3 FM. It is so great to have you with have you with us this afternoon leading into tonight's high school football action with former Eastern Washington defensive star TO Haunte Hayes. My name is Greg Talbot and coming up at the top of the hour we have a GSL matchup for you on the radio and online. It's the Rogers Pirates and the East Valley Knights. Deontay, We've seen a couple of these teams.

These are not the best teams in terms of being at the top of the standings right now, but they're both building something and it's pretty exciting. Yeah, they're building something really nice and they both have some really good players on their teams. Even though their records don't really reflect how good of a team they really are or the players that they have. They both have players who can go out there and make some good plays today. That's right.

So the Rogers Pirates coming into this game, they're 1 and 5 overall. 03 in the GSL. They their season's been a little bit up and down. They started by losing to Colville by 20 in week one, week two, bounced right back. They beat Medical Lake by 50 points.

Since then they have lost four straight. Freeman, Pullman, Schiedl and Clarkston. Here's the scary thing to haunt. There's only one game where the Rodgers defense has not given up 40 or more this year. Yeah, and that's going to be something that they're really going to have to key in on tonight if they want to come away with the win.

They've been struggling on the defensive side for sure. As for East Valley, they started off really badly, but then they bounced back. They started 0 and 5 losses to Clarkston, Lakeside, Deer Park, Bonners Ferry and West Valley. You did that game on TV a couple weeks ago. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere, week six, they beat North Central by 20 points.

Yeah, and East Valley definitely has someone over there in Diesel Wilkinson who can definitely make big plays out there. Go out there and change the game for them. If he has a great game tonight, he's going to definitely take over. So not a huge crowd because it's still just about 3. 30 more people will show up prior to kickoff here at Mead, but it's Rogers and East Valley coming your way at the top of the hour as we get going on the pregame show this afternoon and we'll take a break on it and then be back after this.

3 FM. 4:00 clock top of the hour, we will have East Valley and Rogers here from Union Stadium on your radio. And coming up not on the radio, but just here at Union Stadium tonight, another pretty good GSL matchup. It'll be a Lewis and Clark and Mead. That's here at Union Stadium at 7 o' clock tonight but again today's broadcast at 4 o'.

Clock. Rogers East Valley and to go over the keys to the game for this broadcast, let's bring it back in. Former Eastern star to hunt a. Hayes to hunt a. You've seen East Valley before, you know some about Rodgers.

Take us through your keys to the game tonight. Yeah, of course. So For Rogers, they have to let Kinsey Cook. He's a dynamic mobile quarterback with a strong army and he needs to go out there and make plays on the ground or through the air. Speaking of on the ground, they have to get outside whether it's runs or options because East Valley is really big up front and they're going to be able to stop them through the middle.

They have to find ways on defense to pressure the QB and make big stops because Diesel is going to be a problem for them if they allow Diesel to get going. Yeah, like we said, not only is Diesel a problem, over on the East Valley side of the ball, when we talked to the Rodgers coaches this week, they were pretty honest. They said they do not have a single senior. The defensive line, I think they said it's three sophomores in a junior. They've been given up more than 40 points a game on defense.

All but one game this year. It almost feels like the Rodgers D line is where this game is going to be won or lost. And I love that you brought that up about the how you young and youthful they are on the defensive side for Rodgers for and that brings me straight to the keys for East Valley because they're going to have to pound it up the middle and really take advantage of the youth that Rodgers has.

That's going to be huge point for them to come out here and get a win. Also on defense, their outside linebackers and DNS are going to have to be strong and stop Rogers from cutting up field on options and pitches. They're going to have to utilize the clock, take advantage of this game and make sure that the clock is all the way down. Yeah, no question about it. Also, I want to ask you because you did East Valley, West Valley on SWX on TV a couple weeks ago.

That was your first time seeing the Knights this year. They lost that game. But is there anything that you saw that you liked? Yeah, I saw Diesel taking full control of the game. He was automatically becoming force.

He was someone that we talked about the entire time. He was making players all over the place. He was a hard to take down who's running through tackles and he's very aggressive when he has the ball in his hands. He's going to be huge key for them. Yeah, East Valley has been known this year for really only having five or six guys that touch the ball.

But they touch the ball all the time. They run big boy sets. They try to force it down your throat. That I see. I don't see anything wrong with that because that's 100% true.

And that's what I seen. I see them fighting all the way to the very end and trying to make plays. Even though they were obviously not the better team on that day, they definitely played their hearts out. Well, honestly, when it comes to high school football in the gsl, and you've been around now long enough to know this to hunt a a lot of the time the schools are very evenly matched, especially those two A and three A schools.

They've got smaller numbers in the schools and you really only have four or five guys who truly set your team apart. So you make them your skill players and count on them to make one or two more big plays over the course of the night than the other team's three or four guys. Yeah, which is very true. And I see that as the seasons progress and the team start to get better and better, they're starting to produce more players who actually can come out and make more plays. So it's not just one or two guys are leaning on the whole time, but they're actually being able to spread it.

And I see a lot of growth between these teams. Already feels like we're going to be looking at the quarterbacks a lot tonight. Straight up Diesel Wilkerson for East Valley and an Aaron Kingsley for Rogers. That's what's going to be is going to be about the quarterbacks and that's what I love to see. Two quarterbacks being able to take control of their team, lead them.

They have a direct snap with the balls coming to them and they get to show what and set the tone for the game going on. Yeah, this is not going to be a confusing game tonight. It's the Lions and it's the quarterbacks and it's Rogers and East Valley coming your way at the top of the hour as we continue on the pregame show. I don't know, about 18 minutes at the top of the hour tonight on the Arby's GSL Game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. I'm Greg Talbot, he's Dehante Hayes De Haunte. A lot of great games going on around the rest of the Greater Spokane League tonight. Let's go ahead and take a look at the schedule.

So obviously because we have still not completed the new downtown stadium for the Spokane schools yet, we are still out here playing Thursday and Friday double headers, the occasional Saturday high school football game around these parts. So game one of tonight's doubleheader at Union is the game that is coming up in 20 minutes. It's Rogers against East Valley. Elsewhere tonight coming up at 7 o' clock at this stadium. Another good game.

I would say probably the second best game in the league tonight. Lewis and Clark against me. Now you have seen both of those teams. This might be a little bit too inside baseball for the people at home, but I think it might illuminate something. So a little bit of background.

I do teach English at Meade High School and I have a bunch of The Mead freshman football players in my third period class, they have been undefeated this year. They lost to Lewis and Clark last night. And Lewis and Clark, we know they've got gents Hilburn, they've got some players. They tend to hold on to games that they maybe should lose. It's tough to.

It's tough to defend the option if you're not used to it. Lewis and Clark has a chance here tonight against me at 7:00 on varsity. Yeah, LC definitely finds a way to come away with wins even when everyone stouty. Then they do a great job of utilizing Gents Hilburn, whether it's him taking direct snaps or him taking it from his quarterback, but he's automatically a force within the game. And even when he's catching punts or returning kicks, he's automatically a problem for them and he's helping them win games.

Yeah, Lewis and Clark at me. That is the 7 o' clock game at Union Stadium tonight. It is not on the radio, it's not on tv. It's going to be a good one. That's what I recommend trying to get to.

If you're looking for something to do tonight. Elsewhere in the gsl, Shadow park at Colville is happening. Clarkston at Pullman. That's a fun little game. Interesting for Ferris off of the South Hill.

They have a non GSL game tonight. They're playing Pasco out of the Tri Cities. That is. That's a strange scheduling thing for midway through the season, Dehante. Yeah, it is.

I mean, but I mean, have the teams come out here and allow them to play against all the competition they possibly can to show where they have grown from last year and show where they're going to continue to progress. This is how you allow your teams to get new players who want to come out and play this. Allow your programs to reach where you want it to go. Other games happening in the GSL tonight, Ridgeline at U High. U High should be pretty heavy favorites there.

Speaking of heavy favorites, Mount Spokane against Cheney. We liked Cheney when we saw them on the radio here about two weeks ago to haunt it. But Mount Spokane is a different beast. Yeah, it's going to be a tough matchup for Cheney. We liked what we saw.

They came out, they fought hard. They end up taking a loss that night. However, Mount Spokane has just been rolling. They've been doing a good job. They have good key players that they're utilizing and they're building a great program over there.

All right. Elsewhere, boy, the big game in the GSL tonight. It's so funny how it happens. You just understand that there are four teams that are above everybody else. It's G Prep, it's Mount Spokane, it's Mead, and it's Central Valley.

And there's only a couple of nights a year where those teams go head to head. And we've got a really good one tonight. Prep at Central Valley. Now Central Valley, they lost to Mead a couple weeks ago. I was at that game.

Hard to say who deserved to win. I think Central Valley feels like they should have won that game. But boy, you've seen Prep, the Haunted, they're. They're just rolling right now. Yeah, I've seen Prep and I watched them last year, I watched them this year.

They've lost players, they've gained players, but no matter what, players are stepping up and doing exactly what they need to do in order for them to win. They're the same team that was rolling over teams last year, and they're doing it again. This team this year and their program was just continuing to skyrocket. Yep, and no surprise, Gonzaga Prep, Central Valley. That is our square.

So you can catch that on SWX and get highlights of all these games coming up tonight at 11 o' clock on the local news on KHQ. First one of the traditional Union Stadium doubleheader that we've had the last two seasons.

It is the 1 in 5 Rogers Pirates and the East Valley Knights. Again it's coming up at 4 o'. Clock. Greg Talbot, the Haunte is with you and now it's time for us to take a look at the starting lineups tonight for these Rogers Pirates. On offense, let's take a look at their offensive line.

First they've got Trevin Barrett, Joseph Iran, Isaiah Rowe, Makai Burgess and Deontay Bedford. Their quarterback. You know him, he's one of the up and coming quarterbacks in the gsl just as a junior this year, Deon Kinsey. They're starting wide receivers Gabe Skinner, Jayson Moore and Hartman Warwick. Warwick's a tall guy, six feet tall.

