should probably, you know, steer clear of him, you know, especially to start off the game. You know, East Valley, you know, no matter what you do tonight, last game of the season, these kids are going to come out.

You know, they've spent a lot of time in the offseason working out, watching film, you know, anything can happen. I think that both teams are going to play pretty hard tonight, but yeah, I would probably steer clear. Clear of number 24, decent diesel Wilkinson on the opening kickoff. Shadow park has a pretty good kicker in Memphis Lake and so we'll see how far he tries to kick it here. Back deep to receive.

Along with Wilkinson, the other deep man for East Valley is Titan Nesbitt. They're starting running back. Our kickoff is being presented by Papa Murphy's Pizza. Change the way you pizza. And so here's Lake.

Just a little two step and a little pop up kick. This is going to be grabbed at the 30 yard line. They'll bring it up the right side and taken down at about the 36 or 7 yard line is Anderson Hunter, the up back, a wide receiver. And so East Valley will start out pretty good field position at their own 35. And we saw right away Cole, they didn't want to test either Mr.

Wilkinson or Mr. Nesbitt. Well, they already need enough help, you know, from West Valley tomorrow night. They don't want to, you know, lessen their chances in any sort of way possible. So they're going to rely on their 4, 2, 5, that secondary that consists of five cornerbacks and safeties to shut him down tonight.

Wilkinson the inside receiver, a three receiver split to the left, ball on the right hash Mark Wilkinson in motion toward the formation. Now he'll stop, get a handoff coming back the other way to the left side, gets to the outside to the 40 and dives close to the 45. Officials will put him right on the 45 and that'll be a Damon Orthodontics. First down and a pick of a 10 for Diesel Wilkinson. They motioned him from the left side through to the right.

Then he stopped and came back to the left and that's when they handed it off to him. So a little misdirection there. Now Wilkinson will be the wildcat quarterback, he's got a running back with him in the backfield and four wide receivers. They fake it to one man, then they'll pitch it on the option running to the right side and beautifully done by Shadow Park. That was the running back who plays defensive back Nick Tilton, who played that option pitch very well as Wilkinson pitched it to Nesbitt for a three yard loss.

So that time Nesbitt was lined up as a slot receiver and coming around to the right side and they just ran speed, option and a great job by Tilton to stay home and make the defensive play loss actually a four on the play. Second down and 14 now and they will run it. Wilkinson hit in the backfield, he will not get back to the line of scrimmage. Being run backwards by a number of Highlanders there as they in on that stop for Shadow park was Damian Wykman along with Chase Hendren. But another loss of two yards back to the 39.

Yeah, and they were looking to send a message there. You know, the drove him back 15 yards after, you know, the referees blew the whistle so they understand, you know, the competitiveness of the game tonight and what's on the line. So they're really looking to send a message to 24. Three receivers split to the left side again with Wilkinson the inside receiver on third and 16 now. Now Wilkinson will move and he'll become the outside receiver here.

So third and 16 for the knights. Running out of time on the play. Clock out of the shotgun fields. The quarterback will take the snap just in time, fade back, throw a little screen for Wilkinson into the middle of the field, hit behind the line by Hendren and put down at the 35 yard line. So another four yard loss, three straight plays for loss by the Shadow defense and it'll be punting time here for West Valley.

So another loss of yardage there and so it'll be fourth down and 20. We have a penalty on west on East Valley that was declined. And so East Valley will punt it away and Diesel Wilkinson will do that. And back deep to receive is Jacob Boston who's standing inside his 40 yard line here. 10:07 remaining to play here in the first quarter.

Scoreless game. First punt of the game, high snap, Wilkinson goes up the ladder and boots a line drive downfield to the near sideline, sits down the 45, bounces inside the 35, rolls down to the 30 and it'll be killed there right at the 30 yard line. And so that is a punt of 35 yards with no return and Now Shadow park will get the ball for the first time in this game at their own 30. So East Valley got 1, 1 first down and then they ended up having to punt with three consecutive plays. That lost yardage.

Total of 10 yards on those three plays. And now the Highlanders get it. Ball on the right hash at their own 30. They have four wide receivers, two to either side. Hooper the quarterback and Boston behind him in the pistol formation.

Hooper five yards behind the line and two yards behind him is the running back Tilton. And Tilton gets the call. No, it's Hooper getting the call outside on the left side. Over the 40, out to the 45 and is brought down as it gets to to the 47 yard line. So a good job to read the defensive end, Cole and the 17 yard pickup and the Damon Orthodontics.

First down. Yeah, that end for the Knights. Crash down on the dive play. Hooper did a good job at staying patient, baiting him in there, whipping it out for a 16 yard gain up our left hash. So first down and 10 up their own 48 now for Shadow Park.

Two men again split to either side. Same formation. They've got the pistol in the backfield. Hooper the quarterback. Four men down in the line for East Valley.

They're taking a lot of time off the clock. Hooper will hand it this time to Tilton. Bounces outside on the right, crosses the 50, lowers his shoulder into a defender and drives Forward to the 46 yard line for a gain of six yards there. It'll bring up second down and four. Trying to see who that was in the secondary that made that play for East Valley.

I think it was. Well, I'm not sure who it was. This number is all balled up there under his jersey. I think it's Anderson Hunter that made that play. So again a six for Tilton.

Second down and four ball on the right hash. Again two receivers split to either side and they fake the handoff. Keeping it as Hooper, breaking tackles, has a first down as he gets down to the 40 yard line before he is brought down. Diesel Wilkinson was there for East Valley. Also Logan Eiley and on the stop.

But another six yard pickup that time for Hooper. And another first down for Shadow Park. Yeah, similar to kind of what we talked about pre game here, they're going to definitely try to establish a tone on the ground, you know, and see if East Valley can really match, you know, their physicality up front and their athleticism on the edge.

So first and 10 for the Highlanders. Clock running 8. 10 remaining to play. First quarter in a scoreless game. Shadow at the East Valley 40.

Again, same formation, two wide receivers to either side. Pistol in the backfield. Four players up on the line for now. Five on the line for East Valley. Back to throw it as Hooper throws deep down the right side and overthrew his man incomplete.

And he just put it too much on the line that time. Looking for Jacob Hernandez down the right sidelines. If you put a little air on that ball, Cole let Hernandez run under. It's probably a touchdown. Yeah, he did a good job at creating separation from his corner back there.

But, you know, Hooper still, you know, coming off two runs, maybe a little adrenaline, you know, first quarter hasn't really settled down. Just put a touch too much on that ball. Over through his receiver by a yard or two. Boston, their leading receiver with Hernandez split to the right side. Two more men split to the left here.

Second and ten, Shadel Parik at the east valley 40. Now a shotgun formation and they will take it to Tilton. Hooper keeps it, gets hit in the backfield and struggles forward and will lose yardage there. Nice job by East Valley. I think it was Dean Deakins, the linebacker, came in there and made first contact.

And Hooper is stopped at the 41 for a loss of a yard. So now it'll be third and 11 for Shadow park at the East Valley 41. Yeah, go ahead. I'm sorry. Yeah.

And this is exactly, you know, what East Valley needs to do, you know, to continue to put pressure on the Highlanders. Get them in third and longs, force them to throw the ball, get them, you know, off schedule as far as, you know, not establishing that run game, forcing them to air it out, you know, to beat them. So third and 11 now at East Valley 41. They go back to the pistol, four wide, two to either side, and flags fly as they're out of time. That's going to be a false start or delay a game.

It'll be delay a game on Shadow Park. Our first penalty of the contest against the Highlanders. And so now instead of third and 11, now you're third and 16 gets. In all likelihood, it could be two down territory here for him, but they need a gain of. They need to get inside the 40, probably.

Yeah, definitely looking to at least get seven yards back right here, you know, whether they, they stick with it on the ground. If Hooper tries to, you know, carry it out himself or pass it. Yeah, they're looking to get half the distance back right here. So on third and 16 out of the pistol, Hooper wants to throw to the right sidelines and his man's tripped and fell down. Boston came out of his break and he stumbled and went down.

Otherwise, that may very easily have been a completed pass as Boston just tripped and fell down. The ball lands out of bounds incomplete. So now it'll be fourth down and they're going to have to punted away. Unfortunate situation there. I think that might have been a completion had Boston been able to keep his feet.

Yeah, that, that new turf is a little spongy, but there's no excuses. You know, they've had a couple games under their belt here, but just lost his footing. Good throw by Hooper there to, you know, kind of find the open receiver, but just, just miss. Led his target just slightly. Memphis Lake punting.

Diesel Wilkinson stands at his 10. And now we have a man in the neutral zone for East Valley. That's going to cost them five yards. Probably not enough to change the decision for Shadow, but yeah, it is. Here comes the offense back out onto the field.

So that is a huge five yard penalty on East Valley because now Shadow's going to bring their offense back out on the field even though it's 4th and 11. So interesting move there. One of the Highland, one of the Knights ended up in the neutral zone there. And so Shadow deems at the 41, close enough to go for it here on 4th and 11 at the East Valley 41. Excuse me.

Again, just. Just a critical mistake right there. Two wide receivers to either side out of the shotgun. Hooper claps his hands, takes the snap, rolls to the right side, looking to the sidelines, throwing to the sidelines. Boston out of bounds, incomplete.

Let him too far into the sidelines there. So that'll be a turnover on downs here by Shadow Park. Yeah, that penalty didn't end up costing him, but, you know, I hope that number, number 68, David, goes back to the sidelines and is able to kind of regroup, you know, flush that. Flush that mistake and get back on track because, you know, we can't. The East Valley Knights can't have that many mistakes if they want to come out victorious tonight.

And so they probably did them a little bit better even, because I doubt they'd have had the ball at their own 41 at the end of all this. So the Knights with it, their own 41, first down and 10, scoreless game. We have 622 remaining, first quarter. Fields out of the gun. Brings a man in motion toward the formation now through to the right side.

Nesbitt, the running back with Fields. Nesbitt Gets the call off the right side. He will get out to the 45 yard line before he is tossed down by Nick Tilton after a gain of about four yards. And so Nesbitt gets a four yard pickup. It'll be second down and six now.

And I think the Knights are going to really need, you know, others to help Diesel tonight. You know, he needs somebody to take the pressure off him because at times they're going to need him, but they need somebody else to sprinkle in a little flavor. On second and six, they hand it to Nesbitt this time off the left side. He will burrow forward and get close to the midfield stripe. He stopped a yard short.

Taken down by Hendren after a gain to the 49. Four more yards and so now it's going to be third down and two for East Valley. They're right back to the line of scrimmage here. Wilkinson splits to the right side and wide to the left side. They've got Connor Nicholson.

Two tight ends are in the game for East Valley as they have Logan Eiley in there along with Corey Stevens or Casey Stephens, rather. Excuse me. And they go out of the pistol formation with Fields the quarterback, Nesbitt behind him. Now two players are in motion at once, but the they both set up so it's a legal play. Hand it to Nesbitt off the left side.

