Absolutely. And we are here. If you were listening to the Eastern Washington basketball game, I was kind of curious as to whether I'd make it on time and I did, with plenty of time to spare. And we are ready to roll. It's our first Arby's GSL games of the week as we have a double header for you today from the beautiful new Union Stadium in North Spokane at the corner of North Farwell and.

Or is it. What is it North Farwell? North Market. Yes. No, it can't be both.

So it's. It's north in East Farwell. That was my problem when I put it in the MapQuest. I put in his fall. Well, and it took me to Liberty University in Virginia, so.

Well, that's one of the reasons yours truly follows you on some of these trips. Or you end up in Watchtock night again. Yeah. So at any rate, we are here. This portion of the pregame show brought to you by Coast to coast turf and by Murphy Investments.

We've got the Rogers pirates coming in one and eight lay in 2019, a team that always suffers some graduation losses and Other losses that happen over the course of a year. This is a team that returns some players who made honorable mention or first team all GSL last year. They're trying to build on that. Unfortunately, in their first week it didn't work out very well for them. They lost to West Valley by the score of 55 to 6.

They were down 48 nothing at the half and Rodgers ended up losing that one 55 to 6. Shadow park on the other hand, coming in off a very impressive win. They were 5 and 5 in 2019. They jumped out to a 20 to nothing halftime lead on their way to a 2614 win over Clarkston and they looked very good in week one. So it's the one and O Highlanders of Shadow park take it on the oh and one Pirates of Rogers here in the opening game of our doubleheader at Union Stadium.

You know, it's been interesting too because this is really kind of the two way league. You have eight two way teams now in the gso. Othello is also playing in the league. You've added West Valley, East Valley. Cheney is actually a 3A team that you will see them in the second game against Mount Spokane, Pullman and Clarkston and Shadow.

North Central and Rogers are now 2A. So you know, from that standpoint, I think it's great because there's going to be opportunity now for teams that have had tough times winning, maybe getting some W's to be more competitive, to be in a situation where they're going to compete. And the two A teams that have come in are really good. So it's going to elevate the entire league. And then at the 4A 3A level you have eight teams as well, you know, you'll have 16, you know, total with the new Liberty Lake school coming in, you know, next, next fall as well.

So that's Rockland High School I think is the name of it. Or Rock Creek Ridgeline, whatever. I was thinking of Rock Creek of Blazing Saddles. So obviously I was poorly informed. Well, we're off to a flying start here.

There are GSL radio broadcast. Yeah, what do you expect? This is the quality that you get from wearing swords as you've got Rogers versus Shadow park here today. Rogers, they just, you know, they've got so many challenges they have to deal with. But when you look at this team, they've got their starting front five on offense, their center through their right tackle.

These guys are all sophomores and juniors. So this is something that if you are David Chambliss, the head Coach at Rodgers, if you can just get these gu going by the time you get to the fall, if they have a good off season, you know you can, that's, that's a pretty good building block. When you are have all your five offensive linemen returning. You can't lose three starters like they did last week, though. You've got to try to figure out a way.

And that's been something that Rodgers and all sports have had issues with, you know, on the injury front. But you're exactly right. And they also play seven players both ways. And if you've not done that, I did that in high school and even junior college. And I remember the first game going out and trying to play, you know, both ways and you're going 100%.

I barely, barely made it to halftime. So you've got to kind of pace yourself. You have to be smart in how you do that. You have to be in really good shape. And, you know, second game of the season, you're probably not at the shape that you're going to be when you're in game five or game six.

So keeping these guys healthy, allowing them to develop, building some consistency within the program, I think is really what head coach David Chambliss wants to do and really take this Rogers program and elevate it for Shadow Park. They are led by their quarterback, Ryan Schmidt, who also will play Summit wide receiver, and Logan Doyle, who starts at running back but also played some quarterback, played on defense last year for Shadl and was also their punter and was the 3, 8 GSL all purpose MVP. They have an offensive MVP, a defensive MVP and then the all purpose MVP. And that was Logan Doyle. And so they have a lot of good skill players at Shadow, but a very young offensive line and they're playing six guys both ways, you know, so they're, they're in the same boat.

It's really going to be a battle of attrition. But I like what I see and I like what Jim Mace has done. You know, that 5 and 5 campaign back in 2019, you know, you're seeing some quality here. They're doing some good stuff. He's, he's, he's consistent in how he's building this program.

And, you know, I think they're going to be, they're going to, you know, do a nice job this year and really allow them to build on things going into the fall in 2021. Central Valley Top Ferris 28 12. These are the three A4A scores. Cheney over UHI 28 to 14. And Gonzaga Prep beat Mount Spokane 10 to 7. On the two A side, it was West Valley over Rogers 55 to 6.

North Central with an impressive 24 nothing win over East Valley. Othello 34, Pullman 14. And Shadow defeated Clarkson 26 to 14 in that ball game. On the schedule for tonight, there are five games counting the nightcap here, and six games counting this game. Mead against Central Valley, Lewis and Quantic is at Gonzaga Prep.

Ferris visits U High. Mount Spokane will host Cheney here. West Valley at Othello, that'll be a big 2Amatchup. Both teams coming off great wins. And then tomorrow, East Valley at Clarkston and Pullman is at North Central.

And we get to see whether North Central's for real after that win against East Valley last week. See if they can get to 2, 0. Pullman's coming in off a loss. When's the last time North Central was 2? And, oh, and I think that's absolutely fantastic.

Great job, you know, getting that going. And I love this. You know, there's a lot more consistency and a lot more balance now, you know, in this league. And I think that's great for the kids. All right.

They've got seven players that go both ways. Lost a couple of starters last week and that's always been kind of an Achilles heel for Rodgers.

Not real deep, you know, in terms of players. So they got to keep their guys healthy. Try to establish the run, protect your quarterback. Casey Jeske, who's a captain, who's a senior, he's a really good athlete, he can throw the ball, he can run, maybe do a little zone, little trap, can't get up, you know, turnovers and you've got to stay away from penalties.

And on the defensive side, try not to give up the big play and make Shadow go length of field. If they're going to, they're going to score and you make them earn it. Don't give up cheapies and you know, try to keep things in front, rally to the football and really just develop some confidence. They're coming off a tough loss, you know, last week and you know, really weren't in that game, especially in the first half and this is a game I'd like to see them try to compete a little bit, you know, get to the second half and see what happens because they've got some athletes, you know, Larry, on this football team it's just a matter of getting them to come together, get some confidence and, and play well on the other side for Shadow park team that was 500 back in 2019.

Jim Mace is an excellent coach. He's got guys, athletes. Ryan Schmidt's really good. Logan Doyle's a stud. They've got guys, playmakers that can make plays and really do some things.

So they're going to try to, you know, run a little bunch set physically, try to be physical at the line of attack, try to run over maybe, maybe Rodgers. I think defensively Rogers is pretty big up front but offensive, offensively they're gonna have a tough time I think stopping the Shadow park defense and Shadow just wants to do what Shadow does and that's what Ryan Schmidt run the football pass the football. Had one touchdown last week, running it, one touchdown, throwing it and he's a guy that can really make some things happen. I think this is going to be a good football game and hopefully Rodgers will be able to pick some things up and make it competitive. Rogers has a 40 man roster.

20% of that roster is out already in week number two for this ball game. So that means they will be having 32 people in uniform for this game. Shadl doesn't a particularly big deep roster either. They don't have 100 people that's why you're you're running around with two A schools instead of three A schools. I'm Larry Weir. All right, Rogers is going to kick off to start this game. They fell behind 27 nothing in the first quarter last week, so. So one possession at a time. Get out there, get you a stop, see if you can get some field possession and see what happens.

You know, really one play at a time. I mean, you kind of have to take it that way and, you know, just kind of focus on what's going on in front of you. You know, you got to build that momentum, try to go one series, try to go, you know, one drive, all of that kind of stuff and. And try to stay healthy and just, you know, limit the big plays. Don't hurt yourself with penalties or definitely turnovers on offense and.

And give yourself a chance. And I think that's what they. They pulled out last week. We talked to the coaches, you know, before the game, and, you know, these guys do a great job. I mean, they've got a positive attitude.

They're out there working hard to try to make things happen. And these kids want to play well. They want to go out and win, you know, just like everybody else. So you just got to give yourself a chance to do that, and I think that's what they're going to try to do here. All right, so the starting lineups have been introduced.

There is no crowd. There are the cheerleaders here, the shadow cheerleaders over across the way. They're the visiting team here today. The Rodgers cheerleaders are down below us. Rogers will be the home team.

Purple jerseys, gold numerals, purple pants and looks like purple helmets. Schadl will be in white jerseys with green numerals, green pants and bright yellow helmets, neon yellow helmets. They also are going to social distance, where basically they're going to go end line to end line and try to, you know, keep some distance between everybody, which, as a coach, that's kind of a pain because, you know, you need to get number 17 in, and he's 25 yards away.

So you have to do a good job of communicating on the sidelines, especially if somebody needs to go in. Quick substitutions, you know, special teams filling in, whatever it happens to be. All right, so we have. I see a couple of fans down in the parking lot in the back of a pickup truck to try to watch this one. If they're.

Hope you folks are listening to the radio. I heard some creative stuff at Prep between Prep and lc, and they brought in those lifts. So they put the lifts in the outside, the stadium area and they lifted them up. So there's like four lifts where they're going to be able to kind of watch the game. And you know, it's just disappointing that the families and, you know, parents and relatives can't come in.

You can't tell me you can't. Social distance in a stadium that sees 3,500 to 4,000 people and you're going to get 100. It's ridiculous. And so right now there are state limits on outdoor gatherings. Up to 200 people.

Is it? And so that includes the participants on the field and those of us here in the press box and everything else. So that's about 200. Yeah, that fills up the number. Yep.

Your officials on the field, by the way. The referee is Rick Watkins, Tom Peterson's the umpire, line judge Barry Huck, headlinesman is Chuck Latimer and the back judge is Ron Schaefer. At 425 degrees with the ball on the tee is Isaac Sweeney, senior kicker for Rogers. Back deep to receive. Ryan Schmidt is back there. Logan Doyle, I believe is back there. And there's the boot downfield.

Good kick. End over and it'll be Schmidt from the seven yard line up the middle of the field of the 15 to the 20, over the 25 to the 30. Has a seam across the 35, outruns a tackler. 40, 45, 50 up the left sidelines. 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5.

It's a touchdown. Ryan Schmidt, the game's opening kickoff. The quarterback runs it back 93 yards and just like that, 16 seconds is what it took for him to go those 93 yards plus running from the right hash to the left sidelines. And Shadow park draws first blood. Great job that time, blocking.

On special teams, they had a little wedge formation right up the middle. You know, Rodgers stayed in their lane, but a couple of really good blocks sprung Schmidt and he used his speed and kind of serpentine up to the left side. Ran right down in front of the bench and was able to outrun the safety guy and step in there. Well, that was quick. One play, one kickoff, one touch.

Andrew Jensen on to try the point. After touchdown, Schmidt is the holder. There's the snap back, the ball is spotted. The kick is a line drive, but it is over the crossbar and that's all it takes. Let's go ahead and take a timeout here.

Tyson Moore as that was a free ball and so Rogers will take over at their own 24 yard line. Heads up play by Tyson the senior.

You're right Larry. That kind of kicked and went backwards and could have been a great opportunity for Shadl to recover that thing because it was just a one of those point first bounces. Instead of bouncing towards the end zone it bounced the other direction and could have been bad news for Rodgers but they were able to recover it. So pirates of their own 24, first down and 10. They've got one receiver split to the left side.

That's Anthony Deerfield and three men go wide to the right. Jeske the quarterback under center, running back behind him in the back backfield and on first down Jeske will throw but pressure is on and he's going to be dropped back at about the 21 or 2 yard line. This was the problem last week and it continues to be the problem here in this ball game. Ryan Rose was in there among others for Shadow. Well both Town the middle linebacker and Doyle the middle linebacker both blitz the A gap and really you got the center has to Pick one guy.

There was really no place to go. They just kind of all out blitzed it and makes it really tough. And you're right, that was the tough part last week. They just couldn't protect their quarterback and you know, Jeske was under pressure the entire game. Loss of two on the play.

Second and 12 now for the Pirates. Jeske is under center. Two tight ends, a wide receiver to either side. Jesky takes the snap, fades back, hands it off. Tyson Moore has a little seam, gets across the 25 and gets out near the 29 yard line for a pickup of about 7 yards on first down.

So Moore with a good run there. Just a little ISO play. Little, little block between the center and the guard. Actually where that last blitz came, the, you know, caused Jeske to lose some yards. But a nice job that time blocking created a hole there and a good.

