Two of the great GSL teams getting ready to go. And speaking of great things in the gsl, it's time for our pre game interview tonight in this pregame segment is brought to you by Capstone Construction and Ridgeline Grady Emerson joined here by Meade athletic director John Barrington as we get set here on the pregame show. And John, your Mead football team, interesting spot they are in so far this year. They came in getting ready to run two quarterbacks so you could earn the varsity starting spot. Both of them ended up going down.

Now they're onto their third stringer who is a sophomore, Landon Thomas. That's kind of thrown some things around this year. But you've been around the program, tell us how they're handling this kind of 20, 22, 49ers situation. Well, it's definitely been difficult. It's difficult on the kids and the coaches.

It's. It's a shame we lost our quarterbacks. We might get Lehman back a little bit tonight. But yeah, Landon stepped in and done a really good job for us looking forward. He's got a week or two to get something under his belt and probably going to play a little bit better tonight.

That's our hope. I would think so. So what else do we have going on around Mead? I know this is homecoming week. What else is coming up?

Yeah, you mentioned a homecoming. So a big halftime show here tonight by our marching band and we got youth football players from the area on with our guys. Battle of the bats was Tuesday night. Mead, Mount Spokane, slow pitch softball, great event down there at Merkle Field. All the schools in the GSL got to play under the lights.

It was just a fantastic event, especially for girls softball. Yeah, a lot, a lot going on. Meade, Central Valley, getting ready to come your way at the top of the hour here on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. Just so everyone knows, so we get all the impropriety out of the way.

Greg Talbot here with John Barrington on the play by play. I do teach at Mead, so I know a little bit about some of these kids. One of the interesting things about this Meade team this year, John, is, is the tenacity that they've had to show with all the injuries. Tell us a little bit about how the rest of the team has handled the quarterback going down. Well, I think they've rallied around whoever's turn it was right on a Friday night.

Coach Stamps mentioned that they've had a great week of practice. They had guys competing at every level, every position. It's been difficult to deal with, hard to watch guys go down. But again, I think our guys are ready this week to put a better product out on the field. They're excited and you know they've had to come through all that adversity.

Edu Newthink back here on the Arby's GSL Game of the Week on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM tonight the Central Valley Bears and the Mead Panthers getting ready to go off at the top of the hour. Central Valley 2 and 2 so far in the young 2023 season. Mead Panthers 1 and 3. These are two pretty perennial strong contenders in the Greater Spokane League if not exactly powerhouses the last couple of years, but both programs have fallen on on at least comparatively rough times so far here in the 2023 season.

Central Valley lost so many players compared to the powerhouse team they'd had the last couple of years. Mead lost a lot of their senior stars in the offseason as well and they had their first two quarterbacks go down with injuries already this year, forcing things over to the sophomore quarterback Landon Thomas. So it's going to be a pretty full stadium regardless tonight. These are two of the great teams in the Greater Spokane League traditionally and the last couple of years that's coming your way at 7 o'. Clock.

Elsewhere, let's take you around the rest of the Greater Spokane League in our pregame scoreboard as we see what's going on tonight over at 7 o'. Clock. Here are the mid sized schools and the big schools coming your way in the GSL tonight we have Lewis and Clark and Cheney, West Valley and East Valley. Fun rivalry game. Mount Spokane or on the Idaho side of the border taken on Post Falls and that's going to be a fun game because two weeks ago a lot of people in the GSL thought University High School would have a good shot against Post Falls over on the Idaho side of the border.

They did not. Uh, I got run. So knowing that Post Falls is good, Mount Spokane against Post Falls should end up being a really entertaining competitive game. Gonzaga Prep, Ridgeline also going on and knowing Ridgeline beat Mead two weeks ago and they are now really making a push, that game might be more competitive than you thought it would have been at least a couple of years ago.

Elsewhere in the gsl, Shadow park has taken on Rodgers. That's going to be a fun inter GSL game and wrapping up with the bigger schools. Ferris will take on U High elsewhere for the smaller schools around the area, the big one tonight is Deer Park. Freeman. Two very powerful small teams, they're getting going at 7 o' clock down in Freeman, Scotty's hosting and on the Idaho side of the border some pretty big matchups as well.

Sandpoint is taken on Lake City, Moscow is playing Lewiston and Coeur d' Alene is out of state. Tonight they're down in Union, which is a team in Oregon. So that's the rest of the Greater Spokane League scoreboard tonight on the Arby's GSL game of the week. Meanwhile, up here at Union Stadium in Mead, the sun is starting to set out beyond the left side of the stadium. First night and man, it feels like almost two weeks that we have a clear night, some beautiful sun, not full of clouds.

And how happy are the Mead Panthers to have a real home game. This is a team that is finally now at the end of September getting their first true Friday night lights home game experience of this season. Week one, they had to play on a Friday night before school started. Week two, they had to play on a Thursday. Then it was a bye week, then they played on the road a little while and now here they are the final weekend of September, finally playing a Friday night home game.

Now that school is in, the question is with their quarterbacks hurts, can they take down Beau Reisenhour, the senior quarterback and the rest of the Central Valley Bears? We'll find out about that as we take a look at our keys to the game, starting lineups, key players and more on the other side of the break here on the pregame show, which rolls on right after this. Coming your way at 7 o' clock tonight on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. Time to bring in tonight's color commentator on the pregame show, Noah Buckman joining us for the keys to the game tonight and really for the rest of the broadcast. Okay Noah, let's start with the Central Valley Bears.

First of all we have to talk about the fact that they want to keep their offense on the field tonight as much as possible. Because as we look down at the field tonight, it looks like J. J. lehman, who we thought was injured the last couple weeks for Mead, it looks like he might be ready to go and play tonight. We see him out there taking snaps.

So if that's true, they really need to be leaning here on Bo Reisenhour, the Mount Spokane transfer who has come into Central Valley. This kid has established himself as a powerhouse really early on. One of the very top yardage earners in the Greater Spokane League. He can throw, he can run. Mead needs to do their best to really guard against this guy because if Reisenhour stays on the field, that's not good news for Meade.

No, not at all. Yeah, Meade's going to have to play really tough defense, try and get Central Valley off the field, so that way they can get JJ Lehman back comfortable after missing the last two weeks or the last week of games with injury. No doubt about it. Central Valley, like we know, they love to run that spread offense, right? And the interesting thing about Central Valley is they stay on the field, they graduate guys, they're a great team, and then all of a sudden they've got four or five great new receivers later on this year.

So Central Valley, their goal is to stay on the field. They want to let Reisenhour cook because look at all these great receivers. They have Kymani Davis, Kaden Adams, Caden lanphear, who's averaging 20 yards of catch, and Branson Olson. Central Valley just wants to spread it around, eat the clock, stay on the field. Yeah, 100%.

That's the ultimate goal. Mead's going to have a tough job trying to in that secondary, trying to stop. Trying to stop Eisenhower and keep him off the field for as long as possible. Yeah. So speaking of keys for the Mead Panthers tonight, this is going to be the interesting thing, right, because we had drawn up a bunch of keys to the game for Meade, expecting that Landon Thomas, number six, the sophomore, the third stringer, was going to be playing quarterback tonight.

We don't know. Now, now that we see J. J. lehman out there potentially taking snaps, we're not exactly sure who's getting ready to go here. But assuming that Landon Thomas, the sophomore quarterback who justifiably so has struggled out on the field, if you're Mead, you just want to feed your running backs.

You want to feed the juniors Keegan Mallon and Jimmy Fromm, if you're me, do you want to keep your offense on the field but utilize more of a running game knowing you don't have much of a passing game. Yeah, 100%. And Mead's been able to eat on the ground. It's just a matter of how well can that offensive line hold their shape and give the running backs that hold that they need to fill so that way they can get up field and really drive down that field. And as for the Meade defense, knowing how good Seavee is through the air on short, I guess, and medium and long passes, with their four or five wide receiver set, they've got to try to force Central Valley into third downs.

You know what I mean? You got to stop their running game and make them earn the first downs that it'll take to beat you. Yeah, yeah. And that's the ultimate goal, is to get the third down and get them off the field and really try and force that third and long and not make it third and manageable. All right, so kickoff is coming up in 13 minutes here on the RB's GSL game of the Week.

Let's begin with Mead on offense. Here's their offensive line, Ben Barfield, Vance Gustafson, Shawn Jones, Marcus Fetcho and Brandon Maddox.

So they've got a good line but boy their big names really come in the skill positions. Keegan Mallon and Jimmy Fromm are both the running backs, kind of a thunder and lightning duo. At wide receiver they have listed Mac McShane who has really worked his way up in terms of playing time as the early year has gone on, along with their star wide receiver Max Workman. But look at this. Noah listed at starting quarterback number 11.

It's JJ Lehman. He's back from his injury. Meade has a much better chance tonight. Yes, 100%. They've really leaned on their on JJ Lehman because in week two or in week one, Riker Herd went out for the year their their main quarterback and so they've really had to lean on JJ Lehman to carry the mail all year long and he's done a great job so far.

