But West Valley could win 2A if they get a victory tonight. Yep, West Valley clinches. They're undefeated so far and you know we're trying to avoid this scenario where we've got two lost teams. But yeah, West Valley clinches tonight. They'll take one of the seeds.

Everybody's straight through to the playoffs this year. There's no crossover so they'll get a week off to get healthy. Rodgers is trying is fighting for their playoff lives, right? They already have two wins. They have to win out.

West Valley has to lose out. Clarkson and Schadl need another loss. But Rodgers obviously got off to a terrific start this year. They have already clinched their fifth winning season since 1970. So the season is a success, but start of the year they were all like, we're going to make the playoffs, we're going to make the playoffs.

So this is a huge game for them. When they lost to Clarkston earlier this year here at One Spokane Stadium, they were visibly heartbroken. They rebounded last week. We'll see what, what, what happens when they show up tonight. Clarkston's really the outlier here because when you look at the schedules between the two Shadow Park, West Valley 113 7.

Rogers lost in overtime. 36, 35 in a game they should have won but they didn't. Freeman, which is a very good one. A team that's the only loss West Valley has. But Rogers beat them by 11 points.

Clarkston's really the one that doesn't add up where but three pick sixes entered into that with Clarkston beating Rogers by four touchdowns basically should have been one touchdown but West Valley took it to Clarkson Pretty well. 42 13. Yeah, West Valley's got a couple of different ways they can beat you, right? The quarterback, Ethan Turley, very solid. Austin Clark, we're not sure if we're going to see him tonight at running back, but he's a guy that's lugged the ball for them a lot.

They've got a couple of good receivers and they're big. West Valley always seems to be big up front and they're going to try to move the piles and Rodgers on the other hand, they're going to try to, you know, they've got a couple players that are very exciting and they want to hit big plays. Obviously Aaron Kinsey who is fighting through broken wrist, he's going to play, he had a tremendous game on defense last week, returned a kick for a touchdown. So this ought to be kind of a contrasting styles tonight. But you're right, obviously we'll throw Shadow park and Clarkston both into the mix.

They both have won losses here in the league. They play tomorrow night, a huge game for them. So you know SHADL can clinch a spot if they win. Clarkston, that's their last GSL game. They play a non league game in Week 9.

So they're just big games all around this time of year. And I think Clarkston would clinch if they win because that would close out their league season with one loss and both Schedel and Rodgers best they could do would be two. So for Rogers to move on, what they need is for SHADL to beat Clarkston, they need to win out their last two games against West Valley tonight. North Central Tomorrow night. Then they need Shadow to be Clarkston and then they need Clarkston or rather Shadle to lose to East Valley.

And even then, depending on how they break the tie because Rogers lost to both those teams, they still may be out. Yeah, well, we're hoping that there's some way that there's a four way playoff next week, but maybe I'm hoping for two. Well, no, in your way of getting. Yes. So they can be a four way.

If West Valley loses their last two, it should be tonight. And then next week in Pullman, Rogers winning their last two, Shadow beating Clarkston and then East Valley beating Shadows. And everybody's four and two and nobody's any clearer now after our explanation of it. All right, something is clear. Tomorrow is the winner is in all likelihood the champion in 3A 4AMount Spokane at home against Gonzaga Prep.

Yeah, massive game. You know, we have one of these every year. You know, there's the de facto 4A 3A title game this year. Mount Spokane and Gonzaga Prep, both, no losses in league. So the two teams, the two right teams are there playing for it.

They're playing against each other. Winner take all. Tomorrow night. Again, we've talked about contrasting styles in tonight's game tomorrow night even more pronounced. Right.

Gonzaga Prep runs it on 95% of their run or on 95% of their plays. Mount Spokane, you know, they want to go deep. They have the big plays. We've talked about Bodie Gardner a couple times when we're talking about these things. He's got 16 touchdowns and averaging 38 yards per touchdown.

That's just unheard of. Even in high school football, it's unheard of. So Mount Spokane wants to beat you with the big play. Gonzaga Prep wants to pound you into submission and prep with a good secondary. Mt.

Spokane with a good passing game. Mt. Spokane with pretty good defensive line play. Prep likes to run. So it's going to be interesting tomorrow.

Yeah. And you know, we talk about all the, all these folks and you know, it's probably going to hinge on a freak turnover play or a kid that doesn't play a whole lot gets a touchdown. So. But no, those two teams are. They're both very well balanced.

Right. They're both very well coached, obviously two of the veteran coaches in the league and they're always. Both teams are always, usually on defense. So it's just going to be a really fun game tomorrow night. Dave, thanks as always for the time.

This portion of our pregame show here on 700 ESPN 105. 3 FM is being presented by Sturm Heating as we get ready for a kickoff here as we have West Valley taking on Rogers here this evening. Rodgers at 5 and 2, West Valley at 6 and 1 and there are some very explosive players in this game. Paul Sorensen for Rodgers. We're looking forward to watching Aaron Kinsey play.

He's known as Deion, not Aaron. He played quarterback earlier this year but he has a broken wrist and so they played him at linebacker last week. He was a stud. They'll line him up some at wide receiver. They can't really throw it to him, but they can give it to him on reverses and things like that.

So interesting to see him. Jashon Moore had three touchdowns of 20 yards or longer as a receiver last week. And then on the other side, we'll see if we see the running back Austin Clark for West Valley. He did not participate in what I saw in the pregame warm ups, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't in getting taped or whatever. So we'll see whether we see him.

But then Parker Muns, the wide receiver for West Valley and other big play wide receivers averaging almost 24 yards of catch. Larry, he's, he's a big play guys. Number one in the GSL for average per catch, five touchdowns, you know, on the season, doing a great job. He's a big play guy and you know, they got some dudes that can play, you know, which is impressive. And number seven I really like.

I'm looking forward to watching him. Levi Barnum, he plays both ways. They have four players on this team for West Valley playing both ways. Huge offensive line. They have a young junior in Hyatt at 6 7, 255 pounds.

He's attracting some college interest because of his size and you know, so I think it's gonna be really fun. I think it's gonna be a battle in the trenches. And right now you just look at the numbers. West Valley has got some big guys there. They all seem to have that, you know, and it seems the games are won in the trenches.

You've got skilled people on both sides of the ball, but who can protect, who can get after the quarterback, who can make plays? We're going to get a chance to find that out today. This is really going to be a good two a game and you have two teams that are playing very well right now. Well, you've got A good offensive line for West Valley. You've got a really good defensive line for Rodgers.

Deontay Bedford and Trayvon Barrett both can rush the passer very well. And then you've got big Marcus Erlinzo in the middle at 6:1,330 pounds. He can move a little bit. And they've got Gabe Vega at the other defensive tackle. He's 225.

So they've got some size on the Rodgers D line as well. So it'll be interesting to see only three seniors on the defense for Rogers, only four seniors on the defense for West Valley. So pretty young team. You know, when you think about it and you know, I'm just excited to finally get a chance to see both these teams. Coach Whitney has done a really nice job for West Valley over the years.

He has his guys ready to play. Coach Cole is the head coach for the Rogers Pirates, and they're having themselves a very, very nice season. You don't see Rodgers with a 52 record very often. They used to be a dynasty in the 60s, early 70s. Up until about the late 70s, 40s.

Big game tonight between the second place teams at Mount Spokane as the Wildcats host Gonzaga Prep and Ridgeline is at North Central to a volleyball Pullman at East Valley, Shadow park host Rogers and Clarkston is at West Valley on the football end of things tomorrow.

Here are the games on the two way side of things. Shadow park plays at Clarkston and we'll tell you the importance of that game when we run through the standings in just a second. Pullman is at East Valley tomorrow night as well on the 3A 4A side. Ridgeline the team out of conference. They will host Davis of Yakima games in conference tomorrow Lewis and Clark at University.

Ferris will host Shadow Central Valley. That will be the nightcap game here at One Spokane Stadium. Mead will be at Cheney and Gonzaga Prep will play at Mount Spokane. That's the battle of the two six zero teams in three A4A football the standings look like this. West Valley at four zero Clarkston four one, Schadel three one, Rodgers two and two.

East Valley and Pullman are one and three North Central Zoe and five on the three A4A side Mount Spokane and Prep six zero Ridgeline five and two LC and Mead at three and three, Seavey and U High at two and four, Ferris at one and five and Cheney is zero and seven. Go Weeks. All right. Ethan Turley's the quarterback supreme. He's sixth in the GSL right now. He's throwing seven touchdown passes, but very high percentage passer, almost 78% complacent percentage.

He does a nice job of getting the football out. This is an offense that has five seniors on it. You'd mentioned the running back potentially not being able to play, but they all seem to find a guy that can stay step in. And if Dunfield is that guy, six two, 205 pounds, he's going to present some, some problems running the football. So big offensive line, good tight ends, excellent wide receiver and a quarterback that's accurate.

They're going to, they're going to present Rogers some problems. Rodgers has got athletes as well and on the other side for the Pirates in terms of running, losing Kinsey at quarterback, he was so explosive. But I really like Moore. As Larry had mentioned, he has 26 catches on the season for 295 yards, 11. 3 yards a catch and five touchdowns, which is right up there with the best in the Greater Spokane League.

An offensive line. There's five seniors on offense, three seniors on defense. And you've got Aaron Kinsey, who's an athlete that I've been looking forward to watching the entire season. This is the first chance I've had. I know you've already had them, you know, with that Roger Schadl game and you raved about his athleticism.

So broken hand or not, broken thumb or not, whatever it is, he'll figure out a way to get out there and play. This is going to be a game that's going to be one. Whoever turns over the ball, less field position and getting off the field on third down, whoever does those three the best is going to come out of here with a victory. All right, there you have it. Our keys to the game presented by Eastern Washington University.

And as I mentioned earlier, big game tomorrow in Clarkston. It's Shadow park playing at Clarkston. And again, here's why it's big. Clarkston 4 1, shadow 3 1. Only two teams make it in to the state playoffs out of the 2A standings.

So you've got to figure West Valley, all they need is to win one of their last two to get in there. So that would put them in there and that would mean either Clarkston or Shadl would be the other team. They both lost to West Valley this season so that's a big game. Clarkston, that's it for them. They're at non league next week so they need that victory and so does Shadow Park.

Shadow would have to be East Valley also next week which will be our RBG game of the week here next Thursday night from One Spokane Stadium. And we've seen East Valley up close in person. They are explosive with Diesel Wilkinson and company. Their quarterback, I love the way he flings the ball around and that's a very good football team. That's not going to be an easy out for anybody.

This has been, I think the two way to be honest has been the most most balanced league Larry, from top to bottom here. So it's kind of fun, you know, league in the Greater Spokane league you have four A teams, three A teams and two A teams all kind of immersed in a 16 team playoff. And the crossover games have been decided for two weeks from now and that's the non playoff teams in the 3A 4A. So those are Thursdays, aren't they? Yes, these games will be two of them anyway have been set for Thursday and one is University playing at Pasco.

That'll be on Thursday at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco. That's the 2nd of November, not next Thursday. So it's two weeks from tonight. And then Ferris will be home a five o' clock game here at One Spokane Stadium as they take on Southridge on Thursday 2nd November. Still to be determined dates and times, Walla Walla or Cheney will be at home taking on walla Walla, either LC or Central Valley.

Whoever does not get the number two seed out of 4A will play Eisenhower in Yakima and Meade will play at West Valley of Yakima as well. All the big nine teams out of the Yakima Valley and up through Wenatchee, Moses Lake, etc. They're all 4A. There's no split between 3A and whatnot as there is in both the Mid Columbia Conference, which is the Tri City teams in Walla Walla or here in the gsl. So everybody's foray out of Yakima and that's why either LC or CB will be going to Eisenhower and Mead will be heading to West Valley of Yakima.

So there you have it. We don't know yet what's going on, on the teams that are in the playoffs, on the 3A 4A side. But we'll figure that one out because we still have to nail down the seeds and all that stuff. And that's something they have to do after the season ends. And then you've got your, your linking or whatever they call that thing, you know, and it's you need to be an MIT physicist to figure the darn thing out, it seems like.

But we'll just wait to read it in the paper and then we don't have to worry about it. And Dave Nichols will be doing the writing about that in the newspaper. The guards are seniors Makai Burgess and Justin Lehman, Burgess, a first team selection all conference last season. The tackles are Reginald Barrett and or Trayvon Barrett as he likes to be known, and then Isaiah Merrick's who is a junior. Their tight end is Aiden Cain, he is a junior.

Their wide receivers are Deon Kinsey, Jashon Moore and Hartman Warrick. And the quarterback is Jacob Proctor, who is a sophomore who started last week and threw three touchdowns in their win against East Valley. All of them to Jayshawn Moore and the running back is Gavin Bodman who on the season has overall this is on the entire season. He's got 400 or excuse me, 565 yards rushing and six touchdowns for Rogers. Defensively they've got a really good front for their defensive ends.

Put a lot of pressure on the quarterback, Deontay Bedford. He is a junior rangy athlete, 6ft 3, 200 pounds. The other defensive end is also a junior in Trayvon Barrett. He is 6 3, 195 pounds. Their tackles are Gage Vega, he's a 225 pound senior and Marcus Erlenzo who's 61330 pounds and he plugs up the A gap.

He's got some good. He's not going to run anybody down sidelines to sideline but he can. He's quick. You're not going to move him and I saw him earlier this year and I really like this young man is just a Junior at £330 on the inside. Aiden Kane, Isaiah Rowe and Logan Kittlestead are the linebackers for Rodgers in the second and watch for Deon Kinsey in there at linebacker or at safety or potentially at corner.