Kind of poked his way into the hole and then his run backwards as two Highlanders come out of there. Tyler Yager and Jacob Hernandez. No gain on the play. So now it's 4th and 2 for East Valley. What does coach Fisher do here?

I think you got to go for it here, Larry. You know, they, they had some success on the ground. The running back just needs to stay a little bit more patient on that counter play, let his blocks develop, find some sort of open hole. They have enough guys at the point of attack. Just be a little bit more patient on this 4th and 2.

So 4th down and 2 now out of the shotgun formation. Fields takes the snap. He'll run it himself to the right side. Cuts up field and struggles forward. I don't know that he got there.

I don't think he did. Not going to get it here, you know, got a yard, was fighting hard, but Schadl did a good job. Looks like it was number 26 for the Highlanders. Yep. And Alexandra Cornello.

Yeah, Cornello did a good job scraping across the top, you know, tackling him at the line of scrimmage and fighting him, you know, just for a one yard game. So a four and out for East Valley. Shadow park will take over now at midfield. No score. Still 429 remaining to play here in the first quarter.

So first down and 10, pistol formation, four wide receivers. And they'll run option to the right side. And the pitch is behind Tilton and he'll fall on it back at the 40 yard line. Getting close. There was Jake Gallagher trying to get to it to recover it, but Tilton doing a good job and he didn't muff it.

But a loss of 10 on the play. Yeah, good job just to jump on it right there. Knew that he had guys in pursuit coming behind him, you know, just diving on it, you know, saving the ball, saving the possession is going to be better, you know, in the event that they have to punt it down the field here.

And two downs. So second and 20 now for the Highlanders. They've got Boston along the Yager split to the right side. And two men are wide to the left here. And now the running back, Tilton moves up as a wing to the left side.

And they'll run a little counter to the right side. And a little hole for Hooper. He's across the 50 and down to the 47 of East Valley. A good run, 13 yards to make it third and manageable here. Now for for Shadow park.

It looked like they emptied the backfield. Like they throw in a designed run, goes to the right side. And a big gain for Hooper. Yeah, they've had a ton of success, you know, behind Hooper. He's done a good job.

You know, he stayed patient. Having utilizing that QB as you're running back allows your running back to, you know, be an extra blocker out there and take up space versus defenders. So now third and seven for Shadow Park. The East Valley 47 ball on the right hash. Two receivers again split to the side.

East Valley showing blitz. Here they come. They'll run to the right side on the option pitch back. And not going anywhere is the running back Tilton. Diesel Wilkinson had him, brings him down right at the line of scrimmage.

A flag is down on the near sidelines here and we'll see what that's all about. No gain on the play. So we fourth and seven. Unless there's a penalty on East Valley, it's going to be on Shadow park. And we'll see what Adam Fisher, the East Valley head coach, wants to do here.

It's going to be a choice of third and long or fourth and seven. Our referee pointing out to his crew and they will accept this penalty. It'll be marked off from the 47, back to the 43 yard line. Yeah. Third down and 17 now for Shadow Park. Back at their own 43. From the right hash again the two by two set. Pistol formation.

And back goes Hooper to throw. Looking to the left side. Throwing to the left side. Feathering again. It's just incomplete off the hands of his intended receiver out there.

That was Chase Hendren just kind of tried to drop it in the bucket there and it was just a little bit, just barely overthrown. Yeah, Dean Dawkins, the junior for the East Valley nights, did a good job staying in his hip pocket, keeping, you know, his body between his man and the ball, you know, coming over the top again, kind of making a play, but, you know, good job, you know, creating another fourth down, putting it away. So Memphis Lake back into punt. Back at his own 20 is Diesel Wilkinson to receive on fourth down and 17 here for the Highlanders. Good snap back face mask high rugby punt.

Rolls to the left, boots it downfield short. It's going to hit inside the 35 and pretty much stick. It'll be stopped at the 31 by Schadl. And that's where East Valley will have it. First down and 10 for their third pitch possession.

Already in this game, neither team can really get much going on offense at this point in time. East Valley has a total of 9 yards and Shadow park has a total of 26. Chase Hendren brought him down for Shadow park after that three yard gain. But that'll bring up second down now for East Valley and about seven yards to go. Clock counting down. We have hit two minutes remaining to play here in the first quarter of the scoreless game. The wide receiver to the left side is Connor Nicholson.

They have Jack Hansen as a middle receiver. And the inside receiver is Diesel Wilkinson. One man, split wide to the right, shotgun formation. Fields sends the running back out in motion and they'll swing it out. This is nesbitt at the 30, up to the 35 and is hit and run out of bounds there.

Good job by Jacob Hernandez to run him out as he gets up to the 35 yard line for a one yard pickup. It'll bring up third and six. They swung it out of the backfield that time trying to get it Nesbitt, they did, but Nesbitt was hit and stopped for a very small gain. So now third and six for East Valley. Again four wide receivers, two to either side.

Wilkinson the inside receiver to the left side, slotted inside. Nicholson out of the gun. Fields, the sophomore quarterback, takes the snap back waist tie, looks to the left side, throws short to in over the middle of the field. And that ball is incomplete as initially it looked like the running back Titan Nesbitt on a little underneath throughout was able to make that catch. But then the ball was knocked away from him.

Incomplete. Good job by the shadow defense. It's fourth down. Yeah, the Knights were fortunate that they didn't have the ball going the other way. It looks like he punched that ball out.

It's kind of floating in the air. And the defensive linemen that were, you know, in pursuit almost were able to intercept that pass and, and get the ball on their own 35 yard line. So now Diesel Wilkinson will punt it away and Boston stands inside his 40 yard line. Good snap back. Rugby punt the other way and it's kicked off the side of his foot.

Hits it short the 40 yard line and bounces out of bounds at the East Valley 37. That was a two yard punt with no return. Wilkinson trying to do that rugby punt and sometimes when you do that you can get a little scritchy wad and he did there and kicked it off the outside of his ankle area and it goes out of bounds at the 37 of East Valley.

Just two yards. Yeah, just tried to buy too much time, you know, letting those rush rushers get too far up field, you know, giving his punt punt team time to cover the punt. Just had a little miscue on the punt when he initially needed to get it off a little rushed. Now two tight ends in the game for Shadow park and one receiver split to either side out of the pistol. First and 10 at the night 37.

They will run it. Tilton gets hit at the line of scrimmage trying to break the tackle. Can't do it. Good job by the defense there to bring him down. Might have been a 1 yard gain on the play.

We'll see Dean Deakins there on the stop. The officials do give him pretty close to the 36 yard line for a gain of almost a yard. So now it'll be second down and nine for Shadow park and this will might be the last play of the quarter. We're down inside of 30 seconds remaining. It's nothing, nothing here in the early going in what has been a very quick first quarter so far.

Second down and nine, ball in the center of the field again, same formation, two tight ends, one receiver to either side. Out of the piss, out of the shotgun formation. This will be a quarterback run to the right side. Picking his way through there. It's Hooper and now they get the rugby scrum going and they push him down to about the 28 yard line.

East Valley says they have the football as Dean Deakins comes out of there with it. Adam Fisher says, hey, that was a fumble and the officials say, nope, and now they're going to come in and talk about it. But it looks like it was, it's going to be down in the ball at the 28 yard line now the officials are going to come in, talk about it. So let's see. Yeah, this one's always so hard to gauge, right?

You go into, you know, a muddled huddle. You know, there's push, there's forward progress and then the defense comes out with the ball. So it's hard for the refs to really make a determination on, you know, what happened in there? Was this progress stopped? Did they strip it out?

Welcome back. Scoreless game. Coach Adam Fisher wanted an explanation from the officials as to why that wasn't a fumble. He got it. I don't know that it's entirely satisfying to the head coach of East Valley as we go to the second quarter of play here in a scoreless game.

Shadow park gets 8 yards on that run by Kaden Hooper, the quarterback. And it sets up now, third down and a yard. When you think about enhancing your smile, think Damon. And they do give him a first down. So it's not third and one. He got enough for the first down there. So it's first down and 10.

So we'll call it pickup at nine on that last play. Nope, now they've set it back. It is third. That's what I thought it was. Third and one.

And then the chain crew over across the way got a little excited and thought it was a first down. And the officials rightly say, nope, nope, third and one at the 28 yard line. Need to take it down to the 27 for a first down. Two tight ends, one wide receiver to either side out of the pistol. Hooper, the quarterback with a running back in motion, takes the snap, fades back under pressure and he sacked all the way back at the 40 yard line.

They came with a blitz that time and a great job by the linebacker Dean Deakins, who's the guy that recovered the fumble. It wasn't a fumble. And they spot the ball back at the 38. So that takes them from second and or third and one back to fourth and 11 and they're going to punt it. Yeah, that was a good play call right there.

You know, they've had a lot of success with that quarterback keeper. Brought some edge pressure off the side. Look to kind of do the same thing there, but good job by Dean, you know, to wrap him up for a loss of 10. So now fourth down and long and Lake will Punt it away. Wilkinson stands inside well right about his 10 yard line.

Here's the snap back rugby punt as he runs to the left side. Here's the boot away, wobbling toward the near sideline. Sits inside the 15, bounces inside the 10, inside the 5, and is touched down by Hernandez down at the 3 yard line. That's a whale of a punt for Lake. And good kick coverage by Hernandez down there.

And East Valley is deep in their own end at their three yard line here. First down and ten. Yeah, great punt there to put them deep in their own territory. You know, we haven't seen too many explosive plays yet. There was the 16 yard run, first player of the game by Hooper.

But other than that, these teams are definitely trying to figure out what's going to work well tonight versus the opposing defense. Let's see what East Valley does with Wilkinson here. This is the area where I fully expect to see him in a wildcat formation. But he's not. But he is.

The running back fields, the quarterback is in there with him and Wilkinson behind him. And a step to the right. Here's the snap back. They hand it off. Wilkinson runs to the left, cuts up field, gets to the five and is run back from there by this Shadow park defense.

They finally tackle him back in the end zone. Hernandez was there, Jarger was there. Also in there for Shadow park was Pasisi. And that is, well, let's see. They'll give him three yards up to the six, so it'll be second and seven now for East Valley.

So they get a little bit of room to work with. Ball in the right hash. They have trips to the left side. Tight end set to the right. An offset pistol with Wilkinson a step behind to the left of the quarterback.

Motion coming through to the right side. Fields the quarterback, hands it off. Wilkinson to the right side, gets hit and dropped right at about the line of scrimmage. And again it was Hernandez that comes in and makes the play. The officials will say forward progress to the seven for a gain of a yard.

Sets up third and six. And a good job of Hernandez each of the last two plays to fill the hole. Yeah, no, he's done a good job. And they are so keyed in on number 24 right now, you can just tell that the coach for Shadow Park Highlanders, Jim Mace, is definitely saying, don't let 24 beat us tonight. And so now Nesbitt is back in as the running back.