Yeah, good to have him back. Let's take a look at this me Defense on the line Austin Frederick, Jameson Emery and Wyla Torlefson along with Jacob Hendricks. In the linebacker room, it's Cam Mattingly, Braden Harvey, also a very good tight end, and Madden, rab and the DBS. You might know some of these names. Mac McShane, Landon Thomas, Ashton Uran and Max Workman.

So a lot of stars play both ways for the Mead Panthers. Starting lineup for the Central Valley Bears. Leading them out at quarterback, Beau Reisenauer, the Mt. Spokane transfer who has been phenomenal. Danra Smith, one of the most electric players in the Greater Spokane League is the running back.

Three starting wideouts, Kaden Adams, Brandon Olson and Camden Lanphear. Wally Pipe, Wally Palmer is the tight end, along with Shide Miller, Bush, Plunkett McVeigh and Hampton. On the lines. A lot of those guys play two ways on defense as well. At corner, Kymani Davis and Daniel Iams, two of their cornerbacks, and also wide receivers.

Bo Butner, the coach's son, at free safety, Trey Schmaltz at strong safety. And the rest of their players on defense, demars, Baden Beard, Conor Monks, Dallas Parish, Carter Albertson, Skyler Hardy and Tanner Roby. So all of a sudden here, knowing that JG Lehman is going to play for Meade, what does this do for Central Valley here? Noah puts him in a tough spot because JJ Is a dual threat quarterback. He can run it really well and he can also heave it downfield really far.

So Central Valley coming into this game two and two so far this year, the Mead Panthers one and three, although that's because they had both of their early season quarterbacks go down. Although we just found out that JJ Lehman is back from injury and he's going to play at QB1 tonight for the Mead Panthers. Time to bring back in Noah Buckman, our color commentator for tonight's broadcast.

And Noah, as we get ready to see these teams do battle, two traditional powerhouses in the Greater Spokane League who have kind of fallen on hard times here in 2023. What kind of match are we expecting tonight knowing that JJ Lehman is back and and what are you thinking we're going to see tonight? It's going to be a hard fought battle because both teams are basically in a must win position to win out and make the playoffs. It's going to be tough because Central Valley's got to keep their head on a swivel and watch JJ Lehman hard knowing he can run and throw it long and for Central or for me, they've got to do what they've done all year.

They've got to pound the ground and get and see just how well JJ Lehman feels coming back. Is Meade going to at least keep this one close tonight. What do you think? It's going to be close. We'll see who ends up on top.

It's a squib kick left to right across your radio dial. It's brought up field by Central Valley's Bo Butner, the coach's son. He's almost nearly to the 40 yard line and that's where Central Valley will take over on offense, driving right to left across your radio dial tonight as Beau Reisenhower the senior quarterback and the rest of the Bears come out from the far side sideline ready to get their offense underway tonight.

They'll begin at the 38 yard line on the right side of the field. Driving right to left they come out with the three wide receiver look to the far side, none to the left Reisen our the six foot senior quarterback, the righty surveys the field, sends a man in motion, takes a look at the me defense. Takes the snap. It's down at the knees. He dumps it off to the near side.

It's Camden Lamb. Fear he's able to get a gain of maybe one on the play as he sweeps it out to the right. Down he goes. Looks like no gain on the play. It'll be second down and long.

Yeah, great pass or great rush defense by the Panthers to get to that far side and stop the ball. No doubt about it. So Bo Reisenhower, the Moment Spokane transfer. J. lehman is back, but bad news to see another quarterback go down even if he's playing defensive back tonight. Yeah, that's tough for me, especially if JJ ends up not going the full 48.

Yeah, great pressure there by Central Valley to get past the offensive line and really put pressure on J. J. lehman. All right now, second down and 10 for the Meade Panthers.

Yeah, great pressure there by Central Valley to finally get home and really put some pressure on JJ Lehman. Unfortunately didn't have anybody open to get it off. Well, luckily for me, I thought that was a loss of 5. The referees are going to mark that forward progress for Lehman instead it'll be third down and 12. That's a generous call.

Yes, it is indeed. All right, so what can me do? Mallon and Fromm flanking Lehman in the backfield. One receiver out to the right. That's Mack McShane.

Here it is on third down and 12. They're on the Jets. We begin, it's Workman left to the right, to the left this time. 35, 30, 25. Chase out of bounds for naming orthodontics.

First down around the 20. The jet sweep works literally every time. Yeah, Mead's Meads really sticking to that jet sweep. And it's working a lot for them tonight. Getting it with the running backs with their best wide receiver and Max Workman, who can really turn a field and go.

Have to imagine they were planning to kind of use that anyway, knowing that they might not have had Lehman tonight. You have to imagine they were scheming up ways to be creative. Running the ball already. Now it's working since their main quarterback is back. And they're down to The Central Valley 20.

Turn and handoff. It's Jimmy Fromm. He's been phenomenal tonight. He stays on his feet. Picks up a gain of five yards.

Yeah, good run there by by Jimmy Fromm to get upfield and through that defensive line to pick up a good gain here on first down. And for what it's worth, when I met Jimmy Fromm I asked him, hey, you know, you're in Spokane, you're an athlete, you have the from last name. Are you related to Richie Fromm from Gonzaga? He said no. No relation.

But people ask me that all the time. Second down and six off, the gain of four here. Clock running 240 to go in the first quarter. Meade leading Central Valley seven nothing but knocking on the door looking for more points. They've been in the red zone on every drive tonight.

Pistol formation. Here's Lehman play action. Throws over the middle. It's caught for a touchdown. What a catch.

It's Simon Rosselli. Roselli never catches passes. The wide receiver comes off the bench and makes it a 13 nothing game for Meade. Yeah, good job on the poster out there by Simon Roselli had. There was no Central Valley receiver in the area, so it was an un.

It was an unmacked unmarked touchdown for me there to go. Up 13 nothing here. Late first quarter. Man, so many talented guys on this Mead team. You weren't expecting Roselli to be in there for a touchdown tonight.

But he is 13 nothing. Here comes the pat. It is up, it is good. And Here is your STCU touchdown drive. Recap.

Mead goes 85 yards in six plays in one minute and 55 seconds. Noah Buckman. That's the kind of drive that if you're Central Valley, you might be a little scared of because if Mead can do that in the first quarter and you can't hold them back, it might be a long night. Yeah, it's going to be a very long night of Central Valley can. If Central Valley keeps it up the way they're on right now, they just cannot stop the jet sweep to the outside.

And me to better keep, keep with it right now because that's the one thing that's working for them all night. All right, so Central Valley is about to send Bo Reisenhauer and the rest of their team back out there on offense for another drive here. Noah Buckman, what can they do? Because it feels like rising hours, actually getting plenty of time on most plays. Either he's just not finding his guys or they're not getting open.

I can't tell which. It's hard or they're just dropping passes, which sometimes has been happening too. Yeah, they, I don't really know why, but Central Valley is usually really good on all parts of the offensive side of the ball and they just cannot get anything going right now, especially with the wide receivers because they've dropped really easy passes that would have converted into probably some pretty lengthy drives.

All right, so Mead back out to kick this one away with a 14 nothing lead. Now with 225 to go in the first quarter, another high kick. This one is brought back by Central valley at the 35 yard line. Cannon Danes has it. He's able to get up toward the 40 before he is taken down.

So once again, pretty short field here for Central Valley on offense. They've got 60 yards to go. They trail by two touchdowns. Bo Reisenhour coming into this game has about 900 pass yards this year already. He's been amazing.

What is it about the defense for me that is holding him in check? Probably just the fact that they're. That means just getting lucky because they've been. They've slipped away from their marks on the, on the outsides and Central Valley's just dropped easy passes. All right, first and 10 for Central Valley on the right side of the field from their own 40 on the ground.

That is Danner Smith back to the line of scrimmage and he's wrapped up. No gain on the play. Great tackle in there by Kamani. Yeah, great job there by Kamani to Get inside and tackle the running back before he could really get up field. And the clock is running now.

Tough loss last week against Gonzaga Prep, but they're really coming back with vengeance tonight against Central Valley. They come out for third down and four from their own 28 yard line. That ball is on the ground. Oh, man. Central Valley recovered a fumble.

They take over at the Mead to 20 yard line. Mead botches a big third down play and gives Central Valley their first real chance to score tonight at the start of the second quarter. Yeah, great job there by Central Valley to get inside and force that football loose. And they're poised for touchdown or they're poised for points. Now I didn't, I didn't have, I didn't have that one on my bingo card a minute ago at the start of the quarter.

No, not even a little because Mead was really cruising. All right, so now outcomes. Central Valley. Beau Reisenhour and the Bears have struggled mightily tonight to get anything going on offense. But now they take over from the Mead 20 on the right side of the field.

Only 20 yards to go. Here they go. Handoff up the middle. It's Bo Butner stays on his feet. Down inside the 15.

Shoestring tackle. Gain of 7 yards. Great job there by Butner to slip inside and get past the defensive line and get up field and get a couple more yards after contact. Big seven yard gain and this kind of opens up the playbook. Now you can run, you can pass.