Again a junior. He's part of the new core they're building on the outsides. They also really like Gabe Skinner as their slot wide receiver. Colby Bogle. Also not the tallest guy, he's more of a tight end, but he can go up and bring it down.

They've got four running backs who carry the load, but first among equals for them is Eric Griffey. Again, not the fastest guy, but he is a thick running back. He's good between the tackles and they're going to try to Punish it and run down the clock. We're going to be seeing a lot of Eric Griffey tonight for Rodgers. On the other side of the ball for the Pirates, let's take a look at their defense.

They have four down linemen. Trayvon Barrett, Sam Redford, Makai Burgess and Deontay Bedford. Three of those guys go both ways. Three of them are on the offensive line. And as we talked to the Rogers Pirates coaching staff this weekend, we mentioned this earlier in the pregame show.

They have three juniors and a sophomore. Not a single senior on the D line. And that's part of why they've been having trouble. They are inexperienced and they are still growing and they're still growing into their positions. They've got four linebackers as well, Colby Bogle, Kaya Jones, Andrew Willett and Eric Griffey.

Another two way player. We said he's a thick running back. That's because he's also an outside linebacker. And their defensive backs, they've got three. Gordon Warrick, Jayson Moore and Deon Kinsey.

Again, both of whom are actually. All three of whom are two way players. You might be wondering, well, gosh, that sounds like a lot of two way players. Well, that is true for the Rogers Pirates. They've got less than than 40 kids on this roster and as you look at them on the field, they're in their black jerseys with purple accents tonight, man, it looks like maybe just a hair more than 30.

It is a pretty small operation for them this year. For the East Valley Knights, like we said, coming into this game they just pick up their first win of the year last week. They are 1 and 5 and 1 and 2 in the Greater Spokane League. Here's the starting lineup. On offense, here's their line.

Tyler Grant, Miguel Rodriguez, Logan's attack, Eddie Array and Alonzo Vargas. Tight end, Titan Rather tailback is Titan Nesbitt. He is their first of three running backs who will take the carries. They like him a lot. He's pretty explosive at fullback.

And Dylan Gamble and they like to get him involved. One slot receiver, Hunter Green. And on the outside it's the guys it's been all year for them. Jesse Stevens and Owen Spenlove and the quarterback, Diesel Wilkinson. He is a star being looked at by a bunch of different Pac 12 schools.

I know that Washington State likes him as a receiver. He's been also offered by Idaho as a running back. On defense, here's their D tackles, Logan's attack and Miguel Rodriguez. Rest of the line, Diesel Wilkinson, Titan Nesbitts. Owen Spanlove, their linebackers Dylan Gamble, Jake Gallagher in Logan Isle Air Free safety Hunter Green and then their quarterbacks Taryn Fields and Jesse Stevens.

So again, those are the starting lineups for tonight's game between the East Valley Knights and the Rogers Pirates. These are two teams who have both only won one game apiece this year, so someone's going to pick up win number two. But these are two teams that are trying to build programs and really start their season. Let down the stretch on Caiman upswing, We'll see who can do it at 4 o'. Clock.

3 FM. I'm Greg Talbot, he's Dehante, Hayes and Deontay. We have been talking for the last half hour going through keys to the game, going through guys that we both like on both teams. Since we have seen these Valley and Rodgers before, I want to hear your predictions tonight. You know more about these teams than anyone else at the moment.

Go ahead and tell us what you think we're going to see tonight. What kind of game is this going to be before we talk about a winner? Honestly, I think Diesel's going to go out there and have himself a game. It's not really hard to be able to tell who their key guy is and who they're going to want to make plays out there for them. And that's Diesel because he does it every single game.

He's going to need the ball in his hands and he's going to have to go out there and lead the team to a victory. No matter what goes on, whether the defense is helping them or not, he's going to have to lead them, keep his head up, keep the other players around him set up and just go out there and put some points against this Rodgers team who gives up 40 points a game. This is really going to be a game where it's decided by which quarterback plays better and when which defensive line does it cave, right? That's exactly what it's going to be like. It's going to be a battle between defensive lines and a battle between the quarterbacks.

Whoever quarterbacks can lead them past the struggling defensive lines or the good defensive lines then they'll be able to win. In terms of what you think this game is going to end up looking like. If I were a betting man I think I would bid on East Valley, but I don't actually know by how much. Yeah, the spread is going to be very interesting because it all depends on how it is from the beginning of the start. If East Valley comes out slow and sluggish and it's going to be a long day for them and it's going to be a very close and tight knit game.

However, if they come out aggressive how they should and they allow Diesel to get going really early, then this can be a blowout type of game. It potentially could. Then again, these teams have only won a game apiece this year. So I think there's a chance that we see a tight game. The last game you and I did on the radio together was here at Union Stadium.

It was a game we thought might be a blowout. We thought Lewis and Clark would take care of Cheney. Lewis and Clark hold on to win, but they shouldn't have. Lewis and Clark. Cheney blew that game against them.

So we see it in the GSL all the time. Outside of those massive four teams and their games against each other, you don't always know who's going to win these smaller games. Yeah, you never know. It's always going to come down to the wire. It's very interesting that those are the games that we've been doing this this year to where they're always so close or an upset or it's a very close game to where you don't know really who's going to win of it to the last couple of seconds.

And that's what we've been seeing and those are great games and that's what we, that's what us and the fans want to see. Yeah, we've had some good games on the radio this year and I think we have another one coming up in just a few minutes. Again, it is Rogers in East Valley as we stand aside for the national anthem and take our last break on the pregame show on the Arby's GSL Game of the Week today on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. Greg Talbot to hunt the Hayes with you to call this afternoon action between the Rogers Pirates and the East Valley Knights. Both teams one win this year. This is the four o' clock game coming up at seven. That's Lewis and Clark and Mead. So a great night of football out here in Mead out to kick this one away for the Rogers Pirates.

Number 85, Alex Peabody. He's one of the better kickers in the two way region of the gsl. And only one deep man back to receive for East Valley. And it's only back at the 10 yard line. It is their quarterback Diesel Wilkinson.

So you said at the pregame show to haunted this guy honestly does it all. Yeah, Diesel is going to be their man. He's going to be the person that they always want to have the ball in his hands. He's great at making plays, he runs hard, he's aggressive. Overall it's going to take four to five guys to bring him down every single time so of course he needs to go ahead and handle this opening kickoff.

So Peabody right footed kicker puts his right hand in the air, he's going to kick this one right to left across your radio dial you can hear the drums of the Rodgers marching band getting ready to kick this game off. The ball is in the air. It's an end over end kick down to the 10 yard line. Here comes Wilkinson who'll run it up the right hash. He's at the 20, the 25 cuts back left past the 30, spun down to the 34 on the right hash mark.

So a pretty short field and that's where the East Valley Knights are going to take over. Deontay. You saw them once already this year and they took on West Valley. What'd you think of their offense? I thought they have a really open playbook.

And also Diesel. This is something that I mentioned in the last game that I watched of him. He said don't sleep on my on my arm. People always say he's inaccurate and he's more of a running quarterback. However he showed in The East Valley vs West Valley game that he could throw accurate passes and he threw some really nice deep bombs down the field in that game and they're going to rely on him to throw.

Here they come, ball starts on the 34 yard line. They're going left to right. Wilkerson at quarterback, he's Got five wide receivers. Here comes the low snap. He's going to run to the 40 yard line.

45, 50 tries to get down the sideline. Pushed out of bounds by the cornerback around the Rogers 45 yard line. A big Damon Orthodontics. First down on the first play from scrimmage on the draw. Yeah, and that just shows what that they're respecting that he could pass as well.

Now they come out, they spread him out and he just runs a designated quarterback keeper straight down the middle. And it was just shown there was no one spying on him. And that's something that they're going to have to. Roger's gonna have to spy on him. All right, Wilkerson's got three receivers to his right, two to his left.

East Valley in a white uniforms and green helmets. He drops back, takes a big deep drop pocket, collapses. He rolls to the sideline, looks downfield, throws into double coverage. He's got a couple men down there. Ball is in the air and it's knocked down incomplete.

Good late coverage by Kobe Vogel, a two way player for them. Who got there. Pass was intended for about three guys in the neighborhood, none of whom could get it. Yeah, it was a really good, really good defense there from Roger. That's what they need to do is just when Diesel is running around in the pocket or running around the backfield like that, you have to go ahead and plaster wide receivers because he's going to launch one and he's really hard to take down for sacks.

Do you like them going that deep into coverage on the second play of the game? I think it shows that they're going to be coming out here and taking shots. They're going to take chances and they trust them. I like what they're doing right now. East Valley showing their how versatile they are with their plays.

All right, second down and 10 for East Valley. Opening drive of the game. No score. They've got it on the Rodgers 45 yard line. Here comes the highest nap the Wilkerson.

He's going to be a draw play again. This time Rogers was ready for it. A couple yards behind the line of scrimmage. He's taken down by a couple of guys for Rogers. First one who got there was Andrew Willett.

Rogers is doing a great job of containing the run right now. I mean they allowed that big run in the beginning to affect them. However they're answering right now. It's third down and long to go. This is great right now from Rogers.

How you want to go ahead and win a game. Set A tone they'll give him forward progress on that and say he was taken down two yards behind the line of scrimmage. So third down and 12 for East Valley here on their opening series of the game. Two receivers split to the right with one to the left and Stevens at tight end. Here comes the snap and it's a high one to Wilkerson.

He drops back, throws deep into coverage. That ball is ripped down and intercepted by Orlando Moore down at the 20 yard line. First drive of the game for East Valley and It's a pick. No. 1 Rodgers is known for giving up 40 points a game that come out make a huge stop on their opening drive.

That's exactly what they needed. And now their offense has a chance to go down there and make put some points on the board. This is a huge drive. I'm not even sure that they got that much pressure on Wilkerson. I just think he didn't know where to throw it.

He saw one on one and took the shot. Yeah, he wanted just to allow his wide receiver to make a play. However, there was no one near it. It was just a defensive player. All right.

