Paul, so nice to have you guys excited to do tonight's game. A couple of option football teams should be fun. Well, first of all, tell us a little bit about what fall sports have been like here at G Prep and at this time in history. Well, thanks, Greg. It's great to have you guys here tonight.

It's great to be out here. Fall sports have been really fantastic for us. You, you know, coming out of last year where life was so unpredictable for our kids, this is, this back in school every day is exactly what these kids need. And our fall sports have just been a real catalyst for our kids to get involved. You know, we were talking before the show started about how many kids we have out for our sports.

I mean, we talk volleyball, and we had 80 kids turn out for volleyball this year, 80 girls. And so we have six volleyball teams, three soccer teams. Our cross country and football numbers are as high as they've ever been. So really what that tells us, I think, is kids were looking for an outlet, something to do and something that resembles normalcy. I was gonna say, it seems like after the year, year and a half, these kids have had being back in the classroom and getting to have some camaraderie, join a team.

It's probably good for the spirit here at G Prep, right? It is. It's great for the spirit. You know, kids, they give lost just feeling a part of something. And I think the high numbers are our kids just want to be a part of something and they're out there doing their thing like they should be.

So it really has been a fun, exciting fall. Things have been, you know, still we're in the, we're, we're on the back end of this pandemic, but things have been as normal as they can be. I mean, kids are in school every day. We've had very, very little Covid interruption, really within the league. We've had a little bit, but very little when you look at the big picture.

So our kids are out there doing their thing on, you know, every day of the week. So it's been great here with Gonzaga Preps athletic director Paul Manford as we get ready to bring you G Prep, Lewis and Clark tonight on your radio dial. Paul, anything else coming up at the school this fall you'd like to promote here at G Prep? We are back with Greater Spokane League Game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM alongside Paul Sorensen with Steve Pry back in our network studios. My name is Greg Talbot. So happy to have you with us tonight as we bring you LCG Prep at the top of the hour. Here's what we are looking at tonight.

It is a matchup of two option football teams who have been playing each other for decades here in Spokane, the Bullpups and the Tigers LC coming in tonight. They are severe underdogs is how we would say it. They are 2 and 4 on the season. They're still young as a program and still trying to make this new triple option team that they have incorporated this year work for them. This is the third strike week we have seen them on their radio.

We broadcast their game two weeks ago against Mount Spokane. We saw them last week against U High. Basically the thing to know about them is that they're still figuring out the triple option. The quarterback, Charles Northern, is pretty good. Gents Hilburn, number one, is the man to watch, far and away the most dynamic player on their team.

As for Gonzaga Prep, man, it's almost a little anticlimactic with their win over Central Valley last week, they essentially locked in the GSL title yet again. As of tonight, they're ranked number three in the statewide rankings in 4A in terms of the football team. Man, you know how it is. For decades now it's the triple option. And this year everything runs through their quarterback, Ryan McKenna.

Paul, let's bring in briefly here before we go to break. What are you looking for tonight? Well, last week the pups had three turnovers and sacks. So they did it defensively. And and that's one thing that Gonzaga Prep, you know, they always talk about the triple option.

The Veer McKenna's probably in the mode for player of the year in the state of Washington at the foray level. He's been outstanding at 160 yards. Last week, two long runs, as you know, 43 and 45 yards. And if you creep up, then to stop the run, they run a little play action and run somebody right down the seam who's usually wide open. But I like what the defense does.

They blitz, they blitz, they decide. They come from all different directions. They have a couple of defensive linemen. They're getting recruited heavily at the Big sky level. They're an outstanding football team.

And Lewis and Clark, I like what Joe Ireland, the head coach, is doing. They're trying to rebuild the Tigers a little bit and they're and they're doing that. They're getting back to LC football, which is run, run, run, set up the play action, pass play, very good special teams and be tough on defense. It is a beautiful fall evening as night has fallen out here at G Prep. We'll take a break with our broadcast.

North side, south side, and now the Valley. So how cool is that? That's very cool, Paul Sorensen. So we are getting ready to bring you Lewis and Clark against G Prep at the top of the hour here on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM.

So this is our game of the week, but let's get take a look at what else is happening across the GSL tonight. We have some kind of fun games starting off at East Valley tonight as Rogers plays East Valley Ridgeline at West Valley. But we have a couple other really good ones. Really? Number one with the Bullet tonight is the Battle of the Bell.

They rescheduled it, thankfully. Mount Spokane against Mead. What a great one that's going to be. Well, I like Keith Stamp, the Mead head coach. He came in from Deer park, really built that program up, and he's rebuilding Mead as well.

Quarterback Colby Danielson has been effective. You know, he's had to throw a little bit more than he has in the past, and he's a very good athlete. You'll see that program continue to rise. Mount Spokane is one of the best programs in the GSL right now. The other big game tonight in the gsl, U Hay Ferris.

We saw U High last week. I think that the Titans are probably the favorites in that game, but that should be a pretty good one elsewhere. Tomorrow afternoon, Pullman at Shadow Park. Well, at Union Stadium. They're playing Shadow park at Union Stadium.

Meanwhile, though, top of the hour, like we said, LCG Prep. Paul, what are your keys to the game for this one? Well, prep's pretty simple. Run, run and run again. And just let the ball go through the hands of Ryan McKinnon.

He's outstanding and could play college football as either a defensive back or a quarterback. He may end up being a college hockey player. He's that good an athlete. Also, the thing about that, the triple option, you get the safeties and the linebackers creeping up because they're so effective on the run. Guess what?

Then they slip a tight end or an inside receiver down the seam and he's usually wide open. That's an easy throw for McKenna. So that's what LC has to work against, not get beat on the big play make Gonzaga Prep. Teams that have had success in the past against Gonzaga Prep have been able to stop the A gap dive, which is basically have a really good nose guard and your two inside linebackers fill and funnel force everything to the outside so then then you attack the quarterback, make him pitch the ball and then rally to the running back.

So that's not an easy task. But if you can stop the A gap dive with that fullback, you got a chance. Well, coming up in the next segment of the pregame show, we're going to talk starting lineups. More importantly, we're going to talk key players. So if LC is to have a chance tonight, it's going to be relying on their defensive line.

Paul Sorensen, G Prep, Lewis and Clark coming your way at the top of the hour as we get back to you here on the pregame show, time for tonight's starting lineups between the Tigers and the Bullpups. Now weirdly again, because we do not have a real GSL stadium this year or next year, one of those weird nights, technically, Gonzaga Prep is the away team tonight at their own that work at their own home field.

So with that, let's go ahead and jump into the Bullpups starting lineup because the other way team will go first. Ryan McKenna is their starting quarterback, the senior. And you might be a casual football fan around here and say, hey, that name sounds familiar. Yes, Ryan is the son of head coach Dave McKenna, his third son to come through the G Prep football program in the 14 years he's been the head coach here. They have a three headed attack at running back.

Matteo, Sacramento, Nick Banky, same Oman. All three of those guys play very different roles at wideout. They've got Dylan o' Keefe and Bo Howell, two guys over six feet tall. They can really go up and get it. And then the offensive line is really, it's a bunch of juniors.

So they will be great next year as well. Mitchell Sawinski, Tim McCann, Patrick Riley, Drake Watko and Nick McCann. Paul, who stands out to you on that offense? Well, it's Ryan McKenna, McKinnon. Everything goes through him in terms of his ability to read on the triple option, handing the ball off, you know, through the E gap, keeping the ball around the outside or pitching it back to one of the backs or pulling it down.

A true rpo. Then being able to see the receiver release, getting downfield, making big plays. But everything goes to the qb. And this offensive line is really improved, you know, and that three headed running back combination has been outstanding. This is a very wicked offense.

Yeah, they are no joke. They've been putting up over 40 points most games this year. Here's the G Prep defense, Kevin McCiernand from Watkins 2 up front along with Luke Miller and then Kaz Meltzer, the pass rusher. We're going to be talking about him a lot tonight. Nine Division 1 offers.

Meltzer is the guy to watch at linebacker. Nate Boy Iam and Luciano Reynolds. And their DB is Gregory Flynn, Junas McCraw the second, Matthew Benson, Jinwoo Choi and Preston Yim Paul. What an unbelievable two on the four they have up front between Kaz Meltzer and Ephraim Watkins. And Ephraim Watkins great grandfather is Pappy Watkins.

If you've never heard the I have a Dream speech, Martin Luther King Day, he's the guy that gives a long time pastor here in Spokane. Really a great guy, has been involved in this community for many, many years. And both of those students that you mentioned, Watkins and Meltzer are both 4. 0 students. So they're going to have opportunities not only to go on and play physically but also academically.

And as I told my son, I said the head, don't be a Sorensen like your dad and use your head for a hat rack. Use it for an education so you can have 40 years, you know, as a career, not two or three. Yeah, both of those guys are certainly college football bound. Watkins is going to have more offers coming up here in the next couple of weeks, couple of months. Kaz Meltzer, man, he already has his choice.

Ivy League and the Big sky, they're all after him. Yeah. So it's very impressive. Let's tell you just quickly so you can know you're listening. For tonight, Kaz Meltzer on the D line for G Prep offered by Eastern Idaho, Idaho State, Montana State, Princeton, Columbia Brown, Fordham, Air Force, which is his dad's alma mater, and Lehigh.

There you go. And that means that dude's got some serious skills. No kidding. And academics. That Jeep rep, as we know.

Yes. All right, taking a look at the Lewis and Clark, weirdly, again, technically tonight, the home team. Here's a look at their offense on the line. Chase Richardson, Irwin Moreno, Miles Rea, Blake Mitchell and Mason Smith, couple of wide receivers who we like a lot. The last Couple of weeks.

The six foot three Tyler Jones and the five foot eight, Joey Farah. But he's small, but he's really got hands at running back. Two guys who we enjoy. Gents Hilburn, he's their best player. Max Meyer, number 21, he's a tall guy, but he can do it all.

Also returns kicks. Matt here, the 6 foot, 220 running back, he's a bowling ball. Also a great lead blocker in the offense. And Charles Northern, the quarterback. Paul, this is the third week in a row we've seen him.

We like him. The thing is, his lines just giving him. They're not giving them very much time. Well, they've had to go to the Wildcat, really, to Jen Silburn, you know, because he. Everything flows through him.

We talked about Gonzaga Prep with Ryan McKinnon being the key. He is the key for Lewis and Clark. And so they're trying to put the football in his hands as many ways they can. And this offensive line has, quite frankly, had a tough time blocking people, and that does not bode well for your offensive execution. If you want to drop back, throw the football, do some multiple kinds of things.

So get the ball in your best player's hands and do it as quickly as you can. And here's the defense for the Tigers. Peter Vermeer, Gabe Daniel, Braden hall on the line. The linebackers, they've got four. Stephen Cox, Matt here, one of the running backs, he's a phenomenal linebacker.