They'll move him around a little bit defensively and they have starting in the secondary, Jayson Moore who has an interception return for a touchdown this season and Jerry Allen playing the corners. And AJ Willett and Mikey Sanders are the safeties for this team here, the Rogers Pirates. So this is a good group tonight and we're gonna have ourselves a heck of a game. All right, very good. West Valley ready to kick off to start the ballgame. Back deep to receive for Rogers. They've got Hartman, Warrick and Deon Kinsey is going to be back deep to receive.

He returned a touchdown last week and has two kickoff returns for touchdowns so far this season. Ready to kick it off is going to be Nathan Jeffries. And our kickoff presented by Papa Murphy's Pizza. Change the way you pizza here's a little ground ball downfield that's going to roll out of bounds and Rodgers will take over at their 35. You don't want Kinsey to have the ball in his hands when he doesn't have to have the ball in his hands.

And Hartman Warwick isn't any easy thing over on the other side to kick it to him. Let's see what Rogers is going to do here because they could decline this penalty and make him kick it. No, I think they're picking the flag up because they thought one of the Rodgers players touched it and went out of bounds at the 30. So that's where they're going to spot it. They're not going to mark the penalty off on that line drive.

Joel Murphy comes up, was pointing, you know, to move the ball downfield but the other official there said no, he heard tip ball was tipped off. One of the Rodgers players hands went out at the 30 yard line and that's where they're going to start it. Alright, there you have it. So here comes this Rodgers team. Jacob Proctor, a tall lanky quarterback, 6ft 275 pounds, just a sophomore making his second start in there now that Kinsey can't play quarterback anymore with that wrist injury that he has in his left hand.

Kinsey, one of three receivers split to the left side. All big play guys. Warrick and Moore are the other guys out of the pistol formation with the running back behind. Now they have motion from Kinsey. They'll hand it to Bodman and he goes off right guard and plows his way out to about the 34 yard line.

Gavin Bodman is run backward from there by a whole host of West Valley eagles including including Riley Gilbreth, their starting defensive lineman. Nice job by Bodman as Larry mentioned, coming in 565 yards on the ground. Good job hitting that hole quickly and nice little push by the Rogers offensive line there to start off. That's a good play on first down to get four yards. Second down and six.

Splitting to the right side is Hayden Kane. They have two men, three men all wide to the left out of the pistol again. Proctor, the sophomore quarterback. Four players on the line. Only two though.

Down. Kinsey in motion, toss sweep. Bodmin to the left side, tries to cut back, gets hit and run backward. Andrew Royston, a junior linebacker, hit him. No gain on the play.

It'll bring up third down. Royston's one of those guys that plays both ways, play center on offense and linebacker on defense. He sniffed that play out nicely. Really no place for, you know, for the running back, you know, to be able to go on that. Bodman, he got buried, got barely got back to the line of scrimmage.

So third and six now for Rogers at their own 34. Just underway here in the first quarter. Four wide receivers, two to either side. Proctor out of the pistol, Bodman behind him. Proctor takes the snap, throws it out, quickly caught.

Warwick over the 35, breaks a tackle, but cannot get to the 40. He is run out of bounds by Levi barham at the 38 yard line. It's a four yard gain. He'll bring up fourth and two and we'll see what Rogers does here. Yeah, that was a nice play.

Just a quick pass there. But it was tough because, because Kinsey came over to try to block and you could tell he's, he's hindered with one hand. He got a shoulder and an arm on it, but couldn't, couldn't wrap that up and clear away for them to get a first out. It'll be a punt from Aidan Kane. He stands at his 25 to boot this away.

And back deep to receive is Levi Barum inside his own 35 yard line. Good snap back. Here's the boot away line. Drive kick. Fair catch called for and taken at about the 34 yard line by Barham.

So West Valley will have the ball and they'll get it in good field position. National Electrical Contractor Association, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. They sponsor the fall, winter and spring male and female student athletes from each GSL school, the NECA and the ibew. They've been training electricians for the future for a very long time. 26 yard punt, no return.

Now we see the Eagles for the first time in this ball game taking the offense. And they will have no running back in the backfield along with the quarterback. Now here comes somebody lumbering out late. This is Tyson Mogan who will come into the backfield here. They have two tight ends, a wide receiver to either way they run it and off the right side.

Nothing doing there for Mogan. That is Gabe Vega and Marcus Erlenzo. The two tackles that team up and bring down the running back right at the line of scrimmage. No gain on the play for Mogan. Boy, that was a nice play.

And they, they got there and just buckled him. I mean, that's not a very nice. How you do when he comes into the game like that, he gets squished. No gain on that play. Good front as you mentioned.

I like the way this Rodgers defense rallies to the ball Those front four impressive looking. So second and ten now for the Eagles. They have it at their own 34 on the right hash. Receivers to either side. Two tight ends in the game.

Snap back, Turley designed quarterback run to the right side, cuts back to his left, gets out to about the 40 yard line and is filled there. It'll bring up third and fairly short here as in there on the tackle for Rodgers. A couple of players there, Achilles Willett, a safety as well as one of the big men. Barrett. Yep, Barrett did a nice job.

He came over there and kind of buried the quarterback in the back. Safety came up, stood him up there and Barrett finished him off. He hits pretty darn hard for a 6,395pounder Nice job. Good pursuit sideline to sideline that this defensive front has. So six yards in the pickup for Turley.

Third and four now West Valley, they have the ball on the right hash at their own 40. Trips to the left and the running back out of the backfield in motion to the right and the quarterback wants to throw, quickly throws it out short. And that's intercepted by the defensive lineman at the 35, taking it down to the 30 and inside that, that is Deontay Bedford with the interception. Just on the quickest pass. He read it, got his hands up and gets the huge interception for the Pirates.

Well, great job there, Turley. If you'd have gone down the field. His inside slot receiver was running right down the hash. He was wide open. The savvy safety had over pursued on that.

He just tried to dump it off there. Beautiful reaction by Bedford there to go up high and pick that ball up and get a few yards on the interception return. Big break for the Pirates. Let's see if they can convert here and put the football in the end zone. 902 remaining to play.

First quarter, scoreless game. Pirates at the West Valley 28. Pistol formation. Kinsey split to the left, two men wide to the right, more slotted inside. Warwick Proctor hands it off.

Bodman bounces outside on the left side, now spins, gets to the 25 and is run down there by the West Valley defense. In on that tackle was Andrew Royston. After a gain of about three. Royston's been a busy bee right now. He's already been in a couple of tackles and I like the way he plays.

He flies around as well. These are two football teams that are very good on defense. Statistically, West Valley has the best defense in terms of yards per game. Giving up their number one, that is in league play only. Not Overall for the season.

That's true. Second down and seven, ball on the left hash at the west valley 25. Proctor out of the pistol. Three wide receivers, two to the right, hands it off. Big opening on the left side.

BODMAN Inside the 20, down to the 15 yard line and inside that to the 14. Gavin Bodman. Quick hitting play and a Damon Orthodontics. First down for the Rogers Pirates. A gain of about 11 yards.

Royston again on the tackle there. His third tackle. Saved a touchdown. Bodman kind of cut back. He pursued there, was able to get over and knock him down.

Beautiful hole on the right side there by that offensive line by Rogers. They were able to seal the inside and kick out on the end that created that hole. Bodman listed at 5ft 7 and 165 pounds. First down and 10, Pirates ball near the middle of the field at the West Valley 14. Out of the pistol.

Proctor takes the snap, hands it again. Bodman dances through the middle, bounces off the pile, inside the 10 to the 5. Breaks a tackle into the end zone. Touchdown, Rogers. Gavin Bodman.

A 14 yard rushing touchdown after the interception. Set everything up for the Pirates for Bodman, his seventh rushing touchdown of the season and was 748 remaining. First quarter, the Pirates jump on top. Oh, that was a big run. Well blocked.

Great burst by Bodman. He got up the middle and cut back to his left and out ran the safety coming over from the other side. Beautiful drive. Remember that was set up by the Bedford interception. That was a biggie.

And they're going for two here as their kicker got hurt earlier this year. And so they've started going for two. Kinsey split to the left side. One man wide right, they'll hand it off. Bodman is hit in the backfield and dropped.

And the two point conversion is no good. We'll take a timeout. 7:48 remaining to play. First quarter, it's Rogers Six, West Valley. Nothing here on the Arby's GSL Game of the Week 700 ESPN 105.

This will be grabbed at the 14 yard line and run back out over the 30 yard line to the 35. And getting to about the 37 or 38 yard line is Levi Barum. Our touchdown drive recap presented by stcu. 3 plays 28 yards for Rogers. 14 yard run by Bodman.

2 point conversion no good. And the Pirates on top. 6 nothing. Kinsey, Broken Thumb or not. Was it the guy in on the tackle on that one?

Nice return. If you can get the ball out past the 25 yard line, you're doing well. They got it all the way out to the 38. Well done. So first down and 10 for West Valley.

From there ball on the right hash mark. They've got Muns split to the right side with the ball on the right hash. Two men wide to the left now running back out of the backfield in motion and they fake the handoff and running with it is the quarterback hitting the backfield and he's going to be stopped. The defensive tackle Vega appeared in front of him and he wasn't supposed to be there and Turley had to stammer a little bit and try to figure out what to do and he ends up losing two. Yeah, just a good job of backers.

Both backers are able to get up there. They saw that and made a play. Nice job by the defensive front to kind of keep the offensive line occupied and allowing, you know, those guys to get in there make a play. Well, each of these ends are very explosive players. They keep the tackles occupied and Erlinzo will keep the center and a guard occupied.

So Vega only has to beat his man. He did there and caused that 2 yard loss even though he wasn't the one to make the tackle. 2nd and 12 Eagles and Turley wants to throw, runs away from the defensive end, gets to the corner, throws back over the middle of the field. A dangerous pass might have been tipped and it's Incomplete. Falling short of the intended receiver, Levi Barum.

So it'll be third and 12. Kittlesville, the linebacker, number 45 I think was the guy that got a hand on that. He was also in on that last tackle as well. Nice job on the pursuit. They took a good angle, force a quarterback to go wide.

Nice job in the back end too because the defensive back then got right to the hip of the receiver. There wasn't a lot of open space for him to throw to. Logan Kittles fed, not a big guy, 5ft 8, 170 pounds, but again getting in the way there. It'll be third and 12 now for the Eagles at their own 36. Empty backfield.

Five wide, three to the right. Left side, two to the right, ball on the right hash the quarterback, Turley takes the snap and it's a quarterback run into the middle field. Bounces outside on the right side, crosses the 40 trying to break a tackle. Can't do it. He'll get to the 42, maybe the 43.

As in there for Rodgers on the tackle that time. Aiden Kane along. Jerry Allen, gain of about seven. It'll be fourth down, they'll have to punt. That was a design play all the way, Larry.

That was a quarterback draw. They tried to spread everybody out. Rodgers didn't fall for it. Nice pursuit that time. Good job by the corner because he forced basically the quarterback to kind of come back inside.

That's where all the pursuit hit him. And a nice job of Rodgers getting a, you know, first turnover on the first series and three and out on the second. Keegan Dunfield back to punt it away. Back deep to receive. Jayson Moore inside his 20, 25.

Left footed kick away. Just put into the sidelines. I don't think they wanted to kick it to Moore so they just kicked it out of bounds so that he wasn't going to get it. And we'll see where they put it out at the 45 yard line. That was a punt of only 12 yards with no return.

Sounds like my punting average in high school. That was just. And I know what the punter was doing. He was angle kicking that thing away because you have a player and you know, and Deon Kinsey is that. No, that was Jayshawn Moore.

Jayson Moore, right. So pretty explosive young man. You don't want to kick to him, but that messed up his punt because he ended up driving it out of bounds. Ball on the left, Hash Moore slotted inside. Warrick to the left side.

Kinsey wide to the right here out of the pistol. Proctor calling signals. The sophomore takes a waist high snap, fakes the handoff, throws deep. Kinsey's out there, but it was under thrown in. The passing complete.

The corner was beaten badly, Muns, and then he was kind of face guarding Kinsey. But the ball was so under thrown Kinsey, it didn't really matter. Well, it was the play action fake that messed everything up. Kinsey's got some wheels, so he's going a go route, which is a route straight down the field. Corners beat.

But by the time the quarterback finally was able to get the ball in the pass off kind of outran the pass. So defensive back was fortunate on that one. His bottom was the three that broke that play up, not his hands or his back. When you've got a Kinsey out there, you just got to throw it as far as you can. He'll run under.

He's that kind of athlete. Those are the kind of guys you love because you're never going to overthrow them. They're going to always get there. So second and 10 now for the Pirates. If they're on 45, Kinsey in motion, they'll pop it to him.

He will run to the right side, across the 45 to the 50, cuts outside, down to the 45 and is run out of bounds. A flag comes in late. So we'll see what that's all about. It's a 12 yard gain. If it holds up.

I think you're gonna have a hold on the wide receiver out there, you know, on the outside, which is too bad. Another nice run. They put him in motion. Fly sweep that time he was able to outrun the outside backer and hurdle the corner. I like this guy.

He's athletic, he runs well, he's tough, you know, and this is the kind of player that you're looking for that will definitely make strides and be very good on the next level. So in the end, we're right back. It's a do over again because the penalty went from the spot of the foul, which was the West Valley 45. And they walk it back to the Rogers 45, which is where they started. So it's second and 10.

You know, you could do a do over in baseball too. If the pitcher say he's going to throw, the batter steps out of the box and he, you know, stops his motion. You can, you can redo that play. That's a batter's fault. I don't know why I said that, but I don't know either out there.

So Kinsey, wide To the right, two men wide to the left. Ball on the right hash. West Valley showing blitz. Snap back. Proctor, the running back went the other way and Proctor is going to run it himself across the 50 yard line and get down to the 48 of West Valley.

Again, the running back went to the right, quarterback turned to the left or vice versa, and the quarterback just took off. Once he figured that out and gained seven. Good play. Somebody faked somebody out so badly they faked the defense out too, because they went with a running back who went the wrong side or quarterback turned the wrong way. And it happens.