So out come the Rogers Pirates for their first drive of the game. The pass was intercepted at their own 16. So they're on the 16 on the far right side of the field. They're driving right to left today across your radio dial. And a wide open set for Deon Kinsey to six foot junior quarterback.

He's one of the better young ones in the gsl. Here comes a snap at the letters. He's going to take off and run. It's a draw play for them to pass the 30, the 35, the 40 down the sideline. Pushed out of bounds around their own 45 yard line.

A huge gain of about 30 yards on their first play from scrimmage. That's a big Damon Orthodontics first down. Is it me or is this Rogers team looking completely different than what the stats show on paper? Yeah, this is a team that has some talent. They've just not been able to put together most games this year.

They're looking stellar right now. I mean they're running great defensive plays that come on offense. First play of the game. Run the exact play that East Valley runs and but picks up a lot more. This is a huge start for Rogers.

You know what's interesting about Deon Kinsey, the six foot junior right handed quarterback. He didn't play quarterback until high school and that's what's, that's what makes him so special. I bet she was probably someone who handled the bar more often. Like a wide receiver. Looks great with the ball in his hands.

Two receivers split each way and he's going to run again. This time West Valley is ready for it. Gets back to the line of scrimmage between the tackles. Taken down for no game. Number seven, Deon Kinsley.

You know what's funny is we've only seen them run two plays on offense. They were both draw runs to Kinsey, but he's actually got a heck of an arm. The funny thing is, as we talked to their coaching staff this week to hunt it, he said his arm is strong. Sometimes it's too strong and he's sailing it now and then. Yeah.

You know when you're a young quarterback and you're still learning your arm strength and you know you can air it out like that, sometimes you lead your receivers a little more. Just to show I still got that. Four receivers split out with Griffey in the backfield. Here comes a play. Action pass, throws far side.

That ball is off the hands of his receiver on the play. Owen Moore, they'll say was a backward pass. He fell on it though, but it was back around what, the three 35 yard line. So that'll be a huge loss. Yeah, it's a bit interesting there.

I didn't, I didn't think that it was a backwards pass. However, if the refs called it a backwards pass and that's where they get the ball, that's a huge loss for them when they were doing a good job on this drive. Interesting to see Orlando Moore, who just made that great interception on defense, get the pass. He's not a guy they usually incorporate too much in the passing game. He's not.

But I know they're going to go ahead and try and utilize some other receivers in order to get the game going and allow this East Valley defense to really open up. They want to see what they can do on defense. Third down and 20 to go back at their own 33 yard line after the loss. Here comes the snap. Kinsey deep drop back, he steps up, pocket collapses and he's gonna run.

He's gonna take it to at the 30 yard line, 35 to 40, goes the far side of the field, up to midfield, push out of bounds at the 55 or six yards short. This will still be fourth down and this is probably punching territory and out comes their unit. Yes, it's a great choice to go ahead and punt here. I mean, he went and picked up a lot of yards almost Got back to the first down yardage if he was just a few yards more. However, you don't want to give East Valley opportunity to score.

They have really good weapons and it's just something that you just don't want to do too early on in this game. So Aiden Kane back to kick for Rogers and Owen spent love. The one of the biggest guys on the roster and one of the biggest skill players in the GSL is back to receive for West Valley. He's 6 foot 3, 190 pounds and he's a kick returner and a running back. The Hunter, he's back in the 20.

Yeah, he's actually really really good with the ball in his hands and I'm excited to see what he does right here on this, on this kick, Kane puts the ball in the air. It's a bouncing kick down to the 20. Rodgers will be able to field it and they knock it down at the 19. Okay so we've seen both teams one drive. The only time they were able to put it downfield either way was was a big quarterback draw to Hanse.

Is that what they've just got to do until they get going? You know they're gonna have to switch up the plays here and there. A little misdirection, some options just go back to their original plays that that are going to confuse the defenses. Both defenses are playing good. We knew it was going to be a defensive battle and it's going to be a quarterbacks battle.

However, we haven't seen the game progress far enough to know if the quarterback is going to be able to take control of it. Exactly nine minutes to go in the first quarter. Still no score between East Valley and Rodgers. Both teams just punted on their first drive. Here comes a handoff for East Valley.

It's Titan Nesbitt. He gets up to the 17 yard line. Short gain on the play and took it off. Tackle Titan Nesbit is going to be a huge key to this game. In order for them to be able to win this game, everyone's going to key on Diesel Wilkinson the entire game.

So allowing them to think or not really know who's going to get the ball on each drive is what's going to help them. Hunter Stevens and Jesse Green, the outside receivers. Instead it's a handoff once again to Nesbitt. He takes it right along the outside. Got to at the 22 or 23 yard line.

He'll still be a little short but I admire them opening it up. Actually no, that was play action. Wilkerson kept it himself. It'll still be 31 and maybe third and two. That play goal there is really good because it allowed it confused the defense allowed Wilkinson to pick up a lot of yards on that and get near the first down.

He just lost few yards because he was running back. However that's a good play call there. Well you know what's funny about looking at this East Valley offense is Wilkerson, his physical body, he looks like a running back. He doesn't actually look like a quarterback. Yeah, I believe he was not a quarterback last year he was a running back and then they moved him to quarterback because they want him to take direct snaps, fakes a handoff, throws over the left side.

That is a complete pass to the sliding Jesse Stevens. What a catch at the 32 yard line. That'll move the chains. Good pass, good catch. And that brings me back to what he says.

He says don't sleep on his accuracy, don't sleep on his passing ability. Love to see them opening up the playbook. That's their first complete pass of the the game as a team after the INT on their opening drive. You can hear the cheerleaders here on the far side of the field. Those are the East Valley nights cheerleaders.

So a new 1st and 10 here for East Valley. They'll run the option to the right side and in fact Wilkerson just going to keep it himself. And he turns up field 40, 45, 50, 45, 40 down the other side. Taken down to the last seconds by one of the quarterbacks for Rodgers. Ronald Warrick got him by the ankles down at the Rodgers 20 yard line.

So again to haunt a just QB's running the ball. That's what's working so far. And you know we talked about the key for East Valley was going to be to get the ball. When you run the ball to the outside, make sure you don't run it up the gap, run into the outside. And that was huge for them.

I mean they're running it to the outside. Wilkinson's picking up a lot of yards and they're not able to stop him right now. They cannot control him. He's going to take over this game. All right.

For the first time today East Valley has it in Rogers territory. Seven minutes and ten seconds left to go in the first quarter. Still no score. Five down, defensive lineman for Rogers. They go up the middle.

Titan Nesbitt taken down at the line, maybe a gain of two and they continue to pound away at this Rodgers offensive line. The youth that this Rogers Team has on it, no question about it. So East Valley, their offense is starting to click here a little bit. They started the season oh and five, but then big bounce back win against North Central last week. And not just that, the Haunted.

They've eaten North Central by 20. Yeah, and you see what they're doing right now too on East Valley. They're opening up their playbook. They're running QB drives, they're handing off to the running backs, they're passing it, they're taking shots downfield. It shows that they're really a complete team and they're ready to just take shots.

Second down and eight. Here comes the snap. It's the same throw down to the left side and that ball looks like it was potentially intercepted. Noah just skipped it on the incomplete pass. That was very nearly the second pick of the game for Orlando Moore.

That was just a botched play action throw by Wilkerson. Yeah, it seemed like Owen Spenlove and Wilkinson weren't on the same page there. He thought he was going to run a slant and threw a slant route. However, Owen was still running straight as if he was was running a fade route there. So spent love spit split up to the far left side of the field.

Jesse Stevens to the near side on third down and seven. Here comes the snap up the middle to Wilk the Nesbitt and boy he's tackled right away. A couple of those Rogers linebackers blitz through the holes and stop them short. Maybe no gain on the play. Yep, no gain.

Fourth down and seven here. Balls at the 20. Looks like East Valley does not have a good enough kicker so they'll go for it here on 4th and 7 from the Rodgers 20. Rogers has been doing a good job on these last two drives and when they get hit on big chunk plays, they're able to stop this East Valley offense and that's huge for them. They could continue to do that.

They're going to come away and give their office another chance. East Valley going forward on fourth and seven. Here it comes. Drop back. This is a screenplay rolling out left as Wilkerson looking to throw downfield.

He's got a man. It's caught by Hunter green at the 15 dives inside the 10. He's got the first down as he's taken down to the nine, but we have flags everywhere. That has got to be holding. Wilkinson is just so, so versatile and able to run out of the pocket and extend plays that it's just making it really hard for this Rogers defense to be able to plaster the Flags may hurt him here, however, that's a threat.

That's going to be a problem throughout the duration of this game. That roll out to the left should not have gone along as long as it did. That must be holding. Yeah, it couldn't have gone that long at all. Sure is.

And they'll move it back. So what was a fourth down conversion is gonna be a lot harder this time around. It definitely puts them in a position to make them kind of want to rethink whether they're gonna go for it here or whether they're gonna try and take a deep field goal. It'll be an even deeper field goal. They didn't seem confident taking it from the 20.

What would have been a 36 yard kick. See it from the referees here. Looks like their microphones are not working. That is all right. They'll march it back either way again.

5. There we go. Okay, so ineligible receiver. That makes sense. The play broke down.

One of the offensive lineman must have just cut up field. Yeah, that's always something that's hard. They try to run a designated. They just had a guy who leaked out a little too much one yard downfield. Automatically an ineligible player downfield, you lose.

Five. All right. So out comes East Valley to try to attempt what looks like a really long field goal. This would be Alonzo Vargas and he is huge. He looks.

He is on offensive and defensive lineman. Here comes a snap. This is going to be a long kick. Puts it up with the right foot and it's good. That was a 45 yard kick.

Yeah, I was confident in his kicking ability. That's why I knew instantly when they took that five yard penalty, it kind of changed things for them because they know that their offense is more capable of getting a fourth down and seven instead of a fourth down and 12. All right. 5:43 to go in the first quarter. Three nothing.

Three nothing. So here come the Pirates for their second drive of the game. Dehance so that this is good to know. East Valley of Vargas. He's got a leg on him.