Yeah, yeah. See what Reisenhour feels like doing here as his wide receivers have struggled here. Two receivers split to his left, one to his right. He drops the snap. Oh, he fell on it.

But Mead came really close. Third down. Yeah. I don't know what it is with Reisner right now, but he is really struggling on both sides of the ball. Very lucky there to get that ball back.

Central Valley does not look like themselves at all. I know they're 2 and 2 this year. Wins against Lewis and Clark and Cheney, losses to Moses Lake in Ridgeline, but I mean this is a team that has almost a thousand passing yards the first four games. It looks like they can't even do anything through the air at the moment. Yeah, they just, they're struggling.

Wide receivers have dropped passes and their quarterback is just not feeling comfortable right now. Third down and nine for Central Valley. Three receivers to the left, one to the right. Here's the snap. Reisenhour looking deep.

And now the Panthers take over after the block kick on their own 33 yard line. Lehman back out at quarterback. Two receivers split to his right turns and hands off to Jimmy from. He cuts up along the right. He's been phenomenal tonight, the five foot six running back.

He turns up field around the 40. He's got a gain of four yards. Yeah, he may not be tall but he's, he's small and mighty and can really run. Great job there to turn and get up field for a pickup of five. You know everyone of course talks about his speed here at Mead, Noah, but what's also underrated is his vision.

He sees the hole and he goes. Yeah, he sees it. He goes, he look, he doesn't really look around that much but when he sees an opportunity he takes it. Referees gave him a gain. A five second down and five now for the Panthers.

lehman threw it high. It'll be second and ten. Yeah, great job there by Parish to really get in the face of J. J. lehman.

And I think, I think, I think. Oh, God. I think the running back there was blocked on the, on the pass. Just with how tall? No doubt about it.

And Central Valley saw the screen was coming as well. Yeah. So they got in the face of JJ Lehman and Keegan Mallon. Second down and 10. Snap off to the left.

Lehman recovers, throws it along near side. It's caught. And it's a shovel pass from receiver to wide receiver. It was caught and he pitched it to Keegan Mallon. He's across the 45 to the 50 on a wild Damon Orthodontics.

First down. What did we just see? That's an NFL kind of play. I've only seen that one other time and it was Kansas City Chiefs and it was. It was Travis Kelsey to Tyreek Hill back in.

And when they won the. They planned that. That was not improvised. That was a play. No, that was planned and that was perfectly executed.

It's like rugby. He caught it and then immediately pitched it to a streaking Keegan Mallon. Like a rugby play. Yeah. Unbelievable.

Mead gets it to 50. They get to midfield and here they come again. Lehman takes a snap, rolls out to the left. A lot of pressure coming. Got to get rid of it.

Throws to the near side. It's intercepted. Meade wastes the opportunity and it's picked off by Daniel Iams around the Central Valley 40 yard line. Second unnecessary takeaway that Meade has given to Central Valley in the first half. Yeah, poor throw there by by Lehman.

Needs to do a better job of trying to get that ball out of bounds and keep the possession alive for me. I know that pressure is coming and he was nearly sacked from the blind side, but man, you just got to throw that one away. Yeah, 100%. You've got to get that one out of bounds and keep that possession alive. So both of these teams, it seems like fighting to give this one away to the other team.

Both teams have blocked field goals. Both teams have now thrown an unnecessary interception or fumble. And Mead has not scored since early or midway through the first quarter. Now 449 to go in the second quarter. Still 14 nothing, Mead.

Here comes Central Valley. Riesenhauer drops back, throw over the middle. Out of the hands of Kaden Adams as he is rocked by one of the safeties yeah, great defense there. Great defense by Braden Harvey coming in and lowering the shoulder and delivering the hard hit to Lamper. That was an old school NFL safety kind of shoulder play.

Yeah. All right, so now second down and 10 after another dropped pass. Although I would say that one was not really the wideout's fault. That was more Bill Reisenhower's fault for leaving him hanging. Here comes the next play.

Handoff to Butner, scrambles out to the left, turns up field, able to get back to the line of scrimmage, spins ahead maybe for a gain of 1. Gain a 1 might have lost some yards. Great job there by Braden Harvey to get up in through the line and just really kind of trap. Really trapped Danner Smith and really give him nowhere to go. Third down and 10 for Central Valley.

No gain on the play. They're down 14, nothing to Mead, 415 to go here in the second quarter and the clock ticking toward halftime. Centrale has been bad passing the ball tonight. Very uncharacteristic. Here comes the snap to Risen hour.

Yeah, and knowing Jameson from a couple of classes, he's going to be in rough shape come Monday morning when we show up at school because he really takes pride in what he does on the field. He's getting some help from coach Keith Stamps. To the rest of the training staff.

This. I don't think this looks like a cramp. I think something happened to one of his legs. Yeah. Not being able to put much weight on that left leg.

And assistant coach Ivan Gustafson is back out there. Oh, he falls back down. Yeah. Ouch. This is not good.

No, Emory, it looks like he's genuinely hurt. This is bad news. Yeah, this is not good. Losing one of your captains halfway through the season is not. That is not good for a team.

Well, especially after all the injuries they've already sustained. Yeah, yeah. Losing. Losing JMO will be bad news for me. All right, so the clock will stop momentarily as they figure out what to do about Emory.

3:33 to go here in the second quarter. Mead leads 14 to nothing, so not that much time left for, for a good drive. Although it is going to be third and 10 for Mead whenever they get back out there on offense. But I think it's not, not a, not good news that Emory is still out there and, and still on the ground. I hope they don't have to carry him off.

Yeah, 100%. You can just hope that even he, if he can walk out with some assist, walk off with some assistance, that'll be good news heading into the weekend for, for jmo. They've got his helmet off. He's surrounded by his coaching staff and trainers. He's got his hands over his face.

Oh, boy. He's in real pain as they grab his left leg. Well, while they figure that out, in case you're just joining us, let's give you a quick scoring recap to find out how we got here. There were two first quarter touchdowns for the Mead Panthers. Keegan Mallon took it in for a second run from about 10 yards out to make it seven nothing early in the first quarter on Mead's first drive.

And then they came back out. JG Lehman picks up his first passing touchdown in quite a while to Simon Roselli, the wide receiver. The sophomore doesn't get a ton of playing time, but he made a great touchdown catch over the middle. Since then, this game has been back and forth and both teams have blocked field goals and been turning it over. I mean, this game has really hit a roadblock.

Noah Buckman since what, midway through the first quarter? Yeah, Central Valley's done a good job of finally figuring out Meade and being able to stop the big stop the big plays from really happening. And Mead's just doing a good job of keeping Rice Nauer and CV uncomfortable and getting their blocks downfield. And really keeping their wide receivers in check. And now this injury unfortunately has really looks like put a snag in this game.

All the cheerleaders on the left side of the field for Meadow taking a knee. The entire Mead team is taking a knee on the near side sideline. And the offense that's ready to go back out in a minute, whenever we resume this game, they're taking a knee, but they're talking to the play callers here, getting ready to go back out there and run the offense.

Not good that Emory is still out there. I'm worried they're gonna have to stretch him off. And now here comes the big red bag. He really might need some help getting off the field. Yeah, really unfortunate there.

Yeah, there goes the big red bag. They're bringing it out from the near sideline. The question is, are they going to have to bring out a stretcher for him? You really, really hope not. No.

You've had classes with them. Tell them about what it would mean for this meat team to potentially lose a key player and captain like that in a game like this. He's really confident. He loves. He loves being around his classmates.

He loves making jokes. And it's going to hurt the morale of not just the team, but it's going to hurt the morale of the classroom. Just without his positive spirits because he'll be in so much pain coming back to class on Monday. All right. They have brought out on the field what looks to be his mom, I would say, just to make sure that her son is okay.

That's always one of the things when you, you know, the sport of football. When you have a genuine injury like that, it reminds you that this can be a dangerous game. And, man, you never want to be the mom of the player when you see someone go down, huh? Yeah, that was me for a while. I always wanted to play football and then my mom and dad finally talked some sentence to me and said, if you play football, football, you're going to get hurt and it won't be pretty.

So I stayed away from football. It happens. All right, so once again we. In case you're just tuning in, we have a momentary stop of this game. Mead in Central Valley with a clock stoppage here at 3 minutes and 33 seconds to go in the second quarter.

14 nothing. Mead, one of the Meade captains, is down with an injury. The trainer keeps pushing on his left leg and he keeps grimacing. They tried to get him off with a little bit of help just over the shoulders of his assistant coaches and players. He Fell back down.

So that did not work. So we're trying to figure out exactly if this is a break or if this is something else. And now they've got the red bag out. They might try to carry him off here, but I guess we will see. All right, Emery sits up with the help of his coach, Keith Stamps.

Now the question is, can he stand up with the help of his trainers. And he's up, but they've got his left leg very elevated and now they're going to limp him off to the near side. Looks like he can only get his right leg down. His left leg is all taped. His mom is jumping up and down telling everyone that he's okay but he's in some pain.