Wilkinson in the inside receiver to the left side. Ball on the right hash. Motion out of the backfield. To the right, back to throw it and they set up a screen into the middle and it can't be caught. Incomplete.

Trying to get that to the tight end, Locan Ily and he could not come up with it. A flag is down. So. So let's see what that is all about. Might be ineligible downfield.

Let's see. Looks like Fields was clapping like he was going to get a call here from the referees now. And sportsmanlike conduct is the call on Shadow Park. So that's a 15 yard penalty and a Damon Orthodontics. First down, 943 remaining here in the first half.

Out of the gun, Fields, the sophomore quarterback, takes the snap, hands it off, fakes it instead. Now runs back to the right side trying to get outside. He gets outside, gets over the 25. A flag is down, gets to the 27. That run was supposed to go to the left side, but it was all blocked up over there.

So Fields retreated, went to the right, got some good yardage, but a flag came in and it's going to be probably a hold. And that's what it will be. And Shadow park will accept that because it was a five yard gain. So a ten yard walk off here on the Knights and the ball goes back to the 12 yard line. It'll be first down and 20 now.

Big penalty in a game so far that has not seen a ton of offense. Yeah, no, definitely hasn't seen a ton of offense. And there was a lot of back and forth there, you know, got moved back, tackle for loss. Incomplete pass penalty, moved him forward. Holding penalty brought him back, you know, just kind of moving nowhere.

Right here for the Knights. Wilkinson in motion to the left side, gets it fly sweep run into the left, cuts up field over the 15. Now bounces outside, crosses the 20 and gets close to the 25 yard line before he's run out of bounds over across the way as Tilton was over there to help do that. Put him at the 24 it looks like. So again, a 12 and sets up second and about eight here for him.

And that was the best offensive play so far in this game for East Valley. A 12 yard gain on that play. Yeah, looks like number 13 for the Highlanders, Ladamian Tula. Tulola is shadowing him this whole game. He's been following him around just kind of as a cover.

Here he is in motion with him again. Second and eight snap was mishandled by the quarterback. So Fields just keeps it and runs into the middle of the field, makes something out of nothing as he gets gained up to the 29 yard line. So he gets about five yards there. It'll set up third down in round three.

And that was, I think, supposed to be a fly sweep again, but the quarterback Fields could not handle that snap, which was a little wide to his left, but he made something out of it by keeping the ball and just following everybody up into the middle of the field. And so now third and three, East Valley ball on the left hash at their own 29 clock. Running 837 remaining here in the first half. Fake the handoff, throw the ball out to Wilkinson on the left on the right side. He's got it.

Crosses the 35 and is thrown down at the 38. And he will have the first down. Beautifully thrown ball, feathered it over the defender into the hands of Wilkinson for a gain of six. Yeah, unfortunate right there that the Shadow Park Highlander just missed time that ball because if he was able to, you know, time that up, that could have been been a pick six going the other way. So I think actually a gain of eight on that play.

Think I got confused as to where the line of scrimmage was. So a gain of 8 and it's first down and 10. I'll hand it off. Wilkinson running behind the left tackle, gets across the 40 and gets to the 41. So there's another four yards on that pickup for Wilkinson.

I have him now, unofficially. Six carries for 28 yards in this ball game. Two receptions for a total of four yards. It'll bring up second down and six. Wilkinson stays in.

There's the running back. Titan Nesbitt, who's the usual running back, is a slot receiver to the left side. Adam Fisher signaling in the play. The head coach for East Valley. Longtime head coach at East Valley and then took five years off and is back again.

First year this year they hand it to Wilkinson off the right side, steps around Hernandez spins, but can't get away from the rest of the defense as double the guys handed by the ankle there. Damian Weichman was one of them and they bring him down at the 43. Short pickup on the play. It'll be third down in about four. Go ahead.

They're manned up, manned up across the board. Got their Free safety then you know, number 13 for the Highlanders keyed in on Wilkinson at all times. So, you know, if they're gonna get anything going for them, they're gonna have to use some more of that misdirection like we saw first series coming out. So third down and four at their own 43. Ball on the right hash, letting time go off the play clock.

Short gain. Now a flag comes in Tilton again makes the defensive play a gain of a yard to the 44. Now let's see what the flag is all about. I think we're gonna get a block in the back by the receiver here. The officials discussing so exactly what Cole thought.

Block in the back. And now will Shadow park accept? They probably will because it would be 4th and 3 and this penalt would be marked off from a yard behind the line of scrimmage it looks like. And take it back to the 32 yard line. Nope, they'll put it at the 34 so it'll be actually from a yard ahead of the line of scrimmage.

Yeah, Wilkinson was just, you know, third and four trying to make it to that first down. Took the inside angle and his receiver thought he was going to jump outside and was just trying to stay sticky as for as long as possible. So third and 13 now for the Knights. They need to take it up to their 47. They have it at their 34 here, pistol formation.

Four wide receivers, two to either side. Fields wants to throw. Pressured out by Hendren. Sacked by Hendren. Hendren chased him down from behind with a good defensive play there.

Chase Hendren, the junior defensive end brings him down for a sack of the game for hot. For the Highlanders, a loss of about around 8 yards. Yeah, Hendrin was just licking his chops right there. Third and 13 knew that, you know, the receivers had to take a little time to get down the field. He pinned his ears back, came off the edge hard and was able to sack the quarterback for, you know, a good loss.

Seven yards in that loss. Fourth down and 20, Wilkinson boots it away, hits inside the 50, bounces back across the 45 and will die at the 43 of Shadow Park. And so that's where the Highlanders will have it here. First down and 10. These teams have not really sniffed the end zone here, but East Valley was at least able to get it out of the shadow of their own end zone here.

And so now Schadl, they've had the better of the field position all game long. They have it at their own 43 here. Yeah, the Highlanders are averaging 33 points a game. We're almost to the end of the second quarter here and it's still knotted up. 00.

So maybe it'll come in a huge flurry. But yeah, neither team has had a bunch of success thus far. So first down and 10, ball on the right, hash mark trips to the left, one man wide right, shotgun formation. Hooper, the quarterback claps his hands, takes the snap, fakes the handoff, runs himself left side, big opening, crosses the 50 and is knocked off his feet by Deakins as well as Michael Miguel Rodriguez the linebacker.

And they bring him down, down at the 46 yard line. That is a pickup of 11 and the Damon Orthodontics. First down, Hooper. Unofficially, 46 yards rushing in this ballgame so far. That includes a sack on seven carries.

You take away the sack, it'd be he's averaging over nine yards of carry. First down and 10 at we'll call it the Highland, the East Valley 46 and this time a handoff. Tilton, big opening, cuts to his left, crosses the 35 and has knocked off his feet as he gets down to the 32 yard line. There's another 15 yard pickup. Another first down.

Yeah. The Shadow park offensive coordinator spread out the field there. Brought the linebacker outside of the box. Didn't have enough guys to fit the run game there. We have an injured Shadow park player on the field.

Nick Tilton, the injured Shadow park player, and they're carrying him off the field. He has not put any weight on his legs. They're just carrying him out in a sitting position, being hauled off by three athletic trainers off the field here. So we'll hope for the best for Tilton. He will be put on the table down at the sidelines below us and they will continue to work on him.

So first down on the run there. So Tilton is out and in at the running back position. Now for Shadow, I think is Evan Lafferty. Yeah. Number six for the Highlanders.

Yep. So Lafferty in there. They'll run the quarterback to the left side and he's got it opening inside the 30, 25, 20 down the side, mines to the 10, to the 5 and into the end zone. It's a touchdown. Kaden Hooper, 32 yards.

And so Hooper with the rushing touchdown. And that was wide open. Cole, there wasn't anybody out there. Yeah, it seems like, you know, they're not from a alignment perspective, the Knights are a gap off, you know they appear to not be feeling it, you know, quite right. So they've got the swinging gate set up here.

If East Valley defends it, then Schadl will go back and kick the point. So Hooper the rushing touchdown and now they'll move back as East Valley defended the swinging gate and Memphis Lake will kick. He has not missed many this year, been one of the better kickers in the gsl. Here's the boot. Wilkinson flies in off the edge, but the kick is up and good.

So this is already the 1, 2, 3, 4 fifth possession in this ballgame for East Valley. They have not been able to get much in the line of first down so far in this contest.

Their defense has Done a good job getting them the ball back. You know, they just haven't had a bunch of chances to capitalize on the offensive side of the ball. You know, Wilkinson's been gobbled up by two guys, you know, they have a triangle, triangle formation on him down at the bottom of our screen right now. So first down from the 40 yard line, they handed off Nesbitt off the left side, picks his way across the 45. Still going Alec over midfield and is all the way down near the 45 of Shadow Park.

Good hard run by titan Nesbitt. A 15 yard first down, one of their best offensive plays of the game. So good hard run there by Nesbitt and The gain is 15 yards. Chase Hendren there on the stop for Shadow park. After that 15 yard pickup ball on the left hash Wilkinson splits to the right side.

One man wide to the left out of the gun fields, hands it to Nesbitt off the left side again, cuts up field, crosses the 40 and is knocked off his feet as he gets down to the 37 yard line of shot Shadle Park. Tyler Yager there to bring him down. But another eight yards on the run by Nesbitt and he is gobbling up yardage here. 23 on the last two plays. Second down and two now for the Knights at the Highlander.

37 from the left hash out of the shotgun, they'll hand it again to Nesbitt off the left side. Third straight time breaks a tackle on the backfield, struggles forward and should have a first down. Good job by one of the Shadl defenders to break through there. And I think it was Cornello that had a chance to add him in the backfield. But good hard running by Nesbitt to break free, gain three and get the first down.

Yeah, you can't time it up much better than that. Alex Carmelo, you know, was able to get into the backfield and just kind of get drugging, you know, two, three yards past the first start. First line, down marker. So down to the 35 goes East Valley here. Wilkinson back in as the running back, now trips to the right, fields the quarterback, puts Wilkinson in motion.

They want to swing it out to him. He grabs it going forward. 35, 30, got a block, cuts outside. Now it's a foot race. 25, 20, 15, 10, 5.

Diving for the pylon down at the one. Wilkinson thought he had a touchdown, Officials say no. Tackled at the one yard line. That is a pickup of 34 on the little swing pass and it's first down, goal to go. What a great job by Wilkinson.

You know got the swing pass coming to our right, you know was able to set up his block really well off the receiver. You know, gain a little ground. We'll see if they can punch it in right here from the 1 yard line and knock this game up at 7 right before half. Got about 3 minutes 15 seconds left. Let's see if East Valley tries to eat up a little clock before the second quarter finishes.