But he was smart enough to pull that ball down and then head right up the middle where the play was supposed to go. And really picked up a very nice game after that. Holding penalty, you know, wiped out the nice first down run. So third and three now for the Pirates in West Valley territory at the 48. Rogers with a six nothing lead.

Clock running five, 11 remaining to play here in the first quarter. Out of the pistol. Everybody in tight except for one wide receiver. They hand it to Bodman. Bounce outside on the right side.

Nothing doing. Keegan. Dunfield grabbed him and threw him down right at the line of scrimmage. Nope. Give him a yard to the 47.

They'll be fourth and two. Good read by Dunfield. What he did is he kept outside leverage. So as soon as Bodden, you know, got the ball and broke it back outside to try to make a big play, he was right there, excellent leverage. It was able to kind of wrap him up, throw him to the ground.

That was a nice defense. Deon Kinsey is the up back here. Rogers showing punt. I'd watch for a fake. West Valley's watching for a fake.

Here's the snap back on a hop to Kane, the punter. He will boot it away. Just an end over end kick downfield, hits inside the 30, bounces inside the 20, rolls down to the 15, keeps going to the 14 yard line. And that's where Rodgers will down it there. After a 33 yard punt with no return, we've got a timeout on the field.

West Valley with the football at their own 14 yard line on the right hash. 425 remaining. First quarter. Beautiful night here in Spokane. Six nothing in favor of Rogers.

Running back in the backfield along with the quarterback, Turley. Four wide receivers, three of them to the left side. Turley claps his hands, runs the ball, gets hit in the backfield, breaks free over the 15, out to the 20, working the right side flag, comes in, crosses the 25 and the big designman, Marcus Erlenzo knocks him down as he gets to the 26 gain of 12 yards on the perfect.

But a flag is down and in the area where it might be holding. We'll see. Yeah, that, that, that looks like kind of a holding call there from the side. Judge and John Love and Co. They're going to mark that thing off.

That's too bad. That was a beautiful run. Quarterback broke a tackle. Looked like it's going to be about a two or three yard loss. He was able to step out of a tackle behind the line of scrimmage and really get some nice positive yards.

And then the hankie came in and kind of wiped everything out on that front. That was. They only cost. It cost them yards because they don't get the gain, but only cost them 1 yard from the line of scrimmage. So they've got it first and 11 now at their own 13.

Two receivers split to either side, ball still on the right. Hash. Turley, the quarterback out of the shotgun, claps his hands, takes the snap, hands it off off the left side, running the ball. It's Dunfield struggles over the 15 and will plow his way to the 18 yard line for a gain of five. So Dunfield Field, normally a running back, but mostly a linebacker on defense, gains five.

He's a big guy, Larry, 62205. So he kind of carried the pile a little bit and those are some good hefty dudes up front. So that's Guy. That guy is a senior. He's also a two way players you mentioned he's a captain and that was a pretty nice run with guys hanging all over him.

So second down and six now for the Eagles, their own 18 yard line. Four wide receivers, two to either side. Motion coming from the left side, through to the right. And they will hand it off again in a big opening across the 20. 25.

First down over the 30 and being spilled is Dunfield up at the 32 yard line at Lope. They'll put him at the 31. That's a gain of 13. And Damon the orthodontics. First down, the defensive back, A.

J. willett. The junior came over and was able to finally knock him down, but not until after he picked up the first. Nice run there between the left guard and left tackle, split the seam. Good job by the center.

He gets a chip on the defensive tackle, then blocks a linebacker. That's what broke that play. First. First down of the game for West Valley. Two wide receivers to either side.

Again, first down and 10 at their own 31. Ball in the center of the field and they fake the handoff. Running to the right side is the quarterback, bounces outside, keeps it over the 35 to the 40, running those sidelines, gets hemmed in by Jayson Moore and toss down as he gets to the 46, maybe the 47 yard line.

But there's another big play, about 15 yards and not a first down. Excellent blocking downfield that time. That was just a nice job. Levi Barnum was able to kind of the inside slot receiver was able to come up and kind of chip on the D end and then seal the linebacker. And that was enough for the quarterback to, you know, to come over there and really pick up Turley, pick up those positive yards and get that first out.

So first down and 10 for West Valley. They will take Dunfield out of the game. And they bring into the game Washington, Cesar Sakar. Washington in there as the running back Muns in motion right to left through the formation and it's a little screen set up for Washington. Gets over the 50, gets hit and taken down by Barrett as he gets across Midfield to the first 47 of Rodgers.

That'll be gain of seven. A little quick screen there to Washington. That was a good play. It looked like they're going to go to the trip side, the wide side of the field. He kind of looked left, drew the linebackers over there, then came back to the right side, just dumped the ball off there.

That was really a nice play. A heads up call. I like that call. On first down you get that defense flying around a little bit. Second down and three down to a minute 37 remaining to play here in the first quarter.

Clock running, Roger 6, West Valley nothing. Two receivers come to either side. Noah, Gad, Lewis and Muns who now goes in motion toward the left from the right side and they'll swing it out to Muns. It's a lateral out to him. He drops the ball.

It's picked up by Rodgers. Deon kinsey, there he goes. 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5. Touchdown Rodgers. It was a lateral, not an incomplete pass.

And Muns was just. I'm not sure if he was trying to secure the ball or what, but he dropped it and it bounced right into the hands of Deon Kinsey who races down the right side for the touchdown. And Rodgers has a 13 to nothing lead, 44 yards on the fumble return for the touchdown by Kinsey. Well, that's two turnovers. The, you know, the Bedford interception that set up that for that first touchdown drive run by by Bodman and then Kinsey, who showed his speed doing a great job of scooping scoring there.

Anytime you do that as a defense, you're giving yourself a great chance to win the football game. Rogers has to hustle. They don't have the play to the huddle yet. They're going for two again here and there's six on the play clock and they're going to have to take a timeout and they will. With a minute 12 remaining to play here in the first quarter and Rodgers holding a 12 nothing lead.

They were slow in getting the play to the quarterback and he didn't really have a chance to relay it to the team. Big play on defense. Larry has been the difference in this first quarter. Interception. Big pick by the defensive end of the left side. Set up the first touchdown drive and touchdown run.

And then of course Kinsey, who's my, who's becoming my favorite player. I just love the way this kid plays. He's got a broken thumb. He's still out there competing. He can play quarterback, wide receiver, running back, outside linebacker, safety, corner.

He's got multiple positions he can play. That's the kind of athlete he is. Well, he has run for touchdowns. He is, I think he's caught a touchdown pass. He's returned to kickoffs for a touchdown.

Now he returns a fumble for a touchdown. Plus he threw touchdown passes this season. So he can do a lot of different things. And they will go for two here. Ball in the center of the field.

12 nothing in favor of the Pirates. Two big turnovers here on West Valley in the first quarter. Apply everybody in tight, even the wide receivers. Moore and Warrick are in tight and the Proctor is the wide receiver. They give it, they snap it back to Kinsey on a direct snap and he runs it in off the right side.

So Deon Kinsey the two point run off the right side and Rogers has a 14 to nothing lead here in this ball game. And that's just, that's what that guy does for you. He gives you such a dynamic presence in terms of his ability to really change the game. You've got a game plan for him now because he's too explosive. I would put the ball in his Hands, fly, sweep, direct snap to him.

Whatever it takes to get him the football. He's the best athlete on the field right now. Larry, I don't think that. I think you could take the right now away. He's the best athlete on the field, period.

That's true. I can. Yep. You know what? Good caveat.

So a good kick right turn there by Levi Barum, the senior wide receiver in West Valley with good field position.

They needed something good to happen. They got it there. Yeah, they really did. And, and you know Kinsey, that's a second tackle that he's made on kick coverage. So not only does he play on defense, does he return fumbles for touchdowns.

He also does a great job on special teams as well. And he was able to run that guy down. But a nice read that time. Finding a hole to the left side, cutting through it. First down, west valley at the Rogers 37 from the left hash, four wide, two to either side.

Washington, the running back, they snap it, Turley hands it. Nope, keeps it himself. Gets hit in the backfield and thrown down. The second. Big play of this game made by Deontay Bedford from the defensive left end.

He intercepted a pass in the first period earlier in the first period of play. And now he tackles Turley, the quarterback for a rushing loss of 6 yards. That was just a great read by him. He came off the end, he didn't fall for the fake. That's his job to read that quarterback.

Kind of an RPO type thing where if he hands the ball off, then he can slide down the line of scrimmage. If he doesn't, he has to keep that outside leverage. He did that and threw the quarterback down for a big tackle for loss. Second and 16. Now trips to the right.

One man wide left ball in the middle. Of the field. West Valley if the Rogers 43 Turley runs again into the middle of the field and there's not a lot of room there, he gets down inside the 40 to the 39, gain of about 4 yards on the play for Turley. It'll bring up third and long. Probably going to be the last play here.

The first quarter. What an exciting first quarter turnover fest. The Rogers defense has come out with two big turnovers and interception and then a pick six fumble return. Nice job and they have converted them both for touchdowns here in this ballgame. Our score after 1/4 is Rogers 14, West Valley Nothing here on the Arby's GSL Game of the week on 700 ESPN.

I like what I'm seeing at the 2A level here and you know these guys are playing pretty darn well. It's good teams. All right, third down and 12 West Valley probably four down territory here at the Rodgers 39 as we get ready to start the second quarter of play here from one Spokane Stadium in downtown Spokane. Rogers with a 14 to nothing lead.

And now television says we are good to go. So a big shift here for West Valley. Five players in motion. Now everybody sets up empty backfield. Turley the quarterback out of the empty backfield, takes the shotgun snap waist high, looks, throws back to the right side, has a catch and immediately grabbed.

There is the receiver and run backwards. That is Eric Borg. He gets very little, if anything on that reception. Aiden Cain and others were there for Rodgers. So now it'll be fourth down.

Well there they wanted to go down the middle of the field. They had two slot receivers running go routes right down the hash mark. But excellent coverage by the safety, kind of pick them up there. No place to go. He had to do a little check down throw there, but great pursuit and you're right, they're going for it on 4th down and 10.

This is a tough get here at 4th and 10. Muns will be wide to the right side. Alejand Meyer is slotted inside of him. Two men out, wide to the right, out wide to the left side. I should say running back.

Washington out of the backfield in motion to the right back to throw it as Turley has some time now. Pressure on. He is hit. He is sacked. I think it was Erlenzo.

Ball fumbled. No, it was Vega that forced the fumble. And it's recovered by Barrett. Trayshawn Barrett. And so Barrett with a fumble recovery at the 39 yard line.

And for the third time in the half, West Valley turns the ball over. Man, I give Rogers credit. Larry, Larry, they're making plays here. Scoop and score a great pick six on a little flare plate, you know, to the tight side of the field and then a huge hit and that separated the quarterback from the football there. Everybody Covered.

He had no place to go downfield there. And a nice job by Barrett, the 6,395 pound junior to pick that thing up. Third turnover the day. Wow. And Vega forced the fumble.

So first down and 10 at the 39 yard line. Rodgers with Proctor, the running back pitches it to Kinsey, but pitched it too hard. Kinsey dropped the ball and the pass is incomplete because he pitched it forward. It's that little pop pass. And so Kinsey, he kind of gave him a fastball there and Kinsey wasn't quite prepared for it.

Not just a little pop, he kind of pitched it at him and the ball hits the ground. Incomplete pass. Actually that's a break for Rodgers because that could have been. If that was backwards, that would have been a fumble. And then you have a scramble there.

Now remember, he's playing with one hand. Probably don't want to launch a ball, you know, three feet away or two feet or whatever it was and hit him. And I think he threw it kind of behind him. Larry looked like it. Him in the shoulder, not in the hands.

Trips to the left side. Ball on the left hash Kinsey in motion to the right. They will hand it to Bodman, swarms through a little hole, crosses the 45 and gets out to the 46 yard line. Gavin Bodman gains seven. It'll be third and three.

Bodmin's done a nice job running the first football there. I like the way he's able to take that ball up field between the tackles. Let's give those big fellas up front, they're doing an outstanding job opening up holes for Bodmin and you know, and also Kane or Proctor, the quarterback and three seniors up front, the center row. The guards, Burgess and Layman. But the two tackles, Barrett and Merrick, serve only juniors and they'll anchor the line next year for the this Rodgers team.

So now third and three, Pirates ball near the center of the field at their own 46 out of the pistol. Four wide receivers. They hand it to Bodman again, burrowing ahead. First down run. Yep.

He gets to midfield for a Damon Orthodontics first. Bodman just getting lower than anybody else there. He's only 5 7, so he can do that. Gain a 4. Great pad level by him.

First half, Rogers 4:14, West Valley nothing. Pirates have it. Ball nosed right to the midfield stripe and they're taking time in the huddle right now. Proctor the quarterback trying to find the play. They're down to 10 on the play clock.

They'll go out of the pistol. Three receivers split to the right, one man wide to the left. Proctor takes the low snap thigh high, fades back, wants to go deep, has the ball batted away. That's going to be a fumble and it's recovered I think by West Valley. It is.

That is a fumble forced by Wiley Gilbreth and recovered I think by Riley gilbreth at the 46 yard line of Rogers as Proctor went back to pass and that ball got bat out of his hand before he could throw it. Great reaction there by Proctor, you know, by Gilbreth, you know, going upfield basically. And he just kind of came behind him and just swatted at the arm and and was able to knock that out of his hands and then had the presence of of mind to try to scoop and score that. Just couldn't pull it in there. But the offensive line were able to finally knock him down and.

But a big return. Now let's see if West Valley tries to take a shot, make a big play. Fourth turnover already of this game. The first though on Rodgers. First down and 10.