Yeah, 100%. Not a good sign there for me with Jamo not being able to put any weight on that left leg of his. But the Mead student section clapping, cheering him on, appreciative that he was able to get off the field and appears at least to not need the ambulance or something, you know. Yeah, really glad they didn't need an ambulance for the second time this year to come back to the Union to help card a Meade player off the field. All right, so it looks like Central Valley is going to send their offense back out after the clock stoppage.

3 minutes and 33 seconds to go here in the first half. Mead leads 14 nothing. Central Valley though knocking on the door. They're down to the Mead 42. Here comes the snap.

They're on a pitch to the left side. It's the junior running back Bo Butner. He tries to turn the corner and he can't. Yeah, great coverage there by me to really drive to that ball and really force him to the sideline. Pretty amazing that Mead leads this game 14 nothing because I mean really, since the end of the first quarter no one, neither team has been able to do anything much on offense.

No, not at all. Each defense has figured themselves out, gotten lucky breaks and with under thrown passes and block field goals and really doing it. It's a defensive battle right now, but me's got the edge. Second down and 11 for Central Valley. They put a man in motion.

It's Camden Lanfear the wide receiver in the backfield. Then they now put him back in motion. They go to Lanphear. It's a wide receiver pass into coverage. It's tipped in the air by Max Workman on defense and it's nearly caught by Central Valley.

But it falls to the turf off the hands of Branson Olson and Max Workman. They went for a wide receiver pass. One on one coverage and Workman knocks it away. Yeah, great job there by Workman. Very easily.

Had that not have been tipped up, it probably could have been pass interferences. He didn't really have his head turned to find the ball. But great coverage there to force. Third and 11. Yeah.

Third down and 11 for Central Valley. Clock stops it. Two minutes and 40 seconds to go here in the first half. Centrally looking for their first points. Snow slapped snow.

Slow snap to rise an hour. He rolls right into coverage. One on one, picked again. These teams are throwing picks left and right. Yeah, for me it's Ashton Uran.

Is that his second pick of the game? I think it is. I think it is. Yeah. Great poor throw there by Reisenhour as he, as he just kind of lobs it in and really doesn't throw it with much force behind it.

But great job there by Meade. The come in and get it really and get Central Valley off the field again. Absolutely brutal. Both of these teams have had a field goal blocked. Both of these teams have thrown picks.

We've seen a couple of fumbles. Man, who knew that this was going to be such a weird game? But Mead comes back out with one more chance here in the first half. 2 minutes and 33 seconds to go here in the second quarter. It's 14, 14 nothing meet on top of Central Valley.

Lehman back out at quarterback for his first game in a couple of weeks. Turns and hands off to Keegan Allen. And a flag comes in. Yeah, looked like there was movement there on the mean line. So that'll be a penalty of 5 yards.

Second rather first down and 15 after the penalty. Unfortunate penalty there for me. All right, so Mead's got a long way to go now. They're back at their own, what, 13 yard line. However, you know, they went 85 yards earlier tonight in about this much time.

Here's Lehman. He drops back, throws to the far side. That one is hauled in past the 20 yard line. Great catch. And pulling that one down, Braden Powers, his first catch of the night.

Yeah, great catch there on the sideline. On the sideline corner route to be able to get two feet in and to be able to get a foot in and get outside. Clock keeps moving though. But Meade's got three timeouts left and in good shape. 207, 206 in the second quarter.

205, 204. Here comes the pass to the near side. Back to Harvey off his hands. It'll fall incomplete. It'll be third down and seven for Meade from their own 21 yard line.

Yeah, intended there for Braden Powers. Just under throw it. But clock stops at two minutes and Mead's got all three timeouts. They're in good shape. They've got to pick up the first down here.

That clock stopped at exactly two minutes to go here in the first half. Third down and seven for me. They'd like to stay on the field at least the rest of the way. Limit Central Valley's potential opportunities. Third down and seven for Lehman.

He's looked good passing the ball tonight. He drops back. Line drive throw far side pulled in by Max Workman. 35 yard line, gain of 15 in a name and orthodontics. First down.

Yeah, great job on that sideline route by Max Workman to get out of bounds and stop the clock. But more importantly, get the first down and keep the ball moving for me. They're the Mead cheerleaders. They came in high. I forget the exact placement at Nationals last year in terms of cheer.

148 to go in the first quarter. And Mead is on the move, nearing midfield. Yeah, great job there by Braden Powers to be able to keep his feet in and get the first down and get out of bounds and stop the clock. All right. Looks like we might have a timeout or something.

The referees are blowing their whistles and stopping the clock. Central Valley wants a timeout. I think that's a pretty good idea for the Bears. Make sure you have the, the defense you want out there and, and make sure Meade can stop their momentum, at least for the moment. Yeah, I think that's a well, well executed timeout there for Central Valley to be able to get their defensive a breather, but more importantly, see if they can stop the momentum of need.

I would agree. Now the other thing that I want to note here, Noah Buckman as we approach the end of the first half. Boy, this has been a slow first half of football. We've been playing for now over an hour and they're still out there on the field in the first half. Yeah, it's been.

And I'm surprised with how slow it's been. Means had some Slow games this year that they've had some that have gone more than three hours, but that's been with penalties and there's been hardly a flag thrown tonight. So it's just been slow. But the injury to Jamo hasn't. Hasn't helped with time purposes.

Yeah, we've still got half time to go in the entire second half of football, and it feels to me like this game is not done. All right, new first and 10 for me after the name of orthodontics. First down their own 43 yard line on the right side of the field, driving right to left. Here's the first down snap, pump play action pass over the top near side. He was going for Max Workman over shot him incomplete.

Second down and 10. Yeah, way to good job there by JJ Lehman to get it out because the pocket was collapsing and had he held on for a second longer, he would have been dropped for a loss. Second down and 10. Be taking their time out there. Getting ready to call another play.

No rush. Lehman surveys the defense. Here comes a blitz. Big pressure coming for Central Valley. Hands it off to Mallon.

And they brought him down for a loss. Boy, in fact, it was Jimmy from who took the handoff. Doesn't matter. Still a loss of two. Central Valley brought six and took him down behind the line of scrimmage.

Yeah, good pressure there by Central Valley. J. J. lee or Jimmy Fromm comes off a little bit gimpy on the near sideline, but great job by Central valley. And it's third and third and down and 11 now for me with 115 to go in the half.

Clock is running 1151-141131-12111. Looking to the near side, asking coach Keith Stamps, what should we do? Should we run it? Should we pass it? Taking their time.

Eight on the play clock. Seven, six. Mead wants to take a timeout. They haven't taken a timeout yet. And there it is with one on the play clock.

There it is. Me takes timeout. They will not take the penalty. I guess they didn't know what formation or at least grouping of guys they wanted out there. Noah.

So they'll take a timeout and drop a third down and 11 play. Yeah, well, well time time out there just to drop a plane to avoid making it the third down and even longer. All right, interesting. Yeah, it's been, it's been really confusing because we knew Central Valley was going to be going through the air quite a bit in the first half and have struggled to really find their momentum through the air.

But they've both teams have caught lucky breaks. I would say both teams have certainly struggled in their own ways. Except the first two drives for Mead. Right. It almost seems at this point like Central Valley just messed up couple times on those first two drives and has kind of figured something out since.

Mead back on the field. Third down and 10. Here's the snap. Knocked away. Boy high throw by JG Lehman.

And Central Valley had their defensive lineman rushing. They knocked it right out of the air. It'll be fourth down and 11. Mead will punt it away with 51 seconds to go in the first half. Still leading 14 nothing.

Yeah, that was great coverage there and great job by that defensive line to get through and disrupt the pass and the timing of J. J. lehman. Central Valley will get one last shot to go along here and try and find the end zone or find a way to get some points on the board before the half. They've had their opportunities.

They had a field goal that was blocked. They've dropped two touchdown. Would have been touchdown passes. Here's the punt away right to left across your radio dial. Danner Smith has it.

He's up at the 40 yard line and he's taken down immediately. Yeah, great coverage there by Matt McShane to get downfield and really make Central Valley earn the extra yards that they got after the contact. But great coverage there. All right, 45 seconds to go here in the first half. 14 nothing.

Mead. Central Valley just looking for some first half points to feel good about. Heading into the tunnel. We'll see what they can do. They take over on their own 40 on the left side of the field.

Driving left to right. They've got a 60 yard field to go. Looking for their first points and they've got a couple of timeouts. Reisenhour back out with an empty set. Five wide receivers.

He drops back. Pressure coming near side of the sideline. Incomplete. Off the hands of Branson Olson Again. Central Valley so out of sorts and out of rhythm on a previously elite passing game tonight.

I don't know what's going on. Yeah, I don't know either. It's been. They've been stymied on Offense, they just cannot get anything done through the air. Second down and 10.

Central Valley will try again. Handoff up the middle, Danner Smith out of the shotgun. Guest of the 45 taken down, gain of five yards. And they'll let the clock run centrally. Might head into the break with maybe one more shot toward the end zone.

Yeah, they, they've got to try and get something done and try and find a way to get into the end zone here. Yeah, CV has not taken a timeout. They're going to let the clock run 15 seconds and a half. 13, 12, 11, 10, 9. Rising hour out of the shotgun.

