And this is I guess the middle day of a big football weekend. There were some playing games last night, or not playing games, but some crossover games last night.

You've got this game, there's some more games that are playing tonight and then you've got the round of 32 and the 3A tournament coming up tomorrow. Yeah, and it started Tuesday night with the three way. That's right, the three way tiebreaker and the two A's which was a real fun, exciting night. And congratulations to Rogers for surviving that three way and earning their first playoff trip since 2015. So yeah, there's a lot going on.

Not just football obviously. Volleyball, girls soccer are all in playoffs now as well, so lots going on for the paper lots going on for. For us media types following along. Before we come back to football, let's talk soccer, because Gonzaga Prep won the 4A districts yesterday, correct? Correct.

And as I've been reminded several times over the past few days, the RPI don't really mean a whole lot, but they are number one in the state in 4A and RPI. So Gonzaga Prep has an honest, legitimate shot at a state championship in girls soccer. And then the threes were decided as well. Meade and Mount Spokane both really pulled off upsets to reach the title game. And Meade won one to nothing.

Taron Gardner, the MVP in basketball the last two seasons for girls basketball in the gsl, scored the lone goal for me to give them the district title as well. And speaking of Taryn Gardner, the letters of intent can be signed next week for college basketball. She committed earlier to Boise State, so she'll be able to sign that letter on Wednesday. And according to Mead's athletic director, John Barrington, she will do so. I've already gotten a memo from him.

They've got four or five athletes that will sign in their ceremony Wednesday morning, bright and early at 8am so I'll have to get up. I'll have to get up during the dark in Coeur d' Alene to drive over to me to be there for the presentation. Maybe not, because the clock, we changed the clock so the clocks go forward. So it'll be 6 o'. Clock.

I was trying to make you feel better. All right, let's circle back to football. Also, State cross country is this weekend. Tomorrow. State cross country is tomorrow.

Yeah. We've got several athletes that are expected to do well. East Valley. Logan Hofste is defending her title in 2A, so. And she's the prohibitive favorite there as well.

We've got a couple of teams that might take mt trophies as well. All right, so let's circle back around to football. Gonzaga Prep's the only 4A team left. Central Valley lost in their play in game on or their tiebreak game on Tuesday. And then we've got two 3A teams involved in the fraca still and the 2A team.

So there will be Clarkston and Rogers there. They are off this week and they don't play until next week. Right. You know, both those teams get a well needed, well a well needed bye week to rest up. But yeah, we've got some great football tonight.

Tomorrow, obviously, Gonzaga Prep hosting Sunnyside here, the big nine third place team. And by the way, I just want to commend all the athletic directors in the three conferences for organizing this, the three way between the Big Nine and the MCC and the Greater Spokane League, kind of coming up with the champions from the east side to send in the state playoffs. I think it really makes a lot of sense. It's a really great competition. It shows that the three leagues are working together.

I know they'd like to do this for basketball as well and hopefully the continued success with football. This is the second year for football, hopefully that will continue and then prompt basketball to do as well. All right, tomorrow you've got Mount Spokane taking on Roosevelt, and as you pointed out in today's newspaper, the only matchup that features two teams in the stop, eight in the top eight in the rpi. Yeah, and that's kind of a bit of a weirdness there too, right, Because Roosevelt is in the lower tier of the Metro Sound. And.

And that was explained to me this week as well, that they're in, I shouldn't say a lesser division, but these are teams that were not as competitive last year and they kind of seeded them sort of like international soccer, where they're relegated to a lower division. Roosevelt was the champion of that division this year, far and away the best team in that league. They're going to come across the state here and take on Mount Spokane. I think that's going to be a good challenge for both teams. Obviously, you know, and you look at it and you look at the state RPI and you wonder, you know, if it means that little, then why bother continuing to do it?

Right? I mean, the idea of looking at this on paper and saying, oh, why are you putting two top 10 teams against each other? You know, not only was it the only matchup in the round of 32 of top 10 teams, but there were only three matchups of top 25 teams. Right. And you look at that and say, that just stands out.

There's something wrong with that. And you are going to be at Mount Spokane for that game tomorrow, correct? I will. I'm going to be covering that game. We have a correspondent who will be covering the Ridgeline game against Seattle Prep.

So we've got both of the big games covered tomorrow. And of course, you know, we're tracking all of the playoff games. There are four playoff games in 1A tonight. There are three playoff games in 2B. There are three playoff games in 1B.

There are four playoff games in total tomorrow. We'll have reports on all of them online tonight, I should say all of them. Hi Greg Deckard, head coach at State Bank Northwest. There's a lot of news lately about the government forcing the big banks to become more stable and customer friendly. At State bank no one needs to tell us that we've been running that place since 1902. In fact, our team has backup plans for our backup plans. Yep, we've got a deep and experienced roster.

We are State Bank Northwest member FDIC and welcome back to our pregame show. This portion of our pregame presented by Eastern Washington university. Gonzaga Prep 81 on the season 8 and O in the GSL, they've won seven consecutive games. Paul They've done it with dominant defense this year only twice. And just, just once in the GSL have the bullpups given up more than 14 points.

Yeah, that was last week against Lewis and Clark in that 35, 25 win. But they're impressive in GSL play. They only give up a touchdown and a two point conversion. Only eight points a game, 10 points overall. Only 231 yards a game on defense.

And they have dudes that can fly around, very well coached. They have a scheme that will blitz, that will do a lot of coverage, kinds of things, but they just get after people. Larry. They do a really nice job of disrupting what you're trying to get done and they make it tough for you to do what you like to do, which is move the ball and score. Sonny side on the season 5 and 4, they were 4 and 2 in the Big Nine, which was a very competitive conference.

Two of the best teams in 4A are Eastmont and Moses Lake, who are in that league. They lost this year. The four losses were to Prosser, who's usually a very good 2A team. Kennewick, who's one of the top 10. Three and then the two for a conference losses to Moses Lake and Eastmont.

They played Eastmont, the number one team in the state, a very competitive game, losing 28 to 21. But this is an undersized team that likes to throw the ball around a lot. They're going to have to have some great success in their passing game in order to win this game here this evening, I would think. Yeah, and I think you're going to see slants and hooks and, you know, kind of quick passes, knowing if they are undersized. They're probably going to have a tough time of, you know, kind of holding their water on pass defense.

Marshall Lobesthal is the head coach. Kuk fans might remember him the the lobster from the day when he played at Washington State. They've won three of their last four games. Their one loss was to Moses Lake. They got thumped pretty good, 55, 15.

But this is a team that's playing pretty darn good. They're not big, but they're quick. They're going to try to be disruptive on defense. They're going to bring a lot of pressure. They're going to have a tough time.

They've got to be able to stop the fullback dive. If they they can't do that, everything goes downhill from there and they only have one player over 190 pounds on their defense, so it's going to be interesting to see if they can stop the dive being undersized up front. They're going to run the fullback. They're going to, you know, it's a triple option attack and then if you creep up on defense, you think you're going to try to stop the run. They do a great job with their passing attack going downfield and big playing you, but you've got to be able to stop the fullback dive and you've got a big offensive line up front with 300 pounders, 280 pounders and a bunch of guys that can run.

And when you bring the quarterback in on the option attack, he can turn in once he pitches it into a lead blocker. So you kind of outflank people, you know, on the that side of the ball. G Prep will not change, but I think they've thrown the ball a little bit more this year than they have in the past, which is kind of interesting. Defensively they're really good and so I think for Sunnyside they're going to have to get rid of the football. They're going to have to run some counters a little, some outside dives and fears, some pop passes, quick slants and screens, maybe draws.

But just trying to block, you know, a defense that is so good at stopping the run and taking you out of what you're comfortable with is going to be a heavy lift for this Sunnyside team. So those teams are going to do what they do. But it'll be interesting to see turnovers are going to come into play and big plays are going to come into play tonight. Let's see if Sunnyside can kind of stop the tsunami of bullpups coming their way. Paul talked about the size Gonzaga prep about a 265 pound average from tackle to tackle.

Sunny sides they run out of the they run a three, three five. So they have five deep backs, their starting defensive line 254 pounds, 170 pounds and 180 pounds against a 265ish pound offensive line for Gonzaga Prep. So they better be pretty quick up front if the because if they're not pretty quick, they're going to get bulldozed here in this ballgame. Last night in the 3A 4A crossovers good news, bad news for the GSL mead blanked west Valley of Yakima University Edge Pasco, but on the other side, Ferris lost to South Ridge of Kennewick and Cheney lost to Walla Walla on the two way side. All right, Sunnyside ready to kick off here. They've got the ball up on the tee. Back deep to receive will be Jonah Keller for Gonzaga Prep. And he's got another man back there with him. Here is the run forward.

Our kickoff presented by Papa Murphy's Change the way you pizza little pop up kick over the line. This will be grabbed as a fair catch taken at about the third 39 yard line. And that's where Sunny. That's where Gonzaga Prep will get it to start the game. Let's pause 10 seconds for station identification and the Arby GSL game of the week from the Frost Brood.

Coors Light studio. This is 700 ESPN 105. 3 FM. All right, so prep with it at their own 39 yard line. First down and 10 here for their first offensive play of this ballgame.

They've got the running back to the right of the quarterback Stafford. He gives it away on a fly sweep running to the right side. It's Keller, got hit in the backfield, spins away, gets over the 40 to about the 41 for a gain. A couple of yards there but good penetration in the backfield there by Sunnyside. Yeah, nice job by the inside backer.

Shot the gap. They did a double a gap blitz. Went right around the center and not able to block them all there. So nice job right off the back bat to blitz up the middle. So second and eight now for the bullpups.

Ball on the right hash at their own 41 again they're showing blitz and somebody tried to time the snap and got into the neutral zone. That was Nenny Ariaga, the 143 pound linebacker. First penalty of the game on Sunnyside and it brings up now second and three. They showed the blitz really well. They went all the way through the line without it snapping.

So That's a five yard penalty. Shame on them. Anyway, good job by them. Five free yard for prep. Second down and three now for Gonzaga Prep.

Now they go out of the pistol. They bring the man in motion. They hand it to the dive back. Moynette, not much there, bangs into the line, gets maybe to the 47, which would be about a 1 yard gain. Again, good job down there.

At the bottom of the pile was Wyatt Mashburn, the linebacker for Sunnyside. Now 3rd and 2. I give Sunnyside credit. They're playing good gap defense right now. They're plugging up from basically tight end to tackle.

All of the gaps are being utilized by Sunnyside. The Grizzlies up front, they're making it tough to run up the middle. Well, Sunnyside listed a 3, 3, 5 defense, but they're actually playing a 4, 2, 5. Now on third and two, they give it away. Moynette and he will with second effort, get a first down run up to the 50 yard line.

A Damon Orthodontics, first down and the gain of three. They have nine guys packed in the box right now. They have two people outside. The middle of the field is absolutely wide open. So you're going to see a play action pass and a slant or a tight end release up the middle.

There is nobody there. If they keep lining nine guys up in the box. Isaiah Dock in the main receiver, split to the left side. There's no deep safety. He's one on one out there.

With a corner. They will I hand it off Moynette and he will not get back to the line of scrimmage. There were several Sunnyside players in the backfield there, including a player which we do not have on the roster, number three, 55 there. That's going to be a loss of a couple of yards. That is actually Marby Arguetta who made the play.

Just more dudes up front for the Grizzlies now than Gonzaga. Prep has blockers. So they've gone up the middle. Now it's time to pull the ball and bounce it outside or do a little play action, throw it downfield. Second and 11 at the 49.

They will go outside, pitch it to Keller around the right side. He goes and he is tripped up as he gets to the 50 yard line. Falls forward to the Sunnyside. Diego Ortega over there is the. He was on an island and made a great ankle tackle.

He did a great job. He's 143 pounds, so you do want to go low there. But he had a blocker in front of him was able to defeat the block. If he steps by Re A gets a touchdown. Nice job of pitching it to the outside that time.

Third down. This should be a passing situation for Prep. Third and 8, Gonzaga Prep at the 48 of Sunnyside. And again they got a man into the neutral zone here. That's their second offside penalty of the ballgame.

They saw motion, Larry, and so the safety coming up was blitzing on that. He sees the motion guy go in motion and he jumps across the line of scrimmage. So they've got to, you know, figure that thing out because that's the second offsides penalty against Sunnyside that's been Gonzaga. Perhaps best offense so far has been the five yard offside penalty by Sunnyside. Third and three now again, nobody down on the line, but they've got kind of an amoeba of a bunch of guys standing along the line right now.

It looks like there's seven on the line now maybe. Yeah, now there's seven. They hand it off inside Moynette. No chance. That's not gonna work.

You got seven guys, five guys blocking seven, and there was no chance of that working. Loss of 2 on the playback to the 45. It'll be 4th and 5. When you have that many people packed inside the box, you've got to get outside, you've got to run. Play action.

They are not honoring the pass at all. I give. I love the defense that they're running right now, but they're leaving a huge hole across the middle which is absolutely wide open. Back deep to receive. Here is Noah McNair standing inside his 15 yard line as Herzog gets ready to punt it away.

Very good punter for Gonzaga Prep. Good punter and kicker. There's snap back face mask high boots it away toward the near sidelines. Gonna hit inside the 20 and bounce out of bounds right at about the 20 yard line. We'll see where the officials put it.

They'll put it at the 19 and it'll be first down. Well, now, now he walks up to the 20, so I think they'll put it at the 20. First down and 10. All his games were over 200 yards. Pistol formation, snap back, they'll hand it off. Riley Martinez off the right side, nowhere to go. So Gonzaga Prep, stiff against the run as Sunnyside was, and no gain on that play. It looked like it was Neil Virg there on the stop for prep.