Yeah, he does have a leg and he showed it right there. He came out, made a big time play, turned a penalty into three points and that's what you need. So let's see these Rogers Pirates. So they just kicked the ball out of bounds and illegal procedure on East Valley. So they'll march this up.

They got the ball originally the 20. They should take it. Yep, they'll put the ball down to the 35 yard line. So pretty good field position for Rogers who necessarily didn't do anything to earn it. Would you like on that first drive out of them, Dante?

I liked how confident they were. They ran a really good designated QB keeper. He picked up a good amount of yards and they just came back to it a couple of times. It shows that he's going to be a force on the on the ground. However, he really is a force to the air to all right.

Rogers takes it first and 10 at their own 35 yard line. They run a sweep. It's around the corner to Ronald Warwick. He cuts up field past the 40 to the 45 yard line. Gain of 11.

Demon Orthodontics first down. It's a really good way of picking up some extra yards there. After contact he was definitely contacted in the backfield. He was able to break a couple tackles and pick up a great game. That's what they need.

In case you're wondering what that fire engine is that is not outside your window in your car that is here at the stadium in Mead. The Mead fire station is right over the far side of the field. Bleacher So I promise that's not your car, that is your radio. 5:18 to go. The clock ticket here in the first quarter.

3 Nothing East Valley but Rogers rolling on offense now to their own 46 yard line. Here comes the highest nap. The McKenzie he turns and hands off. It's Gavin Bodman. Rather.

No, it's Eric Griffey. He's past the 50, down to the 45 and a gain of nine yards. Rogers is putting together a pretty nice drive here. Two big games on two plays so far for them. They might come away and put some points on the board here which will allow them to take away the lead.

They've been pretty open and honest about the fact that they prefer to be a running team. They do run a spread, but they run the vast majority of the time. Running is seems to be what they need to be doing right now. They're able to run through the gaps and pick up good games. And I mean if it's not broke, don't fix it.

New running back into the backfield now for the Pirates to be taken Handoffs. That's Isaiah Thompson turns in play action. Kinsey's gonna keep it himself on the QB draw. 40 yard line down to the 35. Run out of bounds around the 30.

Another David Orthodontics first down on the QB keeper. I must say he looks really good with the ball in his hands. I can see why they stay true to the run game. Shifty, smooth, able to slide and slip through tackles and get out of bounds to where he doesn't take any unnecessary contact. It's really smart and poised by him.

Rogers already implementing a couple of guys tonight who have not gotten a whole lot of playing time this year. Even at running back, Thompson has not been always the number one guy. But here it comes out for his second straight drive. Flanking Kinsey. Allowing yourself to have multiple running backs to cycle through makes it so where this East Valley team has to stay true and not really know who's going to get the ball.

And here comes the hand up to Thompson. He's got a lot of room. Middle past the 25, down to the 20. Spins off a man down to the 15. Another Daymond Orthodontics first down at a gain of 18 yards.

It's a pretty big drive here. They're doing a great job, really good play calling here. They're opening up the playbook with runs instead of just being direct run in passes knowing that they might not be able to complete them. Keeping the clock rolling and doing a good job of trying to put some points here. You seeing any adjustments they made since drive one?

Not seeing any adjustments, but I'm seeing that they're spreading it out a little bit more. They're not just allowing the ball just to be a QB keeper every single time. They're allowing different receivers, different receivers and running backs to get the ball. That's like they did on that sweep earlier. Rogers down to the East Valley 15 yard line.

Clock ticks exactly four minutes to go in the first quarter, East Valley of three. But Rodgers is down at East Valley's 15 yard line. Here comes the snap. Kinsey rolls along the outside, goes to the right and a really terrific last minute tackle by Hunter Green. He was the only man between Kinsey and the end zone and he made the tackle and kept it to a gain of what, maybe two yards.

That was a huge one on one tackle there because if he misses that one, I mean there's nothing but the end zone behind him. Yeah, so that was a huge tackle with Kinsey was able to see that if he would have just cut inside, he would have made a. He would have been able to pick up more yards. However, he cuts to the outside where his blocker was already there and then he ended up getting tackled there. You know what, it's even more impressive Hunter Green made that tackle.

He's a sophomore. Guys making plays when they need it and that's huge. That's what's going to make either team win when they have smaller guys go come out there and make big plays. Referees did not give them a generous spot. Second down and 11.

They actually called it a loss. One. Here comes the pitch along the outside. That is Moore down inside the 15, down to the 10, down to the five, pushing forward. Down to the three, the two, the one.

Touchdown. What an impressive run there. He carrying three, four, five different guys and in the end zone with him cutting back, making plays, making guys miss. Huge touchdown to pick up to go ahead and give them the lead. That was Ronald Warwick who took it in.

Just amazing. He should have been taken down a couple of times. And the fact they let him stay on his feet. The hunt a just crazy. So 254 to go in the first quarter.

Rogers up now six to three and about to send out a kick. That was a perfect way to end a drive the way they did. They came out, they started out very aggressive. Huge games on multiple plays and we're able to put points on the board. That's exactly what Rogers needed to do.

And they're come out here looking like a completely different team. No kidding. Okay, so we have Rogers kicking unit out there. We just got a flag before anyone did anything and that wasn't a play clock violations. We're waiting to see what the referees have to say.

Apparently there is no penalty and we just stopped it for no reason. Okay, so Alex Peabody with the right foot to kick it away and try to make it 7 to 3. Rogers with 254 to go in the first quarter. Here comes the kick. Line breaks down, it's a line drive.

Two minutes and 55 seconds to go in the first quarter here on the RV's GSL game of the week.

Rogers 7 East Valley 3. Both teams did not score on their first drive to Hanse. In fact we saw a not particularly good looking three and out and then we saw an interception on these teams first drives but man, really pretty phenomenal. Second one. Here comes the kick and running it back is Owen Spenlov for East Valley.

This ball's on the ground. Roger says they have it. They do not. East Valley's got the ball on their own 43 yard line after a near fumble on the kick by Owen Spenlove. But truly the hunted these teams.

The second drive, they look like different teams. It just seemed like the first drive they just had to shake the nerves out, get the nerves out Go out there and get the little beginning of the game contact in. And once you do that now you can get the wheel spinning and you can get rolling the way you want to. Right now East Valley is in a great field position to go ahead and go down the field and put some points on the board. Especially that come out the way they did last last series.

East Valley starts the drive on their own 44 yard line. Here comes Wilkerson, he'll roll out and keep the the ball himself. Now rolls back to the right after shaking off a tackle, is back to the 40, gets back to the 45. That's the line of scrimmage. Falls forward to the 46 yard line.

So ultimately all of that for a gain of two. Yeah, Diesel ran about 15 yards there, picked up two yards, but he slipped out of multiple tackles and he's just showing his shiftiness and what he is as a runner with the ball in his hands. And I think that it's gonna, it's gonna really wear on this Rogers defense if they can't start to contain him because he's still running around all over the place. No question about it. So here comes east valley, their own 46 yard line down 7 to 3 to Rogers.

With the time in the first quarter winding down. Here comes Wickelson, he'll roll out and keep it himself. To the right past the 50, down to the Rogers 47. But we've got a flag down that'll probably be on the East Valley offense. Yeah, another hole there.

Seems to just hurt this East Valley offense. I can't get nothing going with the penalties that are just drawing them backwards. They have to get it under control. Control and allow the mental mistakes to flush out which normally happens throughout the game. Starts to go.

Hard not to appreciate the fact they're committed to starting with a run here despite the fact they've got some good receivers on the side like Owen Spenlove. They do have good receivers. However they use, they utilize Diesel, not to be known as a throwing quarterback because it makes it to where they start to think they're going to run it, run it, run it. Then they're going to have take a shot downfield and Rogers is not going to expect it. They're going to lull the defense to sleep, take a shot and it's going to open up a touchdown downfield.

That's what they built this offense to do. They run heavy sets, big boy football and on defense they run five front East Valley like size, man. That's what they're Good at. You can definitely see that by the way they're towering over this Rogers defense right now. After the loss of five after the penalty, it's now second down and 15 for East Valley.

They're now back after the penalty on their own 39 yard line. Referees have stopped this ball for some reason and now they started again. Clock runs now. We're down inside two minutes in the first quarter. Seven to three.

Rogers. East Valley driving for their third drive of the game at second and 15. They said Nesbitt in motion. Wilkerson drops back. He looks.

He's gonna step up and run past the 40. The 45 to 50 cuts to the far side. 45, 40. One more band to meet. To the 35 to the 30.

Thrown out of bounds late. One man between him and the end zone. A great late tackle by Kinsey. I would think that would be a penalty on Rodgers actually. So they're deep into Rogers territory down near their 25 and this might move even closer.

I would think this would be a penalty on the Pirates. We're seeing a little bit of quarterback on quarterback action there, huh? As Kizzy comes over there and makes that big tackle to stop the touchdown. It appears Wilkinson had ran out though he was limping a little bit. So hopefully that's nothing that progresses throughout the game as he's on the sideline trying to walk it off right now.

Trying to see what he's able to do here. We might have a second quarterback in for just a player to temporarily. We had a chop block and a face mask on the offense is what the referee is signaling. I wasn't sure about that. It appeared it was a horse collar on the tackle should have been the more accurate call there.

However, seems like it was on the offense and they're going back instead of allowing that big run to be beneficial for them. So they got that ball all the way down to the 25 from the other side of midfield instead. This is. This is marching all the way back. All right, so they'll give him the first down on the play, but they, they're not going to let him get all the way down to the 20.

They're going to mark this ball at the Rogers 45. So they are now into Rogers territory at the 45. 45 yards to go with 130 to go in the first quarter. Turns and hands off the Titan. Nesbitt still on his feet.

Got to the 40, gain of 5 despite the. Despite the penalty on that last play. That's a big drive and it's odd. And it's a nice first down. Then they come out and pick up another five yards.