And Mead wants a timeout before he gets that playoff. Interesting. So me took a look at the Central Valley offense. Decided they don't. They did not like their own look on defense.

Called it back. And with nine seconds to go in the half, this is probably enough time for Central Valley to run two plays. Yeah, they have to get a quick sideline route, get out of bounds, stop the clock and then try and get one more. They don't even need to. Central Valley has two timeouts.

They've got their one time out left. So they gotta, they gotta find a way to get a quick play drawn up and then try for a deep shot to the, to the end zone. Yeah, so they're on their own 45 yard line here. For a high school kicker, you probably want to get down to about the 20. Yeah, is probably about it.

So maybe one good play, get out of bounds and then the question is. Or call it timeout. And the question is really, can you get down to the 20 in this next play? So I guess we'll find out. Mead has four guys all the way back at their own 40 yard line.

Nothing back here on the halftime show, I'm Greg Talbot, joined by Noah Buckman as we get ready to take you through this extended halftime here at Meade High School with our scoring recap, score scores around the rest of the Greater Spokane League and predictions. So first of all, let's give you this STCU scoring recap based on the first half of football. Mando, Buckman, Mead looked better the first quarter of this game, and they looked better immediately. Yeah, they did. And I think it helped having JJ Lehman back on the offensive side of the ball for them after being out for two weeks.

No doubt about it, he went down in that game against Ridgeline and they've struggled the last two weeks. Just in case you weren't aware. I don't want to be accused of any impropriety. I do teach at Meade High School. Occasionally we get called in to do these games on 700 ESPN.

So I've gotten to talk to the me players, a couple of juniors in my English class the last couple weeks about, you know, what's been going on the last couple weeks with your, with your third string sophomore quarterback in now that your main two starting quarterbacks are out. They said the kid's pretty good, but, you know, J. J. just knows the offense. He's played in the offense, he knows what he's doing.

And I had heard some rumblings this week that there was a chance that JJ Lehman is going to be ready tonight. And the fact that we saw him out there before the game taking snaps, throwing, I think you and I both looked at each other and went, oh, me. Welcome back. Yeah. Yeah, I definitely was feeling that because I heard from, I heard from Max Workman and, and Jamo that JJ might be back in time for this, but he's, he's really coming out and he's really proven that he deserves to be back in the lineup tonight after missing the last two weeks.

All right, so let's take you through your STCU scoring recap knowing that JJ Lehman was back in the fold. Oh, speaking of JJ Lehman, he's out there on the field. It looks like he's just been named Homecoming King. That's nice for him. At least for the sophomore class.

At least for the sophomore class. Okay, so here's your STCU scoring recap. Keegan Mallon, the first touchdown for the Mead Panthers, took it in from about 10 yards out. That was wonderful for him because they'd gone Jimmy from Mallon, from Mallon back to back, and it was Mallon that punched it in. Very next drive, JJ Lehman finds a Rare target, his first touchdown of the year, the sophomore tall wide receiver Simon Roselli.

Out of nowhere he rolled out right, found him over the middle, wide open touchdown pass. Yeah, just completely blown coverage there by sent by CV and Mead was able to recognize it and find Roselli for the wide open touchdown. As for the rest of the half it stayed 14 nothing after that. Both teams tried to kick a field goal, both teams had a field goal blocked, both teams threw interceptions. I believe we saw two interceptions just for Ashton Uran, for me.

So both these quarterbacks did try to force things in the first half. Yeah, yeah, they tried, they tried to force it in sometimes, not in some cases not a good way. But it's been a, it's been a pretty slow moving and pretty defensive minded and with little offensive impact in the first half. A lot of incompletions so far, a lot of interceptions, couple of fumbles. Really this game has been pretty evenly matched.

I would say after the first, I don't know, 10 minutes. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Because Mead really owned the first 10 minutes and since then it's been pretty 50, 50. All right, so it is still 14 nothing.

Mead here at halftime on top of Central Valley. The Mead dance team and band is out there on the field getting ready to do their big homecoming routine. They're in a bunch of what looks like white cubes or white boxes for their creativity here as the band is getting ready to play and in the color guard. Gonzaga Prep 49, Ridgeline 12. That game just kicking off the third quarter at the moment. Other games in action, Lewis and Clark against Cheney. Well, good for Lewis and Clark. They lead 24 nothing on top of the Hawks.

Other games in action at the moment, Spokane. Mount Spokane against Post Falls. Other games in the Greater Spokane League. A couple weeks ago we saw U High was going to Post Falls. We'd seen you high.

They have a lot of talent. We thought that maybe the Titans could make that a competitive game. They did not. They got blown up. So a pleasant surprise that we have a good close game happening right now over in Idaho.

It's Mount Spokane at Post Falls and the Mount Spokane Wildcats leading rather. No, it's Post Falls. Post falls is leading 13 to 7. So that's a little bit of surprise, but that's a good close game. And in terms of rivalry games, we have East Valley against West Valley, West Valley leading 21 to 7 at halftime.

Other games in progress that we don't have scores at yet, but that we will share with you in the post game show. Shadow park and Rogers playing as well as Ferris U High and Deer park and Freeman are playing at small school level elsewhere around the area. Sandpoint playing Lake City tonight. Coeur d' Alene is at Union down in Oregon and Moscow is playing Lewiston. Noah Buckman here at the halftime show at the moment as the Mead Band is still out there.

14 Nothing to score on top of Central Valley. Noah, the big takeaway I briefly want to talk about before we come back for our second half predictions in the next segment. Not only is JG Lehman, the Mead quarterback, back from his injury, yes, he's healthy, but he's playing out there like he was never hurt. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, he's.

He's come back with. With a. With vengeance. And he's wanted to be back ever since that Ridgeline game. He wanted to be there for G Prep.

Just the time. Wasn't. Timing wasn't right. Gave him that extra week and boy, he's looked better than ever. Well, this looks like a me too.

That could really go out and win a couple more GSL games with him at quarterback now, right? Yeah, 100%. Because Mead's in that do or die stage now where they can't afford to take another loss. Well, that's exactly true. So that's the part about the gsl, right, is traditionally you really can't afford to lose more than one.

Or certain. You really can't afford to lose two. You really shouldn't be losing more than one. If you want to make a playoff push because traditionally, right, it's the four big schools. It's Mead, it's Mount Spokane, it's Central Valley and it's Gonzaga Prep.

But what's interesting, Gonzaga Prep, you'd think right now probably looks better than anyone else, but Mount Spokane is a little bit down this year. Mead has been a little bit down. Central Valley certainly down. This does not look like the same old CV team. You know, based on this game that we're seeing tonight where Mead leads Central Valley 14 nothing at halftime.

It feels to me like like any team could do well this year and make the playoffs at this rate. Yeah, the GSL has been all sorts of crazy this year with surprise teams like Ridgeline coming in causing chaos. Rogers has come in on the two way side caused chaos. Shadl Parks come in. This has been a wild fall for the GSL with the tides really turning in different favor in different ways.

Yeah, it certainly has the Mead band and color guard still out there. Sounds like Pocahontas. I can't tell that's Pocahontas, but it sounds like Pocahontas. Anyway, they're doing their big halftime performance and dance routine here for homecoming as they lead Central Valley 14 nothing. I'm Greg Talbot here, joined by Noah Buchman getting ready for the second half of this one. Mead scored two early touchdowns, Noah and since then it was a pretty much dead heat. Both of these quarterbacks had a couple fumbles on their teams. Both of them threw at least one interception and it's been a pretty much, you know, deadlock dead heat since the end of the first quarter. What do we think the second half is going to look like at this game?

Because I'm not even sure I can venture a guess. I'm not sure I can venture a guess either because this has been an up and down first half. It started really well for Meade, not so not too good for cv but then they both came back and then CV really came back in that second quarter and really started to force Meade into some tougher situations with third and long and I don't know, it's going to be a, it's going to be an interesting second half to see who would, who ends up having the final push in this game.

It really felt to me like Central Valley figured something out early in the second quarter when they realized that if they gave JJ Lehman unlimited time and unlimited space, he might either run or pick you apart. When they started rushing five, maybe even started rushing six and getting to Lehman, we saw a couple of sacks. They timed it well sometimes when, when Mead was running the ball and tackled them for losses. The Central Valley pressure, when they figured that out, that actually started to work pretty well. Yeah.

Yeah. Once CV started to send more through the line to the line, they really started to put the pressure on J. J. lehman, putting him in that, in that pressure, in those pressure spots that most quarterbacks get at this, at this point in the season. But it's been, they've adjusted well in that second quarter and they also eliminated the jet sweep pretty well.

Yeah. So if you're the Central Valley Bears, are you going to come back out with five or six off the blitz every time? I would 100% do that. Just keep putting more pressure on on JJ Lehman and really try and keep him uncomfortable right now. Yeah, I would say that would be a key, especially on defense for Central Valley.

If you're Mead, what I would say you got to worry about is make sure no one gets behind you on defense because this should be a 14 to 14 game. Central Valley dropped a couple would be touchdowns. Yeah, Mead's really got to focus on keeping that defense tight to their marks, especially with those corners because Lanphear has gotten out in space and dropped a couple of really well thrown passes by rising at Reisenhour.