Sunnyside has to send nine guys basically to stop prep's run. Prep just used their front four with a linebacker scraping because they've got everybody spread out. Four wide receivers, two on each side, you know, with a kind of an eye formation in terms of the outside. So they've done a nice job of spreading this Prep defense out. Four wide receivers, two to either side.

Second down and 10. Scoreless game. Eight minutes remaining. First quarter motion for Sunnyside, left to right through the formation and they'll throw it to that motion. Man at the 20 yard line.

He gets it out over the 25. Up the right sidelines will be close to first down yardage. I think a little bit short. It is Noah McNair who leads the the team and receiving yards. He takes the ball up to the 29 yard line for a gain of 9.

Got a nice block out there on the outside. He was able to bounce it from the inside. You know, numbers outside. Nearly got the first down there, you know, just a yard short. He'll try to run it up the middle.

So third in a yard, trips to the right side. One man wide, left ball in the right hash. The quarterback avalos looking to the bench. Four men down in the line. They'll operate out of the pistol formation.

Snap back, they'll throw it, throw it out to McNair and up the sidelines he goes and he should have a first down. So they tossed it outside to McNair with two lead blockers. Gains two and they advance the chains. They use that short little passing attack as their running attack. And that's how you attack teams that are really good between the tackles.

Bounce it outside. Run zone reads out there. Run your screens, run queen, click slants, bubble screens, all that fun stuff makes it really difficult to defend. Trips to the left, One man wide right ball on the right hash mark. Pistol formation, 1st and 10 centiside at their own 31.

Still have plenty of time on the play clock. Snap back. They'll throw it out quickly to the right side. There's a catch at the 35 yard line and going to the ground right There is the receiver. That was Cody Diddens for a gain of four more yards.

That was just a quick speed out. That ball is out of the quarter. Quarterback's hands are not allowing prep to pressure up the middle because he's throwing the ball at about a second and a half quick route there and kind of slipped a little bit. Was able to still get his hands underneath that thing for a catch. Didden splits to the right side.

Three men wide to the left here out of the shotgun. Second and six, Sunnyside at their own 35. Snap back to Avalos. Rolls to the left side, throws to the left side on the sidelines leaping try incomplete. Trying to get it to McNair, their tallest wide receiver.

Receiver at 6ft tall. Overthrew him just a little bit and it'll be third down and six. Ran a little short corner out there. He had a receiver only about three or four yards downfield. He had a deep route going.

That was a secondary route kind of in the middle. But because of the pressure blitz by the inside backer by prep, he hit the quarterback about the same time he was throwing the ball, hence the airmail. So third and six now and they'll go with an empty backfield. Will the Grizzlies. Three men split to the left side, two men to the right, both on the right hash mark Prep with four man down on the line.

Here's the snap back pressure coming up the middle. There's a throw and a catch across the 45 to about the 46. That's going to be good for a first down to Diddens. Stop made by by Jackson Pierce for Gonzaga Prep. But that's a first down throw 11 yards.

They were just playing zone behind it there. And you know, the Grizzlies were able to find that opening between the safety and the linebacker. And boy, that ball got there quickly. That was a nice throw by the quarterback. Again, empty backfield.

Five wide receivers, ball on the right hash. Three men split to the left side. Four men down in the line for prep. First and 10 Sunnyside if they're on 46. Snap back and a quick throw out to the right sidelines.

Caught across the 50. Spinning away from a tackle and getting knocked out of bounds is Jaden Brionis. Down at about the 45 yard line of Gonzaga prep. That's a gain of eight yards. It'll be bring up second.

Well make it nine yards. It'll be second and one. Head coach Marshall Loba Stall is the head coach, but he's also the offensive coordinator. And this has been an effective quick passing attack. Knowing that he's a little bit undersized up front, he's getting rid of the football before that Gonzaga prep defensive front can put pressure.

So give him eight. Well, no, they do give him nine yards. It is second down and a yard. Snap back. They fake the handoff.

Rolling left. Brionis being pressured out of the pocket. Now throws deep down the middle of the field. Incomplete. As he was looking down there for Seb McGanna.

Pretty good coverage by Ryan Jackson, the safety for Gonzaga Preps. And that'll be third in a yard. Yeah, Ryan Jackson has had a great year. He's. He's a potential defensive player of the year.

He's the guy that makes this defense go from the backside. He can blitz. He's a great tackler in the open field, and he can also cover. Excellent hand fighting between the two, but a great job that time not getting a pass interference on that play. So now third and one Sunnyside at the play prep 45.

We have 5:36 remaining. First quarter in a scoreless game. Looking to the sidelines is the quarterback Avalos. Takes the snap, wants to throw, does short diving catch and a first down. Is that Dittens?

It is. There isn't much of Diddens. He's 54 and £159, but he has great hands and made a nice catch there down at the prep 37. Man, that was very impressive because that ball was out in front of him. He had to lay out and he stretched that body to would be about 6, 3.

But as soft hands, he was able to pull that thing in. That was a rocket of a throw. You know, from that. From that side. Didn't only a sophomore gain of eight on the play.

First and 10 Sunnyside at the prep 37 right/mark running back in motion to the left out of the backfield. Quick throw to the right. That is did and spins away to the 30 and is tackled over there by Pierce. The corner as he gets down to the 29 yard line. But there's a gain of another eight yards.

Just a little option pull, Larry. And all they're doing is running inside then. Then bouncing back outside. So he gets the corner to come in inside because they're playing man over there. And then he's open on the outside.

You miss that tackle. That's a big play, Avalo. Seven of nine, 51 yards so far in this drive. Second and two now at the prep 29. He's got three receivers split to the left.

Side one man wide to the right. That is Jaden Serta, who has checked into the game. Running back behind and to the right of the quarterback Avalos. Down to eight on the play clock. Avalos takes the stamp, wants to throw, looks to the left side, throws to the left side.

Man wide open at the 25 yard line. Cutting in the middle field. It's Magania. He will get down to about the 23 before he is taken down. And that'll be another first down play.

Gain of about six yards or so. Yeah. Three wide receivers to the wide side. Two of them went deep and the other receiver just stopped and turned around. It's kind of a safety valve.

So you're moving the corners and the linebackers and safety's deep with those two receivers. Receivers. The underneath route has been open every time on this drive and that's who he's hitting. First down and 10. Sunnyside at the prep 23 scoreless game.

Sunnyside's first drive of the game. Four minutes left here in the first quarter. Ball on the left hash. They've got McNair split to the left, three to the right. Back to throw.

Rolling to the right is Avalos. Throws it out, has a catch. 15, 10 down the sidelines. Getting down to about the nine, maybe the eight yard line. Pretty good hit there.

Put on the receiver Villanueva, but that's going to be a first down play. Down to the eight. Nice job that time, you know, rolling out to the right side. They pulled a guard there, sealed the end little out route which was wide open again because prep is bailing so deep on the deeper routes. Are leaving that route underneath and there's.

They're hitting them right stride. This has been an impressive drive by Sunnyside. First down goal to go for the Grizzlies at the Prep eight yard line. They've got an empty backfield with five wide receivers. Ball on the right hash.

Mark Avalos again looks to the sidelines, but he's only got five in the play clock, so he'd better hustle up here. He's only got three, only got two, only got one. They're going to run out of time. Delay a game on Sunnyside. Unless they took a timeout on the sidelines.

Nope. Delay a game. The call. So they'll be walked back to the 13 yard line. That's their third penalty already.

They've been picking on him a lot on as the boundary corner over there. But that time, good play to knock that one away. It'll be second down. Nice play by Pierce because he was able to read the ball. Got a hand in there, just ripped at it.

Not a bad throw. Good route by the receiver as well. I like Avalos. He puts that ball. He leads his receivers.

He's throwing guys open right now. Doing a nice job. So second and goal now at the prep 13 for Sunnyside. Again, empty backfield. Five wide, three to the left, two to the right.

Avalos takes the shotgun snap, fades back, throws deep left side corner of the end zone. Leaping grab that is caught for a touchdown, Sepp Magania. That is a 13 yard passing touchdown from Avalos to Magania. And Sunnyside draws blood in this game with 246 left in the first quarter. Give them credit, Larry.

They did. They did. They took what prep gave them, which was a short route. They just worked their way down the field. They converted on third downs.

They did a nice job of hitting the open receiver. They protected the quarterback long enough. Avalos then drops back. It's a nice little corner out over there and lays it out perfectly for for his receiver Magania to make that catch. Alberto Ledesma for the PAT that is partially blocked and it is no good.

13 yard pass. Avalos to Maganya. Magania's fourth receiving touchdown. Avalos 21st passing touchdown. 6 nothing as the PAT was partially blocked.

You're gonna have to make some changes, Larry. You know, on the prep defense there, they've got to be able to cover that underneath route because that's the easiest completion. And they just walk right down the field utilizing that pass prep at their own 37. First down and 10, see if they have more success running the ball than did the first time around. Here comes the blitz.

They pull it, get it outside. Keller around the corner at night he didn't get to the corner. Good speed by Sunnyside. Jaden Brionis knocks him out of bounds at the 40 yard line, a gain of three. Yeah, nice job that time, but that was the right right effort by Gonzaga Prep.

A nice job by Stafford to get to the corner. He pitched it late, he took the hit. Good pursuit by the Grizzlies to get over there, knock them out of bounds on the Prep sidelines. So second down and seven at their own 40 from the right hash, they've got the receiver. Docking split out to the left side and they're going to throw down the middle of the field looking for Keller and just overthrown off his hands down at about the 30 yard line.

That probably would have been a touchdown. Out of a foot race between Diego Ortega and Keller to see who wins. And just off his finger. Well, Ortega got away with a little bit of a grab there, but it was away from the back judge. They couldn't see it.

And I think that disrupted the receiver just enough. Kind of distracted him. They couldn't extend fully to get his hands out there. That wasn't a bad throw. Just a nice job to, you know, play defense there.

Dawkins split to the left side, everybody else in tight. Third down and Seven. They throw it to Dokken on a little slant. Got at the 45, gets to the 50 and is knocked off his feet. Seb Magania, the guy that made the touchdown, brings him down to the gain at 10 to dock it on the slant and Prep gets their first down.

Rake Stroth, who's the defensive coordinator for Sunnyside, he's. He's trying to take that run away. He's taking the A gap away with all those guys blitzing. But they are kind of in jeopardy on the outside. They're not giving their corners a lot of help.

First down and 10. Nobody down in the line for Sunnyside. Pitch to the outside, Keller. There he goes. 40, 50.

Down to the 45, runs to some traffic, gets inside the 40 and is knocked down as he gets to the 39 yard line. Diego Ortega on the tackle, but a gain of 11 and another Damon Orthodontics. First down. He ran into Dawkins who's over there trying to, you know, block the corner and kind of got in the way. Turned back to look to where he was and he was right there.

So that kind of slowed him down a little. Best offensive play for Prep in the game. 11 yards to Calder. First and 10 at the Sunnyside 39. They handed off Moynette, hit in the backfield drop for a loss.

Back to the 41 yard line, shooting the gap. Nanny Arriaga, the 5,843pound linebacker with the tackle for loss. They are not going to give anything up the middle. You're going to have to go wide. You're going to have to stay outside.

You're going to have to pass the ball if they keep doing this. Second down and 12 for prep at the Sunnyside 41. Prep looks to the bench. A minute 45 clock. Running left here.

First quarter, six nothing. Sunnyside. Keller the slot back to the right. Flynn to the left. Moynette the running back out of the shotgun.

Flynn comes in motion. They pitch it to him. Left side. Lead blocker. Moynette 40, 35, 30.

Down the left side 25 and is tripped up as he gets down to about the 21 yard line. 20 yard gain for Flynn on the option. And a first down for Gonzaga Prep. Nice job by Ortega over there playing corner. He was getting blocked by a 64 receiver.

Used his hands, got off the block, was able to low cut underneath the Prep running back and knock him down there. Saved a touchdown. First down and 10. Gonzaga Prep at the Sunnyside 21. Ball on the left hash split to the right is Dawkin they fake the handoff to Moynette, pitch it outside.

This is Keller breaks a tackle, gets to the 20, and then somebody's got him by the leg and refuses to let go. And they bring him down right at the 20 yard line. It was Noah McNair that had him by one leg and could not let Keller go. Gain of a yard. I like these deep.

They're tough. They're not real big, but they fly around. They're pretty darn good tackling in the open field, which is what you have to do if you're going to pack the box, which means puts all your linebackers, your defensive linemen, and even your safeties up there to try to stop the run.

You've got to have guys that can make tackles in the open field. The Grizzlies are doing that right now. Second down and nine for Gonzaga Prep at the Sunnyside 20. Down to 40 seconds left in the first quarter. Motion coming from Keller.

There's a bad snap and it comes into the hands of Moynette, who just falls on the ground at the 23 yard line. I don't know if that was a bad snap or a bad catch by the quarterback Stafford, but either way it's a loss of three yards back to the 23. Yeah, this is a situation now. Clocks running, you know, with 30. Well, I'm surprised they stopped it, that they should keep the clock running on this.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the clock is stopped. Yeah, there you go. Rick o', Connor, the white hat. This, this is an all GSL official crew here. And he wound the clock and that's a good thing.

And looks like prep's gonna take a timeout. Yes, they will. We'll take a timeout. 26 seconds left. First quarter, six nothing.

They are absolutely selling out and bringing nine guys to the point of attack and it should just making it really difficult to open up any holes here. So I wonder if we're going to have a field goal attempt here, you know, by Gonzaga Prep. We will. But first, the first quarter ends our first quarter.

Recap. Gonzaga Prep gets downfield and gets a 42 yard field goal by Herzog to make this a 63 game. That's presented by STCU. Here's a ground ball kick down field that's going to end up going all the way back to the 15 yard line picked up by the deep man. He Runs to the right side.