See what Wilkinson does here. He's the wide receiver split to the right side. Now they have a pistol formation, fields the quarterback, Nesbitt behind him. First down and goal from the one two players shift they both set and they'll hand it Nesbitt off the left side wide open touchdown never even touched Titan Nesbit on the run behind well between left guard and left tackle and Titan Nesbitt gets the final yard.

He ate up the first 23 yards on the first two carries. Then Wilkinson got involved. Now Nesbitt the one yard rushing touchdown and East Valley is a point after away from tying this up. So a nice Drive. A 60 yard drive cab by the one yard rushing touchdown from Nesbitt.

So that's what Schadl will do. Ball at their own 35, 253 left in the half. Schedl will get the ball to start the second half. So the ideal drive here would be for the Highlanders to probably take at least 2 1/2 minutes, maybe 245 or even 250 to get down the field and get the go ahead score here. They do have three timeouts left in the half.

Shotgun formation. Hooper the quarterback running back to his right. Hooper gets the snap, keeps it, runs to the right side and the officials have blown this play dead. We're going to get a false start on the Highlander here. Been quite a few penalties in this ball game so far.

Yeah, it looks like, you know, by records Shadow Parks had two. A holding penalty, you know, right at the start of the second quarter and then right there a false start. And then for the East Valley had, you know, three or four delay games and false starts as well. So not the cleanest game but starting to, you know, find some gaps in each other's defenses late in the second quarter. So first and 15 now for Shader park at their own 30 from the right hash, two tight ends, receivers to the side, snap back.

Cooper keeps it off the left side. He is brought down as he gets to about the 33 yard line. Deakins there, the linebacker along with Logan Eiley. A gain of three up to the 33 and will bring second down and 12. Cooper unofficially 81 rushing yards in this game.

He is over four passing. Yeah, the linemen for them are doing a good job getting up to that second level. Getting on linebackers that are supposed to scrape across the top and make a play. They'll throw it to Boston on second and 12. He gets away from Nesbitt, runs up the left side and Wilkinson pushes him out of bounds as he gets to the 39 yard line.

So good job by Boston to break the initial tackle and get up to the 39. That's a seven yard pickup on the play. A six yard pickup on the play. Excuse me. So now it's going to be third and six.

So that is the first passing gain in this ball game for Shaitl Parek. And so now third and six at their own 39. Clock stopped as the ball went out of bounds on the run there. 217 remaining to go in the half pistol formation. 4 wide receivers, 2 to either side and back to throw it deep down the right side.

Hooper looking for his man. Incomplete. Yager. Pretty good coverage out there for East Valley. That was Deakins again giving the coverage and pretty good, pretty well thrown ball too.

Yeah, Deakins has done a good job. Shadow park two times against him has tried to run that wheel route from the inside receiver where they try to split him off, run him up the sideline and then the quarterback can kind of throw him open wherever he sees fit. But Deakins has done a good job, you know, keeping his body between the quarterback and the receiver and making a good, you know, lately timely play with late hands. So fourth down and Memphis Lake punts it away. A spiraling kick downfield to the near sidelines, hits inside the 30, rolls back inside the 25 and spins down at about the 22 or 20, 23 yard line.

And that's where East Valley will have it with 203 remaining to go in the half. They have two timeouts remaining. Well, why don't you stop into the Swinging Doors at the corner of Francis and Monroe before or after the game to meet, eat and have fun. Here's Wilkinson sprinting outside, gets to the corner over the 30, has a first down to the 35 and has finally run backwards from there as Hooper, the quarterback, play in safety. Also Jacob Boston over there to run him down. But Wilkinson showed his speed there again, a 13 and a Damen orthodontics.

First down. Wilkinson now starting to amass the yardage. He is up to 43 according to my count, rushing on eight carries. He's in the backfield along with Fields here. A minute 50 remaining to play and the clock is running again.

And East Valley not in a hurry here at this point yet. Ball on the left hash mark. One receiver to either side. Two tight ends. They hand it to Wilkinson.

Trying to bounce outside on the right side. Now is going to be stacked up short of the 40 yard line. Good job by the Shadl defense to string him out and then a very sure tackle to bring him down as was that Cornello again to bring him down in the play. I think it was. Yeah, Cornell has done a great job all game, you know, just, you know, finding, putting his nose on the ball.

Follow in Wilkinson around. Can't say enough about, you know, his ability to, you know, trace and scrape over the top as a linebacker. Gain a three, second down and seven. Clock running. One minute remaining to play here in the half.

Snap back to Wilkinson and out of the Wildcat. Spins out over the 40 and is taken down by Hernandez as he gets to the 44 yard line a yard short of a first down. And now time is called by Shadow park on third down in a yard with 48 seconds remaining. Coach Mace may be playing with some fire here if Wilkinson busts off a big play on a third and one that could end up biting him. He's hoping they can stop him and get the ball back.

Yeah, that was an interesting time out there by the coach. You know, you, you would have thought that you would want him to eat up as much clock as possible. Go in to the halftime. You're going to get the ball to start the second half. And so a little confused up here in the press box about why he wanted to take that time out.

So third down in a yard. I would assume Wilkinson will have the ball in his hands. We'll have to wait and see. Has he thrown a pass yet this year? While he's thrown past this year, he is not yet tonight, but yes, he was a quarter.

He's been a quarterback in the past here for East Valley. That would be an interesting call as well. Give it to him on the outside. Kind of a run pass option. Looks like he's going to be a receiver split to the right side here and a pistol formation with Fields, Nesbitt behind Fields.

And what do we have? Timeout now by East Valley. So right there you had two receivers. They wanted to get Wilkinson on the motion, but the tight end lined up off the ball so they wouldn't have ever had, you know, the proper amount of guys on the line of scrimmage. East Valley has to call a timeout, you know, come back to the huddle and have the tight end go on the ball so Wilkinson can go in motion.

You've got to have seven on the line of scrimmage and in that particular case they had seven, but Wilkinson was the seventh. So if he goes in motion now they only have six on the line because the tight end wasn't there. Ideally he'd be there and Wilkinson would be back behind, but. So that's why Adam Fisher has to take the time out here to talk about things and get his team where he wants them here defensively. Third down in a yard, East Valley at their own 44 and they fake the run and Fields rolls out to the left side being pursued, throws back the other way and that's tipped and intercepted. 45 yard line down the left sidelines of the 30 to the 25 to the 20, down to the 15 to the 10 and spun out of bounds at the five yard line. That is Ariel is Sweeney and the officials.

There are flags down, so let's see what this is all about. Probably on the return, but Schadl instead of having it inside the 10, is gonna have it still in East Valley territory with a couple of timeouts. But it won't be inside the 10. Yeah, they're gonna get him on this crack. Black blocks on the interception, but Fields is going to be kicking himself.

Wilkinson was open across the top. You know, that's where they drew up the play. That's where he wanted it to go. Thought he might have the running back. So it's a penalty on Schadl here, but it's a post possession foul.

So Schadl will have the football, but they're going to have it back at their own. Back at the 41 yard line of East Valley, not at the inside the 10. So we're talking about the. They thought they had Wilkinson open, but he went for the running back instead of for Wilkinson. Yeah, the running back.

What happened there was they wanted Wilkinson to flow over the top when they scrambled up to left and then they leaked a running back out the backside. Fields initially thought that he had him, but that's a long, developing throw that safety is able to come in, you know, intercept the ball and take it the other way. So go ahead. Big, big penalty there. You know, you're going from, you know, a great scoring position with 35 seconds left to having to drive now.

48 yards, 46 yards to get a score. 35 seconds left in the half. Schadl has two timeouts left. Ball on the left hash. Two receivers to either side at the east valley.

46. Who Hooper, the quarterback claps his hands, takes the snap, runs it off, left guard, gets inside the 40 and is dragged down from behind as he gets to the 38 yard line. That's a gain of eight. But they're short of the first down and a timeout will be taken here by Shadow park with 24 seconds remaining to play here in the first half. So eight yards to Hooper, but they can't really do that.

They only have one more timeout. Now they've got a good field goal kicker in Lake and if they could get it down around the 20, maybe 25 yard line, they'll have a shot. But they need, you know, 13, 15, 18 yards perhaps to really set him up with a good opportunity. Yeah, they're going to have two to three plays here. Like you said, Larry, you know, they got a timeout in their bag.

The clock will stop, you know, if they complete a pass, you know, past the 30 yard line, 35 yard line. So definitely still have time here to at least make a field goal. Depends on how aggressive they want to get. You know, do you want to stretch the field? Do you want to try to go for a score or do you want to just try to get down here into field goal range and bang, one through the uprights.

So it'll be second down and two here for Shadow park at the 38 of East Valley. Out of the shotgun, four wide receivers. Again the quarterback Cooper takes the snap, fades back, has time, throws deep left side, man, wide open. That's caught. Boston at the 5, into the end zone.

Their third hookup in the last two weeks. Yeah, Nesbitt just looked like he was maybe a little tired, you know, just kind of got a little maybe lethargic for a second. Boston's got good speed on the outside. Was able to, you know, kind of fly right by him. Just the second completion of the first half for Caden Hooper.

I had him two out of seven now in the first half, left footed kicker is Lake. He boots it up and through. And so now it's a 147 ballgame. So shadow park takes advantage of the interception and they drive two plays, 46 yards. Didn't take them long.

And here's a little onside kick that's rolling down across midfield and that's a live ball.

Who's got it? East Valley's got it. 17 seconds remain. They still have a timeout and they've got it at midfield. You know, they're starting to emphasize this a little bit more, Larry.

The kicking, you know, kickoff coverage or initial kickoff has kind of been taken out of the game with the fair catch or the touchback moving it up. And so a lot of teams, especially high school teams, are starting to utilize this, you know, direct kick or pooch kick right at the front line guys to try to steal possession. So it's been very interesting how moving that, you know, kick five yards up, changing the rules has affected the game. Wilkinson out of the Wildcat, crosses the 50 and gets down to the 47 yard line. And that'll likely be the end of the half, I would assume.

We had really nothing the first quarter of play and all of a sudden the second quarter the action started. Hooper a 32 yard touchdown run capped a 57 yard drive for Shadow park, they had a seven nothing lead. East Valley responded with a 60 yard drive. Nesbitt a 1 yard rushing touchdown. Then after interception, Hooper, 38 yard pass to Boston put him ahead 14 to 7.

And that's where we stand. Shadow park leading East Valley at the intermission. From the spokesman review, Dave Nichols joins us now. Big game tonight here in this two way race because Schadl with a victory at least stays alive for another day. But they need a lot to happen tomorrow for them to be able to force a Kansas tiebreaker.

They do need a lot to happen tomorrow. They need West Valley to lose at Pullman and you make that long road trip, anything can happen. Obviously West Valley lost last week to Rogers, so they're looking to rebound well and then Rodgers needs to win and Rodgers is playing 0 win NC so you have to figure out that Rodgers will uphold their end of the bargain.