But yeah, it very well should be 1414 right now. Yeah, Chase Pluitt has been making some good plays in the Mead secondary. Max Workman has always been in the neighborhood. Mead on top of the Central Valley. Mead scored on their first two drives and then a bunch of turnovers. Noah Buckman, a bunch of punts. Second half, who knows what's in store after the extended halftime show. It's 8:30 here in Spokane.

Usually we're done with games by I don't know, 9, 10, 9:15. It's been a slow game so one of these teams is about to grind out a win but it might not be pretty. Yeah, it's gonna. Whoever wins this game is gonna earn a hard fought win and it's going to be a good look to whoever is on the whoever's going to win this game as they'll definitely show that they can win those hard fought games in the GSL knowing that how good the GSL is this year.

Yeah, someone is certainly going to grind out a win and more importantly tonight one of these teams is going to earn it. Either Mead shows that they have earned it with their quarterback back but if Central Valley wins this game, talk about an earned win because this will be a 14 point second half comeback if they do it. Yeah, it's, it's going to be a tough second half but it's going to be a fun second half. We're in for a treat. All right, so Mead is sending their team back out there on the left side of the field.

All right, so two deep back to receive for me on the left side of the field. Cam Mattingly and Jimmy Fromm with the stunning 5 foot 6 speedy halfback who has made some huge runs tonight. Noah Buchman. Yeah, unfortunate there for me, but great return. And they're in some. They've got great field position now to open their first drive of the second half. All right, so good field position for the Mead Panthers.

They take over at their own 39 yard line. They won't give him the 40, they give him the 39. But out comes the 6 foot 2, 190 pound junior quarterback, J. J. lehman.

He got hurt two weeks ago in the game against Ridgeline. They lost, they lost last week to Gonzaga Prep. Didn't think he'd be back tonight, but he is to take over for the sophomore Landon Thomas who did an okay job filling in, but they're happy to have their real quarterback back. Here comes the first down play from the 39. Play action throws to the near side.

It's tipped away by the Central Valley defensive line. Second down and 10. Yeah, great pressure there by Joseph, by Joseph Deemers to really put the pressure on on Lehman out of the gates here in the second half. All right, so second down and 10 for Meadow elsewhere in terms of good players in the first half. Keegan Mallon had a touchdown.

Jimmy Fromm was so impressive. Yeah, he was really impressive with. Especially with those jet sweeps to the outside. He really found another gear and turned it up field all right for some good positive plays. Second down and 10 for me from their own 39 on the left side of the field.

One deep safety back for Central Valley. Here's the snap. Play action, Lehman throws, rolls right and it's off the hands of Matt McShane. Threw it high. He's been throwing high tonight.

Out of bounds. Third down and 10 for me to 15 seconds here into the third quarter. I'm wondering if part of the problem here for, for JJ Lehman is just with how tall the Central Valley defensive line is trying to get it up and over their hands and trying to get it to his receivers on the outside.

He's been doing his best. You know, Matt McShane didn't get a lot of play early in the year. He's been a kind of later guy coming onto the team in terms of getting minutes and opportunities here, but they've targeted him a couple times tonight. Yeah, they're doing a good job of getting their, some of their younger players experience in this game. Third down and 10, they go to the ground.

It's the speedy running back, Jimmy From. He gets to the 45, taken down by the knees. That's a gain of five yards or six. It'll be fourth down and you'd think this would be a punting situation for me, but their offense is staying out there and now they send a kick team on. They will punt.

Good for Central Valley. They're down two touchdowns, a Mead and they force a Panther three and out on the first drive of the half. Yeah, great job by Central Valley to force the three and out and really set the tone for the second half. Esme did a good job there. Of Esme lost the football there at the end of the last play, but good job getting it back.

All right, Jillian punts this one away. All the way left to right across your radio dial. Skip at the 30, the 25, the 20 rolls inside the 15. Mead is going to touch this one down at the Central Valley 11 or 12 yard line with 1055 to go in the third quarter. So we said at the top of the second half, Noah, that Central Valley needed a stop on Mead's first drive.

And they get it. Yeah, they've got, they've got to use that as a, as fuel and really drive down and try and see if they can get on the board here to start the second half. Long field though. All right, we'll see if they can. 11 or 12 yard line.

And here comes the Central Valley offense. They pass for almost a thousand yards in the first four games of this year. But tonight, incomplete passes, couple of dropped touchdowns, couple interceptions. Bo Reisenhour will try to get it going in the second half. First play, the second half for them.

Handoff up the middle. It's the senior running back, Danner smith across the 15 towards the 1617 gain of about 5. Yeah, good positive run there on first down eating up half the yards that they need for another first down. But great job. There are not a bad idea for Central Valley to go to the ground first because the passing there's so many incompletions in the first 24 minutes.

Yeah, their, their passing in the first half was hit or miss and very inconsistent. Second down and five, another delayed handoff. They'll give up the minute of Daniel Danner Smith past the 22 to 22. He's going to be really close to the chains. We'll see what the referees say.

They come up slowly and they gave him the Damon Orthodontics. First down as he gets to the 23 yard line. Yeah, good run there and a good job there. Moving the chains here on first there on second down. All right, so Central Valley moving three receivers split to the near side for Bo Riesenhauer this six foot senior right handed quarterback.

The Mount Spokane transfer, he's got Danner Smith set to his side. Hands off to Smith on the inside zone read. He's got a gain of about four yards. He'll be second down and manageable. Yeah, CVs doing a good job there on first down of making it second and manageable.

Trying to eat away the yards that they need here. Just trying to chip away slowly but surely at the speed deficit at this 14 point definition. Mead running or rather clock running. Sorry. Central Valley ball 9:30 to go here in the third quarter.

Mead leads by 14 but Central Valley is moving on offense around their own 25. Slow snap. Eisenhower drops back, looks left, looks right. Pressure coming. That ball is dropped.

Mead thinks it was a fumble. It was not. Seavee fell on the incomplete drop. It'll be third down and six. Yeah, great job there.

Me to get through and really disrupt the timing in the passive rise. An hour to force third down and somewhat long but they're down. Manageable. Yeah. You know what's so impressive about this though is rising hours.

Great. Mead's getting a little pressure but the Mead secondary has been nearly unstoppable tonight. Fast nap to rise an hour. Throws off to the right side. Just threw behind his receiver.

Camden Lanphear is one of the best receivers in the gsl. They have not even gotten completed a pass to him tonight. Threw it five yards behind him. It'll be fourth and six and now Central Valley will punt. And I think the part with that one too is Lanphear wasn't even looking at the ball.

He was Running downfield and thinking he was gonna have a shot down the sideline, but threw it behind him. But he wasn't even looking at the ball. He was crossing over the middle on a slant route, thought he'd catch it over the middle three yards behind him. So now Central Valley's punter back on their own a 10 yard line. This is Bo Butner, he's gonna punt this one away.

Right to left, across midfield, rolling down to the 40 on the left side of the field, bouncing down to about the 35. And that's where Mead will take over. So both teams have a decent little drive I guess in the first beginning here of the third quarter. But Noah Buckman once again just a stalemate on offense. Yeah, offenses are struggling to find their momentum here since this middle of the second of the first quarter, but defenses are really starting to step it up and make it, make some clutch plays on defense.

All right, so out comes the meat offense, J. J. lehman. What's so funny, Noah, is that coming into this year of the two quarterbacks they had, people thought J. J.

was the more run oriented quarterback. But just based on the playing time he got in the last couple of games, he looks really comfortable in the pocket. Yeah, he looks, he looks really confident as a flagstone on the before the snap here. Yeah, flag down on the play. That'll be on the offense.

Should be at least 5 yards delay a game on the offense. Yeah, JJ's looked really comfortable in the pocket this year and especially with that early roadblock with Riker Herd going out for the year. All right, first down and 15 for Mead from their own 30 yard line. Dump off to the near side. It's Max Workman.

He catches it in traffic across the 35, 36, 37, shoestring tackle. He did a lot of work for a gain of what, four yards? He did a good job for a gain of nine off the first and 15. Yes. All right, I misread the chains.

You're right. Gain and nine, it'll now be six more to go for the first. Second down and manageable. Yeah, I was going to say, man, that was very impressive work he was able to do. All right, second down and six four receiver.

Look here for Lehman. He throws to the far side. That one is hauled in, gain of a couple on the play. It was Workman who made the catch. He makes it up to the 44, he'll be one yard shy of the name of an orthodontics first down.

Yeah, great job there of stopping the forward progress before Workman could get to the. To the line again as it'll be third down and one coming up for the Panthers. All right, so the question is, do you give to Mallon? Do you give to from. Do you let Lehman run it or.

Or do you pass? One of the good news is one of the things the good news about Meade having Lehman back is, I mean, say this about me. They're balanced. Yeah, they're balanced on both sides. The of the ball he.

Lehman can throw. They've got good running backs and. And Lehman can run it really well. Bunch formation for me. This is Braden Harvey, the tight end and linebacker.