It's Eli Fernandez. He gets out across the 30 and will get knocked out of bounds. He gets up the right hash mark to about the 36, maybe the 37 yard line. It'll be first down from then. Yeah, Prep loss contained that time, you know, on the left side there.

Good job by the returner for Sunnyside to see it. He came up the middle that broke to his right, was able to get around the contained guy. And that was the reason that Sunnyside was able to get the ball up to the 37. So Sunnyside started the last drive at their own 20. They start now at the 37 yard line, first and 10 from the right hash.

They've got Diddens along with Chris Villanueva. Split to the short side, right, and two men and a bunch set off to the left back in the backfield along with Avalos, the quarterback. He takes the snap, hands it off off the right side. This is the running back, Gonzalez, and he'll get thrown up to about the 40 yard line for a gain of around three yards there. He wanted to go off right tackle, but there was no place to go.

But a nice job of the tackle to seal and kind of sent the D tackle inside. D end inside. He was able to bounce it. Got about three, maybe four yards on that play, but a good job. It looked like prep had a contained.

He just made a nice read and went to the outside. Gain a three. Second down and seven now for Sunnyside. Ball on the right hash again. Two receivers split to either side now.

Motion coming through. Villanueva to the left side and Brionis will throw. Rolling to the left. Gets pressured, gets hit and gets away. No, he doesn't.

Finally knocked down. He got away from the first man. That was Spencer Paulson. But he got hit by the second man, Camden Fletcher and brought down back of the 34. First sack of the game for Prep.

Yeah, nice job. Good coverage downfield on that too, by the dbs. They had everybody pretty well covered up. He rolled to his right or his left. Avalos did, tried to come back inside, but the pocket collapsed by then.

Prep gets the pressure on him and now you got a long third down conversion that they're going to have to try to attempt. 3rd and 13 now at their own 34 from the right hash. Dittin splits to the right side. Three men go to the left. Avalos takes the stamp, rolls to the left side, stops, throws, and has a catch for a first down over the 50 men, wide open.

It was McNair gets shouldered out of bounds in prep territory at the 47 yard line. That's a 19 yard pickup and a Dana Orthodontics first down. He just ran a corner route over there and one of the linebackers didn't get underneath that time. And the defensive coordinator for prep's pretty grumpy about that one. But that was a nice throw running to his left side.

He put some air underneath that ball and got it over the head of the defender and in front of the safety. McNair splits to the left side, trips to the right. First and 10, Sunnyside at the prep 47. Low snap. He'll throw deep down the left side for McNair.

Got him. Perfect throw. Run out of bounds down inside the 25 yard line. It's going to be first down and 10 as that was Jacoby McClellan who made the defensive play. They'll put him out right at the 20.

It looks like little go route down the left sidelines there. Good coverage. It wasn't bad coverage, but it was just a better throw and he put it right on the receiver's hands and he got tackled as soon as he caught it. But it was a big play down there all the way down to the 20. 27 yards on the hook up to McNair.

First down and 10 at the prep 20. Avalos now rolls to the right side, being pursued and he will throw to the sidelines. Incomplete. Had two guys in the general vicinity and it went through the hands of both of them. Diddens and Villanueva.

Coverage over there for prep by Yim, the safety along with Luke Hills. Yeah, good pressure that time by Rivera. 43, the D line. He's done a very nice job retaining turning starter from last year. He was the guy that put the heat on Avalos and that's why that ball sailed again.

So when he's not been accurate, prep has been able to kind of harass him a little bit. But he stands back there and he has time to throw. He's awfully accurate. I have Avalos at 12 of 16 for 131 yards so far. Second down and 10 at the prep 20.

Ball on the left, hash trips to the right. One man split left. Avalos takes the snap, fades back, pump throws, fake. Now throws into the middle of the field through the hands of his receiver. Incomplete.

McNair. I think he wanted to get that ball down into position to run with it before he caught it and it was nearly picked off. Yeah, he had two receivers both running crossing routes. That's kind of that mesh route made famous by the Air Raid. Mike Leach and company.

And he had two guys that kind of got there at the same time. So guess what? You also had two defenders there as well. 9, 54 left. First half.

6 3. Sunnyside over Gonzaga Prep. Third and 10 at the prep 23 receivers split right. One man left ball on the left hash mark again. Avalo stares at the sidelines.

Down to 10 on the play clock. Takes the snap, throws quickly. Left side has a catch. McNair on the sidelines jukes. One man spins, has a first down.

Got thrown forward I think by prep. Down to the nine yard line. That's a gain of 11. And another Damon Orthodontics first down. Awfully nice job that time.

He goes and there's just no room in there. Good job by the prep defense. I think it was William Jackson in there to help on that stop. No gain on the play. Yeah, Gonzalez was trying to find a hole there and he bounced it right.

There was a little bit of a hole left, but really he didn't have much of a chance on that one. A nice job by the front four for Gonzaga. Prey Prep. They sealed those gaps there and really closed quickly. So second and goal now from the nine yard line.

They've got two receivers to either side now we'll go out of the. Well, they still have kind of the offset pistol. The running back set behind the quarterback, but he's to his left. Avalos looks to the left side, throws quickly the left side. And that's intercepted.

Picked off Jacoby McClellan, I think, takes it over the five yard line and is knocked off his feet. No, I think it was Jackson Pierce. So I think it was Pierce, not McClellan. Let's see. Well, it might have been McClellan.

It was either three or five. Now I'm going to say it was McClellan. So McClellan with the interception in Gonzaga Prep with a huge defensive play as he runs it back to the seven. Absolutely, because they were heading down the field again. Doing a great job of using the pass.

Couple of big Pass plays on the Sunnyside sidelines there. But. And again pressure forcing Avalos to throw that ball. So a red zone stop for Gonzaga Prep. And they get the ball at their own seven yard line.

First down and 10 here and they run it and wow, that's not going anywhere. That's a loss back to about the three yard line. That was Keller and there just hasn't been. They've had a couple of big running plays, but for the most part, nowhere to go. That's a loss of four.

They have 10 players within three yards of the line of scrimmage. They have one guy that's playing man coverage on the outside. Everybody else is pretty much in the box trying to stop the run. So second and 14 now at their own three for Gonzaga Prep. And they start motion and now what do we have time called?

No, I think he got motion against prep. It looked like Sunnyside kind of getting ready to shoot the gap, but I think one of the linemen moved and they moved that back half the distance. Yeah, that's what's going to happen. So that ball will go back. This is the first penalty on prep.

So it goes from the three to the one and a half. So just statistically to the two. So all of a one yard penalty there. And so now it'll be second down and 15 from their own two yard line. Stafford the quarterback, Moynette behind him.

Stafford, low snap. This is fumbled in the end zone. Gonzaga Prep, who's got it? It's gonna be a safety. Gonzaga Prep recovered it, Moynette recovers it.

But it's a safety for Sunnyside and they take an 83 lead. Like a two point conversion. We got a baseball game going here, but that was just a missed hands off on the transition here. Trying to, you know, run a little, little option play, but they never got the full back the football and I think it hit his hip, came straight down. He had to jump on the ball.

And that's, that's two and they're going to have to punt the ball back to Sunnyside who just had a red zone turnover on an interception. So they get safety. Sunnyside will get the ball on a free kick and they extend their lead here to 8 to 3 after the safety. That's, that's quite a turn of events here in this ball game. Well, with a all GSL crew here tonight, with the chaos of the last few years, we've lost a large number of officials in all sports.

So free kick here for Gonzaga Prep. Herzog looks like he's going to punt it. And for Sunnyside, they've got two men standing back at about their 35 yard line here to return this kick. Have the option of kicking off the tee or punting it here and Herzog will punt it. And here it is.

High kick spiraling downfield. It'll be fielded at the 32 yard line. Bringing it out to the 40 yard line. Trying to cut outside as Fernandez gives some ground. Trying to get to the corner and gets run out of bounds.

Good hustle over there by Gonzaga Prep. Good kick coverage there. They'll run him out at about the 40 yard line. I'm trying to see who that was. I think those get a hoon over there that ran him out of bounds.

And they will run it. Gonzalez and he gets maybe back to the line of scrimmage. They might give him to the 43 on a little spin there. Good job again by the Prep defense. Vir was there among others.

Gain of a yard. Prep's defense when they play base is better than the offensive front for Sunnyside. But they can spread him out. Get that ball to the outside. They have hurt Gonzaga Prep through their passing Attack.

Second down and nine for the Grizzlies. Ball on the left hash. It throws on 43. Four wide, two split to either side. Motion again.

Villanueva through to the right. Avalos takes the snap, fakes the handoff, fades back, wants to set up a wide receiver screen to McNair that's well defensed by Gonzaga Prep. But McNair using quickness, gets up the sidelines and gets back to the line of scrimmage. Looked like they had him hemmed in for what would have been a loss, but good job by him to get back to the line of scrimmage. And he ran into his own guy.

Cast 71, a big offensive tackle is looking around to try to block somebody. He ended up blocking his own guy, but good effort over there. Good job on the screen. Just ran it to the short side of the field. Prep was able to rally and finally knock him out of bounds.

So now third and nine for Sunnyside. If they're on. 43 from the left, hash trips right. One man wide left snap back out of those, has time, sets up, throws to the right sidelines. Diving try for interception.

Knocked away incomplete. Great job by Yim the safety. Come over and make the play. Preston Yim, the 176 pound senior making a nice diving deflection of that one. Fourth down.

He read the quarterback's eyes that time and had excellent vision. Came from the middle of the field. 42, was playing free safety there. Saw he they were hurting him on that corner route that time. He was able to get flat, get over there quickly, lay out, knock the ball down with two hands.

Nice job by him. That's what you're looking for is a safety to make that kind of coach. So three and out here for Sunnyside. They'll punt it away. I believe.

Keller is back deep to receive. 650 remaining to play here in the first half. 83 Sunnyside over gun saga Prep Prep looks like they're going to try to block this punt. Here's the snap. Back pressure up the middle.

He gets it away. It's going to hit it about the 23 yard line and bounce out of bounds on the far sidelines. We'll see where the officials will put the and they'll put it right at the 23. So that's where prep has it here. First down and 10.

They're diving to maybe the 24 yard line is Keller for a gain of a yard. 10 players all within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. They're saying, I dare you to throw the football because we're not going to let you run the football right now.

And their strategy has worked. You got 625 to go here in the game. You've already had a safety tackle in the end zone. You're up 8 to 3. You're going to have to think about stretching the field a little bit, and that means throwing the football.

Second down, nine now for Gonzaga Prep. Again, just one wide receiver, no deep safety, single coverage. They fake the handoff, pitch it to the outside and getting across the 25, getting over the 30 yard line and a first down to the 34. That's going to be a gain of 10 yards for Keller. The crowd wanted a face mask, but.

But I think Keller almost fumbled the ball. Somebody was in there trying to poke it away from him. They were trying to hang onto the ball with it. That's a great call, Larry. You saw the same thing I saw.

They had a hand on the ball and he was fighting to try to keep that. So he dropped his chin down. So he was running low because the other guy was trying to rip the thing out of there. So that was an excellent job. It looks like we've got a penalty.

Yeah, it is. Face mask. They did call a face mask. I guess that's why he was running with his head down. Yeah, it was just grabbing the face mask.

Now, not, not a personal foul, just a hand on the face mask. So I don't think anything serious. Obviously they're just a five yard penalty, but still the fourth penalty on Sunnyside Gibbs. Gonzaga Prep. Another five yards, first down and 10 at their own 39.

They fake the handoff, wanting to throw his Stafford deep ball into coverage. Incomplete. He was looking for docking, but just kind of threw it to the hash mark. And there were three Sunnyside players that might have been closer to it than docket, but all you had to do was step back, first step and throw the football out there because the receiver was five yards behind.

You know the, the, the safety was covering him and so the safety was able to get back up to speed, catch up to his hip and then the ball was just under thrown. That route was open. They need to do it again. Second down and 10. Dawkins split to the right again.

No deep safety over there. Ten men in the box. They will hand it off. Keller off the right side squirts free. 50, 45, 40 down the hash mark.

There he goes. 30, 25, 20, 20, 15, 10, 5. Touchdown Gun Saga Prep Jonah Keller finally got free as he got a little opening through there and was able to squirt through the line. 61 yards. And again when you're playing 10 guys on the line of scrimmage, if you can break through the line of scrimmage, you're going to get a big play.

And that's what Prep finally did there. They take their first lead of the game here midway through the second quarter. Took him a quarter and a half to get going. Biggest play of the day but a great that time and well blocked on the left side and then he showed his speed and he can motor. That's one thing about Keller, the 6 foot 180 pound sophomore.

Looks like it'll be at the 27 or 28 and that's where Sunnyside will have the ball. Whenever you have a kick return, you know that has to go the opposite side of the field. You just get up field as much as you can. He did a lot of running for maybe a five or six yard return because he tried to slant it to the side that the return was set up. It's not going to work.

Pursuit will get you eventually. The STCU scoring drive recap 80 or a 77 yard scoring drive for Gonzaga Prep. Keller, 61 yards on the touchdown run. Pat good. It's 10, eight in favor of the Bullpups.

Four wide receivers, two to either side. Motion coming. McNair left to right through the formation. Brionis hands it off on a little. I think that was kind of a sprint draw type thing.

And there were three prep players in the backfield there. Virg was there, Aiden Harden was there, somebody else was there. Big loss in the playback to the 24. Tommy Camp came up from his DN position there and he 28, did a nice job of sticking his nose right in there and burying him and pushing him back. And right now Sunnyside's having a tough time blocking the front four of Gonzaga Prep so they can drop seven.