So it'll come down to whether West Valley can pull it off there. But Schadl needs both of those things to happen. Right. They have to be in a three way tie with West Valley and Rodgers in order to force the tiebreaker. Rodgers can go to the playoffs if Schadl loses tonight because they own the tiebreaker over West Valley tomorrow.

So there's still a lot of permutations in this. But step one for Shadow is winning this ball game. They're up 14 to 7 now and really kind of got a favor there at the end of the sec, end of the second quarter with that turnover and then the long touchdown pass. Yeah, Rogers hoping for a Shadow loss tonight and then if they win tomorrow and West Valley loses, then they would be the automatic berth because they and West Valley would be tied with two losses, Shadow would have three and Rogers would get the tiebreaker there.

Right. And if we end up playing on 2 Tuesday in the Kansas tiebreaker, Rodgers, because of the preseason draw, will be home team, which means West Valley and Shadow will have to play. And the winner of that mini game then plays Rodgers for the playoff spot. All right, coming up after this game is Gonzaga Prep. If they beat Lewis and Clark, they will finish an undefeated conference season.

They are the number one seed into 4A. They will play next week in the crossover. They will take on the number three team out of the big nine, which I understand right now looks like it'll be Sunnyside. Right. And you know, all important for Gonzaga Prep they get to host that game.

Right. You don't want to have to travel the first, first week of the playoffs. So they have to feel pretty good about where they sit. Obviously, as we talked before the game here, Gonzaga Prep doesn't want to let up on the gas against Lewis and Clark this evening because they want to get as high as seat as possible. You know, taking the RPI into consideration and, you know, a couple of the other rankings, you know, the seating committee kind of does whatever they want to do, but they have some input onto these things.

So part of that is going to be Gonzaga Prep finishing off with a regular season, you know, undefeated here in Washington. Anyway. They have the one loss in California that I don't think anybody's going to put a whole lot of stock into. But the interesting thing with Gonzaga Prep this year is that they haven't garnered any votes in any of the media polls. Right.

Here's a team that all they've done is win every one of their games, just like they do every year, and just getting no love in the media polls, which I get that 4Amight be a little bit better across the state in general, but still, Gonzaga Prep is scoring 35 points a week during league games and giving up five and a half. And I don't know how much more dominant you need to be in league games in order to try to get a little bit of ranking on the 4A side. For the two seeds, Central Valley and LC, it's coming down to them. LC has to win tonight against Prep, though, and hope CV loses to U High tomorrow. And then they'd have to go on the road.

Well, we don't know yet. Last I'd heard, Richland will be the opponent, though, but it could be in Spokane or it could be down south still. Right. I actually think that the GSL hosts that playing game on Tuesday, so. So it'll either be here if LC wins or in Central valley.

But yeah, LC's got a long road to ho tonight in this second game, but they know if they win that they're still alive. And then on the two A side or three A side, I should say, we know we have Mount Spokane and Ridgeline in. They both right now are in the top 16 of the RPI, which might mean. Well, Mount Spokane is much higher than that. I think they were sixth, but that would mean homes.

Maybe home games for both. Yeah, and that would be really great. You know, obviously Ridgeline, in their. Their third year of existence, not only make the playoffs, but host a playoff game would just be tremendous for. For that team, that program, that community.

And obviously Mount Spokane wants to bounce back after. After losing to Gonzaga Prep last week and finish on a high note. Get some momentum going into the playoffs. All right. Dave, you'll be writing all about it.

They end up the first half with 101 rushing yards, 44 passing yards. Unofficially, 145 yards of total offense.

Nick Tilton three carries for 22 yards before going out injured. Caden Hooper has been the big rusher. 10 carries, 89 yards with a touchdown in the first half. Hooper two out of seven passing. Excuse me, two out of eight passing.

Nope, I was right the first time. Two out of seven passing, 44 yards, one touchdown. That was to Jacob Boston, who had both the catches for 44 yards for East Valley. Diesel Wilkinson. I had him at 10 carries for 49 yards at the half.

Titan Nesbitt. I had nine carries for 34 yards and a touchdown. Taron Fields passing three out of five for five yards and one intercept. Or, excuse me, four out of six. I'm sorry.

For 40 for 39 yards. Four out of six 39 yards with one interception. Diesel Wilkinson Four catches or three catches for 38 yards. Titan Nesbitt had one catch for one yard for East Valley. The only turnover.

Nope. As I look down on the sidelines, Coach May still the toughest guy here in the stadium. He's wearing shorts still this evening. Yeah, it's a little too cold to be wearing shorts tonight, Larry. That's what I Would, yeah, I definitely would agree with that.

Drop into, you know, we're about 33, 34 degrees now. Almost, you know, maybe keeps him on until it's sub freezing. Our second half kickoff presented by Papa Murphy's love changed the way you pizza. And the kickoff almost recovered by East Valley there. That took a heck of a roll for them.

They had a guy that had a chance at on the sidelines but he couldn't have. Went underneath his arm. Yeah, went underneath his arms. He actually touched it briefly but then ball rolled out outside of the line of scrimmage there. And Shadow Park's gonna get it on their own 42 yard line to start this drive.

And officials now move it up a yard to the 43. And so that's where it'll be first down and 10 here for shadow Park. So good field position as their quarterback Cooper comes out. Tilton, the great running back Nick Tilton was carried off the field earlier and he has not returned and he is not in there as running back. Now Lafferty is still in at the running back position but they have not run the ball to the running back.

It's been Hooper running himself out of the pistol formation. Three wide receivers on first down from the right hash. Now they hand it the Lafferty big hole over the 50. But now the flags come flying in and they blow the play dead. And so Lafferty finally got the opportunity to run the ball but we have a false start prior to the snap.

And so that's going to cost Shadow 5 yards. That's a big penalty because it's only 5 first and 15. Easily manageable. But they had a 15, 20 yard gain there. Yeah, definitely had a, had a large chunk, you know, run play set up right there.

That is going to get called back to the 40 yard line. So East Valley is a little out of sorts right now on their alignment. You know, they, they're running this Cover 4 scheme but they, they, you know, don't have their linebackers close enough to the line of scrimmage when this two receivers are packed into the box. First down and 15 out of the pistol they hand it to Lafferty. Not much there off the left side.

Tried to bounce to his right and got hit by Deakins, the linebacker who's been all over the field and he ends up struggling to the 40 for a gain of a couple of yards on the play. But it'll be second down and 13 here. Deakins has performed very well for East Valley. He's been in on several tackles playing an outside linebacker position. So a two yard pickup there.

It'll be second and 13. Hooper after every play, runs to the sidelines to consult with Coach Mace, get the play and then he runs all the way back out on the field and calls the play. They're down to six on the play. Clock out of the gun, Hooper, second down, 13, takes the snap, fakes the handoff, runs himself to the right side, gets grabbed from behind, spins away, gets across the 45 to the 46 for a gain of about six yards and in.

And there on the stop that time was Logan Eiley for East Valley. But a gain of six will bring up a third and about seven now, so Hooper continues to pile up some yardage. It'll be third down and let's call it seven here. Third and seven at their own 46. Four wide receivers, two to either side.

Four men down in the line. Now they're showing blitz. A couple of guys coming up on the outside. Here they come running to the left as the quarterback gets hit behind the line and struggles forward to the 45. That's going to be a loss of a yard.

Deakins again coming in and making that play. Number 25 for East Valley. Loss of a yard for Hooper and they'll have to punt. Yeah, that's a second. Third down now where they've dialed up a saw blitz.

Both outside linebackers have rushed the outside. You know Hoopers had nowhere to go. There's just guys in his face immediately. That's the second time they've done it on third down. Good call by coach Fisher there to set up the punt.

So at 4th and 8 now Lake on to pundit away. Good snap back face mask, high left footed kick away to the near sidelines. Didn't hit it well. Hits inside the fourth 40 and just sticks. And Shadl will cut it down at the 36 yard line.

So a short punt there and East Valley is going to get good field position at their own 36 with 948 remaining to play here in the third quarter in a 147 Shadow park lead. Yeah, I'm not sure if you know the coaches for East Valley see this, but you know that the punter's been pretty casual for the Shadow Park Highlanders a couple of times. You know, the, the East Valley Knights have almost gotten pretty close to blocking it. I think if they could, you know, dial up a pressure or bring some sort of a blitz late in the game, they could potentially steal a possession if they see it. STCU is a member owned cooperative.

That's been helping neighbors in the inland Northwest since 1934. Best of luck. From STCU to all GSL teams. One wide receiver to either side here and out of the shotgun formation. Snap to Fields, he'll hand it off.

Wilkinson picking his way through on the right side, crosses the 40, gets outside, tries to stiff arm a man. And a nice job by Eswiny to bring him down at the 48 yard line. And that's a gain at 12. And another first down. That was one on one.

If he doesn't make the tackle, Wilkinson's gone. Yeah, Wilkinson's got a mean stiff arm too. That almost looks like Marshawn lynch from Beast Mode. You know, he definitely looking to punish people with that stiff arm. It's not anything casual.

He's definitely, it's a. It's a violent, aggressive, really, really solid stiff arm that he uses. First down and 10. East Valley at their own 48 from the right hash mark. One wide receiver to either side.

A fullback moves in motion now to the left side and they will run it to the left side. Wilkinson behind that fullback. Not much there, run backwards. Hendren was the first guy to hit him, number eight. Then other people came over.

Hooper the quarterback who also plays safety, Tyler Yager and others. Very short gain a yard to the 49 that time for Diesel Wilkinson. So second down and nine. East Valley looks like they're going to roll with Wilkinson in the backfield for the time being anyway. Nesbitt as a slot receiver split to the left, fields the quarterback out of the shotgun, Wilkinson to his left.

Second and nine, Wilkinson in motion to his left. They pump fake there, throw a screen back to tight end, across the 50 to the 45, still on his feet. Nice job getting down close to the 41 yard line. I think it is Larson the tight end or Hanson the tight end, I should say. And that's going to be a gain down to the 41 yard line up.

That was Logan Eiley there that made that play. Down to the 41. So a first down gain of about 11 yards there. Yeah, with the exception of maybe one incomplete pass. I think that was maybe their third passing play of the game, you know, including screens and bubble passes.

So first down and 10 at the 41 of Shadow Park. Again, two men in motion, but they both stop and are set for a count handoff. Nesbitt running right to left, crosses the 40 and will be stood up and run backwards but not tackled on the play. But he gets five yards down to the 36 yard line and so it'll be second and five here for East Valley. Pretty good time consuming drive here.

Clock Counting down to 740 remaining. Third quarter, Shadow park on top, 14 to 7. Wilkinson wide receiver now to the right side. They have one man split to the left, ball on the left hash mark. Kind of a pistol formation.

But the running back is offset to the right. Now he shifts to the left and movement up front. Flags are down. It's going to be a false start on East Valley. That's a crucial penalty because instead of second and five, it's now second and 10.