More a good run by Moore getting up field and he carried a couple guys a couple yards. A nice job. Like to see that more often given. Six yards to the 28. So third and six now for Rogers.

An offset eye in the backfield with a fullback offset to the left. One wide receiver to either side. Jeske under center. Blitz coming. Movement up front.

Flags are down and that should be a offside on Shadow Park. You can't draw the offense to move. And one of the shadow defenders tried to time the snap, couldn't do it. And I think that caused Rogers to move, but that shouldn't. Yep, offside Shadow.

Yep. I was hoping that's what they would call there. Well, that was a neutral zone violation. You're exactly right. And it caused the offense to react to it and you know, five yard penalty.

So I think it's still third one third and short. So good job. Good point break for Rogers here and I would not be surprised to see Shadow park try to do that. A gap blitz again. Third down in a yard and we'll see what they elect to do here.

With a straight eye now in the backfield. And now motion coming in from the left side. Jeske under center and the right. The tight end on the right side moves or is that a tackle? That's the tackle on the right side that moves.

And so they just gave the five yards right back, back. Oops. It's a lot easier at third and a foot as opposed to third and five and a half. So that's too bad. And.

And if they start bringing blitz to Shadow park, let's see if Rogers gets outside and try to maybe take advantage of that. If they're Selling out to try to stop the run, you know, between tackle and tackle, you can attack them a little bit on the outside. 10 minutes to play. First quarter, seven nothing. Shadow park early on.

Now split backs in the backfield behind Jeske and three receivers, two of them split to the right side. Ball in the center of the field. Jeske accepts the snap, fades back to pass quickly to the right side. And the pass through the hands of the intended receiver, incomplete. As that was looking for Skyri Robinson, but it went through his hands.

And so it'll be fourth down and it looks like a punt probably coming for Rodgers. Sky Reeves only five, six. That wasn't a bad throw. Just a little bit high and kind of a little bit behind him. If he could have gone up and maybe slowed down a little bit, I think he was drifting a little bit to the insides.

So, you know, that's tough when you hit a guy. It's a little bit, you know, smaller in terms of stature. You've got to get that ball down. Elijah Bellegarde goes to the left side and they're going for it on 4th and 6 at their own 28 yard line. Jesky under center, takes the snap, fades back, has time, looks to the left side lines, throws, has the catch at the 39 yard line.

That's Belgard and that's good for a first down run. Out of bounds by Doyle and Schmidt, but a nice pass that time by Jeske up to the 38 yard line, gain a 10. You know, excellent job there and I like the fact that for kind of on fourth down, you know, inside their 30 yard line and that shows confidence. Good job. Way to go.

David Chambliss head coach and offensive coordinator doing a nice job of going running a little core route. He knew right where the first down marker was turned around, gave himself a couple yards. Good throw by the quarterback right on the button. That was our Damon Orthodontics first down play for Rogers. Now they go again out of the offset eye with one wide receiver to either side.

Jeske under center in the left tackle moves this time for Rodgers and they just. You can't afford a bunch of mistakes when you're in Rodgers situation. And they've been guilty of two false starts already. Sometimes, especially when you have injuries. They lost a couple of linemen last week.

You got some new guys in there that are playing, but you know the snap count, you know it's on one or two or hot or first sound, whatever it happens to be, that's an advantage. The defense has to react to seeing the ball snap, you know what it is. Hold your water and give your team a chance. So first and 15 now for the Pirates. One receiver to either side again.

Chesky under center, takes the snap, hands it off. Moore off the left side, has a little room to the outside, breaks one tackle. Flag is down. We may get a face mask or a horse collar as Moore gets up to the 39 yard line. That's going to be a run of about, well close to first down.

Well, no, they, they got the five yards back. They lost plus one it looks like. But there should be more added onto this. I would say think. Yeah, I think it's either a horse collar, a face mask.

That's a 15 yard penalty. That's a personal foul. And they're going to get a first down, you know, on that penalty. After the run and a good job of getting outside, pretty good blocking. The left tackle missed the D end.

If he would have been able to seal that, that would have been a heck of a, of a nice run there. And the coaching staffer, Rodgers was up coaching up that young man saying, hey, just hold your block, seal him inside. That will give our offense much better chance. But this will be a nice first down for Rogers. Good drive them on their first possession.

And so 15 yards will be added to the end of this play and that'll take it to the shadow 46 yard line. First down and 10. This is really a confidence builder, Larry, for, you know, for Rogers are getting their confidence. They're putting some plays together. They've had a couple of mistakes already with the penalties, but they're, they're coming back and they're overcoming that adversity.

Nice job. Shadow on top seven nothing. They returned the game's opening kickoff for a touchdown. I've tandem in the backfield. Jeske under center, takes the snap, hands it off into the middle goes Moore, dodges one man, crosses the 45.

He might get forward. Progress to the 44 and a good job by the shadow defense to stop in there. Gain of a couple of yards on the play. In on the stop was Hawkeye day for Shadow Park. Boy, Shadow Park's doing a nice job defensively.

They're, they're getting pressure and they're getting up field and you know, kind of creating some, some issues on the other side of the line of scrimmage. So the offensive line for Rogers, if they can figure out how to kind of seal that on the inside, they're gonna have some running room on the outside and I think can be able to throw on the outside as well. Second down and eight for the Pirates. Ball on the left. Hash at the shadow 44.

They've got Bellegarde out to the left side. Two men wide to the right. Jeske under center, split backs behind him in the backfield. Moore to the left and the formation back to throw it as Jeske has time deep. Ball over the middle and the pass incomplete, overthrown intended down there for his receiver.

Once again, Robinson and the ball overthrown. And that one, if you put a little bit of air under it and let him run into that one, you've got a chance. Robertson's got some. He was actually pulling away from the defensive back who actually reached out and grabbed him a little bit. I thought could have been a little bit of a PI, but I guess it was on the inside.

Couldn't really see it, but it slowed him down just enough. But you're right. And that's. That's the experience thing. A little bit more air underneath.

Chance for your receiver who's breaking free late to break out and make a play. Could have been a huge play for Rogers. So third and eight for the Pirates with the shadow 44. Four wide receivers, two to either side. Again, Jesky under center.

He starts motion. That's Moore, the running back who split out as the receiver to the right side. And they will fake a handoff. Jesky under pressure, will run out to the right side. He is going to keep the ball.

He's inside the 40. I'll be a little short of a first down. Officials look like they'll put him right around the 39. That's going to be a gain of about five yards. They'll bring up fourth and three, but if they went for it their own 20 something, they're going to go for it here.

Absolutely. They've got nothing to lose. Why punt the ball? Most likely you're going to punt it into the end zone, so give yourself a shot here. And they converted on the last fourth down there, one for one.

Let's see him make it two for two. We've got eight minutes remaining to play. First quarter, seven nothing. Shadow park on top here. Fourth down and three for the Pirates at the roger at the shadow 39 yard line line.

They've got one receiver split to either side and a couple of tight ends in there. And they've got a fullback in the backfield. Jesky under center. Motion coming in from the left side. Blitz coming up the middle for Shadle.

There's a handoff. Moore trying to get outside. He does inside the 35 and a nice form tackle there by Ryan Schmidt to bring him down at the 34. But that's two yards too late. Five yard gain and a first down.

But what Schmidt did was save a touchdown. He does make the tackle more. Scores. Yeah, and he did a great job of squaring up. That's not easy to do in the open field like that.

Doing a great job. He broke down, read the belly button, put his helmet and shoulder pad right across the the waist area and wrapped up and threw him down. But that was a good play because Moore bounced it. They were blitzing again right up the middle and he bounced it outside and that's what allowed him to pick up the first down. Moore unofficially.

Four carries, 19 yards in this ball game. So here we go, first and 10. Rogers at the shadow 30. And they will hand it off. Running to the left side and nothing doing there.

Nice defensive play by Trieson Town as the back. Carlos Matthews got hit in the backfield for a loss of three. Well, that play, it looked like it was. There was some miscommunication between center and quarterback because basically the offensive line was still in their stance when that ball was snapped. I think the center snapped it too early.

So there was nobody blocking the linemen because they shot across the line of scrimmage. And that poor running back had no chance. He just saw walla yellow and green and that was not a good sign for him. So second down and 13 now for Rogers. They have it on the left hash at the shadow 37.

One receiver to either side. They start motion in from the right side and now going back, away goes that receiver. Anthony Deerfield and Jeski will hand it off. Matthews off the right side might have gotten a yard or two. We'll see as officials will give him forward progress to the 36 for a gain of 1.

But Schadl was all over that play. They had a bunch of guys in there on that tackle and the last guy up off the pile looked like Kenny Hutchinson. Well, shadows, Rogers has been attacking between the tackles and basically Schadl is bringing everybody. They're bringing both inside linebackers, they're bringing their safety up. That setups play action pass.

You've got third down here. Might be a good time to try to throw the ball a little bit to, you know, maybe get outside. But if they can, they can seal it off and give their quarterback an opportunity. Jet Ski a chance to throw. He's athletic enough to make plays.

This has been better than a six minute drive for Rogers. Yeah, they have it third and 12 at the shadow 36. One receiver to either side, offset eye on the backfield. He's got to move off. There you go.

And they're running out of time. They just do get the playoff. And Jeske will throw a screen back and the ball is off the hands of the receiver Danny Robinson. Rupp. And so it'll be fourth down and 12.

That would have been interesting to see how that play would have turned out had that been a completed pass. Well, Rupp was still kind of going up field the balls a little bit behind him. It looks like we're going to take a timeout. Rogers is and they're going to talk about it here at fourth and about 11 and a half, maybe 12 yards. Let's take the timeout.

Anthony Deerfield caught it but he was tackled immediately. And so that'll be fourth down, turnover on downs by Rodgers and Shadow park will get the ball back at their own 37. Nice play that time by Matt Torrell for Shadow Park. You know, kind of a defensive end, linebacker type. Came up, saw the that and broke on the ball really quickly.

By the time the receiver caught the ball, he was right there, made the tackle. Nice job, good recognition and they threw that to the tight side of the field so you don't have to run as far to make the play. So schedule gets the ball back. They start at their own 37. This is their first offensive play of the game.

And we have 512 remaining to play in the first quarter. Of course, they returned the opening kick for a touchdown. They've got Logan Doyle who's confused as to where to line up here. And schedule is going to have to take a timeout now as Doyle was confused as to where he needed to be lined up there on that play. He thought he was supposed to be a receiver in the slot and Ryan Schmidt thought he was supposed to be a running back.

And so away we go, Shadow Park. Doyle is supposed to be in the slot here. Five wide receivers, two to the right, three to the left. And now they break off of that and bring everybody in tight. Doyle now shifts to a running back behind Schmidt, the quarterback.

They go out of the pistol and they will run it off the right side. Doyle, not much doing off the right side. Nice job by the Rodgers defense. Down at the bottom of the pile, Tyler Searles, a 200 pound sophomore to bring him down. No gain.

Serials used some good quickness that time and just kind of shot past the offensive line there into the backfield. Doyle was waiting for some blocks to set up and he just went right, right at, you know, lower part of the body and was able to knock him down. Good play. Very heads up play. Good quickness by him.

No gain on the play. Second and ten now for the Highlanders. Again, everybody in tight. They have the pistol in the formation once again with Doyle only a yard behind the quarterback. Schmidt.

And they fake a pitch and now hand it back and a little delay. Doyle off the right side, breaks one tackle and be Pushed out of bounds up at about the 44 yard line by his counterpart, the running back for Rogers, Tyson Moore. But again to the 43, pick up a set of six yards. I think Doyle and Moore are going to meet an awful lot in this football game on both sides of the ball. And again you've got seven starters on Rogers playing both ways.

You have six for Ship. So it's kind of ironman football. I like it. Kind of old school here. These guys are getting after it and having to play both ways.

So third down for Shadle. Third and four at their own 43. They need to take it almost to the 47 yard line. Empty backfield, five wide receivers, ball on the right. Hashmidt, the quarterback claps his hands, takes the snap, runs off the left side over the 45.

First down breaks a tackle over the 50, down to the 45 and gets to the 44 of the Rogers Pirates for a Damon Orthodontics. First down and a pick 12 yards. Well, he sure Schmidt has really shown that he's got some good wheels. Taking the kickoff back for a touchdown. But that time he broke a couple of tackles so that you know the line of scrimmage kept the legs running and really did a nice job of moving that ball up field.

Getting the first down and getting into Rogers territory. Actually 13 yards down to the Rogers 44. So first down and 10 for the Pirate. For the Highlanders at the Pirate 44. Again an empty backfield with five wide receivers.