Play good defense there, and they have tightened down their coverage here in the second quarter. Loss of four on the play. Second and 14 now for Sunnyside. Trips right, one man wide left. Brionis will throw that quickly, has a catch.

Villanueva over the 30, gets over the 35, out to the 36. He'll be short of first down, but they gained 12 yards on the play. Will Jackson, the outside linebacker that time, was trying to disguise stuff so he was lined up at the end. Then he ran out to the second receiver. I think he needed to be on the inside receiver because that was a guy that was wide open.

So instead of disguising things, line up, you know, play good defense, be physical at the point of attack, you know, and mess with them. I think you play a man under coverage here and let your safeties read the quarterback. They're going to have a tough time getting off coverage. Third down and two, Sunnyside at their own 30. Six trips.

Four men actually wide to the left. One man wide to the right. Empty backfield for Avalos. Takes the snap, looks left, throws left to the sidelines. Leaping try off the hands of Jaden Brionis.

Incomplete. Good coverage over there from Gonzaga Prep. I believe it was Luke Hills who was over there. So now 4th and 2 for Sunnyside and it looks like they're going for it. Nice job that time linebackers because they collision two of the inside receivers and knocked him off their route.

And you had man coverage on the outside that balls a little bit high. So nice job on on prep on the pass defense. Same formation. Fourth down and two at their own 36 yard line. Avalos hard count.

Trying to get him to jump offside. Couldn't do it there. And now a timeout has been taken by Sunnyside. They're going to talk it over as to whether they want to go for it or maybe punt it away. With 411 remaining here first half, Sunnyside will get the ball to start the second half.

Fourth down and two at their own 36. They will go for it here. The underneath routes, they're going to pass. Yeah, I think that's smart because you don't want to give prep after coming off that big 60 yard plus touchdown run. You know, nice view position inside your 40.

But Avalos is the punter, so watch out for that. Jackson Pierce is back deep to receive. Avalos has his punt blocked and this is grabbed by Gonzaga Prep at the 23 yard line. So they almost got the first one, they got the second one. It was McClellan who had an interception earlier in the game and he blocks the punt here, I think.

And it was interesting because Yim was close. He had a pass breakup, but he nearly blocked the one earlier. So. So they've seen something on special teams. They're coming in.

So now McClellan's got an interception and a punt block. That's a pretty darn good day for a DB. So prep at the Sunnyside 23 here. First down and 10. Moynette the running back behind Stafford the quarterback and the officials have stopped play here 405 remaining to play in the first half.

The chain got tangled up there and you know, kind of, it's like that, that cord that turns into a ball of spool. They had to kind of untangle the chains on the sidelines. So first down and 10 for prep at the Sunnyside 23 here. One wide receiver again, basically 10 in the box here. They handed off Moynette, big opening inside the 15 and it just tripped up.

Saved a touchdown as he stumbles down to the Sunnyside 10. Gain a 13 and a Damon Orthodontics. First down. They found something. Now they're going between the guard, the tight end.

Instead of trying to bounce it all the way outside, they're ceiling with their, their line, their linemen. They're creating a little space and they're working on the undersized defensive front here. Going right off tackle. I had Moynette at minus five yards before that run, so he's up now to eight. They give it back.

No, he pitch it outside to Keller, spins away from one tackle, tries to spin away from a second and as to knocked off his feet as he gets down to the four yard line. But that's still a gain of six yards for Jonah Keller. Well, they're starting to gash, you know, Sunnyside here in terms of running the ball because they still have 10 guys in the box, but they're doing a nice job of kind of sealing that, you know, the outside there.

And they're, they're running physical, making it difficult, you know, to bring down. So second and goal now from the four yard line. Ball on the right hash Keller the wing to the right. They've got a wing to the left as well. And they'll give it to Keller trying to get outside on the left side.

Not a great handoff, but Keller still able to grab it and is able to dive into the end zone for a touchdown. That handoff was behind him. It just barely got to him. Keller did a great job of grabbing that ball and then cutting upfield off the left tackle into the end zone for his second rushing touchdown. And it's 168 Gonzaga Prep.

And he broke a couple tackles too. That wasn't easy sledding at all. Nice job by the way Grizzlies, because they were all over him. But he just fought through it and was able to get a second tackle here in about about two and a half minutes. Herzog for the PAT and a two possession lead.

And he boots it through. 306 remaining to play here in the first half. And our score now is Gonzaga Prep 17 and Sunnyside 8. So just like that, Prep goes from 83 down to 178 up in a very short amount of time. Absolutely, absolutely.

They throw it to that man that is caught and getting up to about the fourth 40 or 41 yard line is the receiver Pierce.

The cornerback takes him down. It's Diddens the wide receiver and again up to the 39 for 5. On the single receiver side they're playing man on the wide side of the field they're playing zone. A little combo coverage there. So you had Your corner kind of locked up inside.

Just ran a speed out. Beautiful throw by the QB to hit Didhams over there for a nice game. Second and five now for Sunny side. If they're on 39, they'll give it away in a little draw. Gonzalez off the left side over the 40 and then he gets hit and doesn't go any farther than the 42 yard line.

He got hit and run backwards. Gain of three though in the play. Brings up third and short. Think of a pheasant hitting your windshield during hunting season. That's kind of what happened when Gonzaga Prep got there.

They got there in a hurry with an attitude and that was a very nice open field tackle. I would say the prep defenders were the Pheasant. No, they. They were the windshield and the running back. The windshield would be be broken by the Pheasant.

No, I got. I hit Pheasant with my windshield. The pheasant broke. Here's the throw on a little. Well, he threw it in between his two receivers.

Incomplete. He had a man on the hash mark running a little slant and a guy running a curl on the outside threw it in between him. So it's fourth down and 53. Arrieta was the guy that got in there. He's not real big, but he's doing a nice job of getting up field.

I saw a little swim move in there and he got right in the quarterback's face and I think that caused a little confusion on that throw. Trying to. Trying to set up here. Another fourth down. That's short that they're forcing, you know, Sunnyside to have to punt.

Fourth down and two. Remember, Avalos is the punter. He is the quarterback. Let's see if they do something different. Nope, he'll get it away this time.

This will hit inside the 30, bounce back inside the 20. Still rolling inside the 15, still rolling down to the 10 yard line. And it'll be killed there. So Avalos gets the punt away and Gonzaga Prep will have it at their own 10 with 206 remaining to play here in the first half this fall. Tackle the roads with proud GSL partner Tirerama and Cooper Tires.

And that's where Gonzaga Prep will have it. First down and 10 here after a very good punt from Avalos, the prep defense looks like they figured out this Sunnyside offense though, at this point in time. So let's see if Marshall Lobest, all, the Sunnyside head coach, can do something differently here. And the prep offense has started to warm up. Each of the last two possessions from their own nine.

They fake it to the fullback. Here's a ball on the ground, who's got it? And it's recovered by Gonzaga Prep. Keller back at the five yard line. They wanted to go to the outside and somebody deflected the pitch.

Yeah, they had three or four players around the quarterback that time and somebody, I think, I think got a hand on him and knocked that ball down. I don't think he was able to complete the pitch. But look like they're going to take a time out here. I think it's Sunnyside because they want it. They want to stop the clock here and see if they get a twofer, as you mentioned, you know, get a stop here after that last play.

So nice job from that perspective. Do you keep it on the ground? Hope you can bust a big play like they did earlier with the run to Keller? Or if nothing else, you make him use their last two timeouts and get the ball back around midfield or thereabouts with no timeouts remaining. I might try to throw a slant route here because that's been open, give him an outside move. They're playing man coverage on the outside, so they're going to be lined up on the inside, influence him to the outside, break across his face, and if that ball is thrown up field, he can catch it and have a step on a corner.

He's going to have a big play. Dawkins split to the left side again, no deep safety there for Sunnyside. One on one coverage out there. Second and four, 14, they give it on the fly sweep Keller outside it, gets over the 10, gets out of an ankle tackle and steps forward to the 15 before he's knocked down from behind. So a gain of 10 yards there, it'll bring up third down and about four.

Yeah, Keller's been the guy here, his couple of touchdowns, you know that he's had he's been able to break tackles. And you know, it's interesting because Sunnyside is there. They're he's just running through some guys making a difference. Down to about 124 here to go and Prep's bleeding the clock. They're going to try to, you know, eat as much clock time as they can here.

I would think Sunnyside would take a timeout if they don't get a first down to try to stop the clock and see if they get the ball back. Prep doesn't have to snap the ball until there's about a minute remaining in the half and they may let this clock go all the way down to nothing and take a timeout at the end of the play. Clock here and that's what they're going to do. And Dave McKenna takes a timeout with 101 remaining to play here in the first half and Gonzaga Prep will have it 3, 3rd and 4 at their own 15. You're at your own 15, so you're not necessarily trying to score here. You have a two possession lead. What you want to do is just get a first down and run out the clock. Yeah, you do. Now, you know, you've had Keller off between the tackle and tight end.

That's been an effective run. The slant is there. Maybe a curl or maybe a double move them. If you've got man coverage and you give him an inside move, he's going to bite hard and then break back to the outside. That's a little fade route, a little sluggo, you know, slant and go.

That's an effective play. When you have man coverage and you don't have any safety help. So you're putting that corner on a big old island out there and you got a 6, 4 receiver, you got a cover. That's not necessarily an easy cover. So Dawkin, the receiver on the season he had, he was by far Prep's leading receiver.

He had 26 catches and five touchdowns. He is split to the left. Third down and four now for the Bullpups at their own 15 and they will fake it to the fly sweep and the quarterback keeps it Stafford over the 30, 35, 40 up the right numbers 45, 50 breaks. Got a block over the 40. Now it's a foot race, flag down.

It's all going to come back. Stafford ends up scoring the first time he had kept the ball all game. That's a 75 yard touchdown. But there's a marker down, back at about the 36 yard line. It's going to be an illegal block on Gonzaga Prep, I think.

Yeah, I think, I think that's the call as well. And I don't know if he's able to get his head in front. It's a block in the back, so they're going to mark it from that spot, which is the 45, which is too bad, but still, that's a huge play. 47 seconds left. You're going to have the ball right around, you know, 45, 50 yard line.

You still, you know, you've really improved your status on that play. Great fake by the quarterback to get everybody to buy. They pulled both guards and they were able to loop around to the outside. Excellent block over there by the tight end as well. And that's what's wrong.

So Stafford, his first carry of the game. It goes for 50 yards down to the 35. It went, went farther than that. It was, it was an 85 yard touchdown. But the illegal block, the block in the back, means Prep now has it at the Sunnyside 45.

So now you're at the Sunnyside 45. Yep. 47 seconds left. You've got a good kicker. If you get down to the 25 or so, you should be able to get three points out of this.

First down and 10 for prep and they will hand it off. Running wide to the left side. Keller got out of one tackle, gets out of another, gets across the board 45 and is pushed out of bounds as he gets down to about the 43 yard line. So that's only going to be about a two yard gain, but a good job by Keller to keep that from being a two or three yard loss. Good pursuit by Sunnyside there.

They're doing a nice job of stringing that play out, forcing them from sideline to sideline. Anytime you can stop a running back from heading up field and forcing him wide, you've won. And that was a nice win by, by the Grizzlies on that run, Sir. Unofficially, Keller 14 carries 106 yards here in the first half. Wow.

Second down, 8 Gonzaga Prep at the Sunnyside 43. Forty seconds left in the half. Here comes the blitz and wanting to throw it as Stafford hit as he throws and throws it short and it should have been intercepted. It hit the defensive back, Seb Maganya right in the hands. He had himself an interception and if he intercepts that ball, he might have had a big return because everybody's line of scrimmage and there's nobody on the sidelines.

Well, and it was impressive too because he's playing press man on a 64 receiver. He's 154 pounds. He got excited, he jumped at the right time, he high pointed the football and he doinked it off his hands. So that would be five push ups, second a third down I should say and eight yards to go here from the 43 motion from Keller. Low snap ball on the ground and it's grabbed by the quarterback.

Stafford bag of the fourth 46 yard line. That's at least the third poor snap of this game for Gonzaga Prep and they have been very fortunate that they have not lost any of those. But now they have it at the Sunnyside 46 and the clock's counting down and a timeout is taken by Sunnyside here to set up a fourth down punt situation. Maybe a block punt attempt here. Interesting.

I can't imagine they'll go for it here. Fourth down and 11 at the Sunnyside 46. If you just punt it. As long as you get the punt away. Yeah.

Even if you only get 15 or 20 yards in the punt, you're going to give Sunnyside the ball around the 30 yard line in that scenario and they'd have maybe 10 seconds. Yeah, but you've done your job. You flipped the field, you really had a touchdown, but you had it wiped out because of a block in the back. Good call by the officials. And you know, from that perspective you've done what you've needed to do, which is get the ball outside the 20, you know, push the football down in the other direction, make Sunnyside go length of the field here in, you know, less than 10 seconds.

Well, I'll tell you, I like their punter.

McClellan doesn't matter. He's a punt returner. That's Herzog. He's got a good leg. He put it and he got that thing to turn over.

Those are really hard to catch, you know, because they're coming down as a spiral. You got to look that thing in or it's going to doink off your hands. I would think this would be a knee down for avalos here with nine seconds remaining in the he's in an empty backfield. First down and 10 and that's exactly what happens. He puts the knee down and that will end the first half of play.

Halftime at Gonzaga Prep High School. We're having a debate as to the long run by the quarterback Stafford, exactly how many yards that was and so we're we figured out that it's 52 yards.

Well, again you're going to the end of the play there or the end of the penalty. I mean this has been going on for the commercial, right? So Dave Dave Nichols and I are debating how long that was. So at any rate, we are at the half year. This portion of our halftime our game recap presented by the Swinging Doors.