West Valley, they hand it off. Running to the right side, trying to get to the corner and making it is the running back gets inside the 35 and has run out of bounds. That is Mogan, he started at the 46. He gets run out at the 32 yard line. That's a Damon Orthodontics first down and a gain of 14 yards.

Aiden Kane, the inside linebacker, 12 was a guy that was over there. Finally was able to knock him out of bounds. But good blocking on the right side for West Valley there they're able to seal the end and he just bounced it showed some really good speed, got past the linebacker. Muns wide to the right. One on one coverage from Jayson Moore there.

Three men wide to the left. First and 10 Eagles at the Pirate. 32 from the right. Hash Turley with one white sock and one black sock, takes the snap, fades back, has time. Deep ball looking for Muns down the right side.

He's open. He got it touched down. West Valley. Yep. One on one coverage.

Two against two on the jerseys. Muns versus Moore. Good wide receiver, good corner. That time it was Muns with the win and the touchdown for the Eagles. Boy, that was just a nice throw.

Let's give Turley credit. He put that one up there. Let his quarterback or his wide receiver Muns go up there and make a play. Remember, this guy's averaging almost 24 yards a catch and guess what? He was over that on that particular throw there.

That's his sixth touchdown of the of the season in GSL play and that's only the fifth game. So here's the point. After try it is booted up and it is good by Nathan Jeffries. We'll take a timeout. 8:59 Remains to play here in the first half.

They had a 14 yard run, then the 32 yard touchdown pass from Turley to Muns Pat. Good by Jeffries and West Valley cuts the lead in half. Here's a little line drive onside kick and heads up Aiden Kane as that ball came right at his ear and he was able to grab it and fall to the ground.

What West Valley was hoping for is the cane would be paying attention to hit him in the chest and bounce back toward West Valley and they get an onside kick instead. Rogers takes over at the 48. Kane eyes on the ball. Good job. Head coach Craig Whitney is crafty.

He likes doing that kind of stuff. And you know the most effective onside kicks are the ones you're not expecting it. So that tells me that Rodgers has been well coached up front, especially in special teams. Not to fall asleep. Kane Is a tight end set to the right side.

Kinsey is a wing off his right hip and they have two men tight to the formation to the left side as well. Out of the pistol. Proctor takes the snap, pitches it forward. Jayshawn Moore to the outside. Bodman leading the block, gets over the 50, cuts back to his left side to the 45, spins forward and gets to the 43 or 4 yard line before they bring him down.

Jayshawn Moore on the little pop pass, gains 8. He shows some good speed as well. And another young man that plays both ways. Good blocking though on the outside. I really like the other receiver that came over, I think that was Warwick 11 that was able to kind of lead block for him and get him to the corner and showed some good speed.

Really nice gain there on first down, I think about eight yards. Yep. Pick up of eight. It'll be second down and two. Kinsey slotted inside, Kane out to the right side, ball on the right.

Hash Moore the slot receiver with Hartman. Warrick the outside receiver on the left, handed to Bodman off left guard, spins over the 40 yard line and gets wrestled down by Barham and Dunfield at the 36 yard line. And so that'll be a first down run. Well, that was just a. That was a great run.

He was like the pinball wizard out there. He just ran through the hole and he got doinked by both defensive tackles and just kind of did a 360 pirouette. Kept going up field, didn't lose his speed, then finally ran into a linebacker. But he's just a whirling dervish up there, the way that he runs the football. Eight yards for Bodman.

First down for Rodgers now at The West Valley 36. Four wide receivers, two to either side. Proctor hands it to Bodman again, tries to bounce outside on the left side, get into the corner inside the 35 and it'll be wrestled down at the 32 after a gain of about 4 yards on the play. And there was Muns to make the tackle. And it'll be second down and six.

Bodman's going to be grumpy because when he sees the hole between the left guard and left tackle, it was there and he bounced it and you know, he still got 4 yards, which is really good. But he might be standing in the end zone because it was there and he had a great chance to hit that hole and then break it towards the corner. With his speed he would have had an excellent opportunity to score. Second and six now for the Pirates at the Eagle 32. We have 705 remaining to play here in the first half.

14 7. Rogers with the lead over West Valley. Trips left ball on the left, Hash Kinsey in motion. They pop it to him. He will run to the right side trying to get to the corner.

Can't do it now. Stops on the corner, starts upfield, gets across the 30 and gets down to the 26 yard line. And he should have a first down. And he was dead to rights in the backfield and still figured out a way to, to make that play. Just a nice job, good heads up running, good spin and excellent strength there.

He's playing with one arm, but I'll tell you, that was just a nice job. I thought he was going to maybe get a yard or two. He picks up the first down passing gain. There is that little pop pass, that little shovel forward. And so Kinsey gets six yards there.

It's a Damon Orthodontics first down to the West Valley 26. Hartman Warrick split wide to the right, ball on the right hash. Jayshawn Moore slotted inside him. Kinsey a split to the left out of the pistol. Proctor hands it back to Bodman again between center and left guard, crosses the 25.

A flag is down. I think we're gonna get a hold as I think Isaiah Rowe ended up tackling Logan Leeson. That's quite a battle. Rowe 5, 8, 2, 20. Leeson 5, 9, 2, 3.

So a couple of low to the ground, guys. The hold is called on the Pirates and it'll go from the line of scrimmage, the 26 back to the 36, a 10 yard penalty. Referee John Love was the one that threw the hanky there and he's looking at the, he's looking at the left guard, left tackle on this side. The umpire is looking at center, left guard, left tackle on the other side. And then the back judges are looking at your ends, your tight ends and your wide receivers in the inside slot.

So first and 20 now for the Pirates at the 36 of West Valley. Kinsley split to the right side, two men wide to the left, Moore and Hartman, Warrick and Proctor to throw on first down, fires it to the sidelines, has a catch. Kinsey inside the 30, down to the 25 and is pushed out of bounds at the 24 yard line by the linebacker Dunfield. That was a fastball. And Kinsey with a cast on his hand still caught at gain 12.

That is so hard to do. It's just amazing. He picked up, you know, the 10 yards he needed to get back to the lion scrimmage and then plus two on that front. But I just love the way this kid plays. I, I would game plan him on every play, man, until he needs a rest, and then I'd find somebody else to hand the ball to and then get him back in the game.

Well, and Proctor, just a sophomore quarterback that was thrown with some velocity. So this young man with some promise in the years ahead, wide receivers to either side. Moore, a slot they will pop it to. Moore runs to the left side, slips and falls down in the backfield and that is a loss. Back to the 28 yard line, a loss of four yards.

Well, he's disappointed in himself, Larry, because he had a hole there and he knew it. He just tried to put on the brakes there and just, you know, it didn't have the weight where he needed to have it. Both his feet slipped out from underneath him. Knee touches the ground, you know, they got to blow the whistle on that thing. And he knew he missed an opportunity for a big play.

In the NFL, you're still able to get up and run if you haven't been touched. But in college or in high school football, once your knee hits the ground or your hip or your whatever, you are down on the play. So four wide receivers, third and 13 from the West Valley 29. Proctor out of the Pistol, calls the signals and flags are down. It's going to be a false start on Rodgers.

Their second penalty here in this drive. Yeah, that was Warwick, number 11 on the West Valley sidelines. He, he kind of did that little head and shoulder bob and, you know, knew it. He clapped his hands, he was frustrated with himself. And those are the kind of mistakes you're getting down here into the red zone.

You have a chance to extend this lead. You're up by seven right now. You can't make those mistakes. 545 to play. First half 14, seven, Rogers, third and 19.

They don't need 19 yards. Well, they need 19 yards here, but if they can get eight or 10 or 12, they'll have a chance to go for it. On fourth down out of the pistol, four wide receivers, two to either side, back to throw it as Proctor, pressure coming, steps up in the pocket. And he's sacked Washington. Sakara.

Washington was the first guy there on the stop for West Valley. And a loss back to the 38 yard line means Rogers will have to punt. Boy, that was a nice job by Washington. He did an excellent job. The five'11,190 pounder, he's a junior he came off, engaged the end and then just slid underneath, did kind of a little swim move and got right, you know, right in Proctor's face and there was nothing Proctor could do.

Good coverage to downfield, not a lot of guys open. So fourth down and 22 here and there's a snap back on a hop to Kane, who will get the punt away with a rush coming up the middle. He gets it down inside the 15 and it bounces back and diving for it and killing it at the 15 yard line is Michael Sanders and we will take a timeout on the field. 442 remains to play here in the first half. Our score is Rogers 14, West Valley 7 and we'll be back after this timeout on the Arby's GSL Game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105.

They'll hand it off to the running back off the left side. He gets hit by the big man in the middle, Erlinzo, but struggles forward and gets to the 18 yard line for a gain of three. And pretty good strength that time by Tyson Mogan because £330 was falling on him and he was able to drag him for about an extra yard. Man, I thought he kind of bent him to the side as well. That's really good strength.

You can tell West Valley has an excellent weight program, that they do a nice job with these players. That's really good lower body strength to be able to move a 330 pound dude. Gain a three. Second and seven. Ball on the left hash, trips to the right.

One man, wide left. Turley out of the gun, takes the snap, Quarterback draw into the middle of field, wide open. 30 out to the sidelines, up over the 40, rolls his shoulder into the man, gets across the 45. Sanders will run him backward from the 47 yard line. But a big run by Turley, 29 yards on a little quarterback draw type play.

And a Damon Orthodontics first down. Yeah, great blocking too. Basically they caught Rogers in a blitz and both the lightsbackers are going upfield. Turley was going the other direction and he showed some really good speed and had his running back kind of lead blocking him up the middle. First down and 10.

West Valley out at their own 47 now. Ball on the left hash again, same formation. Turley will run off the left side and Erlinzo's got him and throws him for the loss at the 45. And the big man can move too. He's not just a guy that sits in the center of the field.

He can move laterally and are. Lenzo got him and threw him down at the 45. Loss of two. That's Erlenzo's third tackle. Larry, he's doing a great job.

He's coming out. They're going to give him a break and you know, a chance to sit on the bench and catch, get, catch his air a little bit. He's been a really busy pee on this Drive making plays. So second down and 12 here, ball on the left, hash trips right, Muns wide to the left. One on one coverage there from Bodman at corner and wanting to throw to Turley.

Looking for Muns. Deep ball left side down the field and Muns can't hang on. Incomplete. It was actually not Bodman, but it was Sanders with the one on one coverage there and a lot of hand fighting there. And I thought Muns maybe threw Sanders out of the way a little bit, but no flag and incomplete pass.

Well, that's too bad because that's a perfect throw. He threw that ball up in the air. And the defensive back, what happened is you run by the wide receiver that he slows down. It's almost like a back shoulder throw. But I think, you know, the hand fighting, I don't think he focused on catching the football at the highest point, let it get into his chest.

And once it did, kind of his chest and rolled off. Incomplete on unfortunately with the incomplete pass, clock stops. 250 remaining to play here in the first half. Third and 12. West Valley at their own 45.

As does Rogers. West Valley gets the ball to start the the second half. Rogers 14, West Valley 7. Munn splits to the left side. Three men wide to the right here.

And again one on one. Coverage from Sanders against Muns to the left side. Back to throw it as Turley looking, throwing short, has a Catch and immediately tackled on a good play is Mogan the running back. And that was Andrew Willett the linebacker who was racing over there in a hurry. Very short gain only.

Well, no gain. Well, no, they do get 2 yards. It'll be 4th and 10. Yeah, that was a nice job by Willett to read that. The senior came over and really gave him no chance to go anywhere else.

He had to kind of fight through some traffic to finally get there. But he made that plea lickety split, making it a long fourth down and forcing West Valley to punt. And on to do that is Keegan Dunfield. Jayson Moore stands inside his 25 snapback. Dunfield left footed boot away to the far sidelines.

And again he does not want to kick it anywhere close to more. But what that's going to do is give very good field position to Rodgers. The official says the ball is at the 44. That is a, that is an 11 yard punt. And what was his first one?

13, 14, I believe for 12. Oh boy. Well, I mean, when you don't want to kick it deep but you'd like to kick it a little better than. I mean, he might as well go for it on fourth down. If that's the case.

Give yourself a chance to pick up a first down and you're not turning the ball back over there. But he's just trying to angle kick that too hard and he's, you know, it's almost like snap hooking or slicing a golf ball. Two receivers split to the right side. Ball on the left hash. One man wide to the left.

That's Kinsey out of the pistol. Proctor hands it off to Bodman, runs into his own man in the backfield who was a pulling tackle to go the other way and that didn't work. Now loss of playback to the 43 of 1 yard. That was a great job that time by the inside linebacker. I think that might have been Kane because what he did is he followed the pulling blocker who was coming down.

He was coming down the line of scrimmage and he just followed right behind him and it took him right to the ball carrier and he was able to make that play. Just a good job of getting up field, reading that and then, you know, executing that tackle. So a loss of a yard for Bodman. Second and 11, clock running, a minute 30 remaining to play here in the first half. Kinsey splits to the right side, two men wide to the left.

Proctor puts Kinsey in motion and they'll pop it to him. Kinsey running left side cuts up field, over the 45 to the 50. And he will be spilled down at the 47 yard line. So he gains 10 yards on the little pop pass there. Brings up third and one.

And Rogers will take one of their two timeouts with a minute 11 remaining to play here in the first half. That's smart. Get a chance to come over, talk to the coach, set up a play. You got two downs here. I don't see them punting.

So you could run the football here or you could take a shot down field, see if you can try to get a touchdown. Down to the 35 yard line. Got thrown forward for about five yards because he was about an inch and a half off the ground as he was running. Gain of 11, a first down. He runs hard. He's got great pad level.