Three left, two right, ball close to the center of the field. Here's the snap and a quick throw out to the left side. Town has it across the 45 to the 40 and he has taken off his feet as he gets down to about the 39 yard line as it looked like Anthony Deerfield was over there to bring him down. After a gain of about 5. Little bubble screen out there for Shadow Park.

Good blocking by the other two receivers to give him a shot. He just flailed back into the into the backfield. That ball was right in his hands. Got him upfield. Nice job.

A good pursuit by Rogers on defense to limit that play. 2nd and 5 Highlanders, ball on the left. Hash, they go out of the pistol. Three receivers to the short side of the field, the left side. One man to the wide side right.

Schmidt will hand it off this. He is Doyle off the left. He will be all close to a first down and might have it as he struggles Forward to the 34 yard line. Looks like a pick up of five yards and we'll see whether that's a first down. Looks like it is.

You know, good vision by Doyle. Larry. I like the way he runs because that ball was supposed to go. He was supposed to run between guard and tackle. And Rogers did a nice job of locking up that hole on the inside.

He just bounced it outside the end there and was able to break a tackle and, and pick up that first down. Nice run all the way down to the 34 inside of three minutes to go here in the first quarter. Seven nothing, Shadow Park. We're at 250 remaining to play in quarter number one ball on the left hash. First down and 10 at the Pirate 31st.

Three receivers and a bunch set tight to the formation. To the left side. One man wide to the right. That's Liam Johnston and he's going to get the throwing attempt and he's open and he's got it at the five. And his tackle just short of the end zone by Moore.

Down at about the one or the two yard line. It'll be first down goal to go for Shadow Park. Nice job by Liam Johnson. He ran a little post seam route and pretty good coverage out there, but that ball was thrown over his outside shoulder. The Rodgers defensive back was on the inside playing, man, actually pretty good coverage.

I think thought that was just a very, you know, nice throw by Schmidt and laid that out there perfectly for his receiver. So first down, goal to go as they have it at the one yard line. Schmidt the quarterback out of the pistol formation. Everybody in tight and Doyle the running back behind him. Schmidt takes the snap, hands it to Doyle up the middle.

He burrows and I don't think he's in. Good job by the Rogers defense. And so it'll be second down and goal from short of the. Well, it put him right back at the one yard line. When you play goal line defense like Rogers is playing, you want to kind of build a wall.

So they get low and they try to, you know, get some penetration and move that line of scrimmage backwards there. They did a really good job in that. Doyle had no place to run because it was pretty much a wall. Set up by that front by Roger. So nice play.

Good job on defense in the goal line situation. Let's give credit to the Cyrils, Jordan and Tyler. They were in there on that tackle. Second down and goal now from the one again out of the pistol. Schmidt takes the shotgun snap and rolls now to the left side.

Run pass option. He will throw back at the end zone. High, incomplete, overthrown. So now it'll be third down and Goal from the one yard line. Intended receiver there was Martin.

Simeon. Simeon. And he had Owen Burgos, number one, wide open in the flat. He decided to try to go towards the deeper towards the pylon in the back. He was open as well, but he just overthrew him.

He just put a little bit too much air on that when he rolled out to the left side. But he could have gone short or long. Either one. Both those guys were open. Semionoff.

Simeon. Semionov, I think. Nice. Good job. Well, I don't know that for sure.

That's a guess, but that's my guess. All right, two receivers split to the left side on third and goal from the one. Two receivers also to the right, pistol formation, trying to spread him out here in the middle of the field. Now Schmidt walks up under center and the left side and the right guard both move. The left and the right guard both move here.

And that's gonna cost him five yards. So now it's gonna be third and goal from the six. You always talk about hustle and, you know, defensive players making plays. And even though the defensive back got beat, he didn't give up the touchdown. He tackled the Shadow receiver on the one yard line.

And Shadl has had a tough time here. You know, this is third down now. The ball's back on the six. And this defense has played well. And that's why coaches always talk about effort making plays.

And no matter what, even if you're beat, tackle the guy. Because you never know when your defense steps up and makes a play. And right now in this series, that's what Rogers defense is doing. 127 to play. First quarter, seven nothing.

Shadow park on top. They returned the game's opening kickoff for a touchdown. Again, the pistol formation. 4 wide receivers, 3 split. Left ball on the right hash.

Now motion out of the backfield to the left by Dord. And a throw to the right on a slant off the hands of Johnson. Incomplete. Trying to just make that quick, quick slant across the face of Moore. He was open, but the ball was high.

So it's fourth down and goal. And a great job by Moore again because he jumped that route. He slid underneath. He made Schmidt, you know, throw that ball a little bit higher and it was just too high. And outside is now I think Shadow's gonna go for it here and not kick a field goal.

I like this. You know, both teams are going for it on fourth down. Gotta like that. So three receivers split to the left. Johnson wide to the right.

One on one coverage with Moore Their pistol formation with Schmidt the quarterback. He's two out of four so far for 38 yards. Unofficially, again, Doyle in motion off to the left and they will swing it to him on a little screen out there. Caught it inside the 10. He's to the five and got to the corner and into the end zone.

It's a fourth down touchdown from Ryan Schmidt to Logan Doyle. A six yard passing touchdown and the Highlanders are out to a 13 nothing win. Great job that time. And that play was made by the wide receivers. Three of them out there blocking.

Doyle came out of the backfield, just a little flare route. Schmidt hit him right in the chest and he was able to run it in from six yards. Play was made because wide receivers were blocking one on one. It gave him a chance to get to the pilot. Andrew Jensen didn't get much over the upright, but he did last time around.

And Schadl is missing a man. And they're gonna get hit with a penalty here, I think here's the pat. It is up and it is good. But they only had 10 men on the field. They had one guy running out onto the field as the kick was being made.

And so that's going to be a five yard penalty. But I believe that one had a little better leg on it. Maybe he stubbed his toe in the first one. This was more of an indication of his leg strength. That was pretty good.

Officials are talking it over. He had a motion penalty. If he's still. If, if he wasn't set. Exactly.

That's already the fourth penalty on Shadow park for 30 yards. Well, you know Jim Mace is not going to be happy about that. That's something. It's early in the season, both teams. Usually you talk to coaches and they say biggest improvement from game one to game two.

Well, you've got to do that on the penalty side as well. You got to cut those down. So they'll try a 25 yard attempt now with 116 left here in the quarter. Here's the snap, the spot, the kick that had good leg on it and but he is wide to the left. Actually might have hit the upright, I'm not sure.

And so the point after is no good. And it's shadow 13, Rogers nothing with a minute 16 remaining to play here in quarter number one. I mean, they made Shadow, you know, really kind of earn that thing and, and I'm seeing a lot of improvement from Rodgers and I also like the fortitude by Schadl for, for making it happen. On fourth down. Here's a line drive kickoff downfield. It'll be fielded about the 13 yard line. Run back comes up over the 20, running laterally over to the left side, getting to the 30.

Here's the return man, Deerfield out over the 30 to the 33 or thereabouts. And so that's going to be a first down and 10 situation for Roger Spence. Fox was in on the tackle for the Shadow Park Highlanders. Nice job by Deerfield, one of those players that goes both ways. Plays wide receiver and also defensive back and returns kick.

And you know he's coming out here. Did a nice job of going from left to right there. Just couldn't get enough angle to get up field and pursuit finally knocked him down. So let's see if Rogers can put together another nice drive. They didn't get anything out of the first one, but they moved the football and they kept it for about half or a little more than half of the first quarter of play here.

Kept possession of it, we should say. First down and 10. Pirates, they've got Belgard splitting to the left side and two men are wide to the right. Here you've got Robinson and Deerfield, I believe, out to the right side. And again, a false start by Rogers.

They've been guilty of three penalties so far and they've all been false starts. Yeah, that was Tyson Moore that time. And you could tell the primary receivers he was ready to go. I always watch film because you could, you can watch on film, especially in high school school, you get the guys, you know that they're primary receivers, they really hustle off the line of scrimmage and the guys that are not kind of lollygag it, well, he was fired up, unfortunately he jumped it before they snapped the football.

So it's interesting because you can tell watching film most of the time we can pick out who the primary guy is. Bellegarde split to the left, two men are wide to the right here and two backs in the backfield. And now Moore shifts up to be a slot out to the right so. And Jeske will go back to pass with no fake fire short. And Moore has that ball separated from his body by Trison Towne.

A good hit right in his back and the ball popped out. Pass incomplete. Great job by Town that time because he reached in 175 pound junior got his arm across, was able to get there right when the ball got there and just punched it out or that was the completion and they were just running a little curl route.

Would have been about a 7, 8 yard game but just a good defensive play by Town to rip that ball out. That's a PBU a pass broken up. Second down 15 now for the Pirates ball on the left hash at their own 28. They'll have Robinson out to the left side, one man wide to the right here and an eye formation in the backfield. Motion coming from Robinson toward the formation to the right and they will hand it off.

Moore jitterbugs into the middle and gets to about the 30 yard line for a gain of a couple of yards. Logan Doyle was in there on the stop, so a short gain of two. It'll bring up third and long. There's Doyle and Moore meeting again and I like the way Moore hits that hole. He doesn't lollygag.

He gets up there, plants that foot and he's going full speed by the time he gets to the line of scrimmage. An offensive lineman like that because you don't have to hold your block very long. So that was just a good job. But again those linebackers for shadow. Both Town and Doyle are doing a nice job of filling those gaps.

So we'll see what Rodgers has here. This might be the last play of the quarter. We'll see third down and 13 for the Pirates at their own 30 yard line. Motion out of the backfield to the right side and Jesky will throw with no fake four man rush. He will now run.

He's over the 35 and will slide down at about the 36 yard line. So that'll be well short of a first down. He's going to gain six yards. So fourth down and seven here for the Pirates at their own 36. Jesky Anderson, he's got three receivers split to the right, one man wide to the left and he will go back to throw with no fake pressure coming. He will run out to the right side being pursued. He is hit from behind by Doyle, fumbled the ball and Shadow Park. Nope.

I well it's not going to matter. It's going to be Shadow Park's ball anyway. Here it rolls back around the 25 yard line. Regardless who comes up with this Shadl or or Rogers Rodgers ended up recovering it but that's going to be a loss of 12 yards and it'll be Shadow Ball following the the recovery at the 26 yard line. And again that's Doyle doing his thing, blitzing right up the middle.

And. And it's making it tough on this offensive line because they're bringing both inside linebackers and. And the defensive line at the same time, so they're overwhelming Rogers up front. They got more guys to block than they can handle. And that was just a great play.

Showing excellent speed. Came from behind and ripped that ball out. Let's see how Schadl attacks here. On first down and 10 at the Rogers 26 from the left hand, Schmidt, the quarterback, will throw it out to the right side off the hands of his receiver. Incomplete.

Looking for Spencer Fox out there. And the pass a little high, and behind him, it'll be second and 10. That could have been a lateral. That was close to being a backwards pass. And even though he deflected it, if the official on that side steps back, you know, and sees that behind the line, that's a lateral.

That's a live ball, and that's something Rogers could recover. Two receivers to either side on second and 10. Sun right into the face of Shadow Park. Moving from right to left or from east to west. Here in front of us, here's a handoff.

Bouncing outside to the right side, getting hit and stopped. Right at about the line of scrimmage is the running back Beckett, Ensminger, and Rogers doing a nice job defensively there on the stop. And so it'll be second down, third down, and long right now. Shadow is not moving. They've got a couple of big kids in the middle for Rogers, and they're not moving them off the line of scrimmage.

They're having a tough time finding some holes between the tackles. So kudos to this defensive line for Rogers. They're playing well. So third down and 10, three receivers go left. One man wide to the right out of the pistol.

Schmidt accepts the snap and flags below. This play. Ditch totally playing on the play. And I'm guessing that's a false start again on Schadl. Yep.

That's already their fifth penalty, unofficially, for 35 yards. Well, you know, head coaches, they always look for things to coach guys up, and you can't tell me that Jim Mace is happy with that right now, and that's something. He'll talk to his kids at halftime, and they'll try to correct that. And that's the thing that drives you nuts offensively. You know what the snap count is?

You've got to figure that out. And, you know, if it's defense, it's a different story. You're trying to make plays offensively, that's just. That's discipline. You got to do both better job.

So third down and 15 now for Shadl back at the Rogers 31 again. Four wide receivers, three to the left, ball near the center of the field. Schmidt no fake, looks over the middle, throws man open and went through the hands of Doyle, who was looking to run with it before he caught it at the 20. He was smelling the end zone and he may have scored on that one. He just didn't look it in.