Kate Pierbin and Elijah Soder at outside linebacker. And the secondary. Gents Hilburn, Max Meyer, Tommy Mickelson, also one of their receivers. He's a very good corner. Had it picked two weeks ago against Mount Spokane.

The Arby's GSL Game of the Week is on your radio as we get ready to kick this off between Gonzaga Prep. Coming into this one. Just about wrapped up the GSL last weekend when they beat Central valley. They are 5 and O coming into this one. Lewis and Clark is going to receive the kick from G Prep 2 and 4 this season.

Wins against Ridgeline and Ferris. Losses against some pretty good teams, Eastmont U High, Mount Spokane and Central Valley. So G Prep in all white uniforms tonight with their classic navy accents, white pants, white jerseys, white helmets. To kick this one away is Matthew Herzog, big number 85. He's got a right foot kick and all the way back to receive on the left side of the field.

Down on the left side of the 50 in their black pants, black helmets and black jerseys with orange accents as Lewis and Clark, it's Gents Hilburn and Max Meyer, two of their best players. Here comes the kick. It is a low line drive down to the left side and Hilburn's gonna take this one up about the five yard line. Here it comes. G Prep is all over him.

He dropped the ball, he recovers it at the five on the near sideline and he's twisted down out of bounds just around the 10. A disaster to start the Tigers ball. And don't forget this kickoff is brought to you by Papa Murphy's change. The way you pizza and Hilburn really kind of a tough deal. They had a return going to his left.

They kicked the ball kind of to his right side. He had to run over in the corner, pick it up. Very fortunate he was able to pop on that fumble. Even though he got smoked on the on the return, they didn't turn the football over. That have been a disaster for the Tigers to kick this game off.

All right, so here come the Lewis and Clark Tigers taking over about their eight yard line to start this game on offense. Charles Northern is their quarterback. A right hander, six feet tall, 185 pounds, he's a junior. He's been running this new first year triple option offense pretty well. They put a man in motion.

It's Jens Tilburn first play. Here comes Northern. He falls forward and hands it off to Matt Hare. He stumbles along around the line of scrimmage, falls forward, maybe a gain of one. Nice job that time here.

And they're trying to kind of emulate the triple option like prep prep has been running it forever. Going all the way back to Bill Frazier in the late 60s 70s and then don Anderson who was on iconic hall of Fame coach and of course then Dave McKenna kind of came in and took it over. So this is something that preps used to. LC is just kind of getting this into their veins right now. But it's going to take a little bit of time but they're going to get better at it.

Other guys to watch for tonight on Lewis and Clark. Gents Hilburn, Joey Farish, Tyler Jones, Max Meyer and Matt Hare. Those are the skill position guys. Here they come on second down and nine after the gain of one from Hare, here comes the snap, turns and gives it right to Hare again. He gets right into the teeth of the defense.

Manages to fall forward and get two or three yards. That's pretty impressive. Paul, you don't think you'd go see him going right at Watkins and Melzer? Well, I think you have to do that to keep them honest because if you go wide right off the bat, they're going to just kind of spread out their, you know, their attack. They run a basically a three, two, five.

Let me See, that's five. No, three to six actually. It's like a three, three, you know, they, they roll on kind of a nickel up and things like that. So you've got to be able to make them honor the run between the tackles and then go outside and I think you'll see them try to pitch and go wide here on this play or throw it. We're about 90 seconds into this game.

Lewis and Clark on offense against g prep. It's third down and seven. They're down on their own 13 yard line. Here comes Charles Northern out of the gun, playing to his right by gents Hilburn, their best player on offense. Here comes the snap.

They'll run the option and pitch it to Hilburn along the side. Is it the 15 to 20. Gets past one of the corners. He's up to the 35 yard line for a huge gain as he had opened six. That's a huge Damon Orthodontics first down and the Tigers have life on their first drive.

Well, it's interesting too because Hilburn is the guy. He can house it from any spot on the field. But I like the fact they got the ball to hair to kind of keep everybody honest. And then what do they do when they come back and they need a big play? They go to number one.

He's their guy. Hilburn has had touchdowns the last two weeks on our games of the week. He is a phenomenal player. All right, here they come from their own 35 yard line on the left side of the field. Tyler Jones, their 6 foot 3 receiver, split to the near side on the bottom of the field.

Here comes the snap on first down and flags coming in. That's on the offense. Tyler Jones, a big tall guy. I think he got leaning and may have. There may have been snow in the atmosphere, caused him to kind of twist a little bit.

And they threw a flag on him because he did the little bubble and bounce out there. And that's hard to hide when you're that tall. I'll tell you what's kind of strange, Paul. Tyler Jones, like you said, 6 foot 3, 190 big catch radius receiver. They've only thrown to him once in the last two weeks.

The passing game for Lewis and Clark has not been strong because you don't have to time because they haven't been able to block and protect up front. That's why the option is effective because basically you can, you can pitch the ball, hand the ball off. It doesn't take a long time sustain their blocks up front to get, create some holes. All right, here they come after the penalty. First down in 15, same formation.

Matt Hare split to the left of the quarterback, Charles Northern. Here comes the snap. He fakes the hand off the hair, goes off tackle to the left, gets up to the 36 yard line, picks up five or six yards, gets back to where they were before the penalty. Call it second down and nine. Northern that time decided to go west.

He decided to take that ball and go straight up the field and picked up some nice positive yards. Even though they lost five on the on the motion penalty. There was a hole there off to the right side. So let's give LC's offensive front some kudos on this drive because they've been able to sustain some blocks and create some holes for this running attack. No score between LC and G Prep early in the first quarter.

LCN offense, they've got it up to their own 35 yard line after starting inside their own 10. Here they come on second down and nine. Hands high in the air for Charles Northern, the quarterback. They'll go right, they'll run the option. He pitches to Hilburn.

He's past the 40, the 45 to 50. He shakes off a man on his legs. He's down to the 40, the 30, before he's taken down out of bounds. A huge gain into G Prep territory near the red zone. A gigantic demon orthodontics.

First down and LC looks great on their opening drive. Now this has been an outstanding drive for them and I give them a lot of credit cards. Great blocking downfield again, you know, by the tall 6 foot 3 kid as he was able to hold the corner off a guard, pulled to the outside, sealed the safety on the inside. Broken tackle downfield, Hilbert and pick run. This is the best we have seen Lewis and Clark's triple option offense look all year and it's not even close.

Now they're on the right side of the 50, down to the G prep 29 yard line. Here it comes up the middle. Northern hands it off the hair, maybe a gain of one on the play. Should not have handed that one off because the reader was not there. Basically the line was getting pushed back.

Should have kept that gun around the outside. Had an option. Either keep it or pitch it to Hilburn. Now you're going tight side. I'd like to see them go wide side.

Use Hilburn speed in space. He has been very, very effective with two very long runs here on this drive. Feels like G Prep's defense is a little Bit caught. Caught with their pants down. Well, you know, sometimes you read your press clippings a little bit and Lewis and Clark, one thing about them, they have always matched up well against the bullpups, you know, traditionally.

And this is going to be another one of those games. Gain of 1 on the play. Second down and 9 from the 28. Here comes a snap. Northern runs the option, keeps it himself, gets between a blocker and the defense.

Up to the 35 yard line. Gain a three. Good job. That was a good read that time. That time the, the outside backer came up and took Hilburn out of the play.

So he saw that his read to pitch it back wasn't there and he just kept it. Got some positive yards. Very manageable here on third down. Would not surprise me if this two down territory for the Tigers. This is going to be a big third down and six from the G prep 34 yard line on the right, right side of the field.

You got to think they have to be king on Hilbert here. Paul. Already down to 725 in this quarter. 2. This drive has done two things.

They've gained ground, flipped the field and they're eating clock. Exactly what Lewis and Clark wants to do. Third down and six. Here comes Lewis and Clark in their black pants, black jerseys, black helmet. Northern comes out with his hands high under center.

Now he moves back to the gun. Here it comes. He turns and hands it off to Matt Hare. They did not go to Hilburn. The big running back gets up to about the 22 yard line.

He only got two or three yards on the play. This is fourth down. Yeah, and I think let's see if they come out and kick. I think they're going to kick. So they're going to try to get some points here.

And what a great drive. Great effort, you know by Lewis and Clark on this thing. Flipping the field. Been an outstanding drive and let's give kudos that offensive line has opened up some holes for those running backs. All right, so they are going to bring Wilson has the right footed kicker onto the field.

This is going to be a 337 yarder. Not a lot of kids in Spokane who can hit this kickball. I couldn't. I'd pull a hamstring even thinking about it. All right, here it comes.

Wilson. Hash. We have not seen him the last couple weeks. Here's the snap. It is a good one.

It's a low line drive kick. It has the distance. That one is up and it is off to the left. No good. We Will take a break.

Still no score here on the Arby's GSL Game of the Week on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. Imagine a fast food rib sandwich. No, no, stop. Not that one.

Lewis and Clark got all the way down to the Gonzaga Prep 21 yard line in their first drive. They brought out Wilson Hash to kick it missed off to the left. So we still have no score as G Prep opens up a drive. Coming out of the break, there was a five yard penalty against Lewis and Clark. So here come the bullpups here on first down and five.

Up the middle they go. Feed it to Matteo Sac Amano. He got about three yards out of it. Second down and three coming up. And you talked about Ryan McKinnon.

He's sporting a nice blonde dude, so you can tell he's definitely doing some hockey stuff. Might be postseason getting ready to start it, but he's got the locks flowing right now. Pretty cool. So G Prep's quarterback, Ryan McKenna has blonde hair down past his shoulders. He certainly looks like he's getting ready to play college hockey somewhere.

And here they come on second down and three, he gets behind a blocker. McKenna is going to keep it himself. Past the 40 yard line, past the 45. Taken down by Gents Hilburn on defense as he got up around the 37. That's a big demon.

Orthodontics first down. He has to be careful with those long, nice flowing locks. I remember making a tackle with a guy that had a ponytail and I dove for him because he had some serious wheels. I grabbed the hair pulled back and tore his scalp on the top of his head. Paul.

It was a legitimate tackle and he was not happy about it. It was a. Hey, man, tuck your hair in. All right, so G Prep now from their own 38 yard line. Here they come on 1st and 10.

Up the middle they go. They feed to Nick Banky. He's one of their big running backs. He is 6 foot 1, 220 pounds. He's got a gain of 5.

He's the thumper they like to run up the middle. He's the guy you have to stop. And he wears teams down, you know, as the game goes on, because he just keeps pounding that football between the center, guard and tackle. And that's a tough out for any team. Now they cycle and Mateo Sacamono to be the running back.