I think, I think the ref got this confused here. I think it's going to be offsides by the nose guard for Schadl and they're going to be close to a first down marker. Okay, there was a difference of opinion. Then the officials get together to talk about it. And now here comes the back judge in to try to be the referee of the whole thing.

Now the other line judge comes in. So four of the five officials are talking about it, everybody explaining what they saw. It's going to be offside. Chadla Park. Good call, Cole.

Yeah, no, I think when the sideline judge over on the East Valley nights, initially I think she knew what she wanted to call, but she gave the wrong sign. So then all the refs had to huddle together and talk about what actually she meant to call. You know, probably, you know, young referees, you know, it sounds like they're looking for, you know, more and more of them because there's a shortage of them. So. Absolutely, totally understand, you know, maybe just accidentally, you know, signaling the wrong call.

So first and 10, West Valley down at the 31 of Shadow Park. From the left hash, trips right, motion out of the backfield to the right. They swing it out to Nesbitt with lead blockers, crosses the 30, breaks the tackle, 25 breaks another, but is just tripped up as he gets to the 19 yard line. Essewini there to bring him down, but that's a 12 yard pickup on the swing, past to Nesbitt and another Damon Orthodontics first down. So Nesbitt a good play.

Down to the 19 and East Valley in the Shadow park red zone. Trailing 14, 7 here in the third quarter. Fields looking to the sidelines, getting the play from coach Fischer. Ball on the right hash trips to the left. Nesbitt the running back offset to the right.

They bring motion from a tight end off to the right side and they will hand it to Nesbitt off the right and he'll burrow down, still on his feet, getting to the 15. The rugby scrum pushing him forward, down to about the 10, maybe the nine yard line. So again, just that rugby scrum officials will put him at the 11. That's a gain of eight and bring up second and two or I guess here in Philadelphia. But that's on a quarterback sneak where they called it the tush push.

This was not a quarterback sneak. This was the run. Nesbitt gains eight. They're just hanging around, aren't they? You know, just kind of, you know, you know, chipping away, chipping away, chipping away.

We got a 14, 7 game right now. The East Valley Knights are on their 10 yard line, looking to punch it in. Second down and two yards to go. Motion coming from a tight end through to the right side and they will run it to the right. Time for the tying touchdown. 5:32 remaining to play here in the third quarter. And the clock starts running again. Fields just looking to the sidelines to get the play call. Plenty of time on the play clock, 22 seconds.

Running back is Nesbitt. He gets the handoff. Running to the left side now turns up field and gets to about the two and a flag flies. And I think there's probably going to be a hold on East Valley and that would mean they would be back outside the 10 yard line. Officials talking it over.

The referee is the one that threw the flag and it is a hold on East Valley. So that'll push him back outside the 10 yard line here and bring up first and goal from outside the 10. Yeah, that was that initial play they came out with in the first quarter. You know, the jets motioned him like he's going to run a jet sweep, pause, counter back the other way. You know that, you know, spy safety has been chasing him around the whole field. And when you can get him running, you know, into his own defenders, it helps Wilkinson on his end.

Second and goal now from the three. Nesbitt, the running back, he gets the call off the left side into the end zone. Touchdown. Touchdown for East Valley Titan. Nesbit, his second rushing touchdown of the game.

And East Valley a Pete at away from tying this ball game up at 14 to 13. Nesbit, second rushing touchdown of this game and through in just GSL games this season, Tyson Nesbitt now has eight rushing touchdowns. All important, Pat, that's just in the six GSL games. A 64 yard drive for East Valley takes some time off the clock and a three yard run by Titan Nesbitt makes this a 1414 game. And again, Shadow park without their starting running back. Who is injured? Nick Tilton who got injured earlier in this ball game. So they've been going behind Hooper, their quarterback, and now he has Hendren in the backfield with him.

First down and 10, Schadel at their own 47. Hooper, a little draw here, breaks one tackle, crosses the 50, still on his feet inside the 45 and is finally dragged down from behind at the 43. 10 yard pickup and the first down and finally able to bring him down with Jake Gallagher there. Good hard run. By whom?

Hooper gain a 10. He's over 100 yards unofficially now in this game. Yeah, Hooper has been their biggest weapon on offense. He's. He's done a good job.

He sets up his blocks well. He's patient, you know, fast, athletic, you know, he's just done a really good job all game for the Highlanders. Four wide receivers, two to either side and they've got a pistol formation in the backfield. First down and 10 at the 43 of East Valley. And so here's a roll out to the left side and a throw.

Short pass. Is, is that caught or incomplete? I think it is incomplete. Jager is there on the reception or the attempted reception, but he got hit in the head and he will have to come out of the. And the pass is it rolled complete or incomplete?

It's ruled incomplete. Took a while to get to that point and so now it'll be second down and 10 and they have opened up the bleachers underneath us and so they've. We've got people underneath our crowd mic here that I wasn't aware that we were going to have people underneath our crowd mic tonight. So apologies here but we're going to turn that down to a minimum here because I've heard a couple of things that we don't need to hear on the radio and we're going to have to do something about that here at the, at the break.

Here's run off the left side. Hooper running into traffic, bounces outside and is able to get inside the 40 yard line and is finally down at the 38. That's a good run by Hooper as once again Deakins was there on the stop and it'll be third down and about five here. Good run by Hooper. Good second effort.

Yeah, he's done play again, done a good job. Running hard all night, you know, really picking up the load when his running back Tilton went out earlier in the first half. So four wide receivers, two to either side. On third down at about five at the 38, Hooper to throw fire. Short left side incomplete.

And that was just a miscommunication there. Boston, his receiver was running a little further down the field and Hooper thought he was going to run a little curl or something. Short and the pass. Short, incomplete. Third down and five.

What do they dial up again, Larry? Inside blitz pressure again. You know, the, the Highlanders should be expecting this, you know, on third and short, third and medium, you know, they're going to expect to see outside blitz pressure by the outside linebackers for the Knights are inside pressure, but they're heating them up on third down consistently.

So fourth down and five and Shadow park will go for it. From the 38 of East Valley, three receivers go to the right side, one man wide to the left here. Here they come again. Here comes the blitz. Hooper wants to throw left sidelines.

Man open. It is caught breaking a tackle. Boston down the sidelines. 20, 15, 10, 5. And he gets by Diesel Wilkinson.

Does he score? Yes. Touchdown Shadow Park. So Boston on fourth and five is able to break that one 38 yards for the touchdown. And it's now a 20 to 14 game with 242 remaining to play here in the third quarter.

That was quite a play. And we have an injured player for Shadow park in the end zone and so I think that might be Boston got the. Nope, it's not. It is Hernandez. So Jacob Hernandez is the injured player and so the athletic trainers that are out on the field to have a look at him.

Gave a little too much cushion there. You know, they ran a seven yard hitch route, you know, just a quick two step, you know, developing play. And would have liked to see him suck up a little bit closer knowing that that pressure is probably going to get home and that he just has to get through that three step progression. So Hernandez now sitting up and he is not putting a lot of weight on his right leg, but he refuses to be helped off the field. He is hopping off on his left leg without putting any weight on his right, but he is hopping off on just that one leg and we'll see whether we see him back again here later in this game.

So it's 20 to 14 and Hernandez hops right to the trainers table where they will continue their examination. The athletic trainers 242 remaining to play here in the third quarter and here is the pat attempt coming from Memphis Lake and we have a false start. Nope offside on East Valley. So let's see what they elect to do here. They will move it a yard closer.

A lot of times kicking teams will decline that penalty. They just want to kick the extra point from the normal spot. But this will make it about an 18 yard try for point rather than a 20 snap back. Ball spotted, they're going to go for two. They flip it back to Boston, he throws into the end zone and that ball is caught for a two point conversion.

So a little razzle dazzle there as Boston throws it to Hendren for the two point conversion. But there's a marker down again so we have another penalty flag and this will be on Schadl it looks like. So they're gonna have to try it again. I'm not sure what the official signaled there. It kind of wasn't an illegal sh and so, oh, I think they might call that the holder's knee.

Oh, the holder's knee was down. I think you're right. So the point after try is no good because the holder didn't get up in time and so his knee was down and so that ended the play. So now injuries starting to rear their heads here in this ball game. There's injuries for both. Are there two Shadle players down? I think there's two SHADL players down. Let's see here.

So I get the eyeballs out here on them. Jarger is one of the injured players. He comes off a little wobbly as he is favoring his right shoulder. So that's a big loss for Schedel Jarger, who is a contributor both as a receiver and defensively. But they've got the helmet off the other player that's down and there are five athletic trainers surrounding this young man and they are looking at his right knee.

Well, now it's the left knee that they've got. So there you go. And so it looked like we were going to get Gonzaga Prep and Lewis and Clark underway at a pretty good time tonight, but that has come to a screeching halt here in the third quarter of play with several injuries here on the field.

And now the other Schadl player is injured and they're going to carry him off the field. That's the second Shadow park player to be carried off the field like this tonight in a sitting position. And we have not yet been able to see who the young man is that is injured. It looks now like it is Hayden Notal. Now as we get a little better look at him, they put him on the training table.

They had to bounce. The previous guy that was on the training table off that was Hernandez. So they've got Tilton, Hernandez, Jarger, and now Knodle all out of the game due to injuries. So Schadl is quickly running out of depth here. First down and 10, East Valley at their own 30 yard line.

They'll run it. Nesbitt off the right side. He will get out over the 35 to the 36 yard line, gain a six on first down. Carson Ikestat there to bring him down, gain a six on the play. So Schadl without, I mean they don't have a.

There's not a lot of kids on this bench right now. I think it's probably Tilson on crutches. We can't tell he's got a coat on, but there's a young man on crutches on the sidelines. Here's a handoff running to the left side. This is Nesbitt and he will be short of the first down, but he'll get to the 39 for a gain of three more yards.

And that'll bring up third down in a yard here. Yeah, now you really start to see how much that extra point makes up a difference now, you know, with if the Knights are able to pick up a first down here, melt some clock, you know, Shadow park doesn't have enough depth. You know, a six point game looks a lot different than a seven point game, you know, when you can go kick an extra point to win now. Absolutely. Now Brandon Banks limps off for Shadow Park.

So another injury as he grabs his right calf area. Third down in a yard, pistol formation and they will run it. And now flags come in to blow this play dead. So another penalty on East Valley. That's going to cost him five and instead of third and one it's going to be third and six.

So the injuries piling up for Shadow park and now the young man has turned around that I mentioned was on crutches and I believe it is. Tilson number two still has his jersey on and they continue the examination of Nodal on the sidelines and we have not seen Hernandez or Jager. They're both sitting out on the bench and on third down they try to throw it out to Wilkinson and they let him too far pass incomplete. And so now it'll be fourth down and six. And there's another player down there on crutches.