You think he took a little peek? I think he took a big peek. I think he did. I think he was going, okay, this is going to be good. I just have to avoid that safety.

But I can outrun him. I got the angle. Wait a minute. I got to catch the football first. So fourth down and 15 now for Schadl at the Rogers 31.

Three receivers split to the left, one man wide to the right. Doyle is a slot receiver and Inspinger the running back out in motion to the left. They pump fake to him. Pressure coming on the screen. Doyle at the 30, 25, 20, breaks a tackle 15, 10.

He's to the 5 and is finally tackling a touchdown saving tap on tackle by Tyson Moore. But that's down to the four yard line. That's a pickup at 27 yards and a shadow. First down, actually. I really like that call.

That was a great job by the offense to come back. They let kind of a jailbreak screen. They let everybody come through. The offensive line slid down. Doyle caught that ball behind the line of scrimmage.

That's why the offensive line can be downfield like that. They just did a great job of creating space. Doyle found right behind him and an excellent defensive play to knock him down and save a touchdown. 10:34 remaining to play here in the second quarter of play. And now an empty backfield.

And Schmidt fakes the pass and will run. And he takes it right up the middle for a touchdown. Ryan Schmidt fakes a pass out to the right side and took off running up the middle. And I don't know whether that was designed or not, if it wasn't designed. He did a great job to recognize what was happening.

And there was no but they were bringing Pete pleasure off the defensive left and he took off to his left. Well, I think he saw. I don't think the receiver was ready for the football. He went to throw it to the outside, but his head wasn't turned, so he pulled it down. And then he saw that he had a seam right up the middle.

They're going to go for two here after missing the extra point. But yeah, that was a heads up play by Schmidt and so Schmidt will take the snap handed off in Sminger off the right side. He will run it in for the two point conversion and we'll take a timeout. 10:18 Remains to play second quarter at Shadow Park 21 Rogers Nothing on the Arby's GSL Game of the week on 700 ESP and 105. 3 FM.

Good. Here's a kickoff downfield. This is going to bounce it about the 17 back to the 15 where it's grabbed there over the 25. I think this Deerfield, he'll get close to the 30 yard line before he's knocked off his feet by Gunner Holmes, a senior. And so Rodgers will start close to their own 30 here.

You know Rodgers, if they can continue to kind of create some drives, take some shots, you know they're doing a nice job on time of possession. They're moving the football. They're just not having any, any opportunity to score and that's something. They've got to put the ball in the end zone here. They've got to kind of slow down Schadl who's bounced out to a three touchdown lead here and this would be a good time for them to put together a drive.

10, 13 to go here in the second quarter. Ball on the right hash mark. They will have two receivers splitting to the right side and One man wide to the left here. Offset eye in the backfield behind Jesky, who's under center. Jeske takes the snap, hands it off, running to the right side.

This is Matthews field. Might have struggled forward for a yard on the play. We'll see Owen Burgos, he scored a touchdown defensively last week for Shadow park and the win against Clark. He made the tackle. No gain on the play.

Burgos has done a nice job. Very good athlete. Doing a good job of getting up fuel that time. They just use the sideline as an extra defender and pursuit. Was it finally able to.

To kind of knock him down really? It looks like he didn't get a. He didn't gain anything. It's still second and 10. Absolutely.

Second down and 10 from their own 30 yard line. Ball on the right hash. They will send two receivers, Deerfield and Robinson, to the right side. And one man, I believe that's Belgard wide to the the left. Robinson in motion toward the formation now back away.

Jeske takes the snap, hands it off. And running off the left side now is Matthews and he'll drive his way out to the 34 yard line for a gain of about four yards before he is knocked off his feet. Tries in town over there, among others on the stop. So it'll be third and six, little isolation play to the left side of the field, to the left side of the the offense there. Good, good drive blocking by by Rodgers and a nice job by the running back to kind of create some space, pick up some positive Y yards, keep that clock going and give yourself a manageable third down here.

Matthew, short of the 35, it'll be third down and a long five or a short six. However you want to look at it, it's between the 34 and 35 yard lines. Four receivers, three to the left, ball near the center of the field. Jeske under center will fade back to pass. He's got time.

Throw short diving catch. Is that made? It is, but short of first down at the 39 yard line. Nice catch by Carlos Matthews who makes the style, makes the grab. But they're a yard short of a first down.

Yeah, but they've been going for it on fourth down. Doesn't matter if it's fourth and 13 or fourth and six. Fourth and one and a half. You know they can do this and they've done a nice job of creating some space. I think you're going to see shadow blitz with both the inside backers and if that's the case, maybe get outside, give yourself a Chance go off tackle or off the tight end, you're going to have some space there to run.

So the gain to the 39, it's fourth down and one from the right. Hashtag now. And it's a sneak by Jeske and he's gonna have it to about the 41 yard line for a gain of a couple of yards. And a Damon Orthodontics first down run for. Well, they give him just across the 40.

We'll still call it 2 yards statistically because it's across the 40 but short of the 41. That was smart by the quarterback because he came up, he saw there's a little gap between the center and guard and he came up, tapped the center right on the butt, got the football and went, didn't waste any time. And that's what you want to do. You want to catch the defense napping a little, little bit. They weren't set.

That was just a great play. Good heads up play by the quarterback to see that seam and get that first down ball just across their own 40 for Rogers. First down and 10. Three receivers, one to the right, two to the left here. Ball on the left hash the true eye in the formation.

They have motion coming through off to the right side. And Jesky on first down will fake the handoff, roll to the right. Is he going to keep it or is he going to throw it? And he's going to throw it. And he's got catch across the 50, breaking one tackle, running laterally to the left, getting across the 45.

First down play down to the 43 yard line. That's Anthony Deerfield. And a nice play. And another first down. That's a pickup of 16 yards.

That's a big play and that was just a good job. And let's give credit where credit is due. Jeske that time basically baited that linebacker who came off coverage and. And Deerfield just turned around, he waited till the last, flipped the ball out there, made a nice run. Very good heads up play on that situation there between quarterback and receiver.

So first down and 10, Rogers at the shadow 43. It's 21 nothing, shadow park on top. 705 remaining to play. Clock running here in the first half. Matthews the lone setback, two receivers to either side.

Jeske under center, takes the snap, hands it off and dropping the ball is Matthews. And it's loose. Who's got it? Shadl Parks. Go.

Got it back across midfield. Matthews just dropped the ball. He had it for a moment and just fell out of his hands somehow. Rogan Burgos recovers at the 47 yard line of Rogers. That's an unfortunate turnover.

Yeah, those are the things we talked about a couple things in the pregame. The penalties you can control that. The turnovers are sometimes, you know, things you can't control. But that looked like he was just switching the football from the right arm to the left arm and he just dropped it. And so Doyle made a big, you know, fumble recovery or force fumble on fourth down that Rodgers ended up recovering.

But still they turned the ball over. This was an unforced error, unfortunately giving Shadow pretty good field position at the Rogers 48. First down and 10. Empty backfield. For now Doyle is in at quarterback.

So Doyle is the quarterback now with five wide receivers, three to the right. Doyle takes the snap and it's a run up the middle. Now he bounces to the left, gets to the 45 and falls forward to the 45. Matthews, the guy that just fumbled, made the tackle. They'll put him at the 43 will be officials and so it'll be a second and five.

He's probably grumpy about that fumble. And Doyle they like to use kind of in the wildcat situation. Get him up there to run. He's also a pretty good thrower as well. He's a very good athlete as you mentioned.

Three a all purpose MVP in 2019. He dude can play. He's a good football player. Three official or three officials. Three receivers split to the right side, one man wide to left.

The the left and the shed. The pistol formation. They hand it off and this is Town in there at running back and he'll bang his way across the 40 short of a first down, gets to the 39 for a gain of about four more yards. Robinson was in there among others for the tackle for Rogers. So it'll be third down in a yard.

Good hard running effort that time. Doing a nice job of bouncing it to the outside, but I like the pursuit. Nice job by the Rodgers defense to Ralph. He had a couple of players around him and knocked him down making a good play. So third and one.

Everybody in tight for Schadl and the shotgun formation. Running back to the left of Doyle. Doyle gets the snap, runs up the middle, dodges some traffic and has a first down across the 35. Lowers his shoulder and gets to about the 32, maybe the 31 yard line. Gang tackled by a number of pirates.

They had Jesse Anthony, Deerfield and a couple other guys down there, but a gain of seven and another Damon Orthodontics. First down for Shadl just a great job that time by Doyle. He recognized it, kind of made a slip step to the left and was able to leave a defender kind of in his grasp. And that was the play. They had done a nice job.

Rodgers did a bottling up the defensive front there. He just bounced it to the outside, found some room there and ran hard. Little over five minutes remaining. First half, 21 nothing. Shadow park overrun.

Three receivers go to the right, one to the left. That Schmidt, the quarterback who split to the left. Doyle rolling to the right side, looking to throw, fires the ball, has a catch inside the 20. Running to the right sidelines and getting stopped down around the 15 yard line is Malachi Trout. And that's going to be a nice pickup.

17 yards it looks like in the first down down to the Rogers 15. You know, excellent, excellent job that time. That was three receivers, one ran version vertical, one ran kind of a deep out route, which is what Trout did. And another one ran a little corner route. So just a nice job of finding that open receiver.

Caught a, caught the ball in, in space, was able to get some positive yards. First down and 10 Schadl down at the 15 yard line of Rogers. Ball on the right hash. They've got Schmidt split to the right and three men wide to the left and they throw it out quickly. They've got a catch and getting down to about the 10 yard line.

Line goes the receiver. I think that was Cam O' Dell and that will get him down inside the 10. It looks like it'll be second down. Yeah, that was just a quick little screen out there trying to catch Rogers napping, but good pursuit that time. Came up and kept it to a manageable game here, but a good drive.

Remember Shadow took this, this ball over inside of Rogers territory here. So kind of short field football for the Highlanders. 420 remaining to play. First half, 21 nothing. Shadl on top.

Second down and five at the 10 yard line of Roger. Here's a handoff Town off the left side, dances across the line and now will drive his way down to about the six. He'll be a yard short of a first down. It'll be third down and one in on the stop for Rogers. Joseph Lawrence, senior linebacker, Good ball, possession, Throwing the ball and running the ball, keeping the clock moving here inside of four minutes.

Doing a nice job of kind of working the outside trying to find space against this Pirate defense. And I like the way that, you know, this Shadow offense is rolling right now. Third down a yard from the six yard line. Ball and near the center of the field, they've got Schmidt split to the left. Two men wide to the right.

The quarterback Doyle out of the pistol formation, takes the snap, looks to the left, throws to the left for Schmidt. High leaping try, pass incomplete. Good defense over there by Psychari Robinson, who was there on the play. And so it'll be fourth down and goal or not. Fourth down and goal.

Fourth and one from the six. You know he got a little pbu. Got a hand in there to break that up. A great coverage played right inside. Looks like we're going to get a timeout here for Shadl.

And let's go ahead and take a time out. I think we need to do that with 329 remaining. First half, 21 nothing. Shadle back after this on the Arby's. GSL game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105.

Now town in motion, off to the right side. And movement up front, I thought by the left guard. Yeah. Flag is down. They do have a first down, but I think Schadl's gonna be hit with another penalty.

We'll see. I thought the left guard moved quickly. Well, that's the second time that we have seen, you know, a penalty like that in terms of a situation inside the goal line. They had one down here, you know, in the east end zone where they moved as well. They're gonna move that back five yards and that's gonna drive Coach Mace nuts.

What is that, six penalties now? Yes, five, five yarders and a 15 for Shadow park so far. So 40 yards and penalties. So instead of fourth and one, it's fourth and sixth now at the 11. Schedel on top, 21 nothing.

We've got 326 remaining to play here in the first half. Schmidt will split wide to the rights or to the left side. He's got Town slotted inside him. Doyle the quarter quarterback and there are three receivers wide to the right here. Doyle takes the snap, runs to the left side, wants to throw to the left now.

He'll keep it. He's at the 10. He's at the 5. He gets by a man and into the end zone for a touchdown. Doyle the run that time, an 11 yarder.

He was able to break the tackle of Joseph Lawrence to keep him, trying to keep him out of the end zone. It would have been a first down play play but anyway, but he couldn't keep him out of the end zone. And Doyle runs it in from 11 yards out. And now Shadow park has a 27 to nothing lead with 318 left in the half. Good heads up play by Doyle rolling to his left side and he was able to keep the safeties and kind of the corners at bay because they had receivers running routes and so it looked like he was going to throw the ball at the last minute.

He pump faked it, then just ran in there and had good effort to get himself into the end zone. That kick just barely. So the PAT is good. He's had a couple like that so far. The the kicker, Andrew Jensen, the senior for Shadow Park.