After the five yard gain, it's second down and five. McKenna looks over to the sideline to his father, the head coach, Dave McKenna, in his 14th year here at G Prep. McKenna goes knee up, man in motion. Here they come on second and five. Feeds up the middle to Sacamono.

He's up to the 45, 46 yard line before he's taken down by the linebackers. He did not pick up a first down. It's going to be third down and a manageable three. You can hear a play. Plenty good crowd tonight here at G Prep.

And not surprisingly, it's a close game kind of rivalry. Elsie has brought a pretty good student section as well. Third and three, here comes the snap. McKenna keeps it, fakes a handoff, takes it himself around the right side, falls forward around midfield. That is a first down by about a yard.

That's anymorethodontics. First down and G Prep is moving as we hit the 430 mark to go in the first quarter. And that's what McKenna does so well. He finds those little creases. He's able to get around the outside.

He's saw that the fullback was going to get hit, so he just pulled the ball and found a little seam. Four men down on the defensive line for Lewis and Clark. And here they come again on first down and 10. Turn and handoff left to Sac Amano. He's past the 50 yard line, into LC territory, tripped up for about a gain of three.

That tackles by Hilbert, who's all over the field. He was on the offensive side. Now he comes up, you know, from a safety spot, makes a tackle there, doing a nice job. Of getting low and wrapping up. Hilburn's not a big guy.

5 10, 1. 75 run some D3. School would be lucky to have him. Oh, he's got great speed and great vision. I love the way he plays.

Second down and seven feet out the middle again to Sac Amato. Man, there was no one there to stop him. If he hadn't been taken down from behind by the defensive lineman. Gain of four on the play. This is going to be third and two.

They've got to get down to the Lewis and Clark 40 on the left side of the field. And that's what makes prep so difficult, is because they just keep pounding away at you and they make it manageable. They get three or four yards on first down, four or five yards on second makes it really short on third down and that's tough to stop. Still no score, but Lewis and Clark, their defense looking pretty good here. Here comes the third down and two play.

Here's the snap. McKenna goes right side, spins past Jens Hilbert. But he does pick up at Amen. Orthodontics. First down by.

Man, that was close. Maybe a yard. Great read that time on the outside. And I love Hilbert. He came up and saw that that McKenna was going to get around the end, but he took his angle away, came right in there and had a corner.

Great angle. Wasn't able to wrap up, was able to knock him down. Nice tackle in the open field. We still have not seen in a pass play in all of the first quarter. A pair of option teams.

Here comes first and 10. McKenna fakes a handoff, runs the option, pitches it to Nick. Banky, is his second carry. He's up to the 35 yard line before he's taken down by Hilburn. That's a gain of three.

And that was a good block on the outside by Omen. All he had to do was cut back inside, but Banky went outside, which is well, her where Hilburn was at waiting for him. So if he's able to break that up field, he'd have even more yards. Call this a gain of four yards. Second down and six and G prep is really moving.

Here comes McKenna. It's a low snap. He fakes a handoff, runs a pitch to the outside. He goes to Omen. He turns the corner.

He's passed a couple of guys down to the 10, the 15. Taken down at the 15 yard line. Only one or two guys stood between him and the end zone. Big Demon. Orthodontics.

First down and they are into the red zone. Here with 230 to go in the first quarter. And you could just sense the offense starting to pick up the momentum they're getting. They're doing a great job of blocking up front. They're starting to figure out this LC defense and they are just making it tough on the Tigers.

Tigers put four down on the line with one linebacker on the right side looking to pass rush. Here it comes on first down and 10. It's a handoff up the middle to Banky again, Rather I take it back. It was a pitch along the outside to Sac Amano. He got up to the 10 yard line.

Really good fake by McKenna. You know, you got some flags down on the field there. You know, I can't tell what's going on, but I think that that penalty may go against Gonzaga Prep. They've got to get down to the five for a first down. But they've also, you know, get that first down back again. So they'll keep doing what they're doing. Hope they can break off a big run here. 213 to go here in the first quarter.

G prep on offense trying to strike first. Still no score between the Bullpups and Lewis and Clark. Left side of the field around the 25 yard line. Here comes a high pitch outside. It's Banky that went over his head and out of bounds.

I think somebody got a handout. I think one of the defensive events came in, was able to get a paw on that thing. It deflected it backwards. So, when McKenna pitched the ball, the ball, LC got a hand on it, got in the middle of that thing and knocked it backwards. That was a huge break for Prop.

And because they had not gotten yet, back to the line of scrimmage. That's a loss on the play. Second down and maybe 22. That's a lateral. That was a backwards play.

Nice job by by LC. G prep offense, deck of their own 26 yard line. They got to get down to the five here comes on second down. Turning handoff up the middle to McKelsey. That's his first carry of the game.

He gets back to about the 24, gain of 6. This is a big third down part of par bone. The inside backer there came up and did a nice job of making the tackle. And I think Hare was also involved in that thing as well. Those linebackers have been very active.

That was a nice play and I think you're gonna have to see them throw the football here. Let's see if they take a shot. If not, you're gonna see an option. The wide side of the field. Third down and 13 here for Gonzaga Prep on the left side of the field.

They got to get all the way down to the Lewis and Clark five yard line. Here comes McKenna. He's flanked by McKelsey in the backfield. Here it comes. Play action.

Throw it to the left side. It is off the hands of Sam Omen. He had the ball on his hands around the six and he dropped it. Yeah, that was a great play. He's got Omen coming out of the backfield.

He ran a little wheel route down the sidelines there. McKenna put that up a little bit high, but Ohman was able to go up up top and got two hands on it. Just couldn't pull it down there. That would have been a first down and a big play that Prep needed. Now they're going to kick the football.

So Lewis and Clark tried to kick earlier in this quarter. It was no good. And now G Prep brings on number 85, Matthew Herzog to put this one in the air. This ball is around the 19 yard line, so call this about a 35 yard kick. It's a high snap, good swing.

It's sailing up off to the. No, it's good. He got it just inside the right upright. G Prep takes a 3 nothing lead with 47 seconds to go in the first quarter. We'll take a break on the RV's GSL game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105.

They started in their own seven, went all the way down the field. The guy just broke the field goal left so prep was able to kick it through.

It went through on the right side. LC just missed it left and that's the difference in the game. So here come the Lewis and Clark Tigers. They're 2 and 4 on the year. G Prep should be stunning them so far.

What is stunning is that it's only a 3 nothing game and like Paul said, it should be tied here. They take over on offense from their own 21 yard line on the far left side of the field. Here comes the snap to Charles Northern, fakes, handoff goes up middle and man barely got back to the line of scrimmage. G Prep was ready. Give that tackle to the guy who you're going to hear a lot tonight.

Kaz Melzer, number 89 offers to Montana State, Eastern, Idaho, Idaho State, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Fordham, Air Force in Lehigh. Kind of a cool story. I was down doing baseball at Washington State this summer and he was going to the WSU football camp and forgot his helmet. So he was running back from the hotel we were staying at. This game is closer than we thought. Oh this is good. I like what else he's doing. I give Prep credit but give the defense credit for lc. They kept him out of the end zone and just did a field goal out of it and that's what you want to do Defensively, great job.

Here come the LC Tigers from their own 23 yard line. Second down and nine. They had a good first quarter. They run in a wing T formation and G Prep jumped. They're going to get some free yardage.

By the way, kudos to you and Deontay. Last week we had a chance to actually listen and Greely, we're on Weir's computer and listen to the broadcast sounded really good. You guys did a very nice job. And take a hat off. That's not easy to.

To come in and follow iconic people like Larry Weir. That's exactly right. The goat. Larry. Larry.

Yes. Dante's good. Former Eastern star safety Hayes, phenomenal on the radio. You know what I like is you got safeties here that are competing and getting it done and that now he's much better looking, much, you know, more athletic, much smarter in so many ways. So it's just a matter of minutes, but yours truly is replaced.

I was going to say Paul. Stop complimenting me. Oh, you meant to hunt. Yeah, sorry. That's on me.

That's on me. We'll let Larry compliment you. All right. That's a five yard penalty as G Prep jumped. So second down and four coming up here after the penalty for lc.

Hands high in the air for Northern except in a. He's anticipating a high snap, gets a low snap, drops back, looks left, looks right. He's trying to throw for the first time. He's going to tuck it and run past the 30 yard line. Taking down Andover end around the 35.

That's brutal tackle. But, but that is a Damon Orthodontics first down. That was a huge hit. He came on and he squared up with a safety. It just rocked that dude from prep.

And I give. I give Northern some credit. He's a big strong kid and he didn't. He didn't go into the slide formation. He dropped his shoulder and he delivered a blow that was impressive.

He knew where the first down mark. This is the third straight week we have broadcast an LC game on the radio. This is by far the most comfortable that Charles Northern has looked. Well, and I think it just takes time. It takes time to get get into the system.

Remember, they flipped the offense this year. This is the first year that they've run this LC from their own 35 on the right side of the 50. Black pants, black jerseys, black helmets. Here's the snap. He bobbles it, pitches it off to the right to Hilbert.

He maybe got back to the line of scrimmage, but the linebackers Came up and clobbered him. Second down and 10, no game. I don't think Gonzaga Prep's defense was very pleased about that last play because they came in and had six guys around the tackle and it tell you, it looked like, you know, bees go into the flower, man.

They were getting after it big time and they, they knocked him down. That was impressive. Looks like he got a flag down too. Waiting to see what the referee is gonna go get. Clark.

That's a 15 yarder. So that something happened there, Some kind of personal foul? Yep. No 10 yards. The headlinesman over here, I think that's Tim Peterson.

He got a little excited. This momentum going downhill just brought him to the. From the 25 down the 20, so he had to step back and we may have to give him a little. We may have to, you know, bust his chops at Scotia now. So this is a 10 yard penalty.

It's now going to be second down and 20 for Lewis and Clark from their own 25. Problem with the option is it's hard to make up 20 yards and you don't want to fall behind the sticks like this. Can't afford to get penalized. That's been a bugaboo for lc. They've had too many penalties here in the season.

And now here comes the Wildcat gents. Hilburn, the wide receiver and running back, is into play quarterback. Here's the snap. Fakes handoff. He takes it.

Now they'll run the option. Pitches it on the near side to Max Meyer. He turns the corner against the 29, the 30. He's taken down by the knees. That's a gain of five.

Big third and 15 coming up. And Hilbert hasn't shown that he can throw the football. So if you're H. T. higgins from that standpoint, you're just going to bring blitzes now and you're going to bring run blitzes because you know he's not going to throw.

So you can play man on the outside and you can bring extra people, move those safeties up so they can play the alleys as well. So you take that option away. It makes it tough. I take it back. Second down in because of the penalty.