I'm not gonna lie, this East Valley offense seems to be rolling and clicking. They're looking really good even with Diesel being out right now. Yeah. So let's get a look at who that is in at quarterback for them. Here comes the high snap.

The handoff of the middle. It's back to Nesbitt. Loss on the play. In at QB for them at the moment is Aiden Swanson. He's a sophomore quarterback.

So that's his backup. Yeah, his backup is going to not be as big of a threat in the run game as before. That's what made Rogers be able to come through. They know they're able to key in on the running back because they're not going to run as many QB keepers or. And he's not going to be able to get away the way Diesel can.

Looking across the binoculars here at the far side of the field, they've got Wilkerson spread out on the training table. They're taking a look at his leg here. Comes on third down and seven. Back to the action. Throws to the far side.

Pass out of bounds, but a flag down as he rolled. That'll probably be a hold again, but I guess we'll see. This East Valley team tends to look a little bit different up front when Diesel's in and when he's not. And Rogers is definitely taking advantage of that face mask on the play. Way up.

Holding number 61 in the offense. That penalty is declined. It's fourth down, so that'll force fourth down and what looks like about fourth down and seven here. East Valley will send their kicking unit out because without Diesel they're not going to go forward on 4th and long. So they'll kick it from the Rogers 43 yard line.

So unfortunate turnout here. They really needed to get some points on the board here to go ahead and try and take advantage of this lead that Rodgers has early on. However, they're going to hopefully get a good punt here and they can come out on defense, get a stop. 34 seconds to go in the first quarter. Rogers seven, East Valley three.

And East Valley will punt it away. Two deep men back to receiver Rodgers around their 10. We'll see how the punt is. It's a high spiraling kick down to the 10. Moore calls a fair catch.

It's off his hand. It looks like East Valley fell on it at the Rodgers 10. And they did. Oh, no. Okay, so 26 seconds to go in the first quarter, after the botched flag on the play returned by Moore, it should be first and goal from the 10 for East Valley.

But we'll see what the referees have to say because there's a flag back at around the 30. It just seemed like he just went for a really late fair catch there. When he did that, it made him take his eyes off the ball. When the ball came down, his elbows were spread and the ball just slipped through. Good pick up by East Valley.

Now they have another opportunity to extend this drive. Waiting for the referees. The chains are moving back. That would indicate that it's going to be East Valley ball the first down, which will be huge for East Valley here because their drive was over and they were putting their foot on it. However, if Rodgers gives it back to them, they could be in danger here.

Still waiting to hear from the referees. Nice to hear the cheerleaders back after all these months away too. It is the cheerleaders that play a huge role in the game. And that's just what makes the fans want to come out on the defense. That penalty is declined.

First down, East Valley. Okay, so that is a penalty on Rogers, believe it or not. So East Valley. No, let's see what the referees have. We're still waiting to see exactly what the referees are marking this off as.

This is East Valley ball. So East Valley gets to keep. They declined the penalty and they'll place it down on the 11. So this is what we thought. Yeah.

So East Valley ball on the Rodgers 10 yard line. First down and goal with 26 seconds to go and what has been a long first quarter. So here comes Wilkerson out of the deep shotgun. Two receivers split to the left, one to the right. Nesbitt is the running back and it's a high snap off the hand of Wilkerson and he falls on it back at the 18 yard line.

That was dangerous. Loss of 8. It'll still be gold to go on second from the 18. It seems like the only time East Valley is necessarily stopping their drives is mental mistakes. It just seems to be those little things, penalties and drop snaps.

And that wasn't a bad snap that could have been caught. And it just seems like Wilkinson just may be in his head a little bit with the limp he has. And that is the end of the first quarter. It's brought to you tonight by any Caibew. At the end of one, it is Rogers seven, East Valley three.

But East Valley here with the ball second and goal back on the Rodgers 18 yard line. So 18 yards before East Valley could potentially take the lead again.

Here comes a little snap. The Diesel Wilkerson, he's on his feet inside the 20, down toward the 15 yard line. Gain of what, three or four on the play? Not enough. It's going to be third down and goal from about the 15.

This you got to think this is two down territory to Hansen. We know they have a kicker but also they prefer a touchdown here. Yeah, you got to get some points on the board and it doesn't need to be three, it needs be to be seven. That's what's going to change the game and show that they could put points on the board. But East Valley has shown that they're not really good when they get into positions whether this deep in away from the from the goal or from the first down.

Third and goal from the 15. They send Stevens in a wide motion, hand up a little to Nesbitt. He gets to the 15. That die play went for one yard. It's going to be fourth down and goal from the 14.

But between the hashes we know They've got a good kicker. They do have a good kicker. They seem to be staying true to Diesel right now, even though he did just come back in off an injury. I would like to see them get the ball into someone else's hands just because I was working so well when they were doing that. And then coming back to Diesel after.

I do not see their kicker coming onto the field. In fact, their offense is just going to stay out there. They're going to go for it. On fourth and goal from the 14 yard line, two receivers split to the left, one to the right. Now they send Nesbitt in motion.

It's a wide open look. They dump it off to Nesbitt. He beats a man down inside the 10. Tackled at the five and that's a turnover. Why not kick that ball?

We know, we know that Vargas has a leg. Well, we go into, we get into a spot where we're, we're thinking why not kick it? And then we also think, should they go for it? And I feel like they're going for it. There wasn't a bad choice.

I think that was just a bad play call there. Running a screen in the backfield when you need to pick up 12 yards for a touchdown, for the first down, for whatever, just to be able to keep the drive alive is gonna be hard to do that whenever. It's always a one. There was a one on one tackle there. He had to make a guy miss and there's the rest of the team swarming towards his way.

10 minutes and 40 seconds to go in the second quarter. Rogers 7, East Valley 3. Now Rogers takes over after the turnover at their own what, seven yard line on the left side of the field. Pirates and black jerseys, purple helmets. They're driving left to right from their own seven.

Kinsey takes a snap deep near the goal line, is in a deep shotgun. He turns and gives off to Thompson. He gets to around the 10 for a gain of two or three ball carry. A pretty good pursuit there by the East Valley defense. This going to the defense is going to play a huge role in this game.

Their offense is struggling to put points on the board. However, they continue to to stop this Rogers offense and they're still allowing their team to have a chance here. All right. Rather we are just being told now by the public address system here at Union Stadium in me that they have some jersey mix ups for tonight instead. That's a reek Griffey.

Ari Griffey is wearing number 27, not Isaiah Thompson. But that's what you get when they don't update their own rosters. And Kimzi's gonna keep it himself. Past the 15 dives, up past the 20 to the 24 yard line. That's an amen.

Orthodontics. First down. That was a pretty good run. And he's even crafty enough to utilize the ref that was stating in the middle of the field as a moving screen, which allowed him to pick up even more yards there. Pretty smart, savvy play there.

And all of a sudden now Rogers going up tempo for the first time tonight. They're back to the line quick and East Valley jumps across the line of scrimmage. The hard count made everyone on that defensive front jump right there. Sold it pretty well. Yep, he sold it for sure.

To Hunt, this Rogers offense seems to continue to look really good. I mean, they're a lot. They were just at their 7. They're driving all the way down the field. They're at their own 29 now.

It has only been a few short plays. Ten minutes to go until halftime. Seven to three, Rogers. Pirates driving. They're on their own 28.

Here comes a slow snap. Kinsey fakes handoff, keeps it himself, tries to roll to the left. And he's gobbled up by a bunch of East Valley players. Oh, man, they were ready for that one, huh? They knew exactly where you wanted to go with that ball.

He tried to shake inside, he tried to shake outside, inside, outside. They were patient and able to make a good play in the backfield for a loss. That was their kicker. Slash defensive lineman Vargas in for the tackle for loss. It'll be second down and 11.

It's putting points on the board with his foot and make it tackles in the backfield. What can you ask for? Maybe he'll be the MVP to the game today. Who knows? Put some more.

Put some more points on the board. He might be. Rogers seems to be calling for a timeout from the near side of the field for no good reason. They are. We'll see if the referees will grant it to him.

Coach is pulling them off to the side of the field and the referees will grant them that timeout. 922 to go here in the second quarter. Rogers 7, East Valley 3. And Rogers is driving left to right. We'll come back after the break.

It looks like they might have had a sub out the quarterback for a different quarterback and it just appeared that they just took the time out just to be able to make that substitution happen. They did indeed. Okay, that's Kobe Bogle, who's a tight end in at quarterback.

Something must happen to Kinsey. He takes the snap and runs off to the right, tried to go off tackle, got back to the line of scrimmage plus one yard. That'll be third down and nine. Third down and ten. And you have to wonder what happened to Kinsey.

Yeah, it appeared they just made him come out for about a player. So because he's running back in now, could have been a uniform, something with his uniform, something that the rest made him go out. But I mean he's back in there now and hopefully he's able to help them out of this third down slump. All right, so third down and nine, Kinsey's back on the field genuinely a positive leader. So you can just see how, how much the team enjoys having him on the field.

He just brings the pep in the step, doesn't he? I wouldn't, I wouldn't Have a problem with having someone like him on my team either. When he's running hard, he's able to utilize players and he has a high IQ for a quarterback at his age. He runs off the left, picks up a gain of five yards. That'll bring up fourth down and four on the play and looks like they'll punt at least they should.

Yeah, he's doing his best. Just try to pick up some yards there. But him going out for that one plays definitely mess up the drive. Because it was second down and 10. It ends up being third down and 10.

You only have one play to even try and get the first down. Aiden Kane comes onto the field for Rogers. He will punt it away and spend love back to receive on the right side of the 50 for East Valley. Man, he's big. It is he.

He's 6 foot 3, 190 and he returns kicks. Huge returner for them. And he's also really good with the ball in his hands as we seen earlier. He was able to make some guys miss and pick up some extra yards. I'm excited to see him get one of these kicks in his game because he looks impressive when I watch him in the East Valley versus West Valley game.

Okay, Kinsey is into punt. He's not their normal punter so this might be a fake or he might actually kick it away. So Kinsey standing back on the 15, ready for the long snap to kick it away to Spendlove. Unless it's a fake. Here comes a low snap down to the knees.