I think that's Evan Lafferty. That would be a fifth Shadow park player to lost in this game. Holy smokes. So it looks like Lafferty and Tilson are both on crutches. Nodel's on the on the training table and two guys sitting on the bench right now.

So fourth down and six and they fake it on the punt, running to the left side, getting hit, breaking a tackle Struggling forward as Deakins and he will not get there. So East Valley tries the fake punt. They get three yards but they needed six. And they will turn it over to Shadow park in their own end at the 37 yard line. Yeah, Coach Fisher's not super happy right here.

That play was designed to pitch it out on the speed option to the punter Wilkinson, who had all sorts of space, you know, up their own sideline. So missed opportunity there. And so first down for Shadow park and they're having to bring some new players into the game. Michaels, Ian Gibson has come in a sophomore at wide receiver. They have Nehemiah Witt out wide to the right side and then two players split to the left side.

Boston is the main guy though. He is split to the left. They still have him. They still have the quarterback, Hooper, who runs to the right side. Hooper cuts up field, crosses the 30 and gives a man a piggyback ride down to the 28 for a gain of nine yards.

So Hooper with a good strong run there on first down for Shadow Park. So it'll be second down in the yard. You've got to think at this point in time, with all the injuries for Shadow park, they're going to be leaning on Hooper here to carry this football. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. Like you said, they're going to definitely lean on Hooper.

Let's see if East Valley makes any adjustments blitzing, putting more pressure on him, you know, to hone in on that. Expecting that, you know, the ball is probably not going to anyone besides Hooper or Jordan on the outside. So it's second down in a yard and Hooper will run it himself off the left side this time trying to get outside. Does gets inside the 25, down to the 20 and is finally knocked off his feet as he gets to the 18 yard line. That's going to be a gain of 10 yards and another Damon Orthodontics first down.

So a gain of 10 yards there for Hooper and they are inside the red zone at the 18 yard line as we come to the end of the third quarter. Down several players, Nick Tilton, Evan Lafferty, Jacob Hernandez, Tyler Yager, Hayden Nodal. But they're leading 20 to 14 and they're driving here first and 10 at the 18 yard line of East Valley. Four wide receivers, two to either side and Hooper will run and he will not get much.

Looks like he'll get a couple of yards down to the 16 and is run backward from there by several white shirted Knights. As one of the last guys up off the pile is the linebacker, Miguel Rodriguez. Yeah, this is a very important drive, especially for the East Valley Knights. You know, it's 20, they're down six points right now. 11 minutes to go in the game.

If Shadow park scores right here, they could ice the game. You know, they haven't been able to score super fast, so I, you know, I fear that if they don't get a stop here in a missed field goal, they might not be able to overcome this deficit. With 10 minutes left, second down and eight, Hooper designed run to the right side, cuts inside, has a first down inside the 10 and bangs his way to about the 7. Wrestled down finally on the play by Mason Watt, but not until he gets to the seven yard line for another dame. The orthodontics first down.

What do you do here, Larry? You dial up the blitz. You've had success with that third down pressure coming from the outside or now we have an injured East Valley player trying to come off the field. It's Rodriguez. Goes down now, gets up and comes off under his own power.

Yeah, I think the ball stays in the hands of the quarterback here. I think Cooper will be the guy. If you don't have Tilton and you don't have Lafferty, Borch or Hendren is a good player in the backfield. You want to eat up some clock too. There's no point in throwing it down to the single receiver side to Boston.

Yeah. Boston is split to the right. Hendren is a wing set to the left. So it's basically an empty backfield here for Hooper. Clock counting down.

12 on the play clock. 10:27 on the game clock here in the fourth quarter. Hooper claps the hands, starts a run to the right side, hitting the backfield and overrun. So there you have it. Coming through there in a hurry was Jake Gallagher from his linebacker position to blow that play up.

Back at the 10 yard line, loss of three. And they did, I think, exactly what you had mentioned, Cole with the blitz. Yeah, they like these outside linebackers and you know, as long as they time it up right, you know, it's pretty good. Sometimes if you get caught, you can be a little bit early and get carved out. But East Valley has done a good job.

You know, these outside linebackers have had a lot of success with it all night. Out of the pistol, hendren behind Hooper, second and goal from the 10. Hooper claps his hands, wants to throw right side for Boston. Back of the end zone. He got it.

Touchdown, Shaidel Paris. Third of the game from Hooper to Boston. They had two hookups last week. That is the third of this game. Doesn't put the game on ice, but it definitely puts Schadl in a commanding position, leading by 12 with 938 left.

It's too bad we're not on TV tonight, Larry. If we saw this replay with this route by Boston, we'd be very, very impressed. He initially started up field, you know, three steps stopped, acted like he was gonna slam. Goes right back into his fade route and just creates enough separation on that stutter step to freeze the cornerback to get a wide open td. It was very, very odd, you know, impressive to see.

So now Schadl will go for two. Remember they tried the razzle dazzle out of the kick formation last time and the holder didn't get his knee up off the ground in time. And they will go with an empty backfield here. But Hooper, very dangerous to run in this situation. But he throws in wide open.

Wilkinson takes the snap, fades back, rolls to the left side, throws to the left side incomplete.

Led his man too much there, running an out pattern. That was Connor Nicholson and the pass incomplete. So it'll be second down and 10. So fields the sophomore quarterback is out and Wilkinson their outstanding athlete who can play just about everywhere. He punts, he receives passes, catch runs the ball, plays defense at Saturday he's Now out at wide receiver.

And Fields is back in. So just one pass for Wilkerson. He's out. Fields in second and 10 at their own 25. Fields hands it off running to the left side.

Getting out across the 30 is Nesbitt up to about the 33 yard line. And that'll bring up third down and short here. The short handed schedule defense, Andre Jones helped to bring him down there. But they've got a lot of backups in right now as they've sustained several injuries here in this game. Nesbitt and Wilkinson now marching toward 150 yards combined rushing in this game.

Third and two. Fields out of the pistol or out of the shotgun formation, fades back, wants to throw the swing now goes deep down the middle. Wilkinson wide open 3540 yard line. 40 or 35, 30 breaks a tackle at the 20, 15, 10, 5. It's a touchdown.

Diesel Wilkinson. Just what you were talking about, Larry. You know, backups were in the game there. They had a cornerback and a safety, you know, down on the bottom side of the screen covering one tight end. Everything was flowing going out towards the three receivers side left.

One guy running free up the middle of the field. And that guy is East Valley's best player. Wilkinson. 67 yards on the passing touchdown there from the quarterback Fields. Here's the PAT high snap.

So Hooper continues his march up over a hundred rushing yards. I have him 20 carries for those hundred and forty two yards and one touchdown.

Plus he's passed for three. He's accounted for all four of the scores in this ball game for Shadow Park. Look for a blitz potentially up the middle here by both outside linebackers. That's what they're showing. And Hooper gets by the blitz, spins out of the 45 yard line and is finally knocked off his feet as he gets to the 48 for a gain of about five more yards in a first down.

Just got there a touch early. You know, just like I was alluding to a little bit earlier, you know, in the show was if you get there a little too early, you can kind of get sawed off or pushed down, you know, on a pulling guard. That's what looked like happened right there. So Shadow park working on the clock. There's 25 still on the play clock.

7:33 on the game clock here in the fourth quarter. Highlanders nursing a seven point lead. 28:21. We had a scoreless first quarter. We were scoreless for a good chunk of the second quarter as well.

And the offenses have come to life here in the last couple of quarters here this ballgame. East Valley showing a blitz again down to five on the play clock. Hooper will run wide to the left side with the blitzers chasing him and he will be to the midfield stripe and still going. And finally we run out of bounds they never do tackle and they run him out up at about the 48 or 49 yard line of east Valley. That'll be a run of around three, maybe four yards.

And bring up second down at about seven here. So we'll call it a three yard run for Hooper. And they will continue to work on the clock, counting down to 15 seconds on the play clock 6:36 now on the game clock. Schadl gets to the line of scrimmage, eight on the play clock, center over the ball, ready to roll. Hooper lets it go down to three, calls the play, kicks the snap, runs to the left side, gets inside the 45 yard line, but will be stopped short of the first down at about the 44.

That'll be a run of about five yards for Hooper and bring up third and two here. And they will run another 40 seconds here off this play clock third and two. Probably expect to see another blitz. It'll be interesting to see where the blitz comes from too, because if it comes from one side like it did before, he'll just run to the other side. Yeah, no, he did a good job at checking the play at the line of scrimmage, adjusting and going the other way.

Come out in the empty formation. They've had a lot of success with this. This is where they score their two point conversion. Wings to either side, not showing a blitz this way. Here's a Cooper upper keeping it himself.

Somebody missed him in the backfield and he's able to struggle Forward for a first down down to the 41 yard line. A pick up three yards, but they had a chance at him in the backfield. Yeah, Cooper did a great job evading the defensive end there. Had him, you know, for a tackle for loss and just sidestepped him, you know, said I'm a better athlete than than you. And got the first down for the Highlanders.

Jacob Brown, who had a chance at him there on the blitz. So first down and 10, Schadel ball at the East Valley 41 down to 515 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. And they can take 25 more seconds off the play clock here. Hooper just standing there, hands on hips, 15 on the play clock, 5:03 on the game clock. And he'll stand there for a few more seconds now.

Starts to call the signals with seven on the play clock, Claps his hands, takes the snap, wants to pass, throws deep on the right side looking for Boston, who's open. He got it. The five into the end zone. Touchdown. The fourth connection from Hooper to Boston in this game and this one for potentially a clinching touchdown with 446 remaining to play.

Interesting play call right there. You know, you run the clock down. Definitely caught him off guard, electing to pass it right there. 4 minutes left in the game. Had success, you know, on the ground with Cooper.

Interesting call there. Worked out super, super well for the Highlanders. So fourth receiving touchdown for Boston in this game and the point after trial be a two point conversion. Try a 40 yard passing touchdown there. They're gonna go for two again here.

So I wonder if Lake is hurt. Just joining the injured players. Hooper rolling to the right side, throwing and a sliding catch by Boston made for the two point conversion. So 36, 21 is the score now. So the two point pass to Boston following the 40 yard passing touchdown to Boston from Hooper.

And just like that, it's now a 36, 21 game with 446 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. So here is your STCU touchdown drive recap. A 62 yard drive capped by the 40 yard pass from Hooper to Boston. Their fourth connection of the game. And it is now Shadow park after the two point conversion.

This was one of those hard kickoffs bounced off an East Valley player. Schadl had a chance to recover that and it bounced off one of the Highlanders and it's picked up by Jake Gallagher of East Valley, saving the game for the Knights. If Schadl comes up with that ball, they win the game. But instead East Valley keeps the ball, they stay alive and they can strike quickly with Diesel Wilkinson. We just saw that a moment ago.