Making it made a first down over. Second down in 15 here for Lewis and Clark. So that's more manageable. Now up to their own 29 yard line on the right side of the 50 again, they will run the Wildcat gents. Hilburn, the wide receiver, in to take the snap out of the shotgun.

He's wearing high orange socks with his black pants and black jersey. Here comes the snap. He takes it himself between the tackle and the guard. 35 falls forward to the 39 yard line. Good gain.

This is a manageable third down and six. And I love the way Hilbrun's playing. He's only a junior right now, so he's going to be on the recruiting radar for next year. And there's some players, you know, I. I think from the standpoint the last couple years the GSO been down a little bit, turning, you know, turning over Division 1, FCS type players.

And you're starting to see them build that back up again and getting more eyeballs. You know, you've got the kid from Mount Spokane, the kicker. I think he's verbal. To Texas A and M. So there's some dudes, but not as many as they've had and they need to build that back up again.

Third down and seven for Lewis and Clark. The Tailg Prep three nothing. Ten minutes to go until halftime. They'll run the wildcat again. Hilburn drops back.

He's going to throw down the near side of the field into coverage. And that one is intercepted by Gonzaga Prep. Yanked down on the left side of the 50. Boy, he went up and got it big. That was quite the intercept by Junas McGraw.

Yep, that was a great pin. And that almost looked like a punt. And to be honest, that could have acted as a punt. He had a guy open down the sideline. He threw it too far inside and underneath the coverage.

And the corner comes off there. Nice job by McGraw. He picked that. He high pointed it. Picked it off.

Jens Hilburn is an unpack unbelievable player. I don't think he has the arm of a quarterback. So I get that it's kind of a trick play, but that was unnecessarily risky. Yeah, but then you know you're probably gonna have to punt and that kind of acted like a punt too. So I take a shot.

Nothing wrong with that. All right, here comes G Prep after the interception. They will take it over on their own 34 yard line on the left side of the 50. Here it comes. On first down, McKenna takes it and pitches it to the left side.

That's Banky. He turns the corner, the 45 to 50 push out of bounds. That's a big game in orthodontics. First down, outside backer that time. Shot the gap and he went inside.

And then guess what? They pitched the ball outside so you're inside leverage your linebacker. That's supposed to be out there to make the tackle, took himself out of the play. Corner gets blocked. The safety has to come over and make that tackle.

Boy, if Gonzaga Prep is able to get down the field and put it in the end zone here, Elsie is going to be mad at themselves. 920 to go until halftime. Still 3 nothing G prep but the pups nearly scored a touchdown on their last drive. Head coach Joe Ireland really, he's the D coordinator too. He's really firing up this defense.

9 minutes to go until halftime as we turn from the break, here comes G Prep on offense around the corner. They pitch to Nick Banky down the sideline. It goes 35, down to the 30s. Still on his feet. Shook off a defender.

Looks like he got down inside the 25. A huge David Orthodontics first down and a gain of almost 25 yards. We talked to Northern Trucking as safety for Godzaga Prep. Well, Mr. Bankley just did the same thing for Lewis and Clark, so there's some intensity going on between these two teams right now in terms of hitting Banky, the running back for G prep 6 1, 220 as a running back.

Here they come on first down. Fake a handoff to him. McKenna keeps it himself, spins off three defenders, eventually taken down in the linebacker corps just inside the 20 yard line. That'll put him in the red zone. That's what makes it tough.

He keeps fighting and scratching. You can sense his toughness. And trust me, a quarterback in the option is going to take a bunch of hits. If you carry 20, 25 times, you're getting hit even more than that because even when you're pitching the ball, you're still getting hit. So that's a tough cat right there, you know, anchoring this offense.

Gain of three second down and seven. Here's the snap. Fake handoff pitch along the left side to go to Bankie. It's that same play. He turns the corner.

The 15 to 10, the five down to the goal line. He did not quite get it. I think he stepped out on the four. That's where the side judges over there. But either way, that's going to be a Damon Orthodontics first down.

And they are inside the 10. Two of their biggest plays have been that pitch. The left side going outside. So they found something there. The end has been hooked up.

Linebackers getting blocked. Good stock block on the corner out there. And that's been. That's been a difference to Nick Banky both times. Yep.

And so they found something. And that's what you do until they can stop it. Keep running. It also gave a penalty on the play, actually. That'll march him back.

Probably holding. Yeah. Another. That's maybe why the end was. Was hooked because the tackle.

Shame on him. Little grabby pants over there. They throw the flag and that's 10 yards. And the coach is going to yell at you to come off the sidelines. Sun don't hold.

Just wall him off. Coach. He's bigger than I am. I have to hold him. Okay.

755 to go until halftime. G Prep 3. Lewis and Clark nothing. But LC is holding strong. This is the best they have looked like in the last three weeks that we have seen them.

Hilburn back at safety, stating himself at the 14 yard line as the G Prep often comes out at the 25 yard line. On the right side of the 50. Here they come. Mechanic gets behind a guy, run the option. That ball's on the ground.

It looks like. It looks like McKelsey fell on it. He did. G Prep maintains possession. Paul.

That is the second time we've seen them bobble or botch a pitch on the option. And both times have been going left. Yeah, so that's a tougher throw because you have to use your left hand to pitch that. If you're going right, you know, McKenna's right handed. So that's a harder pitch for a guy.

And that looked like it just Kind of came off his hand weird and was thrown down by his feet. That was on McKenna that time. Time on that pitch after the loss. Third down and 14 for G prep there at the LC 26 on the right side of the field. G Prep on offense.

White pants, white jerseys, white helmets. Here comes the snap play action and McKenna throws down the far left sideline. It's hold in O', Keefe, his first catch of the game. He's down to the six yard line on the left side of the field before he's pushed out of bounds. That is a big 15 yard gain and a Damon Orthodontics first down.

First completion that we've seen throwing the football here in this game. But nice job. Just ran an option route down about 12 yards, turned outside the ball was right there. Nice job by McKenna to throw. And then he picked up another three after catch.

Well done. Goal to go. Referees are blowing their whistles. It looks like we might get a timeout on the field here. And they do.

We will take it with them. Stay here. Yeah, we'll stay here. Sure. And we're good because we'll do a little drop in.

They're attacking the left side of these, this LC defense, both pitching the ball outside side to the running backs and then on the play action making sure they throw the football to the that receiver on the left side as well.

That's where they've had their biggest gains. It's been working for him. So first and goal from the LC5. McKenna comes out from the shotgun. He's got McKelsey behind him.

They're both standing behind the 10. Here they come on first and goal. It's a low snap, fakes the handoff. McKelsey. McKenna takes it up the middle between the center and the guard.

Touchdown, G Prep. It is 9 nothing. Bullpups with 644 to go until halftime. That was just an option read to the right side. Very well blocked by that right side of the offensive line there, lc.

It looks like they were slanting away from that play and he just found a seam. And that's McKenna's first touchdown of the night. He had a couple of big runs last week, couple of touchdowns as well. And he's having himself an MVP type season. So last week against Central Valley, McKenna had 160 rushing yards, two touchdowns.

Those two rushing touchdowns for him from 43 and 45 yards out. Unbelievable. That kick is up, it is good, and it is 10 nothing. And now he will take a break as G Prep leads by 10. This is the Arby's GSL game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105.

It is returned by one of LC's up men past the 50 yard line down to the G Prep man 35. That was Bennett Hendrickson the junior up man.

He's a five foot five junior. He's in the third line of that kick return team. Man he just got him across the 50 and his legs look like he was just running in sand. I mean he just had some wheels. He found a little seam up the left side.

He just scooted right down in front of the LC sidelines there. That was a great return. That gets Lewis and Clark right back in this ball game because it gives him great field position. So ELS LC takes over on offense from the 45 yard line of G prep on the left side of the 50. Charles Northern the quarterback has been had a pretty good game but let's see what he does with a double digit deficit.

They have a wing T formation here that put Jen Silbert in motion on first down. Handoff straight middle to Matt Hare, the 6 foot tall 220 pound bowling ball of a running back. He's got a gain of three yards as he went right up the gut. Actually make it four. Yeah that was a good run and I think you keep running that until they stop it.

Then you take the quarterback and pitch the ball out to Hilbert on the outside because he's been the guy that's who you want to get the football in the hands. Jens is an outstanding football player with great speed but remember he's playing both ways and he's returning punts and kicks. He's going to be a tired cat here at the end of the the night. Tigers and all black tonight. Lewis and Clark on the right side of the field on offense.

G Prep in all whites. G white for G prep in all whites. Lewis and Clark on all blacks here on second down and six. Here comes a snap. Northern gives back to Matt Hare and he was met by Watkins and Melzer.

Good luck. No game. Yeah, Melzer is going to win that battle and that, that's, that's a dude that's going to be playing college football at the next level and will be very successful at it and I give him a lot of credit. He, he's gone to a lot of camps. He's worked on getting bigger and stronger.

He is a very and he gets double teamed on almost every game. Sometimes triple team because he's the focus. That's who as an offensive staff you see him you have to try to know where he's at at all times. He spun down forward so actually give him a gain of a yard on a play. So this is third down and a long three here for Lewis and Clark.

Down 10 nothing. But their offense is moving. Here comes a good snap right at the head of Northern. He turns and pitches to Jens Hilburn. He fakes a guy off, spins forward down toward the 30 yard line to be close.

This is going to be right up against the sticks. The referees might have to bring the chains out. We'll see. It's a David Orthodontics first down and the Tigers are moving. See, they should have patched pitch that ball just a half step earlier.

He would have been able to get around the corner. Just got tripped up there by the outside backer and that was enough to get that momentum down. And I think Jen's is coming over. They might put him at the Wildcat, let him get after it here and do some direct snaps. 5 minutes to go until halftime.

10 nothing. G prep but Lewis and Clark is in a good job of this option offense running the clock down. There's nothing to say they couldn't take another three or four minutes on this drive and punch it in. So here they come from the 30 yard line on the left side of the 50. Here comes Charles Northern.

A high slow snap. Actually no. It's a Wildcat formation and it's Jen Silburn. He turns and pitches to his main man, Max Meyer. He turns the corner, gain a two.

Yeah, Meyer, you know, basically did a good job. They I think prep on that play did a really nice job of kind of spreading that, that option out and there really was no place to cut back. He took that away. They took away the outside of the field with good corner containment. So that was well, defense that time by the Gonzaga prep defense.

And it looks like they're gonna send Hilburn back out to run the Wildcat yet again and play quarterback. Let him run it. I mean the offense runs through him. I'd go whiteside the field, let him see if he can get around the corner. Second down and long.

Last time Hilbert tried to pass out of the Wildcat, it was a G Prep interception that led to a touchdown later on the drive. They can't do it again. Here it comes, second and long. He gets behind his main blocker, Matt Hare, falls forward down the right side of the line. G Prep is coming up saying that ball's on the ground and that they recovered it.