Here's a look at how this one went. Gonzaga Prep got the ball to start the game, had to punt right away of Sunnyside. Paul was playing very good defensively. They have been stacking the box with 10 guys and you know, Gonzaga perhaps hit a couple of big plays but for the most part they've struggled to get rushing yards. They've also put the ball on the ground three times and given up a safety.

So they've made some plays. They've done a nice job of taking Gonzaga Prep a little bit out of their comfort zone. So they had to punt. It did. Gonzaga Prep Sunnyside took over at their own 20 and marched right down the field 14 plays 80 yards using the short passing game and in the end the quarterback Ethan Avalos threw 13 yards to Seb Maganya for the touchdown.

Point after was partially blocked, no good and it was 6 nothing sunnyside. Gonzaga Prep then drove into into Sunnyside territory down to about the 25 yard line. So it ended up being almost a 40 yard drive and it culminated with a Matthew Herzog 42 yard field goal that made it 6 3. Sunnyside again had a good drive, got down into the the Red zone. Prep got a stop as the sophomore cornerback Jacoby McClellan comes up with an interception.

And Prep took over at their own seven in that particular situation. But then one of the bad snaps they were able to get on the ball. But it ends up being a safety which is better than a touchdown as it was recovered in the end zone. And so the safety made it an eight, three ballgame. But Sunnyside went three and out on the ensuing possession.

Prep took over at their own 23. They started to drive. It was capped by their big play of the game, The Jonah Keller 6, 61 yard rushing touchdown point. After Good Prep took their first lead at 10 to 8, Sunnyside went three and out. McClellan also had a block punt in this ball game.

As he blocked the punt, Prep took over at the Sunnyside 23. A three play drive ensued. Keller, a four yard rushing touchdown made it 17 to 8. Both teams exchanged punts there at the end of the half. And in its 178 gun saga, prep here in the first half.

But second quarter prep was able to notch up their defense there and they really kept Sunnyside from getting any significant yardage in the second quarter. And they found their offense. So they made some adjustments as they usually do. Good job by the Prep coaching staff. Absolutely.

And they also wiped out a 24. It should have been 248 because he had a touchdown wiped out on a penalty. But what they've done, Larry, on defense is they've kind of squinched down their coverage. They've moved, moved it inside. They're being more physical with routes coming across the middle and they're just making it tougher for Sunnyside to complete passes.

Tonight East Valley of Spokane is playing at East Valley of Yakima, Shadow park travels to Ellensburg, Pullman is at home against Sela and West Valley will be at home against Prosser. 3A 4A side 1 crossover game. Lewis and Clark plays at Eisenhower tonight from yesterday.

On the 2A side, North Central defeated Grandview on the 3A 4A side, Cheney lost at Walla Walla 42 13. Ferris lost in Spokane to South Ridge. Last night Gonzaga or rather U High edged Pasco and Meade defeated West Valley of Yakima last night. Tomorrow the 3A state tournament going on and they have a 32 team tournament. Both Ridgeline and Mount Spokane qualified.

They're both at home. Ridgeline will host Seattle Prep. Mount Spokane at home against Roosevelt tomorrow. Both those games start at 1 o', clock, so if you want to see some high school football, you've got to choose one or the other there. I think Matt Johnson's the head coach at Southridge.

Yes, Matt Johnson, a former Eastern Washington University player, fourth rounder with Dallas. So Ridge side and Ridgeline and Mount Spokane both at home tomorrow on the 3A side. Also tomorrow the state cross country meets for all levels will be in Pasco. And on the soccer front, Gonzaga Prep won the 4A district championship defeating Chijuana yesterday and Mead won the 3A championship as they knocked off Mount Spokane. So that's what's going on around the GSL as in football here tonight from Gonzaga Prep.

Dave Nichols sitting to my right has given me some scores of some of the crossover games happening this evening that ends the season for these teams.

The three A four A crossover Lewis and Clark in Yakima taking on Eisenhower and they are leading that game 40 to 12 in the fourth quarter. Apply Pullman also leading. They are playing Selah. I think that's in Pullman tonight. Pullman 35 Sela Nothing in the fourth quarter, West Valley of Spokane.

They end their season with a 316 loss to Prosser this evening as well. So that's what's going on around the crossover games. Now those are the end of the game, end of the season games. So these teams will not be moving on from those games. That's just the season ending 10th game for each of those teams.

All right, let's take a look at the stats. Now for this ball game I had unofficially, Gonzaga Prep with 178 rushing yards, 10 passing yards for 188 yards of total offense. Sunnyside, I had them at minus 7 rushing yards, 159 passing yards for 152 yards of total offense for Gonzaga Prep. Jonah Keller, 14 carries, 106 yards. Keller nearing a thousand now for the season, he came into this game through nine games with 854 rushing yards and 210 touchdowns.

So that would put him, if my, if those numbers are anywhere close to being correct, at 960 yards on the season and 12 touchdowns. Stafford, the quarterback had a couple of carries for 49 yards, I think is what that should be. So give actually two more yards for Gonzaga Prep. On their rushing total I had them at 189. 180.

So 182 now, right? No, it was 170. It was 70. Okay, so 180 and then 10 for 190 yards of total offense. Flynn, one carry for 20 yards.

Moynette had one 13 yard run, but they've really kept him under control. They have stopped the dive. Eight carries, eight yards for Nate Moynette, the dive back. And they're doing it with their forefront, you know, defensive line D tackles. So prep's done a nice job of shutting that portion down.

Stafford, I had him at 1 out of 3 for 10 yards with Dawkin getting the reception there for Sunnyside. Their running back, Gonzalez, six carries for three yards. Avalos was sacked once for a minus six and then they had the kneel down at the end of the half. Avalos passing, I had him 16 out of 24 for 159 yards. One touchdown, no matters.

One interception. I should say actually 16 out of 25 is what he should be as I neglected to note the interception earlier on. So 16 to 25 for 159 is what I had him at. McNair, six catches for 68 yards. Didn't spy for 36.

Villanueva two for 27. Maganya two for 19 and a touchdown. Brionis, one for nine Sunnyside hurt themselves with penalties. They had four in the first half for 20 yards. I had Gonzaga Prep with one penalty in the first half of play.

Sunnyside one turnover and the block punt as well. In this ball game, the punt they had blocked. Gonzaga Prep did not turn the ball over in the first half. They got a stop in the red zone too with that interception they got. But they also had three fumbles.

Now they recovered all three of them, but one of them in the end zone for a safety. So there's some things to clean up. Both Gonzaga Prep and Sunnyside return to the field here. Gonzaga Prep with their blue jerseys, white numerals, white pants and white helmets here this evening. Well, the adjustments the Prep coaching staff made in the second quarter was good. I liked how they tightened down their defensive backs. They collisioned the routes, running across the middle, and they were able to pressure Avalos with four. You know, occasionally they bring up, you know, a linebacker and things like that.

But they were able to do their job in terms of stopping the run with four players where Sunnyside had to stack the box and bring nine, 10 guys, you know, try to stop it, which is leaving that passing attack. And once they break through that line of scrimmage, if they can do that, there's nobody over the top and they can run a long way. How important is this first drive for Sunnyside? I think it's very important because it'll set the tempo for the second half. If they go three and out, give the ball back to prep.

Remember, seven points got wiped off the board. Could have been 24 to 8. So if they allow basically prep to get back in and have that rhythm going here in the third quarter, I think it's going to be a long evening then for Sunnyside here in the second half. This field runs west to east here at Gonzaga Prep, so Sunnyside will be moving from west to east or from our left to our right here in the third quarter of play. Gonzaga Prep defending the goal at the east, and they will kick it off.

I like the one with pineapple on. I know that's weird. I know. And then Dave's over there giving me the thumbs down. So he's probably a neat guy.

Two of us are giving You Thumbs down. Are you surprised by this? No. Here's the kickoff. Getting out close to the 30 yard line.

And going down there is Derek Hansen. I don't mind pepper. I don't mind pineapple, but. Yeah, a lot of people don't think pineapple should be on a pizza. I just.

He just gives me. Throws his hands up in disgust. Now we have Paul's pizza order for the night. It's first down in ten. I am hungry.

I didn't get anything to eat, so I am. Whose fault is that? Me. I'm just gonna start chewing on my, you know, my lineup. Got a stick here.

That's a not going to work. I'm going to get splinters. First down and 10. Four wide receivers, two to either side here for Sunnyside. Out of the shotgun formation, it's Avalos, the quarterback.

Motion for McNair through to the right side. And the quarterback runs into the running back. Finally hands it off on the draw. I don't think that was the play at all. But the quarterback ended up running into the running back and the running back grabbed the ball and runs Forward to the 30 for a game of a yard.

That's Gonzalez. I admire Gonzalez's courage on that one. That was supposed to be a pass out the flat. He ripped the ball right out. The quarterbacks.

That sounds like our team, man. We were the Bad News Bears. We were terrible in High School. Second down and nine at their own 30 now for Sunnyside. Four wide receivers, two to either side.

Avalos out of the shotgun, accepts the snap waist high, fakes the handoff, wants to throw right side lines and diving to make that play is Gonzaga Prep's defender, Jackson Pierce. To knock that one away. On his knees was Villanueva at about the 36 yard line. But the ball never got there because Pierce with a diving deflection. Now that you have Gonzaga Prep rolling their coverage up there, they're playing much tighter.

Now's the time for Sunnyside, if they can protect to run some double moves because they have both of these corners biting on the short routes so quickly, that'll open up a deeper ball. Third and nine, Sunnyside at their own 30. Trips left. One man, wide right. Ball in the center of the field.

Avalos to throw. Rolling to the left side. Fires to the left, numbers. And it was almost picked off. Ryan Jackson should have had himself an Interception there, couldn't haul it in.

It'll be fourth down. Prep though gets a three and out to start the second half. And that's what we talked about. Sunnyside, you know, can't do that because they, they basically are handing the ball back to an offense that's feeling pretty darn good about themselves right now. And remember, just getting the punt off is been.

Been tough. I thought they should have blocked one earlier. And then you had McClellan with that block punt that really set up that short touchdown run by Keller from four yards out. Still got to be careful if you're prep because the quarterback is the punter. Here's the snap back.

Not a good one. Avalos gets it away high and wobbly and short, short of the 50 yard line and rolls back to midfield and across to the sunny side 49 or actually to the Gonchaga Prep 49 yard line. So not a great punt there, not a great snap. And that, that's what forced the four punt and prep gets it at their own 49. Well, that's because the punter Avalos is doing one step now.

He used to take two or three but because he has to shorten it up knowing that he's going to get pressure up the middle, he's doing a one step kick and that's not really easy to do and get some distance out of first and 10 prep at the their own 49. There's another snap. That's draw this time. It was just a snap drop. That was not a bad snap.

The quarterback Stafford just dropped it, but he falls on it. Fourth fumble of the game at their own 47. Loss 2. Yeah, nice job again. Was 11 who got in there, you know, awfully quickly.

Arriaga came right up the middle from his linebacker position and he was fighting for that ball. But fortunately prep was able to fall on it and Stafford saved a turnover. Second down and 12 out of the pistol formation motion from Keller. They fake the handoff, pitch it outside Keller 45, 50 up the right side 45. Breaks a tackle 40.

Breaks another tackle 30, 25, 20. Inside the 15. Finally tackled from behind, saving a touchdown. With Magania down at the 10 or 11 yard line. First down for Gonzaga Prep.

Man, that dude is explosive. I really like the way that he's running and he's having himself a heck of a game out there and he's only a sophomore. GSL are thinking we got two more years of this guy. That's not going to be a lot of fun because he's explosive. 42 yards on the pickup down to the 11 yard line.

First down and 10 puts him over a thousand. Here's the handoff into the middle and not getting anywhere is Moynette. They haven't really. He's only had one carry that's been with any good yardage. Yes, I believe that puts him over a thousand.

If I'm right with a my yardage numbers. I'm not going to argue with you on that because I thought you're pretty good. But you said he was within, I think 40 yards or so and that might have done it. So There you go. Second down and 10 as they got no gain on that play.

And there's another neutral zone violation. The motion started from Keller, the wing to the right side and somebody jumped into the neutral zone for Sunnyside. But that tells you what Sunnyside's doing. You see how he jumped through the gap. They're playing gap defense, so they're.

Every one of those guys have a specific gap that they're jumping into. That's why it's so hard to run the ball up the middle. That's why the outside and the pass has been effective. Fifth penalty on Sunnyside now. Second and goal from the six and they will hand it to Moynette again.

Into the middle. Breaks a tackle, gets down inside the five. They had him at the line of scrimmage again, but he was able to spin free and he takes it down to the one. That should be good for a first down. It is.

You get four pops at it now. And this is not the scenario that Marshall Lobestahl and the Sunnyside Grizzlies wanted to see here in the first half. Now prep starting to get on their roll. They're awfully tough to stop when that happens. First down and goal from the 1.

They hand it to Moynette and he crashes into the end zone for a touchdown. A touchdown for Gonzaga Prep. Nate Moynette, a one yard rushing touchdown with 9:11 remaining in the third quarter. Gonzaga Prep has taken control of this game, leading 20, 23 to 8. Nice run.

Good blocking. They got a nice little wedge block there. And that size is starting to pay off now. They're doing a nice job up front creating some holes. A five play, 51 yard drive.

Here's the point after by Herzog. It is booted up and it is good. We'll take a break. 911 left. Third quarter, Gonzaga Prep 24, Sunnyside 8.