He keeps his pads low and yet he keeps his feet moving there. And he just fought through a couple of arm tackles, blew up a linebacker and then just kept going. Very nice run by Bodman. And time is running down. Proctor's trying to figure out what it is that they want called here.

Clock running, 45 seconds left in the half time on this play. Two receivers go to the left side. Kinsey will come to the right. Down to 35 seconds remaining in the half. Proctor puts Kinsey in motion.

And Proctor runs it himself off the right side, trying to get it outside. Cuts back, gets inside the 30 and will be stopped. And Rogers is going to need to take a time out here. But they're not. And now they do.

They wasted about 30 seconds, you know, on that pretty particular play. And that's just trying to get the play in there. Maybe there's some confusion on what they want to run. They're talking about it between coaches. You can't do that.

You've got to have your play. You got to get it in and let those guys go lickety split. Well, Adam's tractor is Spokane and Coeur d' Alene and Lewiston. They're your full service tractor, equipment and Kubota dealership. They've been serving our area since 1929.

It says yep. Now it goes down to zero on the scoreboard. So I'm taking three shots into the end zone here. You've got three speedy receivers, Kinsey, Warrick and Moore. Get it to one of them and see if you can, you know, yeah, somebody can come down with it for a touchdown.

No, and I agree with you, you know, just in terms of what they can do, you know, Moore is averaging a little over 11 yards, you know, a catch. You know, Warwick is a good little receiver, number 11 on the outside. And Kinsey's, he's my fave. He's the guy that if West Valley is not double teaming them and they see one on one coverage with number seven out there, that's where I'm going to go. And it will be one on one coverage out there as Leje Meyer is over there against Kinsey.

2nd and 5. They will fake the handoff. Want to throw deep. Kinsey, left side. He's behind the defense.

He's got it inside the five into the end zone. Touchdown. Touchdown Rodgers. Deon Kinsey comes away with it. That is a 30 yard passing touchdown from Proctor to Kinsey and The Pirates with 12 seconds left in the half take a 27 lead.

Those are the kinds of plays where you're scoring right before halftime that are back breakers. And that was just press coverage by the corner. And I think they were trying to roll a safety over the top, but he didn't get over there in time. Corner got beat off the line of scrimmage. Kinsey with one arm is able to take that thing in.

What a great job by him. His second touchdown of the half. The other being a football recovery and unofficially four catches, 58 yards for Kinsey. But I think at least two of those have done just the little pop passes where it's really not thrown forward. It just kind of popped in front of the quarterback and grabbed by Kinsey.

They go for two Kinsey in motion. They pop it to him running left side cuts up field. There is the two point conversion. I'm going to call that a pass from Proctor to kinsey. And the two point conversion makes this a 227 game with 12 seconds remaining to play in the half.

Well, you've got to figure out a way to game plan Kinsey. He's too good a football player to leave out there one on one. You know you're hanging your corner out there on that, on that front. So if they're going to continue doing, it's going to be a long night for West Valley. Larry, this guy is way too good a football player to only try to cover with one.

Our STCU touchdown drive recap. 56 yards on that drive and very well done by Rogers to use up almost the entire remaining part of the first half of play. Cab by the 30 yard pass from Proctor to Kinsey. Point after two point conversion. Good.

Again a pass from Proctor to Kinsey and it's a 22 to seven game. Proctor, unofficially I have him at seven out of nine, but three or four of those completions have just been those little pop passes where he just shovels it in front of him to the receiver as he comes through in motion. If he was handing it to the man then it would be the fly sweep, but instead he just kind of pops it up into the air and it's grabbed. And we saw one earlier that was dropped by Kinsey and it was an incomplete pass. So that's a safe play.

That's the way to do it. Make sure you shovel it forward. It's considered a pass, not a run or handoff. Sanders for the kickoff and he boots a ground ball downfield that is covered by west valley at the 44 yard line. So now no time goes off the clock there.

So now the Eagles have the ball with two timeouts, 12 seconds at their own 44. They have a kicker that has a little bit of a leg. Anyway, if they could get 30 yards here, they may have a chance at a field goal at the end of the half. And remember, muns has a 32 yard touchdown catch. He's a guy that's averaging almost 24 yards of catch.

There's a big play guy for them, but looks like they're just going to do the knee, you know, tap the knee down here. That's what they're going to do. It'll be Turley under center. He takes the snap, puts the knee down and that will end our first half of play. Our second quarter of action presented by Tiorama and Cooper Tires.

They went three and out, had to punt, but West Valley on their third play through an interception. A great play by defensive lineman Deontay Bedford who intercepted a pass put Rogers at The West Valley 28 and three plays later it was Gavin Boden with a 14 yard rushing touchdown. Two point conversion no good and it was six nothing in favor of the Pirates. Teams exchange punts, West Valley gets the ball back and they throw it out to Muns their great wide receiver on a lateral and he was trying to secure the ball, ended up dropping it and bounced right into the hands of Deion Kinsey who returned at 44 yards for a touchdown.

Two point run by Kinsey is good. It's a 14 to nothing ballgame. West Valley fumbles the ball on a fourth and 10. Vega forced the fumble, Barrett recovered the fumble for Rodgers but then the Pirates fumbled it back as Galbraith stripped the quarterback and fell on the ball as well for a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and West Valley took advantage of that from the Rogers 46.

A two play drive and Muns a 32 yard pass from Turley and Parker. Muns gets the receiving touchdown. Ethan turley the passing touchdown 14 7. After the PAT the teams exchange punts, Rogers punts, West Valley punts it back, Rogers takes over at their own 44 late first half they play I have get a nice 56 yard drive capped by a 30 yard passing touchdown from Proctor to Kinsey.

Came with 12 seconds remaining in the half. Two point conversion pass to Kinsey makes it a 227 game at the intermission. That is your swinging doors first half recap. A lot of stuff going on there. Excellent play on the defensive side especially for for Rogers creating turnovers, getting your offense those extra possessions and then housing one and getting a scoop and score.

That's a huge play. Anytime a defense has a tendency to scoop and score they end up winning the game or interception return For a touchdown. That's a big difference. And I have to admit it, Kinsey one, armed or not, is a great football player. Three turnovers on West Valley so far in this ball game.

One on Rodgers, three of the four, two of the three from West Valley, and the one Rogers had converted into touchdowns by the opposition. So I would think a key for the second half would be stop turning the ball over. Yeah, and that's exactly what these coaches, even the Rodgers coaches saying, hey, hang out of the football. Look what our defense is doing. They're scoring points, are giving us the ball back.

So hang on to the ball. And, and West Valley just saying we got to take care of the football. We need to do a better job of, you know, let's give, let's give the deontay bed a lot of kudos on that, on that interception because he, he went up and, you know, did a great job of reading the pass and getting in the lane.

And that's not an easy play for a defensive end who's engaged with it with an offensive tackle to still be able to go up and get your hand on the ball like that, pick it off. So a lot of good athletic plays here in the first half. Rodgers has to feel very good about where they are right now. Yeah, West Valley 40 in the GSL two way race. Coming in, Roger Rogers two and two in that race.

So Rogers with a 15 point lead, their defense has scored a touchdown. They've allowed one touchdown. Paul, you played defensive back at Washington State and were drafted into the NFL, was an all American. I would think that when you went into the locker room at halftime and your defense has scored as many points as you had given up, you probably were fairly happy. Yeah, the offense didn't get their orange slices at halftime.

We got them. So that was the good part, was a joke. We had orange slices back in the day. We did. I'm not kidding.

You guys had knives so you could slice an orange? No, they were already sliced for us. We'd come in and then we'd make a face. We'd put the orange in there and be the mouse thing. But yeah, they would take their orange slices away if they had a, had a bad half.

Well, they still would have had two touchdowns, but that's in the old days. Now I don't know if they do orange slices or anything like that. But to your point, anytime a defense can, can be as important, impactful as Rodgers was in the first half, the offense better come over, give them. Atta boy how to do because they did a great job of getting three extra possessions and scoring while they were, you know, they were sitting on the bench. So that was impressive.

Here's what's happening in football in the GSL this weekend here the standings going into games this weekend.

First on the two way side. That's where we're at right now. West Valley on Top at four and oh, they would have to lose both games that they have remaining, which would be this game here and then a game at Pullman next week in order to not win outright the GSL 2A championship because they have beaten both the teams with one loss.

So West Valley at 4. 0, Clarkston 4 and 1, Shadow park at 3 and 1. Those two teams play tomorrow night in Clarkston in what essentially is an elimination game unless West Valley loses two games. And again, it's a big mess if it gets to that point. Rogers at 2 and 2.

The only way they have to move into the top four is for everybody to end up at two and two. So West Valley to get two losses, Clarks to get two losses, Shade will get two losses and Rogers with two losses. Then there would be two different Kansas City tiebreakers that would be played. Wow. East Valley's 1 in 3, Pullman is 1 in 3, North Central is 0 and 5.

On the 3A 4A side, Mount Spokane, Gonzaga prep both 6 and oh, they have won their respective levels. Mount Spokane the 3. 8 champ, prep the 4A champ. So they will both get number one seeds into the postseason, but they will play for the de facto GSL championship tomorrow night. That game can be viewed on swx.

If you want to watch that game, I'll be there with Mike Peterson to do the play by play on that game. Ridgeline 5 and 2. They are the number two seed out of the three A going into the next round. Lewis and Clark, Mead at 3 and 3. Central Valley U high at 2 and 4.

If LC were to lose out and CB was to win a game. If CB picks up a game over the end, they would be the 2 seed if West. If LC can win a couple of games, they would be the 2 seed out of the 4A. Ferris 1 and 5 and Cheney is 0 and 7 tomorrow night in 2A. Shadow park at Clarkston in that huge game.

Pullman plays at east valley on the 3A 4A side. Mead travels to Cheney. Mount Spokane hosting Gonzaga Prep in that big game tomorrow night. Central Valley visits Ferris. That'll be the game here at One Spokane Stadium.

NLC plays at U High. Ridgeline is the out of conference team next week. They will play Davis of Yakima at home. So that's what's look, that's what it looks like on the on the schedule for tomorrow night. Big volleyball games tonight.

And yes, they have played a very good game so far. And we'll see whether they can hang on to this lead as West Valley will get the ball to start the second half of play here from 1 Spokane Stadium. Next week. We will be back here at One Spokane Stadium for the final regular season game of the 2023 football season as we will have the Shadow Park Highlanders. This could be a very big game.

If Shadl wins that game tomorrow night in Clarkston, it would be game they would have to win in order to advance into the 2A playoffs. So Shadl park takes on East Valley and that if Clarkston wins tomorrow night against Shadow, they clinch the number two they're in or they clinch a spot. They don't necessarily. Yeah they do. They would clinch the number two spot because even if West Valley loses Shadow and West Valley tie, West Valley would win that because they beat Shadow and if it was a three way tie with Rogers involved then West Valley would be well, Shadow, that's advanced, that's wave.

I don't know whether though they make you suspend it though if there is over that level. So don't. No. And it's interesting because in baseball you've got a lightning. You can suspend games and have to come back and replay them.

So. So everybody start blowing. Maybe they'll get everything out here, here. Time for the second half. Kickoff is presented by Papa Murphy's Change the way you pizza.

Rodgers kicks off end over end kick downfield. This will be fielded by one of the up man. Lejea meyer at the 19, takes it over the 30, 35, 40 up the right sidelines and he is knocked off his feet as he gets to the 42 yard line. So about a 23 yard return. West Valley good field position to start the second half.

Jerry Allen, the 160 pound young man over there, number 21 was a guy that made that tackle, but that was a nice little return. Usually you're up back. He did a nice job of going right down the hash and then breaking it out towards the numbers and showed some pretty good speed. So West Valley has it first and 10 at their own 42. Ball on the right hash.

Three receivers split left, one man wide right, Turley the quarterback. Four men down on the line for Rodgers. There's the snap back and they hand it off and getting into the middle. And now bouncing to the right side goes the running back. I think it's Mogan and he has run backwards.

Nope, that is Austin Clark who has entered the game now. So Clark did not play in the first half and he is in for the second half. We did not receive the reason as to why he did not play in the first half, but he did not. And so that's a gain of about 3 yards on the play. They don't do targeting in high school, do they?

So it's not like he had a targeting penalty, you know, in the second half and had to sit out the first half of this game. Well, let me make sure that I'm not misidentifying somebody here. Gain a three on the play. Second down and seven. Turley runs now off the right side, gets hit, drags a tackler forward that is Bedford that he drags forward.

And he'll get a first down down to the 47 yard line. Rodgers. So after the Clark run of three, you get a run of eight by Turley and a Damon orthodontics first down. You know, Clark brings an added dimension to this West Valley offense. He did a nice job that time.

Led Turley up the middle and sealed on the linebacker. Looked like, I think he might be favoring an ankle, so he might have had a little bit of an injury. But he's sucking it up and coming out and playing. But a nice block by him. Yeah, Clark is in the game.

He's the running back now to start the second half of play. First down and 10 at the Rogers 47. Turley wants to throw deep ball right side looking for Muns leaping try. Incomplete. Being covered down there.

Man on man by Jerry Allen. And a leaping try by Muns incomplete. Down at around the 15 yard line. That was not a bad throw at all. Just an excellent job by Turley to get that ball out there and give Muns a chance, you know, to make the play.

Muns is your big play guy. That's who they want to isolate. But you got one on one going on out there. That's a tough match. Good hand fighting between wide receiver and defensive back.

Very nice play overall. So second and 10 now for West Valley. Trips to the left, one man wide right, ball on the right hash again, Turley wants to throw, fades back, pressure on, flips it out intended for Allen and all over him. And now a flag comes in late from across the field. Let's see what this is.

You might have a legal men downfield because that ball was thrown past the line of scrimmage. And Joel Murphy, who's basically the side judge on this side, he's looking for those offensive linemen. If you throw the ball behind the line of scrimmage, the offensive lineman can be 5, 6 yards downfield. That ball was 2 yards in front of the line of scrimmage. I think that's what you're going to have.