Was there maybe a fumble on the play? The referees are getting everyone off each other. Down at the 30 yard line. Yeah. Prep has a football handing it back to the.

To the umpire, but I think he might have been down the ground when that thing came out. Yeah, I think LC is going to keep possession here. Very lucky for them. So this is going to be third down and 10 after. After a loss of two on that play.

I think this is two down territory anyway for LC there. I don't think they're going to kick from here. I mean, it's close enough. It's that that first field goal was right on kind of the fringe of the kicker for Lewis and Clark's, you know, range. Third and 10 for LC down in the G prep 30 yard line.

They're down 10, nothing. Here comes the snap. Hilbert is in a quarterback. He pitches it. It's on the ground.

It is recovered by Meyer. There's somehow managed to get a gain of. They're saying that was a pass. That was a pitch. That was a fumbled pitch.

That was a fumbled pitch. Yeah. So the sideline judge over there on Gonzaga Prep side, and I don't think Dave McKenna is very happy about that. He shouldn't be. That was a fumbled pitch.

Yeah, exactly. They called it incomplete pass. So. All right there by that. That fine official.

So I guess 4th down and 10 and they're marketing and marching them over between the hashes here. And it looks like LC is going to bring out their kicking unit again to at least try to get on the board. Last time Wilson Hash came out in the first quarter, he tried to, what was it, about a 30 yard kick. It missed off to the left. This ball's at the 30.

This is a 46 yard kick for Wilson Hash, who missed one from about 30 earlier in the game. Now he delayed the game, so they're gonna have to go back five yards. Here comes the. Does he have a 51 yarder in his leg? I don't think so.

No, I agree. This was already gonna be too far. I agree. All right. Well, coast to coast turf.

That's got to know where the clock is and snap the ball. This was a very promising drive for the Tigers. It's going to end in a punt with Ryan McKenna and Lucia Reynolds back to receive the punt. But they're punting from man that the snap is coming from the 35. This is is not going to be very much of a pun.

They get this one away, it is still rolling down inside the 10. The five. What a great kick. It's down to the four yard line and that's where G Prep is going to have to take it from. On offense with 305 to go until halftime, they lead by 10.

They come right back to the line for second down and manageable from the 11. Here comes the pitch along the left side. They're running the option again. This time it's to Banky. They love this play.

This time he cannot turn the corner. Short gain on the play. They were ready for it that time. Paul, take a guess at who made the tackle. The first 500 don't count the second one does.

Hilbert? Yeah. Yeah, he's good. He's had about. He's pretty great.

Six or seven tackles already in the open field. And he comes in there, he reads it so well. Gets up and cuts their legs right out from under him. 3rd down and 3 for G prep on their own 10 yard line. Here comes the pitch along the left side.

It's the same play to Banky. Man, he was almost taken down. He got to the 20. That's going to be a name of orthodontics. First down.

If the first guy to make the tackle had done it, he would have been stopped. But he broke it and turned it into a first down. When you're 220 pounds you could do that. Nice job. Well this winter tackle the roads with proud GSL partner Tiorama and Cooper tires Tirerama and Cooper tires more than just a tire storm.

New first down. Here comes a low snap to McKenna. He gets back to the line of scrimmage, takes it right and then he's brought down by a pretty good effort by the LC defensive line. It's a gain of about two on the play. Second and eight coming up.

Two minutes to go until halftime. GPRAEVON offense they lead by 10. That's the thing that makes it tough because you're chasing Gonzaga Prep. But they do such a great job at eating clock because they eat yards and time of possession. Second down and eight after the gain of two, here comes the snap.

McKenna hucks it up in the air. It's a rainbow ball downfield. Hauled it at the 50 yard line by Bo Howell. What a catch. A huge gain of almost 30 yards down the right sideline.

That's a huge Damon Orthodontics first down. G Prep wants one more touchdown before halftime. 15 yard catch though Keith to set up that touchdown that McKenna scored on. Now the 30 yarder to how the junior he's also a captain. Nice job on that fade Rod.

He just waited till last minute, went up and high pointed the football. They are down to the Lewis and Clark 45. Like we said, they want one more touchdown. Here comes McKenna. They move fast.

Here comes a good snap. Fakes the handoff, pitches near side to Omen. He turns up field and gets pushed out of bounds around the 40. That's a gain of about five. But that's stops the clock.

You've got 131 to go here. He gets five yards on that just or four yards. Just doing an excellent job. They go to the tight side of the field. They just ran out of field position and now they're getting out of bounds to start stopping the clock.

They want another score and they're also going to get the ball to start the third quarter. Yep. G Prep by 10. Trying to punch it in one more time before the end of the half. 131 to go until the break.

Hand sign the air for McKenna. Here comes the the play. It's the option to the right. It's on the Ground. It was a bad pitch and it was recovered at the last second by Omen.

Except they have 112,000 people that do it and everybody wears white and they all wear wave white little hankies. It's impressive.

That's a good observation, Paul. Gonzaga Prep is Not Penn State. 123 to go. Fair enough until halftime. 10 nothing.

G Prep. They're trying to punch one more in. Now they're back at the 45 yard line. Here they come. McKenna takes the snap.

That's a face mask on the LC defensive line. He is dragged down the 45. That's. That's a brutal face mask. Here comes the flag.

And that one is deserved. Man, that's that. You could see his head kind of whip around there and. And the back judge actually was the guy that called that. He threw that flag from about 20 yards back.

Well, yeah, that was obvious. And it came in. It was a sideline warning and then also a face mask personal foul. And that's the 15 yards. So two fouls on that.

He had a sideline warning on, I think on Gonzaga Prep. And then he also had a 15 yard face mask that you mentioned. That was a head spinner. They call that the Linda Blair. That is a Damon Orthodontics first down.

And now they're really starting to get toward that LC red zone. They're going to mark this ball at end. The Lewis and Clark 29 yard line on the Far right side of the field. G prep on offense going left to right across your radio dial. They lead 10 nothing, 115 to go until halftime.

They are trying to put in one more touchdown and the way it's going, it looks like they just might do it. The sad part about this whole thing too Greg, is they were playing good defense. Gave up 15 yards with no time in the clock. Here they come from the LC 29 yard line. White on offense, white hands, white helmet, white jersey.

Throw down the middle by McKenna. Touchdown, right into the end zone. What a catch by bo Howell. His second of the drive that one. A 29 yard strike over the middle from McKenna to Bo Howell and that's what we talk about.

You creep up, try to stop the run, you're in man to man coverage on the outside. He just ran a post and Howell ran by everybody that time from 29 yards out. Very nice throw by McKenna. He just feathered that ball in there and when he turned around the ball was right there. And that's how fast they can score now.

Now all of a sudden they're going to get the ball to start the second half. That could be a two for nothing possession deal. And that's where they really pull away. And here comes the swing, the kick, the pat that one is up and it is good. 17 nothing Gonzaga prep and this game was 00 and then 30 most of the way.

But the last couple of minutes, here comes the G Prep offense. The LC defense could only hold them off for so long. Paul, couple of big passes. You know, give give Howell some credit. That's a pretty nice play.

That's a big play in my opinion. Might be our candidate for play of the game from a standpoint because it's kind of putting some separation between these two teams. And he had two big catches, a 30 yarder and then that 39 yard touchdown so. Or 29 yard touchdown. So that's what 50, that's almost 60 yards receiving on drive, two catches, you know, and, and also McKenna, I think no, he's three for four because he had that one wheel route dropped on the sidelines that led to the early field.

And although McKenna does not have a ton of rushing yards himself today he now has a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown just on the first half. Not bad. And that's the thing, that's, that's what makes it tough to stop this defense. You have to have great play on your corners, you got to be able to cover guys all over the field and you have to have excellent Linebacker plays. You got to stop that a gap and then make and then run to the football, rally to the ball.

And that wears you out. And here comes the G Prep kit going left to right across your radio dial. It's another short one. That one's only down to around the 30 yard line. It's on the ground.

This is going to be second down and 11 after the loss. Here comes Northern deep in the shotgun. Here comes the snap, turns and hands off the middle to Hilburn. He had a Jets on that one. If he hadn't been taken down by a linebacker with his left arm, he might have been gone.

Instead, it's a gain of three and it's going to be third down and long. Coming up with 15 seconds to go until halftime. They might get off one more play. I think they're just gonna stay in the huddle and let this thing run out. Heck of a second quarter for Gonzaga Prep.

Well, this has been a fun one so far and a pretty fast one on our RB's GSL game of the week here at halftime. I'm Greg Talbot alongside the Goat Paul sorensen. G prep 17 Lewis and Clark nothing but it was not always that way 1st Quarter LLC got all the way down the field. They tried a field goal. It did not go in.

They missed it off to the left. G Prep took over. They went all the way down the field. They successfully got a field goal in against Lewis and Clark. Three nothing bullpups at the end of one and then the second quarter was all G Prep.

McKenna the quarterback, the senior Ryan McKenna ran it in for a touchdown on the right side of the field from about 10 yards out to make it 10 nothing and then right toward the end of the half over the top. McKenna hit Bo Howell the second of 220 plus yard touchdown passes on that drive alone. So three nothing, 10 nothing and then 17 nothing. Gonzaga Prep here A wonderful night. All right, like you said Paul Sort. Just just a couple minutes until we are done with halftime and ready to kick off the second half of action on our RB's GSL game of the week. At the break, Gonzaga Prep 17, Lewis and Clark. Nothing but the first quarter very evenly matched like you said. Second quarter, 2G Prep touchdowns and they started to pull away.

Let's give our first half MVPs I think we kind of have them in mind for both teams. But let's start with Lewis and Clark. Is there any question in your mind? It's Jen Silbert. It's Jen Silburn.

He's got seven tackles on, on defense. He also probably close to 80 yards rushing, if not more because he had those two long runs. You know, on that first drive he's done the wildcat. He's come out of the slot, he's come out of the IBAC formation. He's been all over the field.

Also threw an interception. Yeah, but that's, I mean they put him in a tough situation there where, you know, it's tough to throw the ball and he just threw it too far inside. Give the defensive back credit. They, they'd like to make some plays from time to time. Not everybody's a quarterback running back.

You got to have some guys that can step up on the other side and prep has been able to do that On Gonzaga prep side, I'm going to go with the wide receiver. I'm going to go with, with Boholin who has two catches for almost 60 yards. He has that touchdown and he's also blocked very, very well on the, on the exterior. You know, kind of opening things up for McKenna Sakamoto and then Bankley who's been a beast at 6 1, 220 pounds. He's had a couple of great runs.