Yeah, they're gonna try to have to get a, you know, four receiver quads formation, try to confuse the secondary for the depleted Shadel Park Highlanders. Nicholson split left, three men wide right. Wilkinson is the Wildcat. Wildcat running back here with a man with him in the backfield, they only had one receiver covering three players over on the other side of the field and East Valley wasn't snapping the ball. Now they have two covering three.

Here's a quick throw and a catch and immediately a tackle as Nesbitt comes up with it at the 47 yard line to gain a five. But they needed to snap that quite a few seconds before they did. Yeah, they, they had to let him, you know, have a substitute come in. But still there was only two Shadow park defensive players covering three receivers. They're confused in their secondary right now.

Second down and five, Wilkinson still the quarterback. Pitch back, reverse flags down and it's wide open over the 45 to the 40. Getting down to the 35 and wrestle down at about the 31 yard line is the runner that is Dean Deakins. But a flag down and let's see what this is all about. I don't know if it was an illegal formation or looks like it was something on the offense.

16 yard pickup on the play, but it looks like it'll come back. Illegal shift is going to be the call. So that'll be a five yard penalty. They'll move it from the 47 of Schadl back to the 48 of East Valley. So the yardage they picked up on the previous play comes right back and so it'll be second and 10 now.

And now fields back in at quarterback. Nicholson and Hanson split to the left side. Wilkinson and one other man wide to the right here out of the shotgun. Fields brings Wilkinson in motion and hands it to him. Fly sweep left side trying to get to the Corner over the 50, down to the 45, lowered his shoulder and has run out of bounds down there on the tackle for Shadow park was a number 49 that we do not have on our roster.

So we can't tell her or is that 48? That's 48 and that is Andre Jones. But again to the 45 of seven yards it'll be third and three. Wilkinson unofficially 80 rushing yards, 105 receiving yards. Fields the quarterback 352 left here in the third quarter.

Wilkinson fly motion. They hand it off Nesbitt as Wilkinson going through on the fly motion. They faked it to him and gave it to Nesbitt and he just plows his way with the offensive lineman. Now flags are down and this is going to be on East Valley for tackling one of the Schadl players that was stumbling backward over the top of the pile. And I don't know that the Official really needed to throw a flag on that.

So it's going to be a dead ball foul, I believe. So the play will gain down to the 45 for six yards and let's see what this is going to be here. Unsportsmanlike personal foul, East Valley. And so let's see if this is a dead ball foul. It is.

So one of the East Valley guys just got a little bit over anxious there. I think somebody from the Shadow park defensive line is good with, you know, trash talking and probably mouthed off to the East Valley night right there offensive lineman because it was significantly late after the play that he brought him down to the turf. So the penalty after the play goes back to the 46 of East Valley and so it'll be first down and 10 from there. So they get the first down, but it's not a first and 25 situation. Still first and 10, but 15 yards back from where they were here on the slant.

Very nearly picked off as they tried to get it on the slant that time and jumping in front of that and nearly having the interception was Alexander Cornello and he would have had a pick six. Yeah, definitely stepped right in front of it. Was kind of still looking at the receiver coming across the middle there when he batted it down. So didn't look like he was, you know, completely focused on, you know, receiving the ball from the quarterback there. So trips now to the right side, one man wide to the left.

On second down and 10 at their own 46 fields the quarterback out of the shotgun, takes a high snap, fades back, looks, steps up, moves to his right, throws deep into the middle of the field under thrown and that ball is caught by Wilkinson as he grabbed it away from the secondary player that was intercepted by Toala and Wilkinson just ripped it out of his hands and it's going to be down to the 25 yard line. Good physical play there, you know, by Wilkinson, you know you can commend the senior, right. You know you're down two scores, the door is closing on your season and he's still in there competing for the ball, you know, great catch by the young kids. Young man, 29 yards on the play. First and 10 from the 25 yard line now.

Motion coming through to the left side. Running back Nesbitt shifts to the right. Nesbitt with a call, running left has a seam inside the 20, cuts inside the 15 and only brought down at about the 14 yard line. That'll be good for first down yardage and a pickup of 11 more yards for Nesbitt. Both he and Wilkinson starting to advance on 100 yards rushing in this game.

The clock, Shadow Park's allies now at 250. And East Valley's ready to go. Fields out of the shotgun and now what do we have? Whistles and a timeout taken by Shadow park here with 247 remaining in the fourth quarter play against Shadl, they're without a lot of guys. They've got several players on the bench on crutches and so forth and not a whole lot of guys.

They have almost as many guys on crutches are sitting on the bench injured and out as they do guys standing on the sidelines right now. And so a timeout taken by Schadl there to let their defense rest a little bit here. If you're East Valley, 247 remaining in the game, Cole, you've got to get a touchdown here and then probably an onside kick. You used one timeout earlier. So they only have two timeouts left at this point in time.

Only thing that might change is they score on the next play. Yeah, they're going to have to air it out here for sure. Starting to get a little bit colder. So hopefully the quarterback Fields has some hand warmers, you know, in his pocket because definitely getting more nippy out there. They got Wilkinson split out by himself up on the top of our screen here.

Let's see if they bring two receivers or two defenders over to cover him. Looks like number nine and number 13 for Shadow Park. Got a corner and then a deep safety playing over there. So now here's a bad snap over the head of the quarterback. He goes back to the 30 yard line.

Lost the ball, still loose outside the 30 yard line. And it's finally recovered by East Valley. Nesbitt came up with it, but a snap that got by the quarterback and that is a 19 yard loss on first down. Wow, unfortunate play there for East Valley. So now they're in a bad spot here with the clock running and they've got it.

Second down and 29 at the shadow 33. Nesbit, the running back fields, the quarterback trips to the right. One man split left back to throw it. Fields pressure, throws a little screen for Nesbitt, but Eichstad has him and brings him down at the 30 yard line. That would have been a good play except Eichstadt read it and brings down the ball carrier after a short gain.

Yeah, the defensive lineman there was able to feel, okay, no one's blocking me anymore. So he settles down, finds the running back and you know, just hops on his back, gain of a couple. So third down now and about 30. No, 26 yards for a first down. Third and 26.

Fields to throw. Max Prescia fires it out on the right side. Jump ball for Wilkinson, batted away, incomplete. There were three Highlanders back there along with Diesel Wilkinson who went up over the top. Everybody, the ball little under thrown.

And so now it's 4th down and 26 back at their shadow park. 30 in the ball game lives in the balance here with a minute 39 remaining. Yeah, I think we're going to see a similar throw. I think we're going to get Wilkinson up on the top of our screen with the jump ball. Yeah, Wilkinson split to the right side, the far sideline as we look at it here.

And they have another receiver out with him, Nicholson. And two tight ends in the game trying to max protect here. Fields. Now we'll throw it back to one of the offensive linemen who drops the ball. That's a lateral.

It's picked up by Nesbitt and he'll run it up to the 32 yard line. The offensive lineman there quit on the play, Tyler Grant, because he thought it was a pad, but it was a lateral pass so a ball was still alive. And so they can't. I don't know what they were trying to do there on fourth down and 26 from the 30 yard line, but a backward pass to an offensive lineman and they turned it over on downs. Yeah, Larry, they came out in a quads formation right there.

So they didn't have a tight end or, you know, a receiver split out to the short side of the field. So the lineman was the last guy in the end of the line of scrimmage. So they were thinking that the safety in the corner would jump over to the other side and they might catch him sleeping. And as it was, it ends up being a two yard loss. Now, two timeouts still for East Valley.

We'll see what they elect to do here. Schadl puts a knee down and East Valley trailing by two scores, will not stop the clock. And so the clock will continue its countdown here. Hooper the quarterback. A 32 yard run made it a 7 to nothing ballgame, but East Valley comes back. They get the touchdown. A one yard run by Titan Nesbitt kept a 60 yard drive and that evened the game at seven. Shadow park had to punt.

East Valley though turned it over on an interception and toward the end of the first half a two play 46 yard drive as Caden Hooper the quarterback found Jacob Boston on a 38 yard pass and run touchdown. And it was 147 Shadow park at the intermission. Schadl had to punt does they got the ball to start the second half of play. East Valley came down, tied the game, a 64 yard drive, a 3 yard Nesbitt touchdown run made it a 1414 game but shadow park came back. I think just a four play drive.

53 yards and the final 38 again Hooper to Boston and this play put Shadow park on top for good. And it is our play of the game presented by Adams tractor. Here comes the blitz. Hooper wants to throw. Left sidelines man open.

It is caught breaking a tackle. Boston down the sidelines 201510 5. And he gets by Diesel Wilkinson. Does he score? Yes.

Touchdown Shadow Park. So Boston on 4th and 5 is able to break that one 38 yards for the touchdown and it's now a 20 to 14 game with 242 remaining to play. Here in the third quarter they tried the two point conversion, it was no good. Then East Valley tried a fake punt that did not work. Hooper to Boston again for the third time a 10 yard pass, two point conversion.

Good 2814 fields to Wilkinson. 67 yard passing touchdown. That made it 2821 in favor of Schadl. But East Valley could not get the stop as shadow went 62 yards. A 40 yard pass from Hooper to Boston.

Two point conversion pass to Boston made it 36:21 and Cole, that was that and a win for Shadow Park. They end their regular season at 7 and 2. Yep, yep. Now they're just gonna, you know, go home tonight, celebrate the win and then be tuned in for the West Valley game tomorrow. Probably go out in Pullman.

Right. So not going to be going down to Pullman but definitely tuning in on the radio or TV checking the live scores to see if they're going to get any help from their friends up here in Spokane. Yep. Shadow park needs a West Valley loss tomorrow at Pullman and a Rogers win here at 1 Spokane Stadium against North Central. That would create a three way tie for second place at 4 and 2 in GSL.

Two way play and a Kansas City tiebreaker on Tuesday here at One Spokane Stadium. If West Valley wins they will be the second seed behind Clarkston into the two way state playoffs. If Rogers, if West Valley loses and Rodgers loses as well tomorrow then West Valley's the number two seed, so Schadl needs a Rogers win as well as the loss by CV in order to try to advance into the state playoffs.

Caden Hooper, 24 carries, 158 yards and one touchdown in this ballgame. Nick Tilton, before he got hurt, had three carries for 22 yards. Diesel Wilkinson, 14 carries for 80 yards. Nesbitt, I had him at 18 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Fields passing, I had him 161 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception. Wilkinson, one out of two for five yards. Wilkinson, five catches, 134 receiving yards.

So Wilkinson, 80 rushing yards, 134 receiving yards in this ballgame. Big game West Valley of Pullman A West Valley wins. West Valley wind advanced them into the state playoffs. If they lose and Rodgers wins against North Central here at 7:30 at 1 Spokane Stadium tomorrow night then Rogers, West Valley and Shadow will be in a three way tie for second place and have to have a Kansas City tiebreaker next week.