Direct snap to him, he gets to the 45. I'm not sure he got that first down. I'm not even sure. They got one yard of gain on that wildcat run by the linebacker. Tight end.

Yeah. Looked like he was about a third of a yard short. He didn't get it. They're gonna put Lehman back out there for fourth down in a yard. That's a bummer for me.

They lead 14 nothing, but are they really gonna go for it on fourth down from the 49? Looks like it. They are sending JJ Lehman out. Either that or they're gonna let the clock run down and take the penalty. Oh, J.

J. lehman lines out. Lines in the wide outright. They'll run the wildcat with Harvey again. Direct snap to him.

He gets across the 50 and now he's got it. Gain of 5 yards on the direct snap to the tight end linebacker. He's got him in demon orthodontics. First down. Yeah.

Great job there by Braden Harvey to really power through that. To really power through on that run and get the first down. Much needed for me. All right, clock now running 655, 654 to go here in the third quarter. Meet on offense.

They lead 14 nothing, but they have not scored since the first quarter. We're now starting the third three wide receiver. Look for Lehman and Mead handoff up the middle. It's from. He beats a tackle past the 45, tripped up by one leg.

And down he goes at the 40. That's a name in orthodontics. First down and well into Central Valley territory. If that guy hadn't gotten him by the ankle, he was gone. Yeah, 100%.

Yeah. Had Central Valley not have grabbed grabbed the ankle, he would have been gone to the house untouched. Me down to the Central Valley 40 yard line and here come the Panthers back they go to from again. It's an inside zone. Look, they swing it around to the right.

He Gets what to the 39, 38 gain a two. Yeah, good defense there to stop from again because From's explosive. So interesting about me. Most of this year it's been Keegan Allen. Keegan Allen, Keegan Allen, then Jimmy Fromm.

Jimmy Fromm is the featured back tonight, not Keegan Mallon. Yeah, yeah, they've really been able to stop Keegan Mallon, but Jimmy Frommes had almost no answer. Three wide receiver, look. And once again it's from in the backfield with Lehman. Second down and eight.

One tight end look for Mead. Snap back. Here comes Lehman, throws far right side, caught by McShane. And he's hit immediately with a shoulder for a gain of what, I don't know, one yard, two yards. In fact.

That was Braden Powers who made the catch. But either way he was knocked down immediately. It'll be third down and seven after a gain of man, maybe one yard. Yeah, great job there by Daniel Iams to get to that ball and. And lower the shoulder hard and stop forward progress because if he hits the sideline, he's going for the first down.

All right, third down and seven. Three wide receiver to the right. Look for the Mead Panthers. One deep safety back for central alley on defense. Third and seven.

Lehman swings it out the left side. He's got Jimmy from the halfback, has the catch on his feet. 35 yard line, scrambles around, gets to the 30, pushed out of bounds. He's got a name in orthodontics. First down and the Mead panthers keep driving.

5, 10 to go here in the third quarter. They lead by 14, but they're moving. Yeah, great job there by JJ Lehman to get it out to from and make and from. Make something happen. Got some great blocks on that sideline from his wide receivers to pick up that first.

First down. The Panthers are moving. 502, 501. Five minutes to go in the third quarter. Lehman takes a look at the CV defense there on the left hash mark.

He points his right finger out, telling one of the Mead receivers to pay attention to this. He might have an audible. Here comes the snap to the left. Looks right, looks right pocket collapsing. He looks downfield.

He'll run 30, 25, 20. Down to the 15 yard line. Scampers out of bounds. The quarterback with an a minorthodontic first down. A late flag comes in from the secondary.

That might be a late hit. Out of bounds on the quarterback. Yeah, might be. They came in hard and really lowered the shoulder and drove Lehman out of bounds. But great job there by the Offensive line to give Lehman enough space on that right side to make something happen.

Good run there by Lehman. That's on me. I did not see that coming. Noah Buckman. Yeah, I didn't see that coming either.

Yeah, unsure of what happened, but that'll back me up to first and 12. That'll go as a hold on me though. All right, so meat in a big play there. It's called back. They now take over on the new first down.

The name of Orthodontics. First down they're going to say What? At the 28 yard line of Central Valley. So good field position for me. Do we have a timeout on the field?

I don't know why Mead would have just called a timeout. Or is this a referee timeout? No, Coach Stamp is. Coach Stamps is talking to the referee here, probably asking for an explanation about the last play and maybe the penalty that went with it. And Coach Stamps does not look very happy.

Still waiting. The referees don't seem to actually call the timeout. I guess they were just explaining things to the coaches on both side of the field. Both teams are out there. It's supposed to be first and 10 for me from the Central Valley 28 yard line.

Referees will move their arms. They run it in a circle. Okay, the clock will start again, 426 to go here in the third quarter. Mead leads by 14 and now they'll keep their drive going. Handoff up the middle of Jimmy from Shakes 1, Shakes 2 inside the 20, taken down, another shoestring tackle and another Damon.

Orthodontics first down and they are into the Central Valley red zone. Yeah, great, great run there by James Me from finding that hole and really running hard. And had they not have grabbed him by the shoelaces, he might have gotten at least another 5 or 10 yards out of the play as Meads now in the red zone. Here's the thing though. Both teams have been in the red zone tonight and both teams have absolutely blown it.

Both teams have had kicks blocked. They've not made it on going forward on fourth down. So we'll see here on the new first down for Meadow from the Central Valley 19. Here's Lehman on the handoff. Gives to from, stays on his feet, gets vertical down to the 16, gain of three or four yards.

Yeah, good job there by from to get up field and make it second and manageable. Are you surprised how much they're leading on from here instead of Keegan Mallon? I am a little bit surprised, but they've had an answer for Keegan Mallon, but they haven't had much of an answer for Jimmy Fromm. So part of me is surprised that they've gone with Jimmy Fromm as much as they have. And I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen much of Keegan Mallon in the second half.

Give McGain a four. Second down and six for me now down to the Central Valley 15 yard line. A lot of defensive backs on the field for cv. Here comes the snap. Lehman rolls left, lot of pressure.

He stays on his feet. Beats two defenders, he stays on his feet. He's down to the five yard line. He almost got chased down three or four times. Instead he's inside the five for Damon Orthodontics.

First down and Meade is knocking on the door again with three minutes here in the third quarter. The order lead by two touchdowns and now they're about to go for three and they've. And that was a great job there by JJ Lehman to get up field and find the sideline and really showcase his speed there of eluding the tackle for loss. Clock will run 250, 249, 248 to go here in the third quarter. Mead leads by two touchdowns.

Lehman brings him out from the central alley. Four yard line. First down and goal. Lehman puts a man in motion. It's Max Workman handoff up the middle.

Jimmy Fromm dives in. Touchdown. A three touchdown lead for the Meade Panthers. 20 nothing over Central Valley. Yeah, great run there by Jimmy Fromm to get inside and power it into the in for the Panther touchdown.

Well, me needed that first touchdown since late in the first quarter. Yeah, me definitely needed that. Get the momentum flowing back in there. Keep the momentum flowing in their favor. They've had some great defensive drives and they've really played well here tonight.

Boy. Kidding. No kidding. Here comes the snap to make it 21 nothing. It's a bad one.

Yeah, 100% because they're running out of time and they're running out of opportunities. Me's just going to slowly start to wind down the clock. But they're lucky there on that on the kickoff not to end up with a horse collar tackle and put CV deep in me or into me territory. All right. Meisenhauer comes out out of the shotgun, turns and pitches to Danner Smith.

He turns up field on the right side, gets a gain of 5 yards, chased out of bounds. Central Valley, one of the best passing teams so far this year in the Greater Spokane League tonight. Nothing. Yeah, means played phenomenal on the in the secondary and really disrupted the strength of CV in that passing game. All right.

Gain is six on the play. Second down and four for Central Valley. Two receivers split to the right, one to the left here for Eisenhower in cv. They put Smith in motion, put him out to the left. He looks left, looks right.

Reisenhour steps up, he's gonna run 45 yard line, slides down, gain of three. It'll be third down and two for the Bears. Yeah, clutch. This is a big huge, this is a huge third down here for cv. They have to convert here and find a way to make get some points on the board.

Well here's the thing, they're almost out of time already. If you punt this one away, time is just gonna be almost impossible for you to get this game back. Yeah, because Mead's just gonna keep it on the ground with JJ Fromman, keep it with Jimmy from and keep it moving on the ground and eat that clock. Third down and two for Central Valley from their own 45 yard line. Meade sends two linebackers on the blitz.

Pass over the middle. It's caught by Lanphear. He's across midfield. Finally got there. He's down to the Mead 35 yard line for a big Damon orthodontic first down.

That's like the fourth time they've tried that slant pass over the middle to Camden Lanphear and they finally get it to work. Yeah, and what a time for it too as they desperately needed that third down conversion to move the chains to halfbacks in the backfield with risen hour from their me to 40 yard line. Here's the handoff up the middle. It's Bo Butner gain of, I don't know, three yards before he's spun back. Clock down inside 90 seconds to go in the third.