But he has made two out of three. He missed one. They went for a two point conversion. And so they have a 28 to nothing lead with 318 remaining to play here in the first half. Well, this is sure nice to be able to say.

Now you've got something where it looks like you're eating your mask that's better than the other one. You know, I had a chin bra going there for a while. I couldn't keep the darn thing on my nose and it's big enough to support it so I had to do a little improvise here. So 318 remaining to play here in the second quarter. First half the of play and ready to kick it off is Jensen.

Here's the boot downfield low line drive kick that's going to be caught by one of the up men. But he was on his knees and that was taken by Jesse Atwood but it was a low liner and he had to drop to his knees in order to be able to catch that. Yeah, they usually try to teach you to let that go through there but you know the natural inquisition is basically you want to catch the football. He saw it come to him. He went down low.

It looked like a shortstop doing a nice job. Coach Elmis and coach Peddlewell over the baseball team might have to recruit him and he'd be a good infielder but he went down, picked that up. Unfortunately both knees were on the ground and doesn't get to run it. He was grumpy about that because he had some room to run. It was a low line drive and so there.

He probably could have gotten 15 yards maybe on that return and got it. Not up closer to the 40. Instead Pirates start at their 23. 1 back Matthews in the backfield 34 receivers 2 D in spring the and there will be a little quarterback draw. Jeske breaks one tackle in the backfield, struggles forward and then he is hogtied by Kaden Watts, a 220 pound sophomore and they will bring him down it looks like at the 22 for a long they'll put it right back at the 23.

No gain. Yeah really no place. Nice job by Watts getting up there. And the sophomore showed good strength and kind of fought through the block, slipped out to his right side and was finally able to knock him down. So so set.

And now for the Pirates at their own 23. They've been able to get some yardage here in this first half. They just haven't been able to dent the Scoreboard. They've had a couple of pretty good drives, but they haven't been able to get into the red zone yet. Of Shadow Park.

Jeske under center. Three receivers, two to the right, ball on the left hash. Jeske will run it off the right side himself. Crosses the 25, 30, 35, 40. Up the right hash over the 45 and is stopped at the 46Y.

Good run. I don't know if that was designed or not. It was tackled by Ryan Schmidt, but a first down run by Jeske. Damon Orthodontics, first down to pick up a 23. I think what happened is he mishandled the snap, Larry, and he just improvised.

He just saw that, you know, basically I blew the snap. So it screwed up the timing on the run play. Just looped around the right side, got some good blocking by his wide receivers downfield. Showed some good speed, picked up the first down and nearly got it out to the midfield. Rogers has two timeouts left, Schadl has one.

Clock counting down as we get to two minutes remaining to play here in the first half of action. 28 nothing. Shadow Park, Jesky short drop, look to the right, nobody open. Now he'll run to the left, cross midfield and is tackled at about the 49, maybe the 48 yard line. That'll be a pickup.

Another five yards and that's what a running quarterback could give you. He if everything breaks down, he can pull that football down and get positive yards and that drives linebackers and defensive coordinators nuts because you really have to kind of game plan for that. But maybe keeping one of the linebackers or defensive backs in there and spy him a little bit, try to slow him down. So second and five, clock counting down at 125. Now Jeske under center, straight eye in the backfield.

One receiver to either side, tied into the game, set to the left. They'll hand it off. And nothing doing. That time stopped in the backfield is the running back for a loss of a yard. That is Matthew.

And we'll see who's down there at the bottom of the pile. For Shadow park, it is Tim Campton, a junior linebacker. Looks like Roger's gonna take a timeout to talk to his football team and try to get something going here with 109 to go. Well, let's talk about coast to coast turf. We aim to please.

They've had success throwing the little curl route and the little out route and they've also had success with Jeske running the football. But I think Shadl is going to counter and try to blitz up the middle. If that's the case, you're going to have one on one coverage.

Might allow your receivers to make some plays, maybe take a shot here. So third down and six. Jeske, the quarterback has completed four out of six passes. Unofficially, according to my stats, for 31 yards, he's got two receivers to the right, ball near the right hash mark and one man to the wide side, the left side. Jesky still under center.

He will run to the right side trying to get to the corner. He does. He's over the 50, got a little block and will go out of bounds. Schmidt pushes him out. Looks like he's a little short of the first down at the 45 yard line.

So that'll bring up fourth down and about a yard here. That was just a good job. Good heads up play. Very nice block, you know, by the wide receiver on the outside who came up and was able to kind of seal the end there and allow Jeske to bounce it out there. But he stepped out just a yard short, you know, thought.

I think he thought he. All he had to do is get to the 45, which he did, unfortunately. Had to get to the 44. So fourth down in a yard here. They've gone for it a number of times and have had success.

On fourth down, Jeske on a quick snap, just burrows right up the middle and has a first down all the way down to the 41. That's a gain of four more yards and that takes place between center and quarterback. They're gonna come right back to lion scrimmage. Go quick. They only have one timeout.

We're at one minute remaining to play now in the first half. Rogers trying to drive for a score there at the shadow 41 from the right hash. Jeske calling the signals. Three wide receivers, two to the right. They will hand it off.

Running to the left side and picking his way in there, not really hitting the hole with any, any force was Danny Rupp and he will get maybe a yard in the play and that's where you, you've got to be able to plant that foot and find that hole and get up there quickly. You can't kind of soft sell it. You've got to go gain a two on the play. Second down and nine and they will spike the ball here with 31 seconds remaining in the half and it'll be third down and eight and he may have ended up having to spike it because I don't know that any of his receivers were ready.

I agree. Sometimes when you try to go fast and you're not used to it, they can kind of catch you by surprise. And if you look out there and they maybe are not on the same page with your play or lined up or set or in the right spot then I think that was a heck of a heads up play just to spike that. Stop the clock and come back and get organized. Up third down, officials time out here.

I think Jeske had some blood on his arm and so Keith Eggleston, the athletic trainer gets him some black tape and now he's going to have to go out of the one play. Go out for a play unless they take a timeout. If I'm Rodgers, I'm taking my last time out out here. I am too. Pierce Kock, a sophomore, looks like he is going to be called on to come in here.

He's going, hi guys. Help. That's scary. You're not ready for that. You got to jump in there and play.

That's a tough situation at quarterback. And so Kak the sophomore will run this third down and eight play. It won't be what Jeske would have run if he was out there, I'll guarantee you that. He better go. They're gonna have a delay a well I wonder now if that gets you to where you can get your quarterback back in the game.

Delay a game, penalty against. You may have sacrificed five yards but you can get your quarterback back. That's true. Because that's a play, it's a penalty or nope, he's not going to be allowed to play. They don't have a quarterback.

Well, the cuck just ran out of the game thinking Jessica could come back in but he can't going. Okay, we're gonna run that same play again, but we're gonna run it before the clock runs out. Let's go. They're down to 12 seconds. You better hustle.

So third and 13 now for Rodgers at the Schadl 44. Down to four on the play clock and Kuk now takes the snap, hands it off. This is Moore has a seam 40, 35 bounce outside to the right 35, 30 down inside the 25 and is knocked down at about the 24 yard line as Moore takes off that time and he has a 20 yard rushing gain and a Rogers first down with 22.

3 seconds. How about cluck coming in there and being crucial there. Usually the center quarterback snap is a question. Now Rogers going to take their last time out Larry with 22 seconds to go. But that's not an easy thing for a backup quarterback who's been sitting on the sidelines and has to jump in and make a play.

Kind of in a pressure situations. Inside of a minute. Good for him. Nice job. So more another 20 yards.

I have him unofficially six carries for 41 yards in the first half as Rogers is nearing a hundred rushing yards. Here in the first half they have 70. Unofficially I have at 77 rushing yards and 31 passing yards for 108 yards of offense and Schadl is at 59, 152. It looks like Moore is out. He's on the sidelines right now.

Looks like he might have got something on the hip little hip pointer or something. He's talking to Keith Eggleston right now and might have gotten a helmet on there on that last play. Finishing up on that tackle. So we'll see what Rodgers can do here with 22 and 3. 10 seconds.

They're out of timeouts. So if there's any tackle in the field of play that isn't good for a first down, the clock will run and it could run out on them before they can get another playoff. Two wide receivers, one to either side now. Motion coming from the right side. Receiver Anthony Deerfield through the the left Jeske takes the snap, fades back, throws the ball out to the left sidelines.

Has a catch at the 15. Breaking one tackle as Deerfield trying to get to the sidelines. Can't do it. Clock will run. They even stop him for a loss.

Back of the 25 and they're not going to get a playoff here unless they can snap it right now and kill it. They got to get set and they're going to get the playoff. Here's a deep throw down the left side. Jump ball tried incomplete. So no gain on the previous pass and then an incomplete pass and that ends the first half of play.

And those of us here in the press box. I suppose as at the half, Shadow park leads Rogers by the score of 28 to nothing. Our first half recap brought to you by the General and in that starting part of the first half, the opening kickoff run back by ryan Schmidt A 93 yard kickoff return for a touchdown that was 7 nothing.

Shadow Park Rogers had a nice drive. They took it down to the shadow 37 but turned the ball over on downs. Schedule then started a 63 yard drive took him 10 plays. Ryan Schmidt a six yard passing play to Logan Doyle for a touchdown point. After no good it was 13 to nothing.

Rogers turned it over on downs. Schedule took over at the Rogers 26. Schmidt a four yard rushing touchdown made it 21 to nothing. Rogers then drove into Shadow territory and fumbled. It was recovered by burgos at the 48 yard line of Rogers as the play went backwards by about 10 yards.

And so that started a 48 yard drive for Shadow that ended up on a fourth down play a an 11 yard run by Logan Doyle. Pat was to going good. That made it 28 nothing. And that's where we are here at the half as Rogers drove down to the shadow 24 at the end of the half before being stopped. So Rogers has had a couple of nice drives but they just haven't been able to sustain anything.

Schedule got the big play to start the game and they have not looked back. Well, they got the momentum really right off, you know, the get go on the first play with with Schmidt's 93 yard return and you know Rogers has actually moved the ball. They've done a nice job. They controlled, controlled the clock. They've just had too many turnovers.

They've had a couple of fumbles, one on a fourth down they ended up recovering. When Doyle stripped, you know the quarterback Jeske, who's been running for his life, I thought he played pretty darn well in the first half and I thought Tyson Moore played very well as well at halfback and on defense. He seemed to be all over the field but looked like he got banged up inside a minute to go on that long run that he had, you know, that brought them inside the 30 yard line. It looked like he may have, you know, bruised a hip or so but, but anyway, Rodgers has some things that they can build on Larry and, and I think that's what they need to do. They're going to get the football to start the third quarter.

Let's see if they can take one maybe, maybe back and change, change the momentum a little bit. All right, here's what's happening in the GSL this evening. Some big games in the 3A 4A race the battle of 2:1 and O teams as Mead plays at Central Valley tonight. Also this evening, 01 Lewis and Clark at 1 and O Gonzale Prep oh and 1. Ferris is at 01 U High.

So somebody will get a win there. And in the game after this one one and Ocheney plays oh and one Mount Spokane. And we'll have that game for you right here on the radio in the two A side. Besides this game here today, West Valley plays at Othello tonight and then tomorrow East Valley is at Clarkston and Pullman visits north central. And Pullman is 01, North Central is 1 and O, East Valley 01, Clarkston is 01, West Valley 1 and oh, Othello 1.

And that should be an interesting battle there. Volleyball. Yesterday Gonzaga Prep beat Cheney 3 nothing. It was Mount Spokane over Mead in five sets in a battle of two of the best programs in Spokane. That was a heck of a game.

Central Valley over Lewis and Clark. And it was Ferris beating Yuhai in another five game match in the two way side. West Valley over Clarkston in four. Shadow park defeated East Valley in five. It was North Central blanking.

Othello and Pullman beat Rogers Young in soccer yesterday to a side. Shadow got a win 3 nothing over East Valley. Rogers lost 1 nil to Pullman. North Central beat Othello 2 to 1. Clarkston and West Valley tied at 3.

On Monday, the 3A 4A soccer will be played. Central Valley, Ferris, Lewis and Clark. John Sega Prep will host Mead. Mount Spokane is at U High on Saturday. Cross Country Garden 3 2Ameets will be held throughout the area tomorrow.