Here's a kick down field fielded at the 20 yard line and returned by Gonzalez and he gets wiped out. Yeah, Hughes Nihonishu was down there amongst others on that kick coverage and Sunnyside will start at their 27th. They better figure something out offensively here. Well, Jack Pierce was also the guy in there that kind of cleaned up the pile as well. But what Prep has done, which I really like, is they're rushing for occasionally bringing a linebacker, but they have tightened their coverage down.

They are getting hands on the receivers. They're being physical at the point of attack. They're taking away those open underneath routes and allowing the pressure to get back to, you know, the quarterback for Sunnyside. He's not having time to throw. First down and 10.

Four wide receivers two to either side, ball on the right hash mark at their own 27 for the Sunnyside Grizzlies. Avalos brings Villanueva in motion right to left through the formation and he will swing it out of the backfield to Gonzalez. And here comes the defensive end and wipes out that play. Tommy Camp back at the 21 yard line. That's a loss of six yards.

Trust run, swing it out to the running back and Camp. Read that. And I think it was Camp rather than Jackson and it was Camp that brought him down. That's his second tackle for loss for about 11 yards but he read that play beautifully. As soon as he saw the.

The running back flare out there, he got right in his hip and crushed him as soon as the ball got there. So loss of six on that play to Gonzalez. Second and 16 now at their own 21 trips to the right back to throw it as the quarterback. Avalos throws in a little slant caught by McNair, crosses the the 25, breaks a tackle and he'll be stopped short of the 30. He'll get the yardage back they lost on the last play, plus one, so a seven yard gain.

It'll bring up third and nine. Well, he's a big dude getting across the middle. Took three or four or five prep guys hit him and still didn't knock him off his feet. Stopped his progress. But that was a nice little, little route to him.

He just ran an underneath route. The. The linebacker missed on jamming him and that's what open allowed him to get open and catch the football. McNair is their biggest receiver. Six feet tall, 187 pounds.

So third and nine now for Sunnyside at their own 28. Ball in the center of the field. Empty backfield. Five wide receivers, three to the left. Low snap.

Avalos throws right side. Diving catch is made near first down yardage by Dittens. That was a nice catch at the 37. Does he have enough? That's going to be the question.

Gain of roughly nine yards. And he does of Damon Orthodontics first down. And that was actually good man coverage that time by prep. Just a better throw and an even better catch by Diddams. He's been their most effective receiver, doing an excellent job of going down and scooping that thing right off the turf.

And made it by a whisker. Give him 10 yards toward the 38 yard line. First down and 10 again, an empty backfield for Sunnyside. Ball now in the right hash while just short of their own 38. Avalos out of the shotgun, takes a snap.

Face mask, high throw, short right, right sidelines. Has a catch. Up the sidelines, goes back. Brionis knocked out of bounds by Pierce. The corner as he gets to the 46.

That's a gain of 8. Zone coverage in the backside that time by prep. Instead of playing that press man underneath, they dropped back in the zone. Inside backer went with the slant route. The other guy just ran an out route.

He was wide open. Good throw. That's one thing I like about Avalos. He. He sees that out route and he gets rid of the football quickly.

He doesn't waste any time. Avaloson officially 20 of 31. 2200, 178 yards in this one empty backfield. Four men split to the left, one to the right. Ball on the right hash mark Avalos on second and two throws quickly and that is caught over midfield and Pierce pushes the receiver Diddens out of bounds.

They'll put it right at midfield. That'll be a gain of four and another first down. I like to see Pierce roll up and play impressed, man, because that makes a difference. He's got a height advantage on this young guy, but did hims is great quick and he's got great hands. If that ball's anywhere close, he snags it.

7:09 remaining. Third quarter, 248 Gonzaga Prep. Again an empty backfield ball on the right hash. Four receivers split left, one to the right, looking left, throwing left on a little slant. That is caught 40 yard line, 35 down to about the 30.

That is Jaden Brionis. Put him at the 31A Damon Orthodontics first down, again a 19. Brionis came from the far left side, ran slant across the middle. The two inside receivers were able to clear out the route there and and took the defensive backs with him. He just came right up underneath on that and that was a beautiful throw, you know, for Sunnyside on that inside route.

Ball in the center of the field, four men again split to the left, one to the right. First down and 10. Brionis or rather Avalos throws to the outside. Caught inside the 20 down inside the 15 to the 14 goes diddens. That'll be a 17 yard pick up and another first down option route, this time where he ran down, ran a curl and then broke it back to the outside man coverage over there that time.

And so he has to play inside technique which opens up the outside. So I think that was an option route by Didums who read the coverage almost like a run and shoot kind of attack there and then bounce it back outside. On the same page with his quarterback, I have Diddens eight catches, 67 yards here in this ball game. First down and 10. Sunnyside at the prep 14.

Ball on the left or on the right hash back to throw, looking left as the quarterback throwing to the left sidelines. And that is dropped out there. Maganya looking to run with it before he caught it because he had some prep players headed his way, including Will Jackson and Luke Hills who were bearing down on him, ready to deliver a big hit. He had one eye looking at the ball he had one eye look at the sidelines he had one eye looking at defender. He's not a lizard.

He just one eye took off the football there causing the drop. So second down and 10, ball on the right hash at the 14, empty backfield again, five wide receivers, a three by two set. Avalos looks to the left side, throws middle of the field, has a catch. McNair short of the five and has run backward from there. Ryan Jackson had him by the waist and runs him backwards forward, progress to five.

That'll be a gain of nine. I think this is two down territory. You've got, you know, third and short here, but they haven't had a lot of success running the football. They've done a nice job of kind of attacking the middle that where the hash marks are and working that area. They found kind of a soft spot in this prep defense right now and they're working it.

McNair, eight catches, 82 yards in the ballgame. Unofficially, third and one at the Gonzaga Prep. Five again, empty backfield, three to the left, two to the right. Avalos walks up under center now takes the snap, quarterback sneak right up the middle, spins out of traffic and gets into the end zone for a touchdown. Prep was not expecting quarterback sneak there.

Avalos went right up under center, went between center and left guard, spun away from the first initial hit and is able to dive into the end zone for a five yard rushing touchdown. And Sunnyside right back into the game. And they'll go for two here, trailing by 10. Well, that makes sense. Gets them to 16 and then all of a sudden you're just another touchdown, two point conversion away.

So it looks like they're going to come over and talk about it and put together. I don't really know what's going on there. A little substitution thing going here. Trying to get a plane. They bring another running back into the game, Derek Hansen.

They've got only nine seconds to get this playoff. Two wide receivers to either side, motion coming through to the right and they will throw a pass and the receiver fell down initially and then tried to get back to his feet. McNair and the pass behind him incomplete. And so the two point conversion is no good. Timeout on the field.

All right, welcome back. STCU scoring drive recap a 73 yard drive for Sunnyside capped with the Avalos five yard rushing touchdown. Grizzlies back in the game. It's 2414 now in favor of Gonzaga Prep. That was an impressive drive.

Yes. Sunnyside ready to kick off here. Prep kind of expecting an onside kick here. Here's the run forward and a little short pooch kick catch called for and taken back at about the 35 yard line by Jackson Pierce. Well, it's kind of.

They're kind of doing the onside kick anyway because they're just not really driving the ball downfield. It's only been about a 15, 20 yard kick each time, so they're, they're basically, I think that's just the way things are going. But now it's up to Sunnyside to see if they try to get a stop. The Prep offense is kind of feeling it right now. They're in a little bit of a zone on the spokesman review scoreboard 24 nothing Coeur d' Alene leading Rocky Mountain at the end of the third quarter in the Idaho State playoffs.

They'll run it on first down. Moynette has a little seam overright tackle across the 40 and dives to the 43 for a gain of eight. That's bad news for Sunnyside. If they can't stop that fullback dive, they are in a world of hurt. They have done a great job because they have packed the box with all those guys, but I think the big guys are starting to wear out the little guys a little bit and they're starting to open up some holes that's what Marv Harshman always used to say than the end of the game.

The big guys are still big and the small guys are more tired at that point. So that's true. Second down and two again they show blitz. They hand it off to Moynette again, nothing doing that time into the middle of the field. And they will not, I don't think giving back to the line of scrimmage looks like they'll spot him at the 42 yard line.

So that's a loss of yard and that bring up third and three. Yeah, that. You know, again you just, you kind of ran into a wall then and so that was a great recovery. Again. Get outside, fake that fullback dive.

Get outside, get it into the hands of your man Keller. Because if he can find a little sliver, he's going to go a long way. Well, big play here. 425 remaining to play. Third quarter, third and three, Prep at their own 42.

Leading 2414 over Sunnyside. Dawkins split to the left side. They start motion and now Keller stops and goes back to his wing on the right side. Now he starts again. They hand it to him and he gets hit in the backfield and thrown for a loss.

That's the little linebacker again, neni Arriaga. The 143 pounder that shot through there and stopped Keller back at the 38 for a loss of 4 yards. Man, he just flies through that gap. He does such a great job of reading that. And he's so tiny.

He looks like a helmet with a pair of shoes on out there. But he's just a missile and does an excellent job of finding a scene. Knew what they were going to run when they ran that motion kind of fly sweep play and made an excellent play. I really like the way that young man plays. Arriaga senior.

And ready to punt it away is Herzog as Sunnyside gets the three and out. Man deep to receive. Standing back at about his 25 yard line, here comes a little bit rush and a short kick from Herzog. This is going to hit about the 35, bounce back, roll inside the 30 and out of bounds on the far side of the field at about the 25 yard line. So it ends up being a fairly effective punt that time for Herzog.

First down and 10 here for Sunnyside. They had a very effective drive just a moment or two ago. Can they do it again? Now the adjustments for prep come in. They were kind of hurting them on the slants and the curls on the inside.

They were attacking the hashes. Do they make adjustment defensively? Four wide receivers, three of them to the right, one to the left. Ball on the left hasht. Running back out of the backfield in motion, looking to the right, coming back to the left, throwing.

That is caught by McNair or was it knocked away from him on the sidelines? McClellan over there on the coverage. They say a catch made by McNair up to the 32 yard line. Now the officials are knocking it over and it's incomplete. Yep.

Great job by McClellan to knock that one away. He was juggling and so what happened is he had a little juggle. McClellan got the arm in there, kind of did an arm over move and was able to move that ball a little bit. So he never had possession of that thing and pushed him out of bounds. Nice call.

Good job by this crew to get. Get together and make that and get the correct call. Second down and 10 trips to the right. Ball on the left hash. One man wide to the left.

Avalos running back behind him and to his left, wants to throw, looks right, throws right into the middle of the field. Knocked away. Incomplete intended that time for Maganya. That is Pierce coming up from his cornerback. Sophomore knocking that away.

So two passes broken up by sophomore corners. Pearson, McClellan, it'll be third and 10. That was a great read. He saw they were running a quick slant. He just beat him to the spot.

Was able to get a hand back inside, not that thing away. So they are reading routes better here in the third quarter. Just doing an excellent job. And they've gone man on these the three wide receivers out here on the trip. Set.

So now 3rd and 10 and they want to throw. Here's a little swing out of the backfield. Gonzalez up the sidelines now, cuts toward the middle of the field. And I think he would have been better off staying on the sidelines. Yep, he crosses the 30, gets knocked off his feet as he gets to the 33.

Gained eight, but it'll be fourth and two. And guess what happened in man coverage. Everybody got covered up except the back coming out of the backfield. Linebacker ended up doubling one of the guys and that was his man. So they forgot about the running back.

If he would have stayed to the sidelines he would add a first down, no problem. Fourth and two, they're going for it. They're on 33 trips to the right. One man wide to the left. Avalos did a hard count and what do we have?

False start on Sunnyside. Wow. And that's going to cost him five yards. Nope. Side Gonzaga Prep.

Wow. So a five yard penalty on prep and that gives them a sunny side. A Damon Orthodontics. First down up to the 38. The Headlinesman, the guy next to the chain and the marker over there pointed against Sunnyside.

It was the. The umpire that came up and said nope because he. They may have had somebody that caused the other guy to move on Prep sidelines. So first and 10, Sunnyside at their own 30. Eight trips to the right, one man wide to the left, and they'll throw it to the left side on the out to the sidelines.

And that is incomplete through the hands of the wide receiver. Making the diving try. McNair. And it'll be second and ten. Avalos that time.

Rush that didn't have good, good mechanics, didn't plant that back foot. That ball kind of sailed on the receiver. Tried to make a heck of a catch over there on the Sunnyside sidelines. Just couldn't pull it in. Avaloson officially 25 out of 40.

235 yards. Second and 10 at their own 38 to 26 remaining third quarter. Here's a give on a draw. Gonzalez squirts out to the 40 and maybe gets to the 41. We'll see where they give him.

It'll be just to the 40 for a gain of two. And now it'll be third down and eight. Rivera, the fine D tackle there, did a very nice job of reading out. He came up field, then he felt the run pressure, then dropped back down towards the line of scrimmage. Kept that shoulder, you know, square to the line of scrimmage and made that play.

That was a very nice read by number 43. So three receivers split to the right, one to the left. Ball near the center of the field for third and eight. Sunnyside at their own 40. Out of the gun.

Avalos running back to is right in the backfield. Prep shows a four man rush. Avalos rolls to the right, throws to the right, has a catch at the 45. Villanueva pushed out of bounds short of the first down. Hustling over there was Verk to knock him out of bounds at the 47, a yard short of the first.

And so now it'll be fourth and one inside receiver and an out there. Just a nice job of buying time. Kind of a half roll by the quarterback and he put that right in his hands. I really like the way this young man throws. He's got a quick release.

He identifies the open guy and if he's not getting pressure, he's really accurate. So fourth down and two, or fourth down and one, I should say, at the 47 yard line and a prep player jumps into the neutral zone. That'll be their second five yard penalty here. That's just holding your water there. And he went with a hard count and he got the DN for prep to make that change.