He does punt and he's pretty good at punting. Spendlove's not going to be able to return. This one takes a good bounce. Rodgers will let it roll all the way down. East Valley knows they can't return it.

This ball is touched down at the East Valley 29 yard line. A good punt by the quarterback. Big time punt. And that just shows exactly what you were talking about earlier about him being a leader and his teammates like being around him. He can.

He's very versatile. He could play offense, he could play defense. He's even a punter. I mean he's walking now to go play safety or corner and this just shows he's a huge asset to their team. No question about it.

Clock stops at 7:45 to go in the second quarter. Rodgers 7, Eastern Valley 3. And the referees will mark this ball down. They say it was dead at the 29 yard line. So decent field position for East Valley.

Diesel Wilkerson is a monster. Idaho offered him as a halfback And Wazoo likes him as a receiver, but this time he's playing quarterback for his team. Throws deep along the left side. He's got Spenlove and it's off his hands. Spent love has to come down with that ball there.

That's a huge pass. He's open. He sheds the. He sheds the corner that was all over him. And he just has to make that catch.

You make that catch, you put seven on the board and now your team is. Is in the lead and feeling great. Defender in the play is number 12. That is just brutal. Moore, who already has an interception for Rogers on defense tonight, kind of fell over left Spendlove all alone and Spenlov just like went over the wrong shoulder and bobbled it.

Yeah, he lost control of the ball. He lost kind of where it was and that's made him bobble it. But hopefully they can get that one back here and not allow that play to affect his drive. Okay, so second down and ten after the drop pass by Spendlove for East Valley, two receivers split to the right, one to the left. Turns it hands off to Nesbitt and Rogers ready for him again.

Short gain of maybe two yards on the play. That'll bring up third and long as the clock ticks down. Inside 7:30. You see what east doll he's doing here though? They're taking the shot downfield, giving it to Nesbitt.

They're allowing this Rogers team not to really know what play they're gonna run. Then they're gonna come out with Diesel and he's going to go for a big game like he's been doing these last couple of drives. Isn't it a little bit obvious though that if you take a big shot on first down, you're going back to the ground to just get some yardage. So third isn't third and 10. It is very obvious, however, when your defense, if you know that you can.

That you can dominate a defense and it's going to continue to utilize that. Here comes the high snap to Wilkerson. He's got a man down. Three old throws, far side. It's intercepted by Kinsey.

The Rogers quarterback just picked off the East Valley quarterback. Kinsey continues to take control of this game. Game. And we said that the quarterbacks are going to be huge part of it, of whoever gets to win tonight. And he's playing outstanding today.

Exactly seven minutes on the clock and a big INT for Dion Kinsey, the Rogers quarterback. He caught it back at the 31 yard line. So in fact the 31 so 69 yards to go down the field. We haven't even seen him step off the field besides the time where he had to come off for one play. He's on the field the whole game.

He's doing everything he needs to do. I'm very impressed by this kid. I'm not gonna lie. I wish they would let him throw just a little bit. I'd love to see if he can throw, wouldn't you?

Yeah. That's the only thing we haven't been able to really see was his arm strength and accuracy. Kinsey's got one running back split each way. He turns and hands off. No, he runs a pitch, it's an option.

Comes near side to Ronald Warwick. He turns up field, got to the 35 yard line, gain of three. They did a lot of work for three yards on the option play. That was a pretty good option play there. However, the defense was kind of not.

They are kind of like bubbling, playing a drop defense against it. So it made it to where running and trying to pick up yards was kind of hard because everyone was just kind of containing him there. Beautiful evening up here at Union Stadium in Mead. Coming up at 7 o', clock. It's the other game of this doubleheader.

Lewis and Clark at me. That is a fun game between the Tigers and the Panthers. Lewis and Clark's got a shot in that one to hunt a. Yeah, they do. I'm excited to see what.

What numbers Jen Silburn puts up this weekend because he's always a. He's always a fun one to go ahead and watch. Second down and seven. They run the option work to the outside on the pitch. Past the 40, past the 42.

That's the first down. Got up to the 45. That's an amen. Orthodontics. First down for Ronald Work is a smaller back, but he's the one who's got the explosiveness for them.

Usually the smaller backs are. They're very quick and explosive with their. With their moves. They know exactly where they want to go and they're very shifty. And that's what he's doing right here.

There's catching those options and I don't stuff to pick up some extra yards. Rogers at their own 45 yard line. Clock hit six minutes to go until halftime. They lead East Valley 7 to 3. They're driving on their own 45.

It's gonna be a nice big crowd for the 7 o' clock game to Lewis and Clark Meadow. That's gonna be a fun one. Yeah. I want to be surprised if we see a lot of fans here tonight. It's going to be a big game to receiver.

Split each way for Kinsey. Takes a low snap at the knees. Caught it just in time past the line of scrimmage. He's going to keep it himself. Got to the 45 rather to the, sorry, the 49 yard line in a four.

I think it's very impressive how conditioned he is to be in the entire game thus far. I mean he hasn't gone out, he's running the ball a lot. He's playing multiple special teams and on defense as well and making big plays. He's a factor in this game and he's. You could tell he's.

He's ready for this game to go, take a win. He's a tall kid, six feet tall, he's skinny, but he's been on pretty much every play. Turns and hands off to Griffey and that one went absolutely nowhere. East Valley knows when it's coming. On second and long, they know they're going to run the ball.

He's now starting to check into what keys are good against. This gets his Rogers offense. They're starting to see what tendencies do they have on first down, second down, third down and you can see it here. I mean Rogers is picking up good plays here and there, but this East Valley team is staying true to their original defense. Big third down and eight here for Rogers from their own 47 yard line.

One very deep safety back. That's Spenlove, it looks like for East Valley back in the 30 yard line. Here they come on third down and eight. Kinsey looks like he's in a throw downfield, but the pocket collapses. He'll turn up field and run 45 to midfield at the 50, past the 45, down the 40, down to the east valley 35 yard line.

He ran for almost 20 yards at the Neiman Orthodontics. First down. East Valley has got to be mad that they let that drive keep going right there. It's very interesting because they came out in a contained type of defense. They had everyone back to make sure that they didn't pick up that big deep first down that they needed.

However, their defense ended up breaking through because of the routes that Rogers was running. They ran spread routes to take everyone out and they were able to pick up that nice first down. All right, so they got all the way down to the east valley 35 yard line to they keep their drive going. 4 minutes and 20 seconds to go until halftime. Rogers driving it leads 7 to 3.

Kinsey out of the shotgun, hasting and back of the 40 balls at the 35. Griffey with him in the backfield, turns and hands off to Griffey. No, it's play action instead. He'll keep 35 down to the 30, still on his feet. The 25 yard line.

Such a weird slide toward the sideline. I hope he's okay. I don't. Did it look like he meant to slide there? I don't think that was an intentional slide.

It seems like he may have tripped or stepped on the back of one of his wide receivers foot. NASA made him fall down, but he's got his hands on his hips. He's standing up by himself and walking back to his huddle, just taking his time. It was a gain of nine yards. It'll be second down and one at the East Valley 26.

It's very fortunate for Rogers to see that he got up and he's okay there. He plays too many key roles on this team in order for him to go out. So I'm not sure you like the look of this game for Rogers without him. Yeah, I wouldn't be. I wouldn't be okay if I was Rogers.

And he went out and Rogers taking a timeout just to make sure Kinsey's okay. And we will take the timeout with them. It is 3:37 to go until halftime. Rogers up seven to three. They're driving in East Valley territory.

They got to get down to the 25 on the right side of the field. Kinsey is big right foot forward, takes a snap and rolls out to the left. He turns up field 201510 big first down, but a flag back at the 25 yard line.

That'll be on the offense and that's another killer penalty there. That is going to hurt that this Rogers team, I mean they're doing a good job of moving the ball downfield. You have Kinsley is just running like crazy out there doing everything he possibly can and then the penalty is going to bring it back. Both teams with definitely unnecessary penalties on both third and fourth down today. Yeah, that's what's just what's been killing their drives all day today.

The self made penalties that are unnecessary in that kind of be avoided. And I know Kinsey wants that one back because that was a big time run and a big time pickup holding and all of a sudden what was going to be a huge first down turns into what, third, third down and 11, loss of 10. That one has to be killer. But I wouldn't be surprised if we get to see Kinsey's arm here because with how accurate that last pass was and how big the coach hyped him up, I'm ready to see it. Well, East Valley is definitely going to be expecting him to run here.

So this would be a Good time to pass if he has the confidence. It appears that East Valley comes out in the same defense that they were in earlier when Kinsey picked up that earlier. First down to receiver. Split his way for Kinsey. They're going to run the option pitch to Warwick.

He's past the 40 yard line up inside the 35 down to the 35 yard short. It'll be fourth down but. But that balls on the 30. That would be a 46 yard kick. I think this is still go for it territory.

Four down territory here. Warwick is doing a great job of picking up extra yards. I mean he was. Everyone was ready for him the minute he caught the pitch there. If they're able to utilize either worker Kinsey here and pick up this first down, that that could be huge for them.

Yep, they're going to keep the offense out there for fourth down in a short five for Aaron Kinsey and the Rogers Pirates clock ticking. 4, 245, 244, 243 to go in the first half. Rogers lead seven to three and they're going for it on fourth down and four. Here comes the snap. Kinsey has plenty of time.

Throws over the middle. Oh, he just threw it over the outstretched hand of a wide open Cody Bogle. Oh, that was ugly. He was wide open. That was a huge miss for him.

It seemed like he tried like to jump, hop and like jumping over the. Over the linebacker there, which there was no one there. He was wide open so ended up overthrowing him. And that's an unfortunate turnover on downs and now he's Valley has a chance to go ahead and take the lead here. Question.

Do you think he was just confused because there was no pressure, Everyone dropped back and there was no pocket. He must have thought he had to get rid of it. Yeah, he figured like he had to get the ball out of his hands quick when he had plenty of time. There was no one pressuring him. He could have just took his time and delivered a good pass or run or run which is been doing all day.