And then three 3A 4Ameets will also be held throughout the area tomorrow as well. So that's a look at our first half and our scoreboard and schedule and hopefully we'll be able to update that as we go throughout the night. We're at the half here. And so let's look at some statistics here. In the first half the Shadow park the visiting team had 59 rushing yards. These are my unofficial stats statistics. 93 passing yards for 152 yards of first half offense and Rogers had 77 on the ground 31 through the air for 108 yards in the first half for Shadow Park. Logan Doyle had 7 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Ryan Schmidt 2 carries, 17 yards and a touchdown. Tryson Town 2 carries for 8 yards and Ensminer had 1 carry for no yards. Schmidt passing 4 out of 8, 71 yards, 1 touchdown, no intercept. Doyle 2 out of 3, 22 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions. Doyle the leading receiver, 2 catches for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Johnson with 1 catch for 33. Trout with 1 for 7, 1 for 17 I should say in the first half of play for Rogers. Casey Jeske at 8 carries for 42 yards. I had Tyson Moore with 6 for 41 in the ball game. Carlos Matthews Jr.

Had 6 carries for a minus 8 yards and Danny Rupp had a carry for 2 yards. Casey Jeske unofficially passing 5 out of 9, 31 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions. Deerfield had 3 catches for 16 yards and 1 catch for 10 yards for Bellard and 1 for 5 for Matthews. In the first half of play, Rodgers turned the ball over once on a fumble. Shadle did not turn it over.

Plus Shadl had the big special teams touchdown. The 943 yard return touchdown by Schmidt who accounted for 90 all purpose rushing yards with the 110 yards, I should say of all purpose rushing yards with the 93 in the kickoff return plus 17 rushing and he passed for another 71 yards in a touchdown. You know, just a good effort, you know, along those lines. And there were some good individual plays on the side of both Rogers and Shayla. We talked about.

I thought Schmidt was a difference maker, really setting the temple, you know, for this Highlander team. And of course I love what Doyle does. He play so well at linebacker. He comes in, he can give you minutes at quarterback at running back. It creates a lot of problems for you.

But really, Rodgers just made some mistakes. They couldn't capitalize. They moved the football on this Highlander defense, but they couldn't put it in the end zone. I think that's going to be the quest for the second half with David Chambliss and his team say, look guys, we're moving the ball, we're making plays, we're possessing the football, but let's put, let's stick the thing in there and score, score some points and make this a game.

And they can come out through that. The third quarter when they get the football. Both teams out on the field warming up prior to the start of the second half. Rogers, the home team in their purple and Shadow, their home. The visiting team in their white road jerseys, plus the green pants.

All right, so welcome back. Shadow park got the game's opening kickoff, so they will kick off here in the second half and they've had a couple of drives.

What you want to do with these guys is I think they aspire a little bit, in my opinion, to what Schadl has been able to do a little bit in this ballgame. And that's get it to second and six, then third and two, then first and 10, then second and five, then third and one, then first and 10. That type of offense, that's what Rogers needs to do. Whether you're passing for four or five yards on first down or you're able to run it. We haven't had any punts on either team, so I like that Rodgers is using four downs.

They're not going to punt the football. That's their strategy. They figure we can average, you know, two and a half, three yards, you know, a play. We're going to get a first down, we're going to keep this drive going, and that's exactly what they want to do. So I like that.

I think that's cool. I think David Chambliss has done a nice job. They're getting better, they're getting bigger. There's going to be opportunity for them to compete in games here this spring, and that really is going to set the tempo for them next fall when we come back and do this thing all over and hopefully have a regular season.

It's not truncated like it is right now. Well, and they've had three drives into Shadow park territory that just haven't. They haven't been able to finish. They've gotten the ball in. They haven't gotten it to the red zone yet, but they've gotten it into shadow territory.

Their deepest position was down at the shadow 24. So they've, you know, made some drives. They just haven't been able to quite get them finished yet. Well, and they ran out of time there at the end of the second quarter, they had a complete completion on the side, but by the time they got back, you know, the clock ended and they couldn't finish. So they're right there.

They're knocking on the door now they just need to push through our second half kickoff brought to you by Papa Murphy's Love at 425 degrees. Deerfield is back deep to receive. He's on the far side as we look at it. And Moore is on the near side as we look at it. Ready to kick it off for Shadow park is Andrew Jensen.

As our second half is now underway from Union Stadium, Rogers will move right to left in front of us. Line drive kick on a hopped taken by Moore at the 14 over the 25 bounces outside, excuse me, on the left side and a stop short of the 30 yard line. Good kick coverage that time for Shadow Park. They had three guys that really were down there, Malachi Trout, Ryan Rose and Beckett Ensminger all there on the stop. Rogers will take it at their own 29.

Good Discipline Special teams play that time because Schadl stayed in their lanes and and really allowed more to kind of come to them. And that's what you want to do. You don't want to get sucked in, you want to get bounced or kicked out. And they were able to be very solid at, you know, running down and staying disciplined and staying in their lanes. That's why they had the good special teams play.

So first down and 10, Rogers at the 29 yard line. Ball on the left, hash. They have one man split to the right, two men wide to the left here. And they have motion coming from Moore on the right side as a slot receiver. They fake the handoff to Matthews and back to throw.

Running now to the right side is Jeske throwing down. Feet into coverage across the middle and it's intercepted. Town, the linebacker across the 40 to the 35, down to the 33. The mistake you don't want to make, and that is running to the one side or the other and then throwing back across the middle. And Town ended up intercepting that.

And that's the second turnover on the Pirates. I don't think he saw Town, Larry. He exactly what you said. He rolled right. Town came from his left side and when he threw that ball, he didn't see him.

He flashed right underneath. Did a nice job of catching that ball. Doing a little pivot, kind of, you know, 360spin move. Get up field another few yards before he's finally tackled. But now shadows got the ball inside of Rogers territory and plenty of momentum.

Third straight drive that Shadl has taken over in Rogers territory. First down and 10 at the Pirate. 33. Ball on the left hash Schmidt back in at quarterback. Three receivers, actually only one receiver wide to the left, fake rolling to the left.

Schmidt wanting to go deep, left side, nobody open, being pursued. Now throws it over the middle, has a catch. I think it's Doyle Inside the 20 down at about the. Nope, it is Town down at the 18 yard line. That's a gain of 15 yards and a first down.

Tyson Moore made the stop for Rodgers. Tyson Moore has been all over the field, both offensively, defensively and special teams. And just a good heads up play that time by Schmidt. He rolled left, he did the Cardinals and he threw back right across the middle. But Town was wide open in there because everybody had bailed and was going deep.

He had two receivers running deep routes down downfield and that's withdrew the defense. Sterling Lipscomb, a wide receiver to the left. They have two men slotted inside him and one receiver. Johnson out wide to the right here. First down and 10 from the 18 back to throw it.

Here's a little skinny post that is caught for a touchdown. Liam Johnston. Liam Johnston. Robert running a little skinny post there and he is able to catch it for the touchdown. We do have a flag down though, back at the quarterback.

It'll be a hold on Shadow park. So the touchdown is coming back. Well, that was a great throw, Larry. He really kind of, he puts a mustard on that thing. Good coverage again by Rodgers, but that ball was perfectly thrown.

Hit the receiver right in the hip. He was able to go down, kind of use his body to wall off the db. But all for not got that little hanky hole thing. And they're going to move back 10 yards and you have to do it again. First down and it'll be from the spot of the foul which was the 24 yard line.

And so this is going to be a big penalty. You're right. Go back to the 34 yard line. That from the line of scrimmage is a 16 yard penalty. And so it's first down and 26 now for shadow Park.

They've got it at the Rogers 34 yard line out of the pistol formation. Schmidt will hand it off running to the right side. Doyle has a little opening, crosses the 30 yard line and he's knocked off his feet by Anthony Deerfield as he gets to the 26 and that'll be a pretty good eight yard run there and make it a little bit more manageable here.

Nice job by Deerfield to come up from the safety position, take the angle away from Doyle, go down low and knock him off his feet. Good defensive back play that time by him. They still need 18 yards, second and 18 for schedule at the Rogers 26 yard line. They need to take it down to the 18th yard line. 28 nothing, schedel on top 10 and a half minutes to play.

Third quarter, four receivers, three to the left, back to throw to Schmidt. Being pressured, runs to the right. Now comes back, still going. Now throws, has a comeback catch. This is down inside the 10 yard line.

Inside the five. This is town. He makes it into the end zone for a touchdown. The ball pops out, but the officials say it is after he crosses the plane of the goal. That is a touchdown for Shadow Park.

Trison Town on the reception that time from ryan Schmidt. A 26 yard passing score. And it's now 34 nothing. Shadow park and Schmidt bought time that time, Larry. Everybody was covered initially, but he kind of scrambled around, rolled to his left, stop, came back and really threw a, you know, a fastball down there, down the sidelines.

Just good heads up play by Town to just kind of be physical and run over the corner and push himself into the end zone. Nice job. And so point after is going to be tried here as Jensen is on and flags are down once again. And this is going to be another penalty on Shadow park for a false start, I believe. Let's see before the snap.

The officials are going to talk it over here. Our referee again is Rick Watson today and four of the five officials are gathering here. Everybody but the linesman on the near side. And it'll be offside on Rodgers and so that'll cost a yard and. Or will they decline it?

Yeah, yep, they're going to decline it basically and take the ball back at the three yard line. And so here comes the PAT offering here with 10:13 remaining. Third quarter, snap back ball, Smith spotted rush from the outside. Kick is up and it is good. We'll take a break.

A 33 yard drive, a 26 yard passing touchdown from Schmidt to town capping that 33 yard drive. And it's now 35. Nothing in favor of shot Shadow park. Which makes sense because Town was the one that picked the ball off. So why not finish it up.

You get the interception on defense, you get the touchdown pass on offense. That's a pretty good day. Not bad at all. All right, here's Rogers Jeske under center. He's got a man in motion through the formation off to the right side.

And we're going to get a penalty on Rogers for a false start here. They have hurt themselves with a few false start that type of penalties. It's only their fourth penalty of the ball game so far. But they've all been the little five yarders. Yeah, they just again trying to do too much.

Not staying with the within themselves a little bit. You know, you don't want to play behind the chains. You want to give yourself a chance. And especially when you're on offense, Larry, and you know the count, you know what it's going to be on. You've got to be able to have discipline there and hold that and not.

And not bounce. The Rogers cheerleaders are trying to do that. We got spirit. Yes we do. We got spirit.

How about you? But the problem is they can't hear each other because the only people that are in stands that are cheering are the cheerleaders. And there's only about eight or 10 of them on each side. Here's a run by Town and he'll get or excuse me, by Jeske and he will get the five yard penalty back on that rush and it'll be second down and 10. Yeah, but they did a better job than the Mountain, than the, the Shadow cheerleaders.

That's who I think they're competing against so well. Yes, but we can't hear the Shadow cheerleaders. They're too far away. We can barely hear Each other. I mean that was just a quarterback draw that time designed to go up the middle.

Did that, was able to get back to 5 yards and you got second and 10 now see if they try to throw it or put it it in the hands of the quarterback. Has been running all over the place. Belle guard splits to the left. Two men wide to the right here on second down and 10, two backs in the backfield. Jesky fades back, wants to throw.

Pressured out of the pocket, hit and sacked back at the 26, maybe the 27 yard line. Trying to see who that was that brought him down. I think it was Brian Rose there on the stop for the Pirates loss of four on the sack. I believe that's only the second sack of the day for. Yeah, Doyle had one and then Rose had one I think.

Remember Doyle on fourth down. So third down and 14 now for Jesky. Trips to the right, one man wide to the left. They've been going for it on third down so they're just looking for 7, 8, 9 yards here if they can get it just Jeske will roll to the right side, gets to the corner being pursued. He will run the ball.

He gets across the 30 or to the 30 anyway and takes a big shoulder. He's going to get about 4 yards on the run and he got shouldered hard by somebody over there. It might have been Caden Watts, the 220 pound sophomore. So it'll be fourth down and 10 here for Rodgers. Well, Jeski has a big heart.

He took a. You're right, he took a big shot there but he bounced right back up, ran the football back, gave it to the umpire and they're going to go for it on 4th and 10. But you know what, I like this. I like the fact they're trying to get their momentum going. They're trying to get some things going on offense.

They're using all four downs here and they turn it over. They have confidence in their defense to make some plays. 832 remaining to play here in the third quarter of play. 35 nothing. Shadow park ahead, fourth down and 10.

Rogers at their own 30 yard line. Jeske will roll now to the left side. Being pursued again. He will stop, come back to the right now, take off upfield, crosses the 30, but it stopped at the 33 after a three yard gain. Matt Torero made the stop, the junior defensive lineman.

So Jeske gains three, but it's a four down turnover and Schadl takes over for the fourth straight possession in Rodgers territory at the 33. Remember four of those five offensive linemen also play defensive linemen as well. So they're getting tired here. 8:22 to go here in the third quarter. They've had a lot of of football.