So ineligible downfield. Good catch, Paul. And it is declined. It's only a five yard penalty. It would have given him the down over again.

So the pass was incomplete. And so it's going to be third and 10 now for West Valley at the Rodgers 47 from the right hash. Munn splits to the right side. Three men go to the left. Clark the running back to the left of the quarterback, Turley Rogers showing blitz.

Here they come. Turley rolls to the left Side gets flushed back to the right. Still running. Turley to the 50. Throws incomplete.

Hit Muns in the right shoulder pad. He had Jayson Moore all over him as well. Incomplete pass. Fourth and 10 at the Rodgers 47. Wow.

Just good pressure that time. You mentioned the blitz and just a nice job by the inside backers shooting between the center and the guard there. And they overwhelmed West Valley's offensive line. They rushed more guys than they could block. And Turley was running for his life there and then still was able to get off pass and nearly completed it.

Dunfield to punt. Standing at his 40. Jayson Moore inside his 20 yard line. Dunfield a left footed punter. Now they fake it.

It's snapped back to the quarterback. Turley who runs to the left side, fires the ball downfield. Overthrown intercepted. Deon Kinsey overthrown looking for Muns. And Rodgers was not fooled by that.

They had three players around there. It was over. Three thrown. And Kinsey gets the interception. Why not?

He's doing everything else. You know, that actually is better than the puns that they've had kind of the last couple times. But that was a fake and that you've got to be, you got to be conscious of where that quarterback is. You saw him as an upback. If I see that, I'm letting my teammates know, hey, we got a quarterback up front.

Watch the fake. Watch the wide receivers. If they're breaking down to try to run a route, you know, that's exactly what they did. He just overthrew the receiver. And of course Kinsey made a great play.

And that's his second turnover personally that he's done here in the, in the game. Yep, he's recovered a fumble for a touchdown and intercepted a pass. Now Kinsey the receiver to the right side. They hand it off. Bodman has a little seam, gets out over the 35 yard line.

Now the rugby scrum. They never do tackle him. He gets to the 37 for a gain of about 5 yards. I like the way he runs and just a nice job. The center and the two guards are doing a really good job of getting push against this well shot.

West Valley front. So they're, they're moving those guys off the line of scrimmage. That was a nice little five yard run. Looked like it went nowhere. So second down and five, we are counting down.

Inside of 10 minutes remaining. Third quarter, Rogers 22, West Valley seven ball on the right hash. Kinsey splits to the right. Moore slotted inside. Warwick out to the left.

Proctor out of the pistol Bodman behind him. Kinsey in motion. Pop past to Kinsey, runs to the left side trying to get to the corner. Gets out over the 40 yard line, spins out of a tackle and will be knocked off his feet as he gets up to about the 43 yard line. Nathan Jeffries was over there among others to help bring him down.

But the first down play, Brink takes him out to the 43. Nice sportsmanship by defensive end Riley Gilbreth. Picking up Kinsey. He's laying on the the ground. He reaches over and grabs him by the shoulder pads and pops him back up there.

That's, that's classy by that young man. Well done. Gain a six on that play. And the Pirates with a new set of downs. Clock counting down with 9:05 remaining in the quarter.

And they have 10 seconds to get this playoff as they break the huddle. Warrick wide left. Moore slotted inside him. Kinsey splits to the right. They hand it to Bonneau, fake it to Bodman.

Here's a deep throw, looking for Kinsey behind the defense. Got it. 3025 yard line being pursued. Breaks a tackle at the 201510 and is finally run down at about the 5 yard line. Proctor's pass was under thrown or that would have been another touchdown.

Kinsey still gets it all the way down to the five yard line. It'll be first down, goal to go. And he's tired, man. Oh, now he's going to the ground. He's.

He is a tired dude. And so they're gonna have to get somebody. I wonder if they rolled up in his ankle on that tackle there. But he's done an awful lot in this and he's awfully tired. Hopefully he's going to be okay.

52 yards on that pickup. Puns Kinsey over 100 yards receiving in my book here. And the athletic trainers come out onto the field to have a look at him. Keith Eggleston, the lead trainer, longtime athletic trainer in this area. And so Keith, along with head coach Ryan Cole and someone else down there for Rogers and now Khalil Winfrey is headed toward something one of the assistant coaches over there.

And it might be a puffer. Yeah, a little inhaler. Yep. So he might have asthma. That might explain it.

That's not fun. It's hard to play when you can't breathe. Now, we had a guy on our team, in fact, I carried the puffer in my sock. We did. He was the other corner.

So whenever he had had an issue, he. I had the little inhaler thing. And I'd give it to him. I don't know why he couldn't carry it, but I guess I had to. 844, 844 remaining to play here in the third quarter.

Bodman off the left side into the end zone. Touchdown. Touchdown. Rogers off left tackle. Bodman through a wide hole there.

His second rushing touchdown of the game, this one from five yards out. And the Pirates have a 287 lead here early in the third quarter. Boy, they're taking control of this game. Remember the turnovers? That was set up again by Kinsey.

Interception. And that of course, he also had that big catch and run as well. But Bodman, he's been a beast with his second touchdown run of the night. Just doing a nice job of running between the tackles, which opens up your passing lanes. When you can run the football effectively like the Pirates are doing right now, your whole game comes into play.

And they're playing very well right now. Going for two out of the pistol formation, receivers to either side, they pop it ahead. Jayshawn Moore trying to get outside on the left side, running for the corner and he's in for the two point conversion. So proctor the two point pass to Jayshawn Moore and we will take a timeout. 8:25 remaining to play here in the third quarter.

Here's Sanders kickoff, a line drive downfield, grabbed at the 19, taken out over the 30, 35, 40 and getting to the 45 and Sanders with a nice tackle that time on the return by Barham to bring him down. If he hadn't done that, Barham would been able to score and West Valley will take over at their own 46 yard line. It looks like here our STCU touchdown drive recap. A 68 yard drive for Rogers, a five yard rushing touchdown from Bodman, a 52 yard pass to Kinsey set up the touchdown.

Two point conversion. Good. It's a 30 to 7 pirate lead. West Valley with a ball at their own 46. First down and 10.

The quarterback Turley out of the gun will hand it off. Clark off the left side has a big opening, crosses the 50, breaks a tackle 45, cuts to his right, runs into Morse, goes past him, gets down to the 37 yard line and that's going to be a first down and a run of 17 yards for Austin Clark. Oh, Clark makes a difference in there. And that was Bedford again with his third tackle all the way downfield. The defensive lineman was the guy that finally knocked him off his feet.

West Valley after The Damon Orthodontics first down has it first and 10. Here's the handoff again. Clark winds into the middle of the field, gets inside the 35, down to the 33 yard line. Again Clark did not play in the first half. We're not sure why he did not in on the tackle that time.

The 330 pound nose tackle Marcus or Linzo. His fourth tackle of the day. By the way. Clark, they're gonna have to score in every possession to get back in this game down 30 to 7. Rogers has dominated this game with.

Was it 5 turnovers now or 4? 4 turnovers on West Valley and they've scored on every one of them. No, all but one. All but one second down and about six out of the empty backfield. Turley will run dancing in off the left side.

Doesn't get much as he will get from the 33 down to the 32 it looks like for a gain of a yard, don't get him into the 31. We'll call it a two yard gain. It'll bring up third down. Yeah, that was just he. If he would have gone left, he would have had a chance there.

Just a missed block by one of those interior linemen in there. If they were able to seal that guard, he would have had some pretty good running room. Just kind of, kind of whiffed on him and he ran right into the dude he's supposed to block. Inside of seven minutes remaining now in the third quarter. Third down and about three we'll call.

Well, third down and four, we'll call it from the 31. They have taken down around the 27 yard line here. Running back Clark out of the backfield in motion. Turley will run off the left side, cuts back to his right. First down inside the 25, steps out of a tackle at the top 20, cuts back, gets inside the 15 and finally Kinsey throws him down as he gets to the 10 yard line.

It'll be first down, goal to go, but a good run that time by Turley for the first down. Fourth tackle by Kinsey. He's got a pick and a fumble recovery and he's, he's over a hundred yards receiving on offense. Colorado's got a pretty good two way player. Well, so does Rogers high school.

Well, and he plays on kickoffs and everything else. And he plays with a broken, broken thumb. He is in a linebacker right now for this Rogers team. First and goal, West Valley at the Rogers 10. Two backs in the backfield with the quarterback Turley.

Turley takes a snap, runs it himself off the right side, gets hit, struggles forward, gets a couple of yards. It looks like down to around the eight before he is stopped. They had Kane down in there for Rogers and also I think Vega in there on the stop. And you also have to think if you're West Valley, if you score, you have to go for two. You have to remember Rogers has done a couple two point conversions.

You score three touchdowns with three two point conversions, you give yourself a chance. That's 24 points right there it gets you in the game. Rodgers leads 30 to 7, 535 remaining. Third quarter, second and goal from the eight ball on the right hash. Two backs in the backfield.

Turley takes the snap, runs himself to the right side, gets away, cuts back, gets inside the five and is down to about the three yard line. So that's going to gain about five more yards. It'll bring up third and goal for West Valley. Two down territory for sure. But that was just a nice run.

Good lead block, you know from what by Austin Clark. Not only can he run the ball, he's a good blocker up front. And they also pulled the guard in a nice tight end seal over there. That was a nice run. Good touchdown.

Saving tackle though by Rodgers to finally knock him down a three. So third and goal now from the three yard line for West Valley. Clock continues to run inside of five minutes remaining to play. Third quarter, Clark the running back set to the right of the quarterback. Turley one man set to his left as well.

That's Mogan and movement up front. And that's probably going to be offside on Rogers. Nope, I think it's going to be false start. Oh wow. I thought I saw one of the officials point the other way.

As that time it was Barrett that got into the backfield, but Clark was able to evade him and get you into the end zone for the rushing touchdown.

And West Valley gets this lead back to 17. Yeah, that was, that was an absolute must have for West Valley to score here. It's still a three score game. They're going to kick an extra point. Nice job though that time on that drive.

Here's the snap back ball spotted. The kick is up and it is good. And so now it's a 30 to 14 ballgame. We will take a timeout. Yes, we do need to take a timeout.

Bodman, the running back has been excellent. The quarterback Proctor has been played well and my favorite player, Kinsey, he's All over the field. Probably selling popcorn right now before the kick. No, he is back deep to receive. Okay, gets the opportunity here.

This is just a little onside kick almost. And it goes off. One up, man, that was Kane. But into the hands of another one of the guys up there in the front. That was Miguel Pacheco Torres, who ends up grabbing it.

And Rogers will take it at the 45. And then Kane came over and wrapped up Torres and grabbed him. You know, it almost looked like he had a little bundle there, but he was probably thanking him for recovering that. That thing was a seed that went right through his hands. And I think that's what they're hoping for is to kick it hard enough maybe to get a ricochet off one of those guys up front.

So Rogers at their own 45. Very good field position here. First down and 10 on the right. Hash Mark. Kinsey the slot receiver inside.

Kane to the right side. Moore slotted inside. Warrick out to the left, out of the pistol formation. Proctor wants to throw it quickly, has a catch. Kane curls over the 45, tries to cut back and get to the midfield stripe.

And he is stopped at the 49. It looks like that'd be a gain of four yards. Gad Lewis, the 511 junior over there was the one on coverage, came up, did a nice job in man to man coverage over there and makes a tackle in the open field. Decent game, keeps the clock going. That's Rogers.

Remember, the clock is their friend right now. So grinding out first downs. Even if you don't score, you want e clock. Noah Gad Lewis, the junior defensive back in on the stop. Second and six now 13 on the play.

Clock 349 on the game clock. Kinsey in motion, right to left through the formation, out of the pistol. Proctor takes the snap. Now back in motion toward the formation is Kinsey. Handoff goes to Bodman.

He'll drive his way across midfield and should have a first down to the 45 of West Valley. A gain of 6 yards on the play. Tackle made by Riley Gilbreth, but not until Bodman gets six. And Bodman has really done a nice job of running the football here, keeping that clock going. Let's give the offensive line for Rodgers a lot of credit.

They have opened holes, they have protected their quarterback in Proctor and they've given them the ability to get the football downfield to Kinsey, who's had a brilliant game on both sides of the ball. But it starts with those big fellas up front. Those linemen are row at center Layman and Burgess at guard. Merrickson Barrett at tackle. First and 10.

Rogers out of the pistol at the east. At the West Valley 45. They hand it again. Bodman off left guard, dives close to the 40. They'll put him at the 41.

It looks like maybe the 42. So only three yards on the pickup to the 42 yard line. The Kaia Burgess, who was the first team All GSL player last year, the senior was the guy that was able to come control the D tackle on that one and drive him into the ground. And Bodman. Wait.

What did they move it back? Why are they putting it back at the line of scrimmage? I thought it was a four yard gain, wasn't it? That was a handoff. Oh, that's weird.

Evidently they ruled it a pass. Was it forward? I didn't think it was forward. I thought it was backwards. I.

Well, second down and 10. Sorry to cut you off there, but I couldn't believe that back to throw it as Proctor swings it out of the backfield. Bodman at the the 50, down the sidelines 45, 40 and is dragged out of bounds as he gets to the 40 yard line. Taken out by Tate Leisure Meyer as he gets five yards. Well, that was an interesting call because that was a handoff.

He handed the ball back behind him. You know, on that play, I was watching the blocking up front. You know, that wasn't a pitch forward or anything. That was a handoff backwards. So I don't, I don't get where that was considered a pass.

And we have another Rogers player down. Is that Kinsey? I think it is, yeah. And so Keith Eggleston and Ryan Cole, the head coach down there, they have. And now it looks like they're looking at his left ankle.