All right, so East Valley takes over after the turnover on downs from their own 30 yard line. First down and 10 hand off of the middle, Nez. But he's been great today. 35:40 End over end and a gain of 11 on the first down as he does the circus flip and moves the chains. I love that tackle there by Orlando Moore.

That's a big time tackle. One on one tackle in order to make that happen because he was. He looked like he was going home. Moore's been a big player. Made an interception, dropped an interception, I think had it.

Didn't he drop a big pass, too? And now makes a good play on defense, he's just zigging and zagging. Oh, yeah, it's all over the place for him, but he's still being a huge factor. New first down and 10. Dumb off pass a Nesbit out of the backfield.

Still on his feet past the 45 toward the 50. He got about 8 yards. This is the aggressiveness that Nesbitt brings with him. And this is how East Valley starts to become looking a lot more aggressive and fearful towards this Roger defense. You have Diesel who can make plays, you have Nesbitt who can make plays.

And now you start to see the other key players they have on this team. East Valley down seven to three, 135 in the clock. Running to go in the first half. They've got about 50 yards to go if they want to try to take the lead or get within one before the end of the half. Wilkerson takes the snap, rolls right, runs out of bounds, got a gain of five.

That's the name of orthodontics. First down and it will move the chains. He's running awkwardly and limping a lot based off when he was tackled earlier and he went out. However, he's still able to pick up a first down there and shows one what type of player he is. Fight through that pain.

It's not the best football ever. However, we're seeing two teams with players who are stepping up and making really good plays. Can't be too mad about that. Oh, second down and long. Nesbitt will run it out of the backfield instead.

No, he's taken down Rogers defensive lineman all over him on that play and a loss of two. I would love to see East Valley take advantage of the youth that Rodgers has on this. On this defense, however, we haven't really seen too much of it. It's kind of been a back and forth and Rogers tends to hold their own on defense and it looks like we have a timeouts on the field for no particularly good reason. I guess East Valley wants to drop what is going to be a long second down and eight play.

But I guess it makes sense, Dante, because they're down 7 to 3, 45 seconds to go. They just want to get in field goal range. Yeah, they just want to get as close if they're not going to be able to. So they're just resetting the clock back to 53 seconds. However, if they're not going to be able to get a touchdown here, they at least want to get in a spot to where they're close enough to run to put at least three on the board and just be down by one.

That makes the game a little bit more easier for them and it makes it to where they can come out and put some. If they need to kick another field goal, they can automatically be in the lead. Okay, so you've watched East Valley once this season already. I have a question for you. We saw earlier in the game that Vargas has a leg.

That's why it's seven to three. He kicked a long field goal. Is he just better at long kicks? Why didn't they have him kick it when they were down on the 10th? They were more comfortable being able to pick up the first down there than what they are doing it from a longer range.

They're not really a team that when in there, when they're in the position that they are right now is third down and 12. They're not good at picking up these type of things. And they were 12 yards away from the first down. All right, two receivers split to the left, one to the right. On second and 12, Wilkerson drops back, throws into coverage towards Spend Love.

And that looks like it's going to be pass interference on Orlando Moore. He tripped up Spend Love trying to make the catch. This might be on the offense, actually. This might be on Spend Love. Offensive pass interference it is.

Wow. Orlando Moore, man, feast your famine, huh? When it rains at Porsche. Yeah, I agree with that call there. Spenlow is just so much bigger than Moore that as he's running he kind of has more in a little bit like in a headlock kind of as he's running.

And it's just. It's a clear pass interference. It's on. It's unintentional by him for sure, just because of the height difference, offensive pass interference, but that's the call. That's another penalty that hurts this team.

Both teams are really just being succumbed by penalties right now. It's hurting them. Yeah, it's been a pretty ugly first half. Unnecessary penalties on crucial plays. Not touchdowns being called back, but plays that would have set up touchdowns being called back, plays being driven back, touchdowns being called back.

Everything that affects these two teams is all driven by mental mistakes and penalties. If they're able to correct those, this game is going to change and it won't be a 73 game. We'll have higher scores. All right, second down in 20, rather. Third down and 25.

Third and 25 for East Valley. After the penalty, Wilkerson drops back. He's looking downfield, nowhere to throw it. He'll run. Turns up field, runs himself 40.

45 yard line to the 50, across the 50, 45, 40. Still on his feet. He got the Damon Orthodontics. First down, down to the Rodgers 35. A run of almost 30 yards.

Deontay when they knew it was coming. He's just such an impressive runner that it's hard to stop him. It was a pass play. He's able to get out of the pocket after being pressured. Limps his way for 30 yards for a first down and he's just very impressive and he's must see tv.

Someone you want to watch play. Unbelievable. That was a run of 30 yards that enabled orthodontics first down. All of a sudden, East Valley has a chance. 31 seconds to go until halftime.

They're down 7 to 3, but now they're at the Rogers 35 and they do have a kicker. Here comes a snap. Wilkerson at the belt. He'll run it up the middle. Gain of two yards went nowhere.

I think Rogers has a timeout left. Rather, East Valley has a timeout. They do and they will burn. Another timeout. Not a surprise.

24 seconds. Probably drawn up a play that gets you in the right kind of field goal range here, right? Dante, it's. You must get into field goal range here because you know that they're not really picking up a lot of yards when they need to. Every single play.

However, they have a career to make good kicks. Go to his strong side, whether that's the right hash or the left hash, allow him to get a good clean kick and put three on the board. Make this drive worth it. Alonzo Vargas, we know it can Kick it. He's a senior, six feet tall, 290 pounds.

He's a lineman. He's also their field goal kicker. He's got a real leg on him. The question is, will we get to see him here before the end of the half? And that will be the smart choice to allow him to put his foot on the ball.

He's doing a good job of he did a good job on that last field goal to make it and they're going to need him to do it again. Empty backfield here for Wilkerson on second down and eight after the short run on the last play, only one deep safety back for Rogers. Here comes the snap. Wilkerson looks downfield, throws over the middle. He's got Spenlov.

Three, two, one. Touchdown. No. It's Hunter Green. Hunter Green took it away.

Spent love was in the neighborhood. And the sophomore Hunter Green takes it in and puts East Valley back in the lead with 17 seconds until halftime. It's a big time pass there. He had a receiver that was. He was covered up.

He had a DB right there. But he was able to thread that pass in there and allow his receiver to get a chance to make a play there. He caught it, was able to just cruise in for the easy touchdown. Pat on Vargas gets it up through the uprights. It is up and it is good.

10 to 7, East Valley. They got the down the field really quickly to haunted faster than we've seen them do it all day. They did and that's just capability of what this East Valley team is able to do. They were taken away from penalties and even if they didn't get those penalties, they would have drove even faster down the field. This East Valley team has weapons and they have good players and when they're all clicking and on the same page, they're able to put points on the board like they did right there and take come back with the lead.

All right, so 17 seconds to go in the first half. 10 to 7, East Valley. Did you see East Valley leading this game at halftime based on the last 12 minutes play based off the last 12 minutes? No. But coming into the game I thought that they were automatically going to have a lead early on.

They haven't been playing the best in beginning in the early on of this game and that show they were down. However they're picking it up and this starting to be the East Valley team that they're. That they're proud of this East Valley team. That was a really impressive last couple of minutes considering that passing has not really Been their strong suit today. What a couple of botched plays passing the ball, but I guess both teams have.

So Vargas back to kick from the East Valley 40 on the right side of the field. Puts his right foot into it. A knuckle kick. It is received out of the 20. And here comes Warwick on the return 30 yard line toward the 35.

Taken down around the knees. Clock stops at nine seconds. So that's probably time for one more play for Rogers. And it looks like he's valuable. Will take the lead going into halftime.

Surprisingly enough, yeah, the one play here shouldn't be anything too crazy. Maybe just a small run. Just go ahead and get the clock to run out. There's no reason to take a huge shot downfield. You haven't done it all game.

So just stay true to what you do. Run the ball, allow the clock to go out and go into halftime and figure out how to get a lead and keep it. All right, so what will Rodgers do here to take the ball over on their own 33 after the kick return, two receivers split each way for Kinsey surveys the defense. One deep safety back for East Valley in their white uniforms. Here comes a snap.

Kinsey takes it at the top of the letter, throws it deep down the field. He's got a man in coverage. Pass caught. Oh, man, you gotta be kidding me. Warwick headed to the 105 touchdown with no time left on the clock.

It was a Hail Mary. Warwick went up and made the catch his second of the day. And Rodgers is going to lead going into halftime. Wow, what a change, huh? I mean, not too many times am I usually wrong about what they should do, but that was a huge pass.

Great catch downfield. Two guys there, the corner under jumped it. The safety was too late. Warwick makes a huge grab for a touchdown to give them a lead going into half. What a way to end this first half, huh?

Rogers is looking outstanding. This has been a weird, ugly first half of football. And weirdly, I guess that makes sense. That would be how this first happens. And that's the only way it should end right there.

I mean, geez, great way to end this half. All right, Roger sends out the pat. Here comes the right hand swing. It is up and it sneaks through. It is good.

Man, what a weird first half of football in today's Arby's GSL Game of the Week on Saturday 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. We will keep you back to the halftime show. I'm Greg Tallet, he's Dehante Hayes. At the break after a Hail Mary to end the first half.

It is Rogers 14, East Valley 10. This has just been a weird one today to Hante. What, what have you picked up? What's your big takeaway from half number one? Yeah, it's been a little bit all over the place, but what I've taken away is that what we thought was going to happen is what's happening.

I mean, the quarterbacks are battling and the defense are going head to head. It's really, it's a really nice game overall, even though it is a bit weird, there's still a lot of good plays and a lot of good players that are out there just doing whatever they need to do for their team. Let's go ahead and try to recap the scoring. So East Valley actually got on the board first. It was a field goal by Vargas and we're like, boy, that guy's got a leg.