The big surprise, honestly Paul, to me of the first half is that Nick Banky didn't find a way to score a touchdown. He will though. He's close before the game's done. I think he got a little excited and he stepped on a shot and he stepped out of the five or else he'd have been right there and would have been able to punch it in. But he's the touchdown maker when you get inside the five yard line.

No question. Ryan McKenna also excellent here in the first half tonight. He ran it for a touchdown himself from about 78 yards out and then threw it over the top to Howell for a touchdown to make it 17 nothing. If Lewis and Clark comes back Somehow from down 17 to win, it's going to be because of gents Hilbert and I can, I think Paul, we can say it's probably going to be one of those three for the Alliant Insurance player of the game. You have to remember the pandemic has really messed up things the last two years for high school kids to be seen. But I'll tell you right now, you want to get a good workout, try to move a couple feet of snow out of somebody's driveway that's 60 yards long. Paul, that's a workout. Here's how he got there. A field goal in the first quarter. Then Ryan McKenna, their quarterback, ran for a touchdown to start the second quarter. And right before halftime they went over the top. McKenna Bo Howell for his second catch of the game for about 20, 25 yard touchdown.

What are we going to see in the second half? Well, I think we're going to see more of what Gonzaga Prep does very well, which is run the football and then take some shots downfield in terms of play action. And you've seen McKenna complete three passes, one of them for a touchdown. They've done a pretty good job of holding McKenna in check in terms of running, but I think he's been able to hurt them a little bit with their. With the arm on side kick.

It's an onside kick from Hash. It's recovered by the very front line for G Prep at their own 49. Man, they're only making them go 51 yards. And a flag comes in from the near side. Ref.

Huh? That's weird. Maybe have been, I don't know, maybe an offsides or something. I. I don't know why you throw a flag.

You know, right there it was more. It was a 10 yard kick. It got 10 yards. Interesting. All right, well, here we go.

Ready to start the second half of action. My scoring sheet just blew out the window. Oh, well, I got you. Don't worry. Kids playing with a.

With a little paper plane down there. Hey, dude, that's my scoring sheet. Can I have that back? I think they have more fun things to do than play with your score sheet, Paul. Oh, here it is.

Okay, I'm gonna send to the home. They recovered at their own 49 yard line. Another referees are marching them across the 50 inside. That's a 14 yard penalty, Greg. Yeah.

All right, so G Prep's only got to go 36 yards on the left side of the 50 to start the the second half. They're up 17 nothing and now only a 36 yard field to go. Here comes Ryan McKenna out of the shotgun. The quarterback with blonde hair down to his shoulders. Hands off up the middle.

This is McKelsey. He had a good first half. He's up toward the secondary and it looks like he got just about on Amen orthodontics. First down. No, he got about eight yards out of it.

Second and two. Nice job. Nice tackle by the safety Meyer that came up. Did a good job of putting his head in there and finally getting him down on the ground. McKelsey in the backfield directly behind Ryan McKenna.

They put a man in motion. Here they come. On second down, it's back to McKelsey. Taken down by a linebacker on the left side of the line. That's an emitter.

First down. He's down to the 20. And that's what they're doing. They're just pounding the middle again. And then they're going to set up play action.

They're going to set up the option. Either keep on McKenna or the pitch back to the big fullback. He got down to the 20, 21 yard line. So a new first down for G Prep and they are Holland here. They are not waiting.

Only two linebackers in the set on defense here for LC they go back to McKelsey, goes off tackle to the right, scoots around the line, keeps his feet chugging, gain a four or five. The thing that, that's impressive about that in terms of that keeps your inside backers and your D line occupied, which opens up then attack to the outside. Watch them come back to the wide side of the field here and see if they can get wide with either McKenna keeping around the end or pitching back to the to the back. Second down and six after a gain of four on the play. Another wing T formation here for G Prep on the right.

Hash mark on the far left side of the field here comes on second down. It's a pitch to the outside. They go back to Oman. He turns the corner, he's down inside the 15 toward the 10. He's pushed out of bounds.

That was a gain of about 8 or 9 yards. Let's see what the referees mark this. This is going to be very close. Looks like they put him down 14. He stepped out of bounds.

Stepped out of bounds and kept going. This is going to be third and one. Yeah, so that's, that's close. Let's see if they come back with a Fullback dive between the the center and the guard there and. Or keep the pitch and let McKenna try to get around to the outside.

Got out of bounds that stopped the clock. 10:45 to go in the third quarter. 17 nothing. G Prep. They're down at the LC 14 yard line.

Hands high on the air for McKenna. He turns and hands off to McKelsey. They were expecting the dive, but he still got a couple yards out of it. That's any minorthodontic first down. Very good blocking by the offensive line that time.

They created the hole there and they were able to wedge block the nose guard and the middle linebacker and that created that space between center and guard which opened things up for the first down. He got down between the nine and the 10 yard line. They're going to call it just inside the 10. So it's first down and goal from about the nine and a half for G Prep. They're in white jerseys, white helmets and white pants.

Here comes Ryan McKenna out of the gun. He's got McKelsey behind him here in a wing T formation. Here it comes. McKenna is going to keep it himself. Off the right after the fake handoff, he goes shoulder first into a linebacker.

And he's into the end zone. Touchdown. Gonzaga Prep. 24 nothing. Now another nice run to the outside.

And he just did that. He basically he bought time by faking the fullback dive. That got those inside backers to bite on it. And then great blocking by the right tackle that sealed the end and McKenna was able to get around there very quick. But again another hanky came in and they're gonna move that back.

Maybe that's why that right in was open. There's another hole. That's the second hold that we've seen on a big McKenna run around the right side. And that's gonna not. That's not gonna make head coach David McKenna very happy.

It is going to stay 17 nothing. G Prep, at least for the moment. Doesn't seem like that'll be permanent, Paul. No, I don't. They get the down over, so that's good.

Still first down. Yeah. So a new first down. They're gonna push him back to the 20 yard line. So first and goal from the 24G prep.

Here comes McKenna. He's gonna run the option to the left pitches along the outside. He's got Oman. He turns the corner. He's inside the 10.

Dragon guys with them down by the knees to the 7. Big game, 13 yards. See, and that's. You think he got him pinned back? You know they're back.

It's first a goal in the 20 and then they break up a 13 yard run. Excellent blocking by the wide receiver out there. And Omar just did a nice job of cutting back inside. He read the block he saw and there's another hold. So another penalty.

They must maybe the officials had a little halftime saying, you know, guys, we got to call the hold here. Well, they've called it three times here on this drive. They're getting after it, they're getting their money's worth. That yellow hanky may have to go to the dry cleaner on Monday. 14th year head coach Dave McKenna not going to be happy about this.

No, he's not. Penalties are, you know, now you could pretty much call. To be honest, you can call holding on every play. Yeah, but we were always taught that if it came to your side and impacted the play on your side, you, you won't, you know, call the stuff on the other side of the field. So if that impacted the play and they threw the Hank in there, that's the right call.

So here we go again, this time first down and goal from the 26 yard line. G prep after the touchdown is taken back, it is now back to being 17 nothing. Here comes the snap. McKenna. It's a reverse along the right side.

It's O'. Keefe. He touched it he once already tonight on a nice catch. He turns up field, gets to around the 20, gain of 6. Man should stay that side.

I'm surprised Lewis and Clark was able to stop that for not a touchdown just to gain a six. Give the quarter out there. And that, I think that was Jen Zilbron who's out there again by himself playing corner. And he forced everything back to inside it. He had three blockers out there.

It would have been three on one. He cut it, he cut it against the green. Second down and goal from the 20. They've got to go 20 yards in the next couple plays. Here comes McKenna, fakes handoff, gets along the right side, stays on his feet.

Tripped up by a linebacker. Actually, no, it was gents. Hilburn, he's got a gain of four or five yards and now. And McKenna's upset about that. He wanted to step over the top.

But Hilburn comes in, he takes a great angle, goes right at the knees. I love the way that kid plays. Isn't he the best? He's one of my absolute faves right now because he's all over the field. He's got this orange sleeves on, he's got orange leggings on.

You know he he's a stud and he's not big but I love his energy. He's fun, right? I love Gen Silver and his technique is really good. It's a rugby tackle, it's eyes to the thigh and he's hard. Basically the hardest tackle you can make is open field like that.

He brings him down every time. Very impressive. Third down and goal from the 15 for G prep. Here comes McKenna, surveys the defense. Only one deep safety back he throws to the left side.

That one is hauled in by o' Keefe around the five yard line but he's dragged down, pushed backward. He did not get all the way there. He got down to about the five. So let's see if they kick or keep their offense out there for what's going to be fourth and goal from around the six. Fuel goal guy coming in.

Let's give Lewis and Clark's defense some kudos now. Three holding penalties on this drive has not helped Gonzaga Prep, but they had great field position inside LC's 50 and they're going to turn them away here at the very least with a field goal. If they miss it, no points. That's a great victory. That may get this this Tiger team back in the game.

Matthew Herzog just put on a 22 yard field goal for Gonzaga Prep. Now he's back out there to kick it away. G prep leads 20 nothing and they kick it away here to Lewis and Clark once again. It's a short little kick recovered around the 35 yard line. That ball looks like it's on the ground.

I think G Prep fell on it. Oh, you got to be kidding me. They continue to do those short up kicks and it worked. It was fumbled. G Prep fell on it.

They took over again on the LC30 after they just scored a couple of points. Did he try to fair catch that? If he did, that could be fair catch interference on that. If not, he's fair game. And I think he caught the ball and as soon as he did, yeah, one of the Gonzaga Prep defenders, you know, smoked him and that, that forced the football free.

That would be the second turnover of the night for Gonzaga Prep. After the interception in that first half, it looks like the Prep offense is back out of the field. 7 minutes and 40 seconds to go here in the third quarter. They're going to award Gonzaga Prep the ball there. Yep.

They just got down to the 20 yard line. So they are in the LC red zone as the G Prep student section on the far side of the field starts to chant. You can hear that on our crowd microphones. And a flag comes in to start the play. That's on the bullpups offside.

No, that's offside against Lewis and Clark. Somebody lined up in the neutral zone and they pointed. That's a five yard freebie. And that's not going to make head coach Joe Ireland very happy. They've been pretty, they've been relatively, you know, good on the penalty front here.

Prep has had the issues with the holding and some of the other things. So correct me if I'm wrong, I think G Prep has had one, one touchdown called back and a Couple more big plays back. Yeah. 3. Three big McKenna runs have all been called back as a holding.

All right, first down and five, they're down to the 50. It's a low snap to McKenna here. He runs the option to the left. He'll keep it himself. He terms up field.

He's inside the 10 at the last half. Mark left, hash mark. He's falls forward, down to about the seven. And he's not afraid of contact. He could have stayed outside, but he just lowered that shoulder and took on the inside linebacker and also the safety and just drove him back a couple yards.