Jeez. So it'll be third down and five here from the West Valley 40 for Rogers. Still with 219 remaining to play in the third quarter quarter and Rogers holding a 3014 lead. Sturm Heating and Air Conditioning. They're your H Vac experts since 1945 and they're just getting started.

And you Know get him back in the football game because of what he means to this Rogers pirate program. So third and five Pirates at the West Valley 40. Hartman Warrick splits to the left side. The other three receivers go to the right out of the pistol, Proctor hands it and pressure in the backfield and they drop Bodman for a loss. He never had a chance.

Tyson Mogan came breaking through and they, they were coming with an all out blitz that time and they stopped Bodman for a loss of three. Defensive coordinator Jeff Hensley said, enough of this noise. We're not going to sit back and let him pick us apart. We've got to get the football back. You're down to 155 left here in the third quarter.

But West Valley, if they get a chance, they can cut this thing to a two score game. If they can get, you know, decent field position on this, drive it down the field and score Kinsey back in there is the protective back here. Fourth down and eight, here's the snap back. Sanders should have let that going, but he catches it right at the 20 yard line and that's where West Valley will have it. First down and 10. You never know when that ball hits down whether it's going to hit back, come back and your way or not, or if it'll bounce further down the field. But I thought he could have let that bounce further, but he elected to grab it and that's where West Valley will have it, right at their own 20. That ball is caught and there should have been an illegal block on Muns as that ball is taken down inside the 40, down to the 37 yard line by Levi Barum. But he got a block while the ball was in the air from Muns and that was not seen by the officials. Yeah, Barham ran a wheel Route coming out of the backfield that time and they lost track of him. Linebacker or one of the defensive backs need to pick him up.

There was nobody there. Maybe got caught up in the wash. But that was a beautiful design play that time by the offensive coordinator Lonnie Kirk. Good job by that young man to call that wheel route by, you know, to get the ball into the hands of Barnum. Barnum.

43 yards on that passing gain and a Damon orthodontics. First down to the Rogers 37 trips right, one man wide left, quarterback running, that is Turley. Goes off the right side. Not much there for him. He will get a yard, maybe two on the play.

Down around the 36, maybe the 35 yard line. It'll be second, second down and long. Deontay Bedford has played brilliantly for this defense. That's his fourth tackle, his tackle for loss. He has an interception.

He has been all over the field in this game doing some great stuff. Love the way that he competes at that defensive end spot. Number 10. So Erlinzo slow in getting up. So the big man will have to leave.

Here as into the game is Joseph Uran at £270. Clark out of backfield in motion to the right side. And Turley wants to run to the right. Cuts back, crosses the 35 and gets down to about the 32, maybe the 31 yard line before he is brought down bed for. Yeah, Bedford there on the stop.

It'll be a big third down coming up as we come to the end of the third quarter of play here downtown at One Spokane Stadium. I'm Larry Weird. After 1/4 of play, it was Rogers 14 to nothing. It was Rogers 227 at the half. Now it's Rogers 30 to 14 as we start the fourth quarter. Well, it's been a great, great football game here.

Unless you lose a bunch of yardage here, get a quarterback sack or something that sends you several yards backfield, not just 1 or 2 yards, but something where they lose 7, 8 yards and it's 4th and 10 or more. You're having a score in every possession. I mean it's basically desperation time. You've got 12 minutes to try to make up 17 points. Pretty crazy, you know, to see what's going on out on the field.

But you know what? Having the addition of Austin Clark back at running back, Larry, has made a difference for this West Valley offense. They're playing very well right now. Rogers in their black jerseys with gold numerals, black pants, black helmets. West Valley in their white jerseys with or black numerals trimmed in orange, black pants and white helmets here as we start the fourth quarter of play from 1 Spokane Stadium, third and four at the Rogers 31.

Three wide receivers, two of them split to the right side. Now motion coming from the left and they fake the handoff on the fly sweep. Give it away. Clark, he gets through traffic and I think has a first down down to the 27 yard line somebody had a chance at him at the 30 and he was able to break free. And he gets that four yards needed down to the Rodgers 27.

That's what he gives you. He gives you that extra little burst and then you can combine that with a passing attack on the outside. Because now Rodgers has to, you know, be concerned about this run. So a quick score here and then another stop. Got ourselves a ball game.

Munn split to the left side, two men wide to the right. Two tight ends in the game as well. Man out of the backfield in motion. That's Clark Turley. Quarterback draw into the middle, gets hit at the line of scrimmage and that's it.

He is stopped. Erlinzo had him. Nope, it was Mesa that had him. The other Vega rather. Excuse me, the other defensive tackle.

No gain on the play. Yeah, he just kind of ran in there and really no place to go. So a nice job of the defensive front by Rodgers kind of holding their water there and playing good gap defense and, you know, and I really like those big guys up the middle, you know, they have done a really good job in this football game making plays and controlling that spot there.

Turley unofficially. 15 carries, 92 yards. Second and 10 at the Rogers 27. Turley out of the gun, takes the snap, fakes the handoff, rolls to the left side, looking downfield, throwing, has a drop. His man was open, the tight end that time.

Dunfield dragging to the sidelines, but the ball went through his hands. Incomplete. Third down. Yeah, and he also, you know, on the outside over there, just doing a great job trying to get the ball in a month's hands. He came back for it.

Looked like he's cramping up a little bit, too. These guys have been playing hard and, you know, really extending themselves. The big fella, it looks like Orlenzo is coming off the field to get a. Get a little bit of a breather. He's been chasing the quarterback all over the place here today.

Yeah. Mackay Burgess into the game at 250 pounds at defensive tackle now third and 10 for West Valley. They'll have three men split to the right side here and one man wide to the left. Play clock down to two. They take the snap.

Turley to throw. Has time now. Pressure coming late. Runs out to the right side, fires to the sidelines, has a comeback. Catch on the sidelines and being run out of bounds is Legia Meyer down at the 24 yard line.

Cherry Allen ran him out. Gain of 3 and a huge 4th and 7 is coming yeah, Lej Meyer thought his knee went down when he hit. That ball's a little bit low, so he had to go down to the ground to pick that up. But he was able to keep that knee off the ground. Great job there.

And was still able to get a couple more yards. But this is a very big play. 10:40 to go in the game. You're on fourth down here. Rogers is hanging on.

If they can get a stop here, they're going to be in really good shape. This is a must get for west valley right now. Fourth down and seven at the 24 of Rodgers. Ball on the right hash mark. Two men come to either side and West Valley is going to take a timeout.

Down to 2 on the play clock. And they had again for the second straight play. Confusion over where people should be aligned. And West Valley takes a timeout with 10:39 remaining to play here in the half. And they may need that timeout later in the game.

Larry, that's, that's, that's one you don't want to have to call there. And that's one thing that drives head coach Craig Whitney nuts. You know, get your play in, you know, whatever it happens to be. No. On fourth down, you've got a certain set of plays that you have.

You've had success running the football. You've done a nice job, you know, in terms of making plays. Austin Clark has given you kind of an extra boost here in the second half. Your quarterback, Turley has been running the ball pretty effectively. So you've got kind of a two headed monster there and little RPO action I think would be a really good thing right now for this football team.

On 4th and 7. Would you run it? Yeah, no, I fake the run and throw a pass. I try to get, you know, one of those receivers out, have a short route, have a deep route and then hit that intermediate route about, you know, seven to 10 yards. We'll see what they do here.

Fourth down and seven. Huge play in this football game with 10:39 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. Quarter. Legemeyer will be split to the right side. Tate Legemeyer.

And then three men are wide to the left here. Ball on the right. Hash out of the shotgun. Turley's got Clark to his right in the backfield. Turley takes the shotgun.

Snap, numbers high. Here comes the pressure. They've got him. He gets away. Running out to the left side.

Barrett had him for a moment, now throws. And that's intercepted. Fifth turnover of the game for West Valley. That Is picked up by Andrew Willett. But that was set up by Barrett who pressured the quarterback and forced him out scrambling.

And he just threw it because he had to do something there. And will it intercepts. And Rogers forces the turnover. And they take over at the 20 yard line. Turley almost threw a shot put out there.

I mean, he was just trying to get rid of that thing to keep it alive. And, you know, just a nice job by Andrew Willett coming in there. The senior has a couple attacks, tackles and a pick. This defense for Rodgers has played absolutely brilliantly in this game. And they have really been the difference maker so far, you know, in terms of this 30 to 14 lead.

Rodgers at their own 20. Ball on the right hash mark. They have three men in the backfield. Kinsey is a wing now set to the left of the quarterback, Proctor, and the running back, Bodman is behind. They start motion, coming through Jayson Moore, they'll pitch it to him.

A little pop pass. Running to the left side, trying to get to the sidelines. And he has just tripped up. Beautiful play defensively by Andrew Royston, a junior linebacker for West Valley. Just got the feet of Moore before he could get to the corner.

Gain a two. Royston's had a good game. He's a captain as well. He's a junior. He's got five tackles on the day and he just, he swept the leg there.

It just got him enough because he was starting to pick up steam. He had a. He had a nice wall set up kind of on the left sideline there. If he's able to get around that and avoid that tackle, he's gonna have a big play. Jayson Moore gets a couple of yards on that play.

Second and eight now for Rodgers. And the clock counts down. Inside of 10 minutes remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. Same formation. Everybody though, tight to the line here.

Proctor out of the pistol, takes the snap, hands it to Deon Kinsey off the left side. He gets to the 25 and that will be it for him for a gain of about 3 yards there as Cesar Washington was there on the stop. So it'll be third and five. Couple things that are happening here. Great job by Rodgers to get the defensive stop.

The clock continues to run. You're going to kick the ball away if you can't get it here on fourth down. You know, if you get first downs now, the clock really becomes an ally for you. It's about two to three minutes, you know, per first down deal. And that's kind of what you want to do.

You don't have to score here. You just need to get a couple of first downs. Zakar Washington on that last stop. So third and five, ball on the left hash mark. Here comes the blitz from West Valley and time is called by Rogers here as they had six seconds remaining on the play clock.

Nine minutes remaining on the game clock and they're going to talk it over here. They saw the blitz coming and the coaches call timeout. So we'll see if a different play comes and we'll see what West Valley does defensively. And again they stopped the clock here so they won't be able to run as much time off that as they could. But they were running down the time on the the play clock anyway. You don't want to take the penalty.

I had no problem with that. Get on the right page. Know what you're supposed to run, you know, take that time out there. If you get a first down, the clock's going to continue to run. Now that's good coaching.

I like what you know what head coach Ryan Cole is doing. And let's give this staff a lot of credit. They have turned this program around and they're a force here in the two way level. Proctor is going to be a wide receiver split to the right side. So Kinsey will be the quarterback here again West Valley showing blitz.

Kinsey running designed run to the right side. Cuts up field again about the outside. He's over the 30, 35, toe dance down the sidelines and finally goes out of bounds at the 38 yard line. That's a gain of 13 and a Damon Orthodontics first down and he got 13 yards where he probably should add two. He's my most valuable player.

I love the way this kid plays. And it looked like he was gonna get tacked for maybe a two yard gain and then he somehow stepped out of that and then just jetted to the right side and did a little serpentine right up the West Valley sidelines there. Was able to keep his feet in. That was a brilliant run. So first down and 10.

Rogers, he went out of bounds there. So the clock stops with 8,52. But still they'll Be able to take some time off here. Kinsey split to the right side. Two men wide left.

Moore slotted inside. Hartman, Warrick, two men down in the line. They'll hand it off. Bodman off the left side, squirts out over the 40 and drives the pile out near the 45 yard line. So Bodman gets 7 yards on first down.

Good run there. And hanging on for dear life. And helping to make that tackle again was Riley Gilbreth for West Valley. He's played well. Forced fumble, fumble recovery and three tackles.

He's been a force. The defensive ends on both of these teams, I think have played very, very well. This has really been a fun game to watch them go at it. And they're going to continue to work this clock, continue to try to keep that ball on the ground and continue to try to get first downs. Gavin Bodman, unofficially, 17 carries, 86 yards here in this ballgame with a couple of touchdowns.

Second and three now for the Pirates. Kinsey, the wing to the right. The quarterback Proctor hands it to Kinsey running off to the left side. And he will be stopped short of a first down. Muns was there to bring him down.

We have an injured Pirate down in the field and a flag at the 46 yard line. And that the. Or the. Yeah, that's where the. The flag is right where the tackle was made.

So let's see what this is all about. The injured Pirate is Treshawn Barrett. Oh, boy, he's been a beast. He's cramping. Yep, he is cramping.

We do have a marker down, so let's see what this is all about. Timeout is taken on the field while the cramping situation is handled here by Keith Eggleston, the athletic trainer for the Pirates. Yeah, Keith has done a really nice job. Stcu, they've been amazing member at Odin Cooperative and they've been helping neighbors in the inland Northwest since 1934. Proud to support this league. And so there was a penalty that was tacked on to the end of the run there. I think it was probably a grabbing the face mask. Face mask maybe. I'm not sure if I didn't see the sign from John Love, the referee here.

So a one yard gain for Kinsey. They tack five onto it with the penalty. And so now the Pirates will have it at the West Valley 49. Clock running 750 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter. Rogers 30, West Valley 14 into the game is a tight End here is Bedford.

He is set to the right. They have three backs in the backfield. Proctor, the quarterback, hands it off. Jayshawn Moore leaps over one man, then got hit and driven backward. Great hit that time by Zakara Washington.

And a loss of a yard that time for Jayshawn Moore. His fourth tackle. He's been a busy bee. He also has a sack. He's played very well.

He's a junior. He's 5 11. He got another. I think that's Washington down and he's cramping. So these guys are giving, you know, extra effort in this game.