Those guys are gassed. A couple of the linemen have their hands on their hips or down, you know, sitting down there trying to catch, you know, their breath. So that's tough when you have to do that offensively and defensively up front. It's not a lot of bodies on this Rogers bench. As you look down there, you probably only can up about 11 or 12 guys right now on first down, here's a run to the right side.

Doyle trying to pick his way through but he has stopped right at about the line of scrimmage. Nice job there by the Rogers defense. I'm trying to see who that was. Turn around there and help us out there. And that was Danny Rupp who brought him down.

Danny Rupp's had a pretty good game. He's been running around there at linebacker, doing a nice job. The senior, the 200 pounder and stuck his nose right in there and drove the running back back. Good job. Gain of a yard there for Doyle.

Rupp last year was a first team all three, a GSL defensive back. So he has proven that he's an outstanding player in this league. Here's a little pitch back reverse running the left side. Johnson gets hit as he crosses the 30 and is knocked off his feet at about the 28 yard line. And so it'll be third down here.

Looks like it's going to bring up and I think. Well, I'm not sure who brought brought him. Might have been Tony Deep that brought him down there in the secondary for Rogers. You know, we've seen some good open field tackling on both sides, both Schadl and Rogers here in the second game of the season here in the spring. And that's, that's good.

That's not easy to do. Just a nice job out there on the wing. So a gain of four. It's third down and five and this time it'll be Schmidt running to the left, stops, cuts to his right and gets a couple of yards maybe on the play we'll see how much they give him. And a good job again by this defense for Rodgers and they stop him short.

And so it'll be fourth down and about three after a gain of a couple. Been tough sledding up the middle that defensive front. Those guys playing both ways have played well. Where the damage has been done is deep down the field on the Pass and also on the outside when they can, we can break through that kind of that initial surge by that defensive line. So this Roger defensive front has had a good football game.

I think it was Jordan Searles that that made the knockdown there. So fourth down and three, Schadl. They're at the Rodgers 26 yard line here and they are down to seven on the play clock. Schmidt fakes the handoff to Doyle, fades back, has time now, steps up in the pocket, still fires down the middle of the field. Has a sliding catch in the end zone.

And it is made for a touchdown for Shadow Park. And that is Town caught for a touchdown. Tries in. Town hauls that one in his second passing reception. Touchdown of the ballgame.

Another 26 yarder and that makes it a 41 to nothing game with 609 remaining. Third quarter. You know, that was, that was just great protection by Shadow Park. You know, Schmidt had all day to throw. He probably had six, seven, maybe even eight seconds.

And that's really hard to try to cover anybody for that long. And Town broke off the route, broke back across the field. That's where he was open. So the second consecutive 26 yard passing touchdown, the PAT is booted through. And we'll take another timeout.

And Rogers will take it at the 28 yard line as the 33 yard drive capped by the second consecutive 26 yard pass from Schmidt to town makes it a 42 to nothing ballgame. That's your STCU touchdown drive recap. Also have a running clock now because of the 42 point difference difference and so this, this game's going to go pretty quick here and but again there's a lot of things that Rogers can do to continue to get better and that's the process.

You want to see that good job by Shadow park. Taking advantage of that Town's been huge but Ryan Schmidt has really been the guy for Shadow park has played very well. So first down and 101 back in the backfield. A wing is set to the right here and Jeske is under center and the wing moves early and There is another 5 yard false start on Rodgers the play. So that's their fifth all start penalty of this ball game.

Unofficially I don't think there's been more than that, but I can't swear to it. And so it'll be first and 15 now for the Pirates and the clock inside of five minutes now again it is a running clock. The only time it'll stop is for injuries and touchdowns and into the quarter and that type of thing. Yes. So first down and 15 now for the Pirates at their own 23.

One receiver to either side, one back in the backfield, two tight ends and they faked. Nope, they do hand it off and there's not much doing there. Loss of a yard or two perhaps there. I'm not sure who that was in the ball carrier. We'll see for Rodgers, might have been Matthews.

And So it'll be second down and 17 now as that was a two yard loss on the play. It just excellent job. Good penetration by Shadow getting up, getting up field and and making a play there. Really no place to go because the defensive line established a line of scrimmage on the other side of the ball that's tough to run into. I forgot I have my binoculars here.

I can see see things now. It was wrap on the carry for the loss of two and so it'll be second and 17 now Jeske under center, takes the snap, fades back, short drop, quick throw, has a catch on the right, dancing up over the 25 yard line and getting out close to the 30 and that's going to be a nice little seven yard or so gain. And that was Carlos Matthews Jr. On, on the Catch. And so it's going to be third down and about eight now.

Nice job by Matthews Jr. To split the defense that time. He had two defenders out there. He just went between the two of them, caught the ball. That ball was thrown well, I mean he got that ball out there quickly and you know, if they don't have to keep playing behind the sticks like they do with all those darn penalties, they'd be right there.

Third and very short, manageable nine yard pickup. So it's third and eight now at their own 30 for Rodgers. Motion out of the backfield by rap, going off to the right side. And Jesky will take the snap, fade back, no fake, has time now. A little pump fake now will run up into the middle of the field.

He gets over the 30 and is tackled at about the 33 after about a three yard play there. I think it was Matt Torero that brought him down. That'll bring up fourth down at about five. Yeah, I think you're right. 27 did a good job.

That was him and he just chased him right back up the field. Showed pretty good quickness, went low and was able to knock him down. I don't think if he makes that play, I think Rogers gets the first down. Give him four yards on the pickup up to the 34 yard line. To the fourth and four now for the Pirates.

The ball just short of their own 34 yard line. 15 seconds on the play clock as they reach the line of scrimmage. 223 on the game clock. Third quarter, 42 nothing. Rogers trailing Shadow Park.

One receiver to either side, straight eye in the backfield. Jesky, the quarterback calls the, the play fades back, has time, throws the ball on a slant over the middle and throws high over the head of his intended receiver that time. And that was I think Deerfield, the intended receiver. And so that is overthrown. And another four down turnover for Rodgers in their own territory.

Schadl takes it at their own 34. You know that time they had Warwick. No, I'm sorry. It was Matthews Jr. Over in the flat.

He was wide open to the wide side of the field, but he was locked in, you know, in terms of that post to the right side of the field. If you'd have been able to come off the receiver and come back to his back, I think he would have been able to have a big play there. He was open down to 135. Clock running here in the third quarter. Logan Doyle is now the quarterback for Shadow park and he will hand it off on first down.

Ensminger gets down to the 30 yard line and is pushed backwards from there. Good job by the Rogers defense. Trying to see who that was might have been. Rapp takes it out to the 30 yard line. That's who it was wrapped was the guy.

Cyrils May had a piece of it as well. Gain of four. These guys, they need to show their numbers to the press box so you can tell who's who out there when they make a nice play. That's true. Second down and six.

Doyle will roll to the left side. Wants to throw. Still rolling. Throw short has a catch over the 25 yard line. And slipping one tackle and getting down inside the 20 now.

And being stopped at about the 18 yard line is the receiver, Malachi Trout. The receiver and they're going to put him, it looks like at the 18 yard line. That's going to be a gain of 12 more yards and a first down. Doyle broke. Contain that time to the left side.

Trout just ran down, broke his rod off. Came back to help Doyle out. But I think he got a penalty. They're going to move that back. It looks like.

Yeah, they get something going on. Maybe a hold or something along those lines. A penalty near the line of scrimmage in the center of the field. So in the area where you would suspect for holding. We'll see as the referee comes out and tells us nope, ineligible downfield.

Wow. Is the call. So they'll mark that off from the 28 and that will come back to the 33 yard line and that will also end the third quarter of play. Our third quarter brought to you by NECA and IBEW. And that was Spencer Fox who has speed to burn. But we do have a marker down and likely another play that'll be coming back. Liam Johnson got a little happy hands out there on the corner and just reach out. He did a good job of Wall in the corner off, but when he spun outside he kind of grabbed the jersey the the official that headlinesman on that side saw through the flag. So this will be a penalty marked off, it looks like, from about the 27 or 8 yard line.

And that's going to cost him only about three or four yards from the line of scrimmage. And Instead of a second and nine, it'll bring up a second and 13 situation now from the 38 yard line. Yeah, but it wiped out a pretty darn nice play all the way down the sidelines too. And that's the, that's the thing that's frustrating. You get something going and you get a lot of penalty and that's something Shadow's gonna have to work on as well.

They been penalized a lot in this game as well. So second and 14 now for the Highlanders at the 38 of Rogers. Ball on the right hash. Three receivers split left, one man wide to the right. Doyle out of the pistol formation, running back behind him.

Still 10 seconds on the play clock. He takes the snap, fades back, wanting to throw, fires the ball over the middle, leaping try for Johnston and that is batted away incomplete and a flag comes in on the side of the and I think they're going to get a penalty on the Rodgers bench is what we're going to end up with here. We'll see. That'll be a sideline warning Because I think he ran into one of the coaches. But Moore made a nice play batting down that pass downfield.

Let's see what this penalty is all about. And is the sideline infraction. And so it'll be second down, third down, rather, after the incomplete pass here. Great timing by Moore on that, Larry, to wait till the last minute, go up and find the football. Just swat it away.

That's really good coverage. He's been busy over there. He's been very active and that's been a good battle between him and the wide receiver. So third and 14 now for Shadow park at their 30 at the Rogers 38 yard line. Doyle again out of the pistol.

Four wide receivers, two to either side. Here's the snap and they hand it off. Ensminger into the middle, doesn't get much. Might have gotten to the 36. That'd be a gain of a couple of yards.

And so it'll bring up fourth down and long here. So Ensminger gets a couple of yards. Good tackle that time on the other side. Look like Kelly Kurtz. No, I think that was 35 and we don't have him on Roger's side.

Darn it. Maybe it's 39. Looks like 35. Yeah, but. Yeah, they don't have one on the roster, so maybe it was.

I mean, it's. Again, they're not really there. We're only getting about a. We get the three on the jersey, but they're not giving us a nice. I think that was.

It was maybe Tony deep. Tony deep? Yeah, I think he was the one. He did a nice job in that tackle. Fourth down and 12 in motion is in Sminger and they'll swing it out to him.

He caught, catches the 42, got a block over the 35 to the 30, accelerating. And he is going to be close to a 40. First down. Let's see, they'll put him right short of the 24, it looks like. Does he get the first down?

I think he does or it's very close. Spencer Fox was the one that sprung him. Kind of came in from the outside, was able to crack on the the inside, maybe the strong safety. And that was enough to free him. Sure enough, first down for.

For Shadow Park. I thought Rogers had that pretty well bottled up. But very nice individual play and good blocking by the Highlanders in a 12 on the play and a first down. Down to the 24 of Rogers. Ball on the left hash.

One receiver goes to the right. A left to three men go to the right. Doyle will run, picks his way into the middle now bounces left 20, 15, 10 foot race five down the sidelines into the end zone or is he. What do we have? There is another flag down.

Think he got a hold and we never did get a signal as to whether he made it into the end zone. I thought he did. It looked like he unless he stepped on the out about the two yard line But I thought he was able to go right down the sidelines and get in there. He's a little grumpy on that hole. That's two big plays on this drive that have been wiped out by holding penalties so this one will only move them back four yards as it was six yards downfield where the hold occurred.

So they mark it off from the spot of the foul and so they lose from the 24 back to the 28 and it'll be first down and 14 now Schadl has 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 penalties. I think that's unofficial might have more than that. So first and 14 here back at the Rodgers 28 down to seven, 11 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. Here's a run and a big one inside the 20 to the 15, to the 10, to the 5 and Ensminer went out of bounds this time but he'll have a first down. He steps out at the five yard line line as leap deep Rather runs him out of bounds but a nice run that time.

23 yards and a first down boy end zinger showed some speed, he's got some quicks and just a nice job by deep to get over there and save the touchdown. Was able just to push him out of bounds and knock him down but could speed there and good blocking on the left side by that Shadow park offensive line so first down and five first and goal for Shadow park at their five yard line Around Rogers here they've got Tim Campton and one other receiver split to the right man one receiver wide to the left A wing set to the left. Doyle hands it off Insmger cuts up field gets a block and he's into the end zone. It's a touchdown for Shadow park. Ensminer with a five yard rushing touchdown and Shadow park is on top 48 to nothing with Sarah 6:05 and the clock running here in the fourth quarter and now they will stop the clock as it's supposed to stop after touchdowns and that thing but we also have an injured player on the field and it is a Shadow park player who is injured and it may be one of their offensive linemen but it's hard to see at this point.