And this is what they did second half last week against Central Valley. Got some turnovers, some big sacks, and all of a sudden it was Katie Bar the door. Here comes the snap, the swing from Herzog. That kick is up and it is good. Midway through the third five, 34 until the end of the third.

Gonzaga Prep 27, Lewis and Clark nothing. Paul, this is a close game for a while, but it just got out of hand. It has. And you know the touchdown pass really that, that got it to 17 and nothing. And then you had the 22 yard field go.

Great job by the LC defense because they had short field to defend, kept him out of the end zone. And then of course they had that fumble on the kickoff and that was the back breaker. And then the touchdown. Referees, move this one up. 26 yard line on the left side of the field is where Elsie will take over after, after the kick.

Here comes the first down. Charles Northern takes the snap, hands it off up the middle to Matt Hare. They're big running back, 6ft tall, 220 pounds. He plows forward with his right shoulder. He's got a gain of one.

And it's not like you have five receivers out there, you know, running the, you know, the Okie doke all over the field. So you've got to run and you've got to stay with the option. That's the problem. When the veer falls behind like this, it does two things. It burns, clock is it.

Unless you can break off a, you know, 75 yard run, you're in trouble. And so you've got to score quickly, try to get the ball back. This offense is not built for that. LC puts gents Hilburn into the game and he's flanked to the right of the quarterback. Charles Northern, their best player here.

Hilburn is in as a running back. They'll run the option. He fakes the pitch to Hilburn and it looks like Northern's gonna keep it himself. He does. He goes to the right.

Hash mark taken down to the 30, gain of about three yards. This will be third down and six. And really if you take that, that fumble out of the way, it's still 20 to now. LC has the ball they have a chance if they score. Now all of a sudden you're.

You've got a two score game, you're right back in it. But then you fumble the football. You give them. You give prep short field. They go right down the field and score.

And you can just kind of feel the air go out of the Lewis and Clark sidelines. So this is a big third down and six coming out of here for lc. This is the best Charles Northern has looked in any of these games we've seen the last couple of weeks. What can he and the team do on third and seven? Here it comes.

It's an option they're going to use. Hilburn is a blocker. Northern gets to the left side and is taken down the line of scrimmage for no gain. Man, oh man. It was Kaz Meltzer on the far outside as the pass rusher.

He brings down the quarterback for no gain. 4th and 6th and they will punt. And it's not like these guys aren't used to running up against the veer. They face it every day in practice. So this is like going up against, you know, the practice team and getting after it.

And the prep defense has done a very nice job. They're throwing a shutout here and they're going to get the football back when they punt the ball here. All right, in a punt. This one away. Left to right across your radio dial for LC is Wilson/, also their field goal kicker.

And that's the thing that this option does so well. They wear you down. They continue to put pressure on you. If you don't turn the football over, you're in trouble. Prep is starting to impose their will here in the third quarter.

Your linebackers and safeties are really the guys that have to come up. Defensive ends have played pretty well. I'm not. I think LC has done a nice job defending this. They really have.

They just had some bad breaks. Hilburn and Hare, their best. Two players with a bullet tonight. Yeah, exactly. Call it a gain of just two yards on the play.

Second down and eight coming up. And they're into LC territory. Here comes the pass down the middle. That one is hauled in by Omen. And you're not pass interference.

A flag comes in at the 25 yard line. There was a collision downfield And I couldn't tell who it was on one of the defenders. I think it might have been Cox, number 20. He was just trying to get to the flat and he ran through the receiver when the ball was in the air. So they're going to call pass interference on that.

It looked like the receiver caught the ball, but that's going to be a, you know, a 15 yard penalty. Think he dropped that going down? Yeah, I think so, too. And so again, there's been two big penalties that continue these drives. So they come down, throw the ball.

It's pretty well defended. It would have been second and 10. It would have been third and 10 if they, they knocked that around. He just kind of a bad break for the Tigers there, where a guy trying to get to his spot ends up running through a receiver who's trying to run his route after the pig prep. Now gets to move up 15 yards.

They take it from the Lewis and Clark 31 yard line on the left side of the 50. G prep in white pants, white jerseys, white helmets, driving right to left across your radio dial. McKenna. He gets to the edge. Maybe a gain of two or three on the play that time. Nice job that time. Looks like Tommy Mickelson came up 170 pound corner, put his head right in there and flipped the running back up in the air. Nice tackle.

Nicholson had a great pick two weeks ago against Mount Spokane. He's a good little football player, too. I like him. And he's not afraid to stick his nose in there. And he came in and blew the running back up big time.

He's done a nice job. We're inside a minute here in the third quarter, so a couple things are going on. The imposing the will is going on by prep. They're utilizing the clock and they continue to move the ball. Expeditiously down the field.

It's low. It's at his knees. He keeps it. He shakes off a guy. That was not a good snap.

And I think rather to the end of the third quarter and in the way it looks like they're taking their time getting up from the pile. That will take us down to the end of the third quarter. Yeah, but I think this is. This is two down territory. And this is where you see the fullback, you know, do real well, or McKenna pulling that ball and then bouncing around to the outside. So this could be a tough, tough defense here for Lewis and Clark. Try to keep him out of the end zone.

That was just a great run. Great power and an excellent six yard run. But let's give the offense credit. They grinded out that drive, got a pass interference that kept things going. And again, Lewis and Clark, they've defended well.

That's a gain of two, you know, and that's just the thing. You need an explosive. You got to get a big play here. And you're down to 10 minutes in the game and you're down 34 to nothing, you know, but you're afraid if you throw the football in the air. You've already thrown one interception on the night.

You've had one turnover. On special teams, you don't want to turn the football over here. You got to put together some of first downs. Second down and eight coming up. LC takes over at their own 13 yard line here for second and eight.

G Prep puts four down on defense. And here comes a fifth linebacker creeping up to rush. Here it comes. Pitch along the left side. It's to Jen Silburn.

He's wrapped up by the CB's gain a two on the play, got to the 15. Great job. Good tackle on the outside out there. And that was, that was Reynolds who's a senior. And you know, it's interesting.

On defense there's only five seniors for prep. There's only two on offense. They are a team full of juniors. If G prep is good now, they're going to be monsters next year. I know this is the third ranked team in the state of Washington and I'll tell you, I think this is a team that can make a deep run in the postseason.

If they do and we have a chance, we're going to follow them. It means you're going to be busy. I love it, man. You kidding me? You and I are going to get shipped off like North Dakota.

You and Larry are going deep in the in and the playoffs Eastern as well. Here comes third down, Northern drops back, looks to throw, steps up and he's taken down, man. The G Prep D line wrapped them up down back the 13 for a loss on the play. Great sack. That's going to be a punting situation.

Reynolds again that time. Actually McKiernan came in number five and he just shot the gap that time they brought an inside back or they rushed the three and they were able to occupy the five. And then that freed up the backer who came straight through and really no place for the LC quarterback to go. This is, this is a nightmare second half. But you know what?

People that have played prep have had nightmare second halfs again this season. They including, including even Central Valley last week. Oh, let's see. Three turnovers they forced and six sacks. Yeah, that's a Long day.

Luciano Lucio Reynolds back to receive. The punt for G Prep. He's back around midfield. He makes the catch at the 49, takes it up along the left side line. Inside the the 40, inside the 30.

Pushed out of bounds around the 29. And another again, again. Great, great return there. Remember, they tried the onside kick to start the game or the second half. That gave great field position to Gonzaga Prep.

Now you have an excellent punt return. It gets it all the way down inside the 30 yard line or just right about it. That's just. That puts your defense into, into some really adverse situations. I would love to see this Gonzaga Prep team once we get to like the second or third round of the playoffs.

I think they're going to steamroll competition in the first round or two, but once we start getting down to 8, 4, 2, I would love to see this team in tight games. Well, it's funny because we've, we've been able to do teams that have gone out and won state championships out of the gsl and it's whoever gets hot at that right time of the year. And you know, prep has won a couple of titles. Central Valley has had a title. LC's had a title.

Ferris has had a title. You've seen, you know, mounts can make a run. Mead has been, you know, in there, you know, doing some battling. So teams that get hot at the end of the season. Looks like one of the players for LC is limping off the field.

That's, that's Peter Vermilia. He's looks like he's gonna be okay. All right, here they come on second down and eight. It's a pitch along the left side turning up field down around the 15 yard line. And it looks like G Prep has pulled their quarterback.

Jojo Shortell came in at qb and that's the name in orthodox. First down, they might have just pulled McKenna because here we are with what, 750 to go, a 34 point lead. It looks like they pulled a couple starters and, and looks like one of the players for LC again, a couple injuries starting to come off the field, you know, and that's just tough. You're. It's a battle of attrition and Elsie starting to pay the price.

And yep, it is short tail in a quarterback. It's a hand off of the middle to Sac Amano. He's been really good tonight. Yep, he gets up to about the 10 yard line. Call it a gain, a three, three on the play.

He's only a sophomore. I mean, you're looking at McKenna as a senior now. He's a great. He's up for player of the year and also Dalen o', Keefe, the wide receiver, but everyone else. Yep.

So if you can find it now, are you going to get a quarterback that's MVP ish. That's the question. The into three on the play. Second down and seven for G prep. They're down to the LC 13 yard line again with a 34 point lead.

They're pitching a shadow that's an option along the left side. Turning up into inside the 10 yard line is Zach Coral. Now they're really going to the second unit. He's down to the eight and that's good. I think that's fair.

And they're giving these guys, you know, a little bit of experience here because big game situations, you never know when somebody goes down. They're going right to left across your radio dial. G Prep on defense on the left side of the ball, all whites.

LC on the right side of the ball, in defense, in all blacks with orange accents. 542 to go in this one. It's all G prep, 34 to nothing. And LC takes over. On their own eight yard line is G Prep stacks the box on the right side of the ball.

They're bringing blitz. Here comes Charles Northern out of the shotgun. He pitches on the right side. This is Gents Hilburn, their best player, up to the 15 yard line. Gain five before he's taken down by the linebackers.

He's well over 100 yards rushing. He's had probably 12 tackles on defense. He's been a force on both sides of the ball. The kid has played his absolute guts out, you know. And I'll tell you.

Get 11 gents Hilbron on your football team, you win state. He's that guy. Good. Absolutely right. Call that a gain of five yards on the play.

Second down and five coming up. And if I'm a recruiter for any college out there, I'm going to recruit this young man. That's the kind of guys I want to have on my team. If I am Whitworth, I am offering him tomorrow. Can you offer?

Hilburn gain a nine yards as he put on the Jets. They did a wildcat that time and he took a shot. He just bounces right back up, looks at the sideline, gets the play and runs back and calls it. Gotta love that. He's got good speed and I like his vision.