I think that was Fletcher over there, the senior, and he's going to be as upset about that as anybody. So five yard penalty puts the ball now in prep territory at the 48 yard line. And another fourth down conversion for Sunnyside. They'll have Brionis and Diddens split to the right side. McNair and Villanueva split to the left and one other receiver.

So they have three men out to the left side here. One man's on the outside near the Sunnyside sidelines on the far side of the field. Snap back. Avalos looks to the left side, throws to the left side, has a catch. Inside receiver, Villanueva 40, 35 down the sidelines, knocked out of bounds.

McClellan knocked him out as he gets down to the Gonzaga prep 33 yard line. That's a gain of 15 yards for Diddens in a first down. Or Villanueva, rather, in a first down. Nice route by Villanueva. He came up field, then broke it hard to the outside.

About a seven yard out route. Beautiful throw by the quarterback. Hit him right in the hands there and gave him a chance in stride to get up field. And that was really a difference in that play. Very nice conversion.

First down for the Grizzlies there at the prep 33. Again an empty backfield. Ball in the left hash. Three receivers go left, two to the right. Now motion Villanueva comes through the right.

Brion or Avalos back to throw, looks to the left. He will run. Gets inside the 30 and dives forward to the 28 yard line for a gain of 5. One of the first times today he has taken off and run in a scramble type situation. He gains five.

He identified man coverage. Everybody had their back turned to the play. He saw that he was able to break penetration. He had four guys rushing, seven guys dropping. And that's what you do if you get in trouble at quarterback.

Nobody open get up field, get down. Protect yourself. Good job by Avalos. 24:14 Gonzaga Prep with a lead inside of a minute remaining here in the field. Third quarter, second down, five Sunnyside.

Avalos to throw. Fires deep down the left side. Man is out there. It's overthrown. Incomplete.

Looking for McNair. Oh, he got it. McNair. A touchdown. I saw the ball come loose there.

I didn't think he caught it, but McNair did. And then he, I guess once he established himself inbounds, he then put the ball on the ground and it's a touchdown for Sunnyside. And that is a 28 yard passing touchdown. And just like that, the Grizzlies are back to within four. And that was a double move, Larry.

That was a hook and go. Got the corner to bite a little bit, but he was able to get, you know, basically head, head side, shoulder to shoulder. And Avalos threw a perfect ball to the outside shoulder. Basically threw him open there. And he just, I think he just got in the pylon, got a foot down and was able to, you know, to catch that, corral that and score.

And so now they try the extra point, the kicking extra point here. Snap back, ball spotted kick is not good. He didn't have enough leg on it. I don't think that was blocked at all. That was just a short kick.

So the kicker doesn't have the leg for the 20 yard extra point. And it's now a 24 to 20 ballgame. Sunnyside scored too straight though, Larry. You know, in terms of touchdowns here, 525 to go, you know, on that five yard quarterback run and then this beautiful pass. So the STCU touchdown drive.

Motion coming from Keller. They fake the handoff, pitch it outside. Keller 40, 45 up the right side, is tripped up by an ankle tackle. Well done as he gets to the 49 yard line. I think that might have been McNair over there to bring him down.

The officials put him at the 48. Still a five yard gain. Yeah, that was a good job. He was able to get off the the block, you know, on that side over there and just kind of dive out and grab his legs there. But that was a big play because you're starting to see the momentum.

I don't know. They might. Yeah. I think they're telling those guys to kind of go away. So they may be saying something, the officials, something could happen.

They're trying to get them out. They're not going to start the game until those people are removed. Interesting. I've done that in baseball. And somebody, Somebody's going over there to say, fellas, I hate to tell you this, but you got to go in the stands.

You're not game personnel and you probably said something that wasn't appropriate and you need to leave. And that's what they're doing. Never fails. There's always a couple of parents out there that do that kind of stuff. That's why we got a shortage of officials.

And so they're over there to herd the two people back to the Sunnyside stands. They were, they were not on the field of play, but they were on the. They were on the track down around the end zone area. So now we're ready to go. Fourth quarter of play.

Here's a handoff to Moynette. He has blown up. And there he is again. I love that. Bringing down back of the 45 the little linebacker with a loss of three on that run to Boynette.

He may be 145 pounds, Larry, but he's got a heart that's about 260. He does not mess around. He's just a bull. He sees the gap and he's so good at getting through that thing. And he's impressive.

I like the way he plays. So third and eight now for Gonzaga Prep at their own 45. Ball on the right hash mark, motion from Flynn. They'll pitch it to him on the option to the left side. 45.

50. Got outside 45. Gets the first down to the Sunny side. They'll put him at the Sunnyside 46. On third and eight, Flynn gets nine.

It's a Damon Orthodontics first down. That was a nice job of getting over there. An excellent block by the lead blocker. Was able to cut down the linebacker over there. And that was just enough for him to get up to speed, get to the first down stick and pick that up.

And a huge first down for Gonzaga Prep. First and 10 bullpups at the Sunnyside 46. They fake it to Moyne. No, they gave it to Moynette. And he gets by the initial man and dives across the 45 and gets down to the 44 for a gain of two yards.

That fullback dive is to keep that defensive line honest. That's really what it's there for. And. And that. That has really hurt teams over the years if you don't defend it.

Sunnyside has defended it very well tonight. Second and eight at the Sunnyside 46. Keller starts in motion, then stops from the left side and now goes back to the wing, to the left side. Now he starts motion again and they fake the handoff. No, they do give it to Moynette and he'll get through off the right side.

Down to the 40 yard line for a gain of four more yards. Bring up a big third and four here, as in on the tackle. That time for Sunnyside was Nicholas Palomares. A couple of things here. One that keeps the clock running.

You're down to 10, 25 in the game here. And it also softens up that defense. You're trying to get a little bit more size in there. You've got a Sunnyside you're down at. They got 10 players.

2, 4, 6, 8. There's only 10 players. They only have 10 players on the field right now. 3, 6, 9, 10. And time called by Sunnyside.

You get wide, you fake that fullback dive to the outside and you go to the wide side of the field.

But you get outside the tackle. So fourth and two. Gonzaga prep at the sunny side. 38 from the right hash. They give it to Moynette, he'll have a first down.

They get the rugby scrum going. He gets down to the 35 yard line. That'll be a gain of three yards. They went opposite of where they've been running. They've been running left with that.

That dive. This time they went right. They faked it. Quarterback read that. There was a hole there.

That's a good read because that's a read option. That's what they do unofficially. 18 carries, 20, 29 yards is what I have Moynette for. First down and 10 prep at the. At the Sunnyside 35.

Now they can work on the clock a little bit with a fresh set of downs. Clock counting down. 9, 15 left. Fourth quarter, they again give it on the dive. Boynette squirts through a little seam and gets down to the 40 yard line again.

It was Ariaga on the tackle, but it wasn't in the backfield. It was five yards downfield. An effective first down run of five for Moynette. Yeah, they're just pounding that that side right now. And there you can see Sunnyside.

Their defense are getting a little tired. Hands on hips. They've got 10 guys still packed in the box there, but prep is slowly using that size to wear these guys down. Moynette now 19 carries, 34 yards. They'll fake the fly sweep.

Quarterback keeper off the right side has a seam 20 and it just tripped up by an ankle tackle as he gets to the 17 yard line. McNair brought him down, but Stafford squirts free for a gain of 13 and a first down. He was a shoelace away from scoring on that one. Just a Great job by McNair to get off the block and still make the tackle. Over there.

They had three prep blockers out in front of him. He scores if he steps out of that tackle. First down and 10. Gonzaga prep in the red zone at the 17 yard line of Sunnyside. Motion from Keller.

Then he stops again as they start to the right. Now they shift the formation. Everybody gets set again. Now they go to the Pistols motion, this time coming from the right. And they will give it inside Moynette.

Nothing there. They'll do the rugby scrum again and get down to the 14 yard line. The hit was made at about the 16, but prep just with bigger players, were able to get the alignment behind and push things forward for a couple more yards. Everybody's played beanbag football in their front, you know, in the living room, and that's exactly what that was. You just get as many people the back of the pile and you keep pushing and hope that the running back keeps his feet off the ground.

And you're going to always get a couple more yards. That was a nice gut. Good push by Prep. Dawkins splits to the left side. Granger is the wing set to the right.

He's in motion. They hand it to him on the fly sweep. Trying to get outside, get by one guy, gets to the 15, to the 10 and is pushed out of bounds as he gets near the five yard line. It was Zariaga again that had a chance at him back at the 20, but a good chance job by Granger to get away and get a first down down to the seven yard line. Ariaga went low and he just stepped out of that tackle.

And Ariagi was upset. He slapped the turf when he got off the ground. There he was in A position to make that play. And he knew he should have done it just a little bit better. Effort by the prep running back Granger.

The wing to the right, they bring Keller in motion to the left. They hand it off off the right side and Moynette will get down to about the five yard line, maybe the four and they'll put him at the five. That'll be a gain of two more yards. They've done a nice job running the on this drive between the tackle area. It's really been the difference and that's opening up this offense now because they're able to get outside because they have to honor the inside run again.

Doc and the wide receiver second and goal now from the five again they start the motion from the right side with Keller. Then he stops and everybody looks to the sidelines. Still clock. Yep. Still 15 on the play.

Clock. 7:05 on the game clock now Keller in motion again. They hand it to Moynette off the right side, gets cut down as he crosses the five and ends up at the four. It looks like for a gain of a yard as feet went out from underneath him. If he's able to keep his feet, he's probably going to score in that.

But he just, he saw the hole, his body was leaning inside. He tried to make the cut outside feet went out from underneath him and the five yard line gets credit for the tackle. So third and goal now from the four yard line. Doc and the receiver splitting to initially go into the left side. Now we'll run over to the right.

They still have plenty of play. Clock down to 12 seconds. They're at the line of scrimmage and timeout taken by Gonzaga Prep here with 6:27. They had some confusion there initially and so they go ahead. Take a timeout here.

It was grabbed by Flynn. Dockett thought it was coming to him and Flynn got in there and stole it away from him. And Flynn gets the receiving touchdown and Prep takes a 10 point lead. And what did I say on third down that would be a good thing to do. Throw the play action pass.

That's exactly what they did. Kudos for Paul. So a four yard passing touchdown to Flynn. Stafford's first touchdown of the game. Just his second completion of the game.

They worked the middle. This time you get got to give Sunnyside credit. They have kept that fullback dive, pretty much limited most of the game, but they use that and then they came back out, got everybody sucked up, ran a play action pass and Flynn stole away from the other receiver for the touchdown.

Sunnyside at their own 37. On the left hash. Two receivers either side. McNair in motion left to right through the formation. Avalos will roll to the right side.

Being pursued, throws downfield into coverage. Intercepted 50 yard line. Running it back 40. 35 down inside the 30 and finally tackled. Is Jack Pierce good for him?

So both sophomore corners, Pierce and McClellan have come up with interceptions in this game and this one may have just put a nail or two in the coffin as Pierce returns it to the sunny side 30. Arietta was the guy that caused the pressure on on Avalos and he blasted him and he was just trying to make a play, throwing that ball downfield. Got a little bit of air on it. I think it took off because of the pressure. Great read by by Pierce to kind of catch that at the highest point.

And a nice return as well. Second interception of the game of Avalos. First down and 10 prep at the Sunnyside 30. Handed to Moynette. Big hole, but he gets only to the 25 yard line because the only guy left there to fill the hole was the safety McNair who makes a sure ankle tackle down at the 25.

These safeties and corners have been really really good tonight in open field in terms of tackles. They have done a nice job with nobody else around. It's them or they're standing in the end zone and most of the time time it's them. Second down and five after that five yard pickup. Keller starts motion to the right, now stops and goes back to his wing on the left side.

See if they put him back in motion again or if they run motion from Flynn on the right, motion from Keller again to the left and they'll give it inside Moynette, he'll crash down to about the 21 yard line. Thrown down by the guy who's been kicking off just Josiah Herrera. But again a four and it brings up third down in the yard. I like Moynat because he's got that old fashioned kind of neck brace. You know that rolled thing that everybody used to wear back in the 70s and 80s and now nobody wears it.

He wears it. He looks like Eric Dickerson with all the padding on there. And if you just run like him, that'd be really cool. Well, he's had a great year in this game. 24 carries for 49 yards.

He just hasn't had a lot of room with this Sunnyside team stuff in the middle. Third down in a yard. Here comes the blitz. They want to throw deep down the right side. Looking for docket in the end zone.

One handed catch try. Did he get it? He did. Wow. Unbelievable catch.

Touchdown. An unbelievable one handed catch by Docking in the end zone. The officials discuss it should be pass interference on the defense. There is a flag down. Let's see what this penalty is.

Daken with a circus catch. A great one handed grab. He says touchdown. Officials say pass interference. Sunnyside.

What a play. I mean one handed. That's the reason they had PI because the DB had his inside arm. He went up with his right hand. Larry, the inside army held.

He was able to not only catch it with one hand, but get one foot in the back of the end zone. That. What a beautiful throw by Stafford. He put that right near the pylon. And an even better catch by Slant.

Holy smokes. So a 21 yard pass there to dock. And for the touchdown here's a bad snap. It goes over the head of the holder. But flags are down and the play is stopped.

And it's a false start on Gonzaga prep. So that's a penalty that saves them because that snap rifled over the head of the holder and it was rolling free back at about the 25 or 30 yard line there. Yeah, but that was a big play and they did it passing and they basically had man to man coverage back there and heck of a battle. So here's the PAT snap. His back ball spotted and Herzog stays perfect.

And Prep has made some changes. They've gotten some big plays. They've had to throw the ball a little bit more maybe than they wanted to. That's because.