It means a lot for both of these teams and they've exerted themselves big time in this football game and they're paying a little bit of a price for it. Time for the old electrolytes to kick in here. And so the outstanding defensive end is being stretched out there. Sakara Washington, he is 5' 11, 190 pounds. He is just a junior.

He was the first or a second first team all conference last year, I think. I can't remember. Oh yeah. Second team all conference last year as a sophomore. So that's pretty good.

I mean, he. But now you see his hair when he was back in the day, it was impressive. So second 11 now for Rogers with the ball right at midfield. Proctor will be the quarterback. They've got more in there as the man to his left, kind of as over to his right, rather kind of as a fullback.

And Bodman the running back behind clock. Running inside of seven minutes remaining to go here in the fourth quarter. Down to 12 on the play clock. Proctor takes the snap toss sweep. Bodman to the right side, gets through some traffic, breaks a tackle gets inside the 45 to the 44 for a gain of six yards and brings up another third down and five.

Good job by the right side of that offensive line to help lead the way that time. Joseph Uran, 6:1, a 270 pounder was out there to help lead the way. Yeah, that was Levi Barnum out there on the tackle. He's been a busy bee. That was his fourth tackle as well.

So I just like the way that, you know, the running back bottom, you know, was able to kind of see that hole and then just rocket up field and really created some nice speed and energy going forward. Moore and Warrick split to the left side. One man wide to the right. Third and five from the west valley 44. Snap back to Proctor running back.

He and running back didn't communicate again, but Proctor takes off and gets the first down anyway. Down to the 37 yard line again. He turned the wrong way but was able to keep his head and turn back and get the first down. Down to the 37. Hey, keep that play in your playbook.

That's like a quarterback counter, like you're faking to the running back who's going the wrong way and that the linebackers are reading the running back so they're seeing the running back go one direction, quarterback goes another. Often you've got a hole there. They've had two really good plays. I don't know if that's a design play or just an oopsie play, but if it is an oopsie play, keep it in the playbook. Achilles Willett splits to the left side.

Two men wide right. First down. Clock running 535 remaining to play. Here's a handoff. Bodman into the middle, squirts free inside the 30.

Down to the 25. Another Damon Orthodontics first down run. Bodman goes over 100 yards in the ball game with a 14 yard advantage down to the 23. Well, he has really been the workhorse here, especially in the second half. You know, there's been some big plays.

Five turnovers by this Rodgers defense. That's five possessions. That's just a great job. They've only turned it over once themselves. So you're plus four in that and that really makes a huge difference.

Plus you're starting to wear out that defense for West Valley. They've been on the field an awfully long time. This has been a great drive for Rogers. First down and 10. They have it down at the west valley 23.

Pistol formation. Bodman behind Proctor. Man in motion. They Pot pip. Pitch it to him.

That's Achilles Willett and he gets down inside the 20 and we'll get to the 17, maybe the 16 yard line. So Achilles Willett on the run for a gain of 6. Yeah, that was a pass play. It was because he popped it ahead. Gain of six and will it.

If he would have just cut up, he went about two, three steps and was looking to where to cut. If he would have. He's going to look in film and just go, there's nobody in front of me. He just kept running. He ran kind of right into where the pack was.

Oh, well. So again, a six on the play. Second down and four. Now Bodman the running back behind Proctor the quarterback. They operate out of the pistol ball on the left hash mark.

One receiver goes left, two men wide right and they'll run it. Bodman fumbles the ball, but he got it back. But he ran right into the defender. 6 foot 3, 290 pound Adonis Brown was waiting for him. And right there also was Andrew Royston to try to snag that ball.

But Bodman doing a nice job to catch that ball. And a timeout is taken here by West Valley. That is their second. They will have one remaining, a loss of a yard in the play. It'll be third down and five coming up.

And you're right, Larry, this has been a phenomenal drive. I mean, I'm not sure what, what yard line it was on, but it was, it was back in Rogers territory. They just been grinding their way, you know, up the field and you've worn out a pretty darn good West Valley team. This has been a very impressive effort by Rogers tonight at both sides of the ball. Their drive started at the 20 yard line.

So this has been a 62 yard drive as they stand now. They got down to the 17 earlier before losing a yard in the last place. So it had been a 63 yard drive and they have used a lot of time off the clock, around six minutes and that's the key. And again, they don't have to score. They have done what they needed to do to win this Football game because of this time consuming, yard consuming, clock consuming drive.

Moore is a wing to the right off the hip of the tight end. Bedford Achilles Willett split to the right side and Hartman Warrick split to the left. Again the pistol formation with the running back Bodman behind the quarterback. Proctor and officials are waiting for something. It's not tv.

Not sure why the umpire is. They want to I think put time on the clock four minutes and say add five seconds. There's four minutes, 10 seconds now remaining to play. So third down and five now Rodgers at the West Valley 18 out of the pistol. Quarterback Proctor just waiting, watching the play.

Clock go down. But the clock's not running. There's the snap back, they pitch it to Moore running to the left side, cuts up field, gets inside the 50 and he may have the first down. Looks like he will at the 13 yard line and that pretty much will salt this game away. Well, Moore did a great job in finding that hole.

That hole opened up and he saw it. He planted that left foot and cut straight upfield. Great blocking. Again we talk about Rogers offensive line but also the tight end was able to seal the end there. And that's where Moore cut right up underneath his hip.

And that was the difference in that. And you're exactly right, Larry. That first down is a backbreaker for West Valley. And so West Valley has one timeout remaining here. Moore is the line to the left of the quarterback.

Proctor, running back Bodman behind. They give it to Bodman. Big hole off the right side, gets inside the 10 and is just knocked off his feet as he gets to the seven yard line. That's a gain of about six yards there on first down. That was a big opening and West Valley's lucky.

They tackle well this offensive line. Man, I like what this is the first time I've had a chance to see Rodgers. I'm impressed. I love the way this team is playing, the improvement they have. The coaching staff has come together.

They are really doing a great job and they're winning the game in the trenches on both sides of the ball, the offensive line, the defensive line. And then you got playmakers all over the place with Kinsey and Bodman and Proctor and the receivers. Very impressive. Down to six on the play. Clock.

252 on the game. Clock out of the pistol again. Kinsey back in. They toss it to Bodman. Running wide on the right side, trying to get to the five.

Does breaks the tackle into the end zone. Touchdown Gavin Bodman. His third touchdown of the game. And with 2:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. Rodgers puts probably the final nail in the coffin of West Valley.

They lead at 36:14. What a great run, just a great job. Wide receiver on the outside was able to engage the corner and he just used that speed to kind of outrun everybody. They're going to have to go for two again, but what a great job by Bodman. Well over 100 yards rushing, three touchdowns and he was the difference in the second half.

His ground game in my opinion was really the reason it kept West Valley on their heels. There were some big plays by other players but Bodmin stepped up big time running the football. Rogers kicker got hurt earlier in the season so they have gone to going for two point conversions here since then and they will fake it to Kinsey, give it on a little reverse here to Moore and he's going to dance in for the two point conversion.

Fourth down and two now for West Valley at their own 43. Turley wants to throw, slings it out, has a catch. This should be good for a first down. Deon Kinsey brings down the receiver, that is Eric Borg. But he gets four yards up to the 47 yard line.

And he slowly got up, but he's going to be okay. And again, good hustle by him. So second down and about four now for West Valley. Got out of bounds. So 30 seconds remaining on the clock here.

Here. Turley takes the snap back. Being pressured, gets away, runs up the middle of the field now cuts to the right side gets to the 40, gets hit by Allen and brought down as he gets to the 37 yard line. But that's a gain of 10 more yards. And another first down for Turley.

He's over 100 yards rushing in the game. Turley felt the pressure that time, but that was a great read and he just took that ball right back up the middle. Made a linebacker miss. Good hustle by him. Clock counting down, 12 seconds left back to throw it as Turley fires it to the sidelines, incomplete behind Munn.

Jerry Allen over there on the coverage, the sophomore defensive back. So the Pirates eight seconds away from a victory here. They've got some sophomores playing big roles here. Allen in the secondary, the quarterback Proctor Michael Sanders has played quite a lot on defense in this game. So they've got a few sophomores that are.

They're building a nice little program. They are like seeing that and that's exactly the Hilliard flash over there. I love seeing them be relevant. Bodman, just a junior, the running back. So here's a handoff and getting away as Clark running to the left side, still on his feet over the 30, down to the 25 trying to get outside of Sanders who grabs him by the jersey.

And they'll swing it out to Muns. It's a lateral out to him. He drops the ball, it's picked up by Rogers, Deon Kinsey. There he goes. 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5.

Touchdown Rogers. It was a lateral, not an incomplete pass. And Muns was just. I'm not sure if he was trying to secure the ball or what, but he dropped it and it bounced right into the hands of Deion Kinzie who races down the right side for the touchdown. And Rodgers has a 13 to nothing lead, 44 yards on the fumble return for the touchdown by Kinsey.

So then West Valley gets the ball back, they fumble it away again, but Rodgers fumbles it right back. And then West Valley takes advantage. They go down the field two plays, 46 yards in the second quarter of play. And Ethan Turley, the quarterback, finds his best receiver, Parker muns for a 32 yard passing touchdown. Munn 6:4, 170 pounds.

So a long lanky receiver. He went up over Jayshawn Moore to make the touchdown catch and it was 14 to 7 with Pat. The teams traded punts. Rogers punted, West Valley punted it back Rogers took over at their own near the end of the half and they start a 56 yard drive that culminates with 12 seconds left in the half and Proctor the sophomore quarterback Jacob Proctor Jr.

With a 30 yard passing touchdown to Deon Kinsey. Two point conversion pass to Kinsey is good and it's 22 to 7 at the half. It's the start of the second half of play. Kinsey a fourth down interception on a fake punt on a ball thrown by the quarterback he Turley who was the up back in punt formation. So Kinsey gets the interception.

Kinsey also gets a 52 yard reception down to the five yard line to set up a five yard rushing touchdown for Gavin Bodman. Two point conversion good to Moore and it's a 30 to 7 game. West Valley answers with a one yard rushing touchdown by Clark to make it a 30 to 14 game. After the Pat Rogers punts, West Valley pass intercepted there fifth turnover of the game. Willett an interception and that started a long drive by Rogers better than seven minutes long.

They culminated with a Bodman seven yards rushing touchdown. More the two point conversion. Final score Pirates 38 and West Valley 14. So West Valley falls to four and one in the two a race. Six and one overall.

Six and two rather. Overall Rogers improves to three and two and five and two two overall. Just a great job, you know, by Rodgers. Excuse me, six and two. Yep, yep.

They were five and two coming in this game. But defense, five turnovers, doing an awesome job, giving you opportunities to score. Special teams, you know they, they kicked the ball away. A lot of crazy stuff happened that way. Had to go for two because their kickers hurt.

But offense, you know, just did a great job. And I really like what what I saw from Bodman. I love what I saw from Kinsey. And there's some explosives of plays and players on both of these teams but Rogers just had the upper hand and they had it right from the get go. So that is our game recap and the play of the game presented by Adams.

Plus they have to win next week anyway to make it into the postseason. So and again in the two way level you get a game off or a week off. So they will have no game the first week in November and they will get ready to play in the second week of November. Let's recap this ball game with a look at the stats. Rodgers, I had him at 149 rushing yards, 141 passing yards, 290 yards of offense.

Stats pretty even. 185 yards rushing for West Valley. 100 yards passing for 285 yards to 292, 285. But five turnovers to one in the ball game. West Valley with the five turnovers that is the difference in this ball game.

That's a plus four on your your possessions too. You're getting four extra pops at it because your defense were able to step up with fumble returns where they housed and also interceptions. So that's flips the field in terms of field position individually unofficially. Gavin Bodman 22 carries, 118 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Rogers rushing. Proctor 4 carries for 10 yards.

Kinsey 3 for 17. Moore 2 for 4. Proctor had a big game passing 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 11 of 14. 141 yards and a touchdown. No interceptions for Proctor.

Kinsey 6 catches, 116 yards to lead the receivers for West Valley. Turley the quarterback, 18 carries, 104 yards. Clark coming in in the second half, seven carries, 46 yards and a touchdown for them. Turley passing did not have a big day. 6, 8 out of 18 for a hundred yards, three interceptions and one touchdown.

Muns 32 yard catch, one catch, 32 yards and a touchdown. Barham the only guy. Oh no. Borg also had more than one catch. Barham, two catches, 51 yards.

Though Prep is the number one seed for the 4A in Mt. Spokane, number one seed for the 3A ridgeline playing the non GSL game as they will host Davis of Yakima tomorrow. Big game on the 2A side, Shadow park at Clarkston.

Both teams with one loss on the season. And the loser of that game will be. For all intents and purposes, there's still a path where if there's four teams tied at four and two, you could still get in, but the loser in all likelihood is out. And then Pullman plays at East Valley tomorrow as well. The 2A standings now, West Valley, 4 1, Clarkston, 4 1.

West Valley has defeated Clarkston, so if those teams both end up at 5. 1, West Valley would be the 1 seed. Clarkston will be the 2. Shadow Park, 3 and 1. So if they beat Clarkston tomorrow, they would be 4.

1 with with West Valley, Clarkston would fall back to 4 and 2, so Shadl and West Valley would be the top two seeds. West Valley beat SHADL earlier this year, so if they end up tied, West Valley would be the number one seed there. Rogers goes to 3 and 2. East Valley 1 and 3, Pullman 1 and 3, North Central O and 5. On the 3A side, Mount Spokane the number one seed into the postseason.

Ridgeline, number two. Prep, number one on the foray. LC's 3 and 3 Central Valleys 2 and 4. CV beat LC earlier in the year, so LC has to stay ahead of cv. If they end up tied, then CV gets the number two seed into the postseason and they have U High tomorrow night.