So you have fresher players in there right now and you know, that really makes a difference at this stage in the game.

Here in the fourth quarter, I see 15 guys on the bench for Rogers and there's 11 on the field. So that means they've got 26 players in uniform. Wow, that's tough. You talked about how many guys were hurt. Back to throw it is the quarterback Jeske.

He will throw short, has a catch. This is Moore. Breaks one tackle and it stopped at the 39. A short pickup about three yards on the passing game there from Jeske to Moore. I like Jeske though.

He's up there. He's slapping the guys on the helmets and encouraging them. He's been a great leader here. Heck of an athlete. He's playing awfully hard.

And getting through there is Cam McAllister, another sophomore. And that will be a three yard pickup down to the 39 yard line. You know, Rogers only had 10 guys on their deep, had to come off the bench and run in there.

He was running to try to make a play, you know, from the sideline. So they started with 10, you know, and that's tough because you're playing both ways. You got a lot of stuff, stuff going, you know, but you got to know when defense is out there and you're on D, you got to make sure you're there. So a gain of three, second down and seven. Clock marching down to 210 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter.

Again the pistol formation. Jaden Town the quarterback, McAllister the running back behind him. And this time it'll be Town keeping the ball off the right side. Turns up field inside the 35. He's down to the 30.

They'll have a first down run about nine yards there. That's going to result in Shadow park first down at the Roger. That was just a nice athletic play. That was a quarterback kind of sweep, kind of keep to the right side. Good blocking by the wide receiver.

They kept, you know, they've hung in there, they've tried a lot of stuff. They haven't punted all day. They've gone for it on fourth down. Everybody but those kids are still out there running around playing hard. I like seeing that.

That's the kind of thing that shows me your well coached team and these guys have bought in. I believe that was Jordan Searles and let's see here, I had him just a minute ago. Now I've lost him. The other man that made the tackle there for Rogers. This might be the last play of the ballgame here as the clock counts down and they will run it this time.

And let's recap this game for a moment or two. Here started out Paul as Shadow park got the got the ball to start the game. They accepted the the kick and it was a 93 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Brian Schmidt.

And that kind of set the tone of the game. That really did. And it was very well blocked. Took it right up the middle. Schmidt, you know, caught the ball on the 7, was able to come up the middle and then cut from the right hash right up the middle of field towards the left left sidelines which was the shadow sidelines.

Just outran everybody. And you're right, Larry, that set the tone. You know, basically taking that thing back opening kickoff. That's such a backbreaker for for a football team. But just a nice job by by Shadow and a great job by Schmidt who had himself a whale of a football game.

Then Rogers turned it over on downs. Schedel scores again. Schmidt a six yard pass to Doyle point after no good. Thirteen to nothing. Rogers turns it over on downs.

This will be a theme here. Schmidt a four yard rushing touchdown, 21 nothing. Rogers turned over on a fumble recovered by Burgos that turned into an 11 yard run by Doyle on fourth down, 28 nothing. And that ended the first half. First play of the second half, Trieson Town had an interception of a Jet Ski pass that led to a 26 yard.

Schmidt to town. Touchdown. 35 nothing. 4 down turnover. Schmidt to town.

Plus on special teams he did a nice job returning kickoffs and I thought played very well even though he was banged up a little bit.

And first off, I want to talk about this place, Union Stadium. What a beautiful, beautiful facility. Union, you guys just have to be thrilled. Oh, beyond thrilled, Larry. I mean, it's taken us longer than we wanted to get in here, but you saw in a clear day with, of course I'm biased being at Mount Spokane, but sitting in the shadow of Mount Spokane, the physical mountain and then the beautiful LED lights, the turf, the facility holds about 4,500 people.

We're just thrilled to have our kids play on it. And we're so, it's so great to watch the shade on Rogers get, get out here too and play before our game tonight. So beyond thrilled to have people in the stadium. It is a, it took a while to get this all done. Give us a little bit of the timeline on when this all got approved and how construction went and all that.

Yeah, well, you know, working backwards, I mean, we really hope to have a grand opening this last fall, but you know, you're talking about, you know, four years in the making where the voters of the Mead School district passed a bond. Right? Bonds are for buildings. Levies are for learning. And that bond helped fund this beautiful, this beautiful facility for a long time.

This is the site of the original Mead High School. So I think there were some, some people who wondered, what is this going to look like? You know, traditionally this has been a different space in Mead, but now that we're here with these beautiful fields just off hasting roads and mark and market, we are just again, just, just beyond thankful and beyond thrilled that now, hopefully our community can come in and, and see what they really supported to make this happen for our kids.

Because Meadsville is a small community, and this feels a little small town for all of us. We're really excited. 4,500, 5,000 seats. We know how much Battle of the Bell draws. So was there an idea that maybe to go a little bigger?

Yeah, I think there was initially to go a little bigger, but I think at the end of the day, they decided not to build it for one game. They decided to build it for all the myriad of activities that happen in our district. The other thing I will say is that when you. When folks come out here, you'll notice the nice concrete surrounds, and we're going to be able to bring in our, you know, temporary stands that will give us another, probably 3,000. So if we can get 7,500 people in here, that's a pretty great environment for high school football.

And community always comes out to support the Panthers and the Wildcat. So you can bet this place is going to be the place to be. Absolutely. Darren Nelson, principal at Mount Spokane, joining us here. Fans in the stands, obviously, this is not a school district situation.

A lot of people I've seen on social media are starting to bash the school district. But this is a state mandate. The school districts have nothing to do with this, right? No, we really don't. This is coming from.

This is coming from the state of Washington, certainly. I think it's a little confusing because fans are starting to come in and parents are coming in for soccer and volleyball, so why not football? And. And right now, now we're working. Hopefully we can get some fans in next week, folks.

We're hoping, but we're working within a number that can be really difficult for football. Last week, when you have Gonzaga Prep and Mount Spokane on the field with all the staff, with all the people, with all the staff, 200 comes pretty quickly. So we are. We are hopeful to work within the 200 number, but really we're working within the confines of the state. And I am just hopeful that within the next week you're going to be seeing some parents in here supporting their kids.

That's where even Gonzaga basketball, they could only have 200 people in at the. At those games. And that includes players, the officials, the scoreboard operators, the custodians, whoever it is. That's right. And you're talking about rosters of maybe, you know, 18 to 20, not 75.

And so. But, you know, people are just passionate about their kids. They want to come out and support. I think everyone is looking for a sense of normalcy. And in our community, in most communities, this is a Step towards that.

Right. To get to watch a high school football game and watch their son in some cases for the last time. And I can empathize with that. And I'm just going to stay positive. That's going to happen sooner than later.

I think you're right. I think it will happen. And we'll see how quickly it does happen. Let's talk about this Mt. Spokane team a little bit.

Tough game last week against Gonzaga Prep. That was an old time, you know, grinded out football game 10, 7. Prep ended up winning. It was. But I'll tell you, I was so proud of our kids and I was so thankful just for the environment.

It was such a competitive environment. Our kids came ready to play. We only have three returning starters from this squad. And I can give nothing but praise to Terry Clore and his staff. They had our kids ready on a.

On a really short window of practice. I give a lot of credit to Gonzaga Prep and all these coaches in the league, but it was a great game. I don't think I've ever been so thankful for a lot of. And that we finally got to watch our kids play on this field. They were overjoyed.

They know they left everything out there and that's what high school athletics are about. And tell us what's happening at school right now. How are, how's everything going there? Our kids back full time in, in this district. What's happening?

Yeah, so our elementary kids, Creekside elementary is a brand new school right on the corner here. Our elementary students have been back full time since the get go for those parents who want to come back. Our Elementary K through 5 has been back. Our secondary 6th through 12. We're on a hybrid.

Like a lot of schools are starting now. So our kids come to school two days a week with a fully remote day on Friday. And we've been doing that since September. We are so thankful to have our kids back in school. And of course I'm greedy.

I want them back every day, all day. So that's gonna be the next step and it's gonna be around distancing and doing it safely. But I do think that day is coming sooner than maybe we anticipated even two months ago. So I look forward to that. Well, thanks to you.

40, 45, 50, up the left sidelines. 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5. It's a touchdown. Ryan Schmidt, the game's opening kickoff. The quarterback runs it back 93 yards.

And just like that, 16 seconds is what it took for him to go those 93 yards plus some running from the right hash to the left sidelines. And Shadow park draws first blood. And so that was exactly what Rogers did not want to have happen. And that is what happened for them. And that got them off to a bad start in this ball game and it got Schadl off to a good start and they roll onto the big win.

Well, Larry, when you, when you think about, you know, from a standpoint of making plays, you look at, you know, offense, defense and special teams and, and let's face it, Shadow park came out great. Special teams run. Give Schmidt credit. He found a seam right up the middle, is able to break it to the left side, run right down in front of his bench, outrun the safety, make it to the end zone and really set the tempo for a shader park, you know, game.

Because I thought Rogers was fired up and, and ready to go and you know, was going to play better, which I think they did. It just didn't show forth. They weren't able to punch the ball into the end zone and, and Shable Shadow was able to win both offense, defense and special teams and the game today. Let's get you you some statistics for this ball game. Shadow Parks, Logan Doyle leading them in rushing.

He had 43 yards on nine carries with a touchdown and Spinger had 34 yards on five carries with a touchdown. Schmidt had three carries, 19 yards and a touchdown. Schmidt passing I had him at seven out of 11 for 138 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions. Doyle passing three out of five 34 yards and the ballgame tries and town had four catches for 72 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Doyle two catches 33 yards in a score.

Liam Johnson had a 33 yard catch. Trout had a 17 yard catch in the ball game for Shadow Park. Shadow the only really thing they probably did that Coach Mace will want to improve on is the penalties. They had at least 10 penalties in this ball game. Two majors and a bunch of smaller players penalties.

They end up here with 40, 55, 70 yards and penalties on those 10 plays. But they did not turn the ball over here today. Rogers they were led by Casey Jeske on the ground. 13 carries, 54 yards for the quarterback. Tyson Moore had six carries for 41 yards.

Jesky passing 7 of 15, 43 yards and an interception. Deer Fairfield had three catches for 16 yards. Matthews had 2 for 14. They led Rogers in that category. Rodgers in the ball game had 87 rushing yards, 43 passing yards for 130 yards unofficially of offense and for Shadow park they had, let's see here, 120 rushing yards, 172 passing yards for 292 yards of offense in this ball game.

And you've got as nice a facilities in the Spokane Spokane area now as any place in the state.

Well, you're going to have new, by the way, this portion of the postgame brought to you by rbc. Well, for management you're going to have the new facility out in the valley at Liberty Lake, at Ridgeline. So you're going to have a brand new stadium there. You'll have a brand new stadium here, a brand new stadium, whatever they do, whether it's downtown or, or, or at Albie. And so you're going to have three new facilities plus nice existing facilities at Gonzaga Prep, U High and cv.

And CV and U High have brand new turf for all their facilities along with Gonzaga Prep, which is what you need you. You know, when you're dealing with weather that we have over here in Eastern Washington. So, I mean, we're very blessed athletically, whether it's. It's soccer, lacrosse, football, the facilities for basketball, baseball and softball, you know, track and field, all the different things. It's really cool to see and I love what.

You know, let's thank the taxpayers. They're the ones stepping up, helping support the bonds and doing all the things. But having the vision with the school districts to be able to have these kinds of things to support the kids and their sports, I think, think it's fantastic. The other thing that I love, the LED lights, Darren Nelson, the principal, landed on that a little bit ago. We have just four, I think, light poles here, but they're all very bright.

And this field is lit up to the quality of it. I mean, this sandpoint did this at their field, and it was a beautiful field in which to. To do a television broadcast from. And I was doing a remote broadcast on SWX this fall for it. But you can see everything.

And that's the way it is here. You can see there's no dark spots there. There's no right. It's. It's bright enough to accommodate a television broadcast and look good.

It's just a fantastic setup. They've just done a knockout job. I was in awe of it when I came out a couple of weeks ago to test equipment here with John Barrington, the Mead athletic director, who let me in. And it was just a fantastic look at that facility. At that point in time, there was a lot of snow.

I hadn't seen the field because it was all covered up with snow. So this is just two thumbs up from me for the. The folks who were behind this. We used to go back in the grid, kid days. 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade football.

We used to play out here at the middle school. It was a dirt field in about the middle of November. One tackle. You couldn't tell who was who because everybody was covered in mud. So night and day difference, big guy, in terms of what they've been able to do.

And kudos and credits to all the school districts for stepping up. Well done. Yep, two thumbs up for me. And if I had more thumbs, I'd give them more thumbs up. So fair enough.