Great coverage there by Meade getting through that offensive line and stopping and stopping Danner Smith. They gained one on the play, so second and nine. I thought that would be a more generous spot. They did not give it to him. Okay, second down and nine.

This is 700 ESPN 105. 3 FM. All right, 12 minutes to go. In this Greater Spokane League high school football game, two of the big name teams, Mead and Central Valley. As we start the fourth quarter, Meade 21, Central Valley nothing.

But all of a sudden here, after an entire three quarters of doing pretty much nothing on offense, Noah Buckman, Central Valley now getting close, watching now. They're inside the Mead red zone. They're at the Panther 18 yard line. They're down three touchdowns, but there's just enough time that they could do this. Yeah, Central Valley starting to look like they've resurrected and started to find their and started to find their momentum through the air, which has been almost non existent through three quarters.

All right, here we go to start the fourth quarter. Bo Reisenauer and Central Valley back out there for the new second and nine. Looks left, looks right pocket collapsing. Throws into double coverage in the corner. He was looking for Danner Smith.

His receivers cannot get open. Third down and nine for Central Valley. They need a touchdown here, Noah Buckman. Yes, they do. They've got to find a way to start converting six.

All right, so Mead doesn't have this one in the bag quite yet. I guess they could always fumble it away or throw a pick, but at this point it's feeling pretty close. They lead by three touchdowns.

Handoff up the middle. Jimmy from on first down gets to the 30, a gain of 12 and at a orthodontics. First down to start the drive. Yeah, great run there by Jimmy From. Is he almost as he almost bulldozed right through that, through that line.

They'll say he got to the 40. It'll be third down and two now for the Panthers. Center Valley only has one deep safety back now. They'll drop a second. Lehman takes a look at the defense.

Because traditionally with homecoming you book a team that you're pretty confident you're going to pick up a win against like usually last couple of years if you're me to you book Homecoming you're like A.

D. no offense but like Ferris, Lewis and Clark, something like that where you know you're the better team. Here comes a high snap. It's bobbled. Lehman falls on it.

It'll be third down but boy, I was surprised to see they chose Central Valley for their homecoming game. But now closing in on a win here with a three touchdown lead. Turns out I was the silly one to question it. Well this was CV last year because Mead went to CV for CV's homecoming last year and we weren't really sure what Meade was going to do and they ended up pulling off a huge upset at CV last year to really kind of stun, stun the GSL and show that we were going to be a four to be reckoned with last year ended up with a really great season making it to the first round of state.

All right, third down and 13 for me to after Lehman bobbled that snap, takes a look to the near sideline to hear from his coach. Here it comes. Hand off to from off tackle. Goes right 45 yard line of the 40, stays on his feet, shoved out of bounds very close to the Damon Orthodontics first down. He got to the 37 or 38.

He needed to get to the CV35. So that will stop the. Wow. Actually the clock's gonna keep running at 5, 45, 39, 538. It'll be fourth down and three for me to this territory.

I guess there's no point in bringing on a team to punt 40. I guess this is the kind of field position just shy of the 40 where go for it or punt it kind of who cares, right? Yeah. I think it's safe to say that Mead's gonna win now because we're down to almost five minutes to go and CVs got CV would have to go for Hail Mary's on every play to have any shot of. Of getting.

Oh man. And on 4th down Central Valley had a guy jump on the defensive line and that's going to give me to free first down. A free Damon orthodontics first down and yeah, that, that actually that might have been not. Not that, not the CV had that much chance left. But you know, if chances were between slim and none, I think we just saw Slim leave the building.

All right, so Mead stays back out there, five minutes to go in this one. A21 nothing lead and they're trying to drive down the field and punch it in maybe one more time just for posterity. And here's Layman surveys. The defense turns and hands off. Again it's from and he's taken down for no gain on the play.

CV defense was ready and they brought a couple of edge rushers as well. Yeah, great pressure there off the edge by CV to stop Jimmy from dead in his tracks and really make it so Jimmy from had nowhere to go. Pretty rare tonight to see Jimmy from have nowhere to go, wouldn't you say? Yes. Yeah, he's been getting the edge.

He's been finding that hole and exploding through it. Yeah, I would say so. All right, 4:20 to go in this one and the clock running. Lehman takes a look at the defense. Second and 10.

He likes to take a look at the defense. He never snaps it right away. He likes to read his coverage, give up the middle. It's From. It looked like he was about to turn that into a gain of 10, but one of the defensive linemen reaches out with his left arm and drags him down with pure strength.

It'll be third down and eight. Yeah, great job there on the line to stop Jimmy from. How do you have gotten through that? Would have been a huge play there. Most likely would have allowed me to run out the clock, I believe.

This has been a nearly eight minute drive for Meat at this point. Clock is running 3, 40 to go and still running in this game. This is a nearly eight minute drive for the Mead Panthers to put this one away. Holy cow, who saw that one coming? Yeah, this has been impressive.

Maybe fourth down and 11. Yeah, great defensive coverage there on the jet sweep as they've had an answer for it here in the second half or really since middle of second quarter. All right, so what's me gonna do? I guess they're gonna stay out there on 4th and 12. Well, there's layman does punt, but they're gonna come out and run the offense here.

I believe that was about an eight minute drive for me to put this one away. Amazing. Yeah, that was. That was impressive. You don't see that much in high school football, especially the gsl.

No, you do not. And here comes Central Valley back out on offense. This must. I mean, I haven't seen the rest of the final scores in the Greater Spokane League, but you've got to chalk this one up, Noah, as probably the most underwhelming performance and the Greater Spokane League tonight.

Here comes a snap to Risen Hour. He drops back play action. He'll throw to the near side. He's got Danner Smith makes a catch, he's got some space. 45 yard line, 50 across the 50, taken down at the last second.

That would have been an even bigger gain instead of it's about 15 yards and at. Amen. Orthodontics. First down for Central Valley. But they're down three touchdowns, three minutes left.

This thing is pretty much done. Yeah, great job there by Danner. Smith to turn and cut back across the field as there was nobody on that on the far side of the field for me. New first down and 10 for CV up the middle. It's Bo Butner taken down by the defensive line after a gain of, I don't know, two or three yards.

Yeah, but truly no, just a, an underwhelming performance by the Central Valley offense. I did not see me pitching a shutout tonight. Yeah, I didn't see it. I didn't see him pitching it a shutout either. I thought it was going to be a close one.

Maybe a, a one score game, maybe. Honestly, I thought Central Valley would win coming into this one. I thought they would have to not knowing if, if JJ was going to be back in time. Throw to the far side, caught by Kate and Adams. Shoved out of bounds for a gain of five.

It'll be third down and two. Maybe third down and three for Central Valley. Clock stops and now they'll run it at 215 to go in the game. Central Valley, they lost to Ridgeline. They beat Lewis and Clark and Cheney.

They lost last week to Moses Lake and it looks like now they're going to lose to Mead by three touchdowns. Reisenhour takes a snap, rolls to the right, running out of space, throws down the sideline. It's hauled in by Kamane Davis. Or was it out of bounds? He caught it out of bounds.

Incomplete. Fourth down and three. Unlucky turn of events there for cv. They had a. That was a great effort there by Brandon by Branson.

Olson just couldn't keep his feet inbound as the throw just pushed him out. Well, the Mead students and the, the cheerleaders getting ready to rush the field now as they run down to the gates. What a happy team that this is going to be. It'll be a 21 nothing final score unless CV punches something in here at the very end of the game. They're now down to the Mead 45 yard line.

Reisenhower takes the snap, throws far side. It's intercepted. You gotta be kidding me. Here comes Mead across midfield. They're gonna take it all the way back.

A pick six and it's Garrett Miller, the sophomore linebacker. A 55 yard pick six. Yeah, just a poorly thrown ball and they just read it perfectly and caught it short and ran it all the way to the house and sidestepped Eisenhower and went untouched. To the house for the pick six. As Mead goes up four scores.

Well that'll be a poetic ending to this game I would say Noah Buckman. It's going to be in all likelihood a four score game now as Mead stands out the pat it is up right foot. It's good. 28 nothing Mead. What a game.

They already beat Mead and they already beat Central Valley. They can knock off G Prep. Ridgeline is like the school to beat. The only team that's left for them is Mount Spokane. Unbelievable.

I would say the school deserves this one because I know that Central Valley is having a down year but that is a real stamp on your resume to beat the CV by four touchdowns.

I think it will be 2. Unless somehow Shadle can play, pull out that win down at the new stadium against Rogers. Or. Or if Ridgeline somehow comes back and beats Prep. They're only down a touchdown.

But I mean, 28 nothing. That's the one. Rogers leading shadow 22 seven. Good for Rogers. Good for Rogers, indeed.

They're playing a heck of a season. Mead comes out, they take one last knee and that'll do it. The Mead Panthers to kick off their homecoming weekend. You can hear the students and the cheerleaders chanting down on the field. They will rush the field.

Mead 28, Central Valley nothing. That's your final score. And the Mead Panthers bounce back after a couple of losses. Yeah, great job. Great job rebounding there for me.