And he's tough. Only 5 foot 10, 170, but boy, does he play with the spirit of a whole team. And he's technique, his techniques are really good. He's a great tackler on defense, he's got excellent vision on offense. He can run, he can catch, he can throw.

He did have a pick, but, you know, that's okay. LC at their own 29 yard line. Going right to left, across your radio. Second down and one coming up. Four down on the defense for G Prep.

They give back to Hilbert. He takes it left, gets around the corner and down he goes. Past the 40, 45 yard line, tripped up and taken out of bounds for a big gain, almost 15 yards. Big Demon Orthodontics. First down for Jen Silbert.

A couple of backups now. You know, in the secondary, you've got a whole new secondary for, for Gonzaga Prep. And I love the CLC. They still are going here. It's 350 to go in this game.

They got another first down and I'd really like to see them take this thing down the field, punching in, get some points here at the end of the game. They missed out on the field goal in their very first possession. Their best drive of the day. And push the ball right. Darn to call Sorensen.

So a big new Demon Orthodontics. First down. This ball's up to the 44 yard line on their own side of the 50. They're on the right side of the 50. Hilburn is back in to run out of the wild.

Here he comes. Fakes handoff, looks right. He's gonna keep it himself as he turns back upfield past the 50. He did about 20 yards of running for a gain of six. But it's still pretty good for Jen Tilburn.

Just a nice job out there getting up field and making plays. And he had Vermillion out in the flat, you know, running a little route there. And he decided not to throw it to him and just cut back against the grain and you know, picked out, picked up about 8 yards on that. I think he's closer to about 130, maybe 140 yards tonight. Rushing referees gave him a good spot.

He did fell forward. So I actually call that a gain of man, I guess Eight second down and two. I didn't think it was that far until I saw the marker. Yep, 3 minutes and 10 seconds to go as this clock continues to wind down. 34 nothing.

G Prep and LC wants to get one more touchdown in or get one touchdown in period before the end of this game. Up the middle of the go, it's Matt Harry takes a couple of those backup defenders with him. He's down to the 35 yard line for a huge gain. 14 yards. It's been hair and it's been Hillbrand.

It's been the, the H brothers there. They've done a nice job. Mr. Inside, Mr. Outside.

Brother's H. Yeah, I like that. So you know, and that's, you know, both of these guys. Unfortunately, Hare I think is a senior, if I remember correctly. So he's gonna, he's gonna move on.

Junior. No, I think he's a senior. Matt Hare, I think he's. He's a senior. You're right.

I wrote that down wrong. He owes me a dollar. That's me. That's 20. That's 100 pennies right there.

All right, new first at first and 10. After the big run from Hare, here comes Hilbert, back of the Wildcat. He's going to fake the handoff to Hilburn and feather fake the end up the hair. And Hilburn will keep it himself. Taken down by some linebackers around the sideline.

After a gain of about 6 yards, that clock will keep running 220 to go. Thing that's impressive about him too is it does. It's not one guy. It takes multiple guys to bring him down. And for a dude that's a whopping 170 pounds, you know, that's, that's some force and some movement, you know, that's the physics thing going there.

So he's got it, he's got it rolling right now. And this is the best drive. This is a great drive. Down to two minutes left in the game. Love to see LC punch this thing in.

Best drive for LC since their first drive of the game. Which frankly should have ended in a touchdown. Absolutely. Second down and three. They're on of the Wildcat again and Hilburn will keep it.

A pitch right. It's an option play. It's Tommy Mickelson. He got up to around the 25 yard line. This is going to be really close.

Right up against the chains. And they gave it to him. Damon Orthodontics. First down and Mickelson just got tripped up. If he could have kept his feet.

He slid right through two defenders. There was one guy to beat. I think he's got a great chance. He could have taken that to the house. Elsie trying to score tonight and avoid a 34 point shutout.

1 minute and 30 seconds. Seconds to go. 90 seconds and the clock ticks. They're on the 25 yard line. They've got 25 yards to go on the left side of the field and they will stick with the Wildcat Northern on the sidelines.

Hilbert in at quarterback here, next to him in the backfield. Here they come on the new first down, he rolls left, he's going to throw it down the sideline into coverage. It's hauled in, it's Joey Farris. She makes the catch of the five yard line. Nice, good job by by Farish there and a nice throw.

A little back shoulder or basically an under thrown ball if you want to be, you know, specifically correct. But the defensive back lost track of where the football was so he went over the top shoulder and the balls behind him. Great job. Lewis and Clark wants a timeout. They want to get a good play call here down from the five yard line and they want to make sure, Paul, that they, they want to get some points on the board here.

Well, Paul, this is the first time you and I have gotten to see G Prep live in person this year. Saw them in the spring.

How do they compare to your expectations? They're better than I thought. Their offense is better than I thought it was. And overall, you know, I thought it was really the, you know, the Ryan McKinnon show, to be honest. But they've got some really good dudes.

They have three good running backs. I like their wide receiver, Howland, you know, their offensive line, all juniors have been impressive. This is a really good. I knew the defense was good, but I wanted to see the, this offense and I'm impressed. I think this team can make a deep run.

So here comes LC on offense. They're down to the G Prep five yard line. First and goal from the five. They'll run the Wildcat again, gents. Hilburn, the receiver is in to take the snap, turns in, fakes a handoff.

He takes it up the middle into the teeth of the defense. He got down to the one, then pushed back. Hilburn did not get into the end zone. It's going to be second and goal from inside the one. He really wants to get into that blue paint that has bulldogs written down there in the, the east end zone there.

He really wants to score. This is going to be close. They're right up against it. 45 seconds to go. They're going to try to beat the clock and get a touchdown in.

They pitch the ball, the kids going to score second and goal from inside the one yard line on the far left side of the field. Hare is there as the halfback standing right behind Kilburn. Taking the wildcat at quarterback. He goes right behind his center. He's got it.

Good for him. Touchdown, gents. Hilburn and LC will not be shut out tonight at G Prep today. Scored with 25 seconds left so they should have done this in the first on their first drive. They would have scored a touchdown.

Would have scored here. They're, they're 34 14. Sounds a lot better than 34 7. You bet it does. Well, good for Lewis and Clark.

And I'll tell you what, although this is going to end our streak of broadcasting 3 Canadians consecutive tigers games on the radio, it's going to be a three game losing streak. I maintain this game is the soundest and best they have looked as a team. As that kick sails through it is up and good. 34 7. I agree with you.

I think you know that. I mean they've played some pretty good teams to give you high credit last week, you know, they came back and had a heck of a rally and that was, was a big win for the, for the Titans, you know. And then I'm trying to remember who they, they played three weeks ago. I can't remember. Well, can and Prep are the two best teams in the GSL right now with Central Valley kind of nipping at their heels.

So Those are your three biggies out there in the 3A 4A level. But prep is in my opinion head and shoulders better than anybody else right now. Some fans for the Lewis and Clark near side student section bleachers starting to stand up and put on their hoodies and put on their blankets and get ready to do a cold walk back to the car. But all the folks on the G Prep side of the field, including the students, they are now standing on the railing. They're ready to get down there on the field with their, with their high school classmates.

And this is an LC LC home game right now. Yeah, it is. But I'll say all is weird. The, the G Prep students have a lot to be proud of with their classmates tonight. They're about to put away a 34 to 7 win against what we think is a pretty good LC team that is significantly Becker better than they're now Newly minted or almost minted 2 and 5 record is going to show.

It's a short kick fallen on by G Prep around the 20 yard line with 24 seconds to go. So probably just a knee here for the best formation in football is the knee down or the victory formation. And any coach, any staff, when you get that, it's such a great feeling. And I give the coaching staff for prepage T. Higgins, the defensive coordinator and all the guys over there did a great job.

Nearly had a shutout. They scored with 25 seconds to go and you know, but still they're going to come out of here. They're now in undefeated. They're 6, 0. They'll continue that.

That number three ranking at the very least. And Jens Hilbrun is coming off the field and I'll tell you, that dude had one heck of a football game. He can play. I know that G Prep technically won this game in a blowout and we're not going to make him our player of the game. I think we should give him some kind of silver medal for how sensational he was tonight.

Gents, we'll give him a player of the game. We'll make it co. Yeah. Yes we can. We can agree on that.

Don't want to give it away. More importantly, Paul, you love the way that he was playing generally a lot of good blocking downfield. He did an excellent job on the stock block which which freed up several of the players. Banky and also McKinnon did a nice job. Sakamoto got around there but his blocking on the outside and the edge.

He had a couple of catches for 60 yards. He had that nice 29 yard touchdown that really I thought was was a momentum shifter for Gonzaga Prep. I thought he played very well on the outside. That's a very good choice. So our first Alliant Insurance Services player of the game is G Prep wide receiver Bo Howell.

The 6 foot 170 Junior. Paul we were so impressed with someone on LC that we broke the rules and made a call. Player of the game. We love, love, love Jen Silburn and we're not breaking the rules. We're just, we're just good players of the game.

Players on both sides, whether you win or lose deserve to get some love. And Jen Zilburn was awesome. He had 138 rushing yards. I don't know how many carries, but he had a gaggle of him. He also had a touchdown there with 25 seconds to go to get Lewis and Clark off the schneide to make it 34 7.

So he breaks the shut up. He also had 10 tackles on defense and a pass breakup. He was the guy that was down on that pass on the wheel route coming out of the backfield. So. And he returned kicks and punts.

He was all over the place. So you know, no question, that's a no brainer in my opinion. The next kick. That was really the backbreaker, but to me that was the momentum. Turner, that was a beautiful post route that he ran. He beat the coverage in one on one. McKenna threw that ball right out there, almost like he handed it to him.

And you know, that's a pretty tough thing to try to stop. Well, as the Gonzaga prep band is starting to haul their stands and their instruments back to the band room, hit G Prep and all the folks are starting to finish up, taking pictures with their friends and loved ones and sons. You think they go to band camp? Probably. That'd be kind of fun.

Yeah. Go to band camp. I bet they still. I bet it's still a thing. I used to play the clarinet till my mom and dad took it away because you didn't know I did scared the dog.

It would go in under underneath the couch because nothing would come out, but it was enough of a high pitch that it scared the animals. Maybe you needed to practice more. I wasn't very good. So they're the big money guys and we kind of just follow around and go elsewhere. But we get a chance to see Central Valley and I think that's going to be a great game because I think they're one of the top three teams and Meade's playing much better. They're starting to step up and get good and play at quarterback. They're improving on defense. I think this is going to be a whale of a football game out at Union Union Stadium.

I think most people around Spokane would, if you took a straw poll tonight, would say Gonzaga Prep number one in the GSL and then Mount Spokane right up there at number two in Mead probably, sorry, CV probably three, but Mead number four.