That's because Sunnyside has dictated the tempo by bringing 10 guys in the box. McNair and Briona split to the left side, three men to the right. Open or empty backfield now for avalos. I have 28 out of 40, 44 passing, 285 yards, a couple of touchdowns, two interceptions. Avalos wants to throw short on a slant caught at about the 40 yard line.

And Diddins is thrown down. Given to the 41. Gain of about 4 yards is all on the play. Tackle made by Preston Yim. Goodbye.

Good job by Yam. Good break on the ball that time. He was in zone, but he matched up as soon as he saw the receiver run across his face. And he got there about the same time the ball did good. Sure handed tackle, Diddens.

10 catches unofficially in this ball game for 78 yards. Second down and six. Now Sunnyside at their own 41. Shotgun snap back. Here comes pressure.

In the face of pressure, Avalos throws into double coverage in the pass. Incomplete. Looking for Dittens. But Yim was back there along with Burke, the linebacker given double coverage. So it'll be third down.

Jackson has a pass broken up. Yim has two passes broken up. Pierce has two passes broken up in an interception. McClellan has an interception and a block punt. These guys have done a nice job all night long, making plays, getting in the way.

Third and six, Sunnyside at their own 41. Empty backfield again. Five wide receivers, two to the left, three to the right. Avalos takes a waist high snap, throws quickly, left side. That is caught, Brionis, and he may have a first down.

Let's see they give into the 47. He's run out of bounds, but the officials say his progress was stopped inbound. So the clock runs and now the officials want the clock stop because it will be a first down. I believe it should be. I thought he had enough room.

I thought it was past the, you know, the 43. Closer to the 42, but they moved it right to the 43, but that was enough for the first down. Nice job. 47. Gain a six on the play.

And so first down and 10. Now at their own 47. 40. Sunnyside. Four receivers go to the right side.

One to the left. Again the empty backfield for Avalos. Takes the snap. Face mask high. Throws quickly to the right side.

Has a man open. That is caught. Brionis again into prep territory. Down over the 45 to the 44 yard line before he is brought down once again. Luke Hills there, gain of nine.

Boy, they've been busy on the outside. That was a nice little route. He just kind of a hesitation and then just ran a little mini win wheel over there. And beautiful throw by Avalos. As soon as he came out of his break, ball hit him right in the hands.

Avalos over 300 yards passing. Now, according to my stats, second and one at the prep 44. Ball on the right. Hash. Avalos looks to the left, throws to the left side, has a catch.

McNair inside the 40, trying to make the corner. McClellan missed and he can't do it. McClellan with a good job to bring him down. McNair gets to the 35, though. That's a gain of nine.

And another first down. Nice job by MC. He was faking like he was running a fade route. Then he broke the route off and turned right around again. Avalos has the timing.

He works with these receivers very well. That ball is thrown before he's coming out of his break. Those receivers are catching it when they're turning around. That's hard to defend. 10th catch for McNair in this ball game.

1st and 10. Sunnyside at the 35. Here comes the blitz. And getting away is Avalos from the first rush. And he's finally stopped by about the Third guy in there on him as they brought a blitz and a couple of guys just ran right past him before Rivera, the defensive tackle finally brings him down at the 38.

Loss of three. Man, Avalos looked like he was in a snowball fight there. He was getting hit from every side. Finally the big, you know, the big boulder came down and blew him up. He got popped three times before they finally knocked him down there.

That was impressive. Third down, second down and 13 after that three yard loss. Empty backfield again. Two receivers left, three to the right. Down to two and a half minutes to play here in the fourth quarter.

Avalos takes the snap, throws and has a catch. McNair inside the 25 is taken down as he gets to about the prep 22 yard line. Verk in there again on the tackle, getting some help from Will Jackson. But that's a first down play, down to the 23. Man, that was a nice route because he ran down and just found the hole between corner safety and linebacker.

And Avalos just feathered that ball in there. That was beautiful. All clocks down to 215 here left in this game. Sixteen yards on that pickup. First down and prep goes into the neutral zone.

So that's going to A stop the clock and b give them 5 yards. It'll take it down to the 17 yard line. Gotta give credit to Marshall Loba Stall and his staff. He's got this team playing well. They've won three of their last four.

They're competing very well in this game. And this is an offense that's not a lot of fun to play against if you're to defensive player. Remember how many times is his LC given up points over 10. One now two guns egg and prep. Guns like a prep.

I'm sorry. And that was LC last. Yeah. Given up over 14. They've only done it twice and once in conference play.

So. Good job all year long by the Prep defense. Empty backfield here. First and five now from the 17 yard line. Snap back.

Avalos looks to the right, throws to the right, has a man open and that is caught. But I think it was. I was trapped. I think that bounced. I don't think he caught that.

Yeah, I think they're going to give it to. Are they? Nope. Incomplete pass. That.

That was a great job. But what he did is he kind of, you know, got his arms around the ball but you could see the skip, you know, that that was a good job. This crew has done a nice job tonight in terms of, you know, how they've handled all the situational stuff that's come up in this game, kudos to them. 33 out of 51 passing now for 200329 yards. Four receivers go to the right side, one to the left.

It would look quickly to the left. Now running to the right of Savalos and ran right into a sack at about the 28 yard line. Coming in off the edge that time was Tommy Camp. Yep, he's played well. He's had a couple of tackle for losses.

Think that's his sack and a half because he had a half sack along with another guy earlier. So he's made a lot of plays. Behind the last scrimmage. Lost back to the 26 yard line. So now it is third down and about 13 here.

Here's a throw on a slant caught. That's McNair inside the 15 and he's gonna have first down yardage down to the 11 yard line. So that's gonna be a pickup of about 15 yards and a Damon Orthodontics first down. Boy, I really like McNair. He caught that with two hands right in stride, was able to split right between the the corner in the safety, get some positive yards before they knocked him down and knew right where that first down stick was and found it.

He's impressive. First down and 10 at the prep 11 yard line. Down to 55 seconds remaining to play. Prep leading by 18. Avalos throws on a slant high over the head of his intended receiver.

That was Brionis and it'll bring up second down and 10 here. Not good mechanics by Avalos that time. He just kind of flipped that ball out there instead of planning this foot. When he has time and he can set his feet, he's as accurate as any high school player I've seen in terms of quarterback this year. And when he kind of shuffles his feet and doesn't set and have the good mechanics, ball sails on.

So second down and 10, 50 seconds remaining to play in regulation time. Gonzaga Prep 38, Sunnyside 20. Really from a defensive standpoint, all the time that they've used on this drive has been a good thing for prep. Three receivers go to the left, two to the right, snap back to Avalos. He sets up throws again on a slant that is caught and a big hit.

And then the ball popped loose. Yim put a big hit on Dittens and knocked the ball away. And Diddins is slow and getting up. Remember, he's 5ft 4 and 169 pounds. And Yim just ran through him with A shoulder, big hit.

Man, that. That was impressive. That showed a lot of heart. Okay, let's. Let's do this one.

He had a little bit of alligator arms. That was a velociraptor attempt on that he felt. And that's the pressure. That's what the DBs have done a great job for prep. They've been blowing these receivers up.

He didn't get those hands fully extended. He was trying to protect himself. Went off his fingertips. So 4th and 10 now from the 11 yard line for Gonzaga prep or for Sunnyside at The Gonzaga Prep 11. Avalos the quarterback.

Two receivers go to the left, three go to the right. Avalos takes the snap, looks left, throws left. Caught McNair on the slant. Diving end zone. Touchdown for Sunnyside.

So McNair takes that one in. An 11 yard passing touchdown. His second reception for a touchdown of the game. His 13th catch, unofficially overall. And Sunnyside gets a touchdown to make this look a little closer.

It's 38, 26, 36 seconds remaining. Now. That was a nice throw and a nice run. He broke a couple of tackles. I think that's Avalos's 23rd touchdown of the season.

Nice job by him. Those guys work together very well. That was impressive. And I think they got. They're gonna go for two here.

They will go for two. This is McNair's last game. He's a senior, so good way for him to go out with 13 catches and 161 yards unofficially. Wow. Avalos is a junior.

I have him at 355 passing yards and diddens a sophomore, 10 catches, 78 yards. They go for two. Villanueva in motion. They'll throw to the middle of the field. And that is caught for the two point conversion by Brionis.

And now we have a little dust up and a couple players go to the ground and we have some, some rough feelings here. And they get everybody away. And a hanky a flag did come in. Carter Halbert and one of the Gonzaga prep players went to the ground and the officials Will talk it over. The two point conversion is good.

The pass to Brionis 38, 28. And the officials will discuss and it'll be a penalty on Sunnyside. It'll be enforced on the kickoff. So they'll have to kick off from the 25 or 30 yard line here. The STCU touchdown drive recap is 63 yard scoring drive.

Avalos to McNair. The 11 yard touchdown. Two point conversion good. 3828. Gonzaga Prep give that, give that Sunnyside offense a lot of credit.

That was a grinder in terms of what they did. They had some receivers take some shots. Prep sat back and kept everything kind of underneath and rallied in the football and basically allowed Sunnyside to kind of run the clock out, you know, on that particular draw. So, you know, give them credit. Sunnyside did not quit so well coached football team.

They have played hard from start to finish and they had a good game plan to bottle up Prep initially, you know, with those 10 guys coming after the run. So a dead ball, personal foul. That was the dust off after the play on Sunnyside. And so the Grizzlies will kick off now at their own 25. One would think an onside kick is coming here.

That's what Gonzaga Prep is playing. And they've got 10 guys between the 35 and 45 yard lines here. So we'll see if Herrera can execute a good onside kick. If he can, Sunny side will get the ball back with an opportunity maybe to get another score before the end of the game. If he can't, Prep will be able to run out the clock.

Here's a little boot. But it was a line drive right at one of the Prep players who just catches it and goes down right at the. Yep, right at the 35 yard line. And that was Burke who made that play. So now Gonzaga Prep has it at the 35, likely knee down and that's that.

Yeah, good job by Prep, making the adjustments, competing hard and I'm also going to give Sunnyside some kudos. They came in here and played their butts off and really have nothing to be ashamed of. This is a very good Gonzaga Prep football team and they gave their. They was a handful. They.

Had to punt. Sunnyside drove right down the field. 14 plays, 80 yards drive, took plenty of time off the clock. A 13 yard pass from the quarterback Ethan Avalos to Seb Megana and the point after was no good and it's six nothing in favor of Sunnyside. Gonzaga Prep answered with a nice drive downfield that ended up with a 42 yard field goal for Matt Herzog and It was a 63 ball game.

Sunnyside then drove back into Prep territory, got into the red zone, had a pass intercepted by Jacoby McClellan at the seven yard line, but Prep had a mishandled snap and had to fall on the fumble in the end zone for a safety and Sunnyside had an 83 lead. Sunnyside then on the ensuing kickoff went 3 and out. Prep got the ball at their own 23. A 77 yard drive capped by a 61 yard rushing touchdown by Jonah Keller made it a 10 to 8 ball game. Sunnyside gets the ball back.

They can't move and this Is our play of the game presented by Adam Strachter. But Avalos is the punter, so watch out for that. Jackson Pierce is back deep to receive. Avalos has his punt blocked. And this is grabbed by Gonzaga Prep at the 23 yard line.

So they almost got the first one, they got the second one. It was McClellan who had an interception earlier in the game and he blocks the punt here. So McClellan with the punt block. That is your Adams tractor play of the game. And Gonzaga Prep took Advantage Keller a four yard rushing touchdown and that made it a 17 to eight game.

And that gave Gonzaga Prep control of the game. And that's where we were at the half. And that really kind of flipped the field in my opinion and and got them going. Sunnyside made a nice rally in the second half, but it was really Prep that from that point on it was Gonzaga Prep's game. Yeah, Prep led 17 to 8.

Then Sunnyside went three and out with their first drive of the third quarter. Prep had a 51 yard drive. Five plays. Moynetta one yard rushing touchdown and that made it 24 to 8. But back came Sunnyside have a low.

A five yard rushing touchdown capped a 73 yard drive. Two point conversion. No good. 24:14. Prep goes three and out.

Sunnyside takes over at their 25 after a punt. 75 yard drive. Avalos to McNair. A 28 yard pass, two point convert, one point conversion. No good.

And all of a sudden it's a 2420 game. But Gonzaga Prep answered. A 57 yard drive. Stafford. A four yard pass to Flynn.

Herzog kicks the point 31 20. Then an interception by Jack Pierce. Gonzaga Prep took over at the Sunnyside 30. Stafford again through the air. A 21 yard pass, a circus one handed catch by Isaiah Dokin.

Point after good 38:20. And then Sunnyside gets a late drive and a touchdown pass from Avalos to McNair for a 38 28. They converted the two point conversion and that is the final score in this ballgame. That is your game recap and your Adams tractor play of the game. He had an early interception in the red zone that stopped Sunnyside from scoring and getting any points. And he also had that punt block that you talked about. That was our play of the game that really kind of turned the tide from that perspective.

Both these games start at 1 o'. Clock. No radio coverage of either of those games as we have Eastern Washington football here on the radio tomorrow starting at noon where the kickoff is one as the Eagles take on Cal Poly. So that's what's going on. And then Gonzaga Prep has moved to the round of 16.

They will play in the 4A state tournament next week. We don't know who they play or where they play, when they play or the time. At this point we won't know that until Sunday. And if Prep and or, excuse me, if Mount Spokane or Ridgeline or both win, then they also would advance into the next round of the 3A state tournament and still be alive in the state 3A tournament prep may have the best chance of hosting depending on how things sort themselves out.

Yep, you just have to wait and see exactly what happens there with the with the results from the weekend, so forth, so on. Back to wrap it up after this timeout.