Because that was about almost a 40 yard kick. It was definitely an unexpected kick that we thought that they were going to go. Just go ahead and go for it since they were attempting to play before. Come out, kick a good field, go and put three on the board really early. Then the first work touchdown, put Rodgers ahead is 7 to 3.

East Valley a pass touchdown with about what, two minutes left in the first half. That put them back ahead. That was to Green, the sophomore that made it 10 to 7. And then just unbelievable, they went to Warwick over the top. His second touchdown of the game.

I just don't even know what to say about this first half of football. So East Valley field goal. Rogers to work the first time. East Valley passing touchdown. Then with no time left on the clock, Rogers to work the second time.

How impressed are you with Kinsey for Rodgers? I think Kinsey's just, he's absolutely, he's the man. He's a stud right now. I was thinking that going into this game, Diesel Wilkinson was going to be the guy that we were just awing over. He was just the person.

I was going to do everything. However, based off of that little injury that he had with his ankle, he hasn't been able to do as much as what he normally does. So Kinsey has just taken over the show. He's getting interceptions, he's playing offense, he's playing defense, he's punting it. I mean, you can ask more from a player, especially from your quarterback alone.

You have to imagine the East Valley defensive coaching staff is just chewing out that defense for allowing a Hail Mary. They've got to know that's coming. So what was the breakdown on that play, how did that happen? It was very interesting. So when Kinsey first dropped back and took a look at that right receiver, it was double coverage.

You had a safety over the top. You had a corner underneath. He threw it anyways in a great spot. This corner under jumped it. He jumped way too early.

The receiver was able to come up with the pass. The safety overran it and it was just easy. It was easy to break through the tackle and it was easy. Touchdown. We run for sure.

However, I don't think that they've picked up too many yards on the run. On the ground game they made good plays downfield, they made plays when they're necessary.

That's why they're only down four. Also, they needed the outside linebackers and d' ams to be strong against Rodgers and be able to stop the run. I don't know if they're doing that too much. We're just getting started by the way with a great weekend of sports on 700 ESPN. Dante Hayes I know Eastern is back this weekend against Sac State. Yeah, Sac State is going to be a pretty big game for them. We haven't done too good at Eastern of winning games. These last four games were.

04 right now these last four games, Sac State has not played in any games where they were down. They haven't really been down in any games. It's going to be really hard for Eastern to come out that their defense has to be stellar tomorrow and their offense is going to have to put points on the board very quick. And every time they have the that's going to be big for them to come away with a win tomorrow. Talk about a team that's just gotten better and better in terms of building a program.

Sac State, when they joined the Big sky, especially the last couple years, they weren't a powerhouse. But all of a sudden you look around the standings, everyone's like, stack State. What? Yeah, Sac State has definitely made a name for themselves these last couple years. They picked up a lot of actually former Eastern coaches who went over there and helped build a program that is something that you want to brag about.

They've won the base guy, I believe the last two seasons. They also beat me when we played in 2019 and they have just been rolling ever since. Their defense is insane and their offense is just rolling. It's so funny. Even just a couple of years ago when he talked about the Big sky, it was really just Montana, Montana State and Eastern.

But like you said last couple of years, Sac State, all of a sudden a team you have to look out for, Sac State is doing it. They're doing everything they need to do in order to win. And I mean, being able to say that you haven't been down in any of the games you play. They played five games this season. They haven't been down one time.

That's an incredible stat or something to stay. And that's the huge, that's the biggest key point that coach Aaron Best, head coach for East Washington, talks about. As I was just listening to his coaches show, he's talking about how big that is. And their defense really has to key in on the run. Defense has been giving up a lot of yards this year.

They have to be able to handle that tomorrow. You said that Eastern is. 04 in their last four games. Obviously you've been watching them out, whether in person or on tv. What is it they need to turn around?

What is the culprit? They've been putting us some really hard teams. There's nothing against them at all. I mean, they're playing against Oregon, they're playing against Florida, they're playing against Montana State, Weber State. Like these are, these are tough schedule.

This is a very, very tough schedule for them and they're just automatically jumping into it with a whole basically new team. They lost a lot of key players last year. All they need is just those leaders to step up, make those plays and they'll be perfect for tomorrow's game. Well, the Goats, Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen will be back with you on Saturday for the Broadcast of that game on this very fine radio station station back here though in Mead. Both teams are on the field.

We're ready to kick off half number two of the Arby's GSL game of the week between the Rogers Pirates and the East Valley Knights at the break. Rogers 14, East Valley 10. And Rodgers will get the ball to kick off rather they will receive the kickoff. The Papa Murphy's kickoff. Change the way you pizza from Vargas.

He's a pretty phenomenal kicker for them. Alonzo vargas, he's 6ft tall, 295 pounds. He's standing on the left side of the fields 40 yard line looking downfield. The referees are still conferring and they came out of the tunnel a couple minutes late as well. We've just been waiting on the refs for the last two minutes and now it looks like he's going to talk to the press box.

I'm not sure what's happening. He's sending the Rogers to Pirates back to the right side of the field. Okay, he's putting a three in the air with his left hand. I'm wondering if he's saying that we need an additional three minutes to warm up. Yeah, it appears these both the teams came out a little early.

They. Well, no, they already came out. They warmed up. Yeah, yeah, they were perfect with the clock, but now with the rules, it's the 15 minutes during halftime plus another 3 minutes for them to actually get a warm up. Both teams came out early and were on time with the warmup, so they didn't realize that they still had an additional three minutes attached.

Okay, so now that we've got an additional three minutes attached, let's go ahead and save what we were talking about that we didn't get a chance to do for the halftime show. De Hunter, you made some predictions early on. You said East Valley would be the favorite, but it kind of depends how how Wilkerson was looking at the break. Rodgers is leading. What is, what kind of adjustments do you think both teams made at halftime?

I think that Rodgers is going to have to come out the same way they came out in the beginning of the game. I mean, they did give up three points. However, since then they've been rolling. They were three points right in the beginning, but ever since they've been rolling, they look really good. Their defense hasn't really given up too much even though they were.

They've given up a little bit of big chunk plays here and there, but they're doing a good job. And for East Valley they just have to make sure that that Diesel is feeling good and poised and he's not hurting or limping or anything. He's a big key to their offense. I mean, they have Nesbitt, who's doing great too, but Diesel's their key. Diesel is the key, no doubt.

Second half, I'm. I'm interested to know. So East Valley's defense was not the unit we were worried about coming into this game. Coming in, we were looking at the Rogers defensive line. The interesting thing about East Valley is they put a lot of guys down, but they're also fast in the linebacker spot.

You'd think they'd have better luck wrapping up Kinsey when he runs. They just haven't. Kinsey just seems to be doing a good job of making guys miss. He's making guys slip off him. He's cutting, he's going back and forth.

He's very patient with the ball in his hands. I think that's what's helping him. But he's very shifty. If you take a bad angle, if you step over one time, Kings is going to make you pay. And he's showing that with when he went every time he runs the ball.

No question about it. So the clock is now then reset. We have one minute and 15 seconds until we kick off the second half. It kind of seems like the coaches and players were annoyed with the referees there. They were ready to get the game going.

I think they're hyped and ready to go. They must have had. Both teams must have had good speeches on halftime because the way they did not want to go and stretch some more was very funny. Well, now they're basically just stretching and doing those things where they go down and touch their calves and stretch them out around the five yard line. But they're both like, what are we doing at this point?

They've done every warmup you could possibly think of. Just gotta say your ABCs for the next minute and get ready to go back out. Unbelievable. Once again, we only have the first game of tonight's doubleheader on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM.

Tonight, if you are hoping to catch Lewis and Clark at Mead, it's not going to be on this radio station again. You have to come out to meet if that's the case. Referees now back out on the field. Players and coaches kind of rolling their eyes saying, okay, let's get it underway. Here we go for half number two again.

Rogers leads 14 to 10. They will get the ball back to start half number two on the far left side of the field you see some of the Mead football coaches and some of the Mead football players showing up again for their seven o' clock game with the Lewis and Clark Tigers. That is going to be a big one tonight. You are watching gents Hilburn for Lewis and Clark all the way. Gents is going to have an outstanding game tonight.

He's their key. He does everything every single game for them and I think that he's going to have an outstanding game. This is a huge showcase spotlight game for him. Speed Panthers team And coming up at 7 o' clock against Lewis and Clark the ball is in the air. Back on the field over the Papa Murphy's kickoff.

Change the way you pizza. It's out of bounds along the left side. So Rogers takes over at their own 35. That was about the first time we seen him kick. Where was it?

A really good kick, honestly. Yep. Okay, so the 35 yard line is where these Rogers pirates will start. They're 1 and 5 on the season. Oh and 3 in the GSL.

But they lead 14 to 10. And actually we'll go back to the previous spot. A five yard penalty be assessed and we'll replay the kick. Man, we're going to do it again. We're just having a bunch of hard time getting the second half started.

I wonder if that, that's an interesting call there to. To have them re kick instead of just going ahead and taking the penalty. Getting at the 35 that's a lot of yardage. Plus you can get the game rolling like. Like Rogers wanted to do earlier.

Well, guess we'll just do it again. That was already a pretty long first half of football by GSLC standards. That first half was an hour long billed about a half hour for each 12 minute quarter. Man, at this, at this point it's 5:23. I think we'd be lucky if we got out of here by, by 6:30.

And we've got a 7 o' clock game here for LC and Mead. It's going to be a tight one for sure. Hopefully these two teams can get it rolling. I think we're just. If that's the case we'll need to see more running than we did in the first half.

All right, here's the second. Papa Murphy's kickoff. Change the way you pizza flies out of bounds again around the 20 again it's going to be the 35. There's a flag down at the 20. On what?

Oh, just because it's out of bounds. Okay. I was like they Are not doing this again to Hante. Not again. No.

It's interesting because I mean that's what I expected to happen twice on the kicking team. Assess a five yard penalty for the previous spot and retry the kick. We're going to kick this ball for the third time to start the second half. That's a bit of an interesting call there to have him re kick it again, but I guess we're gonna just be. I think they just want to see if Vargas can kick it in bounds.

I think. Well, all I know is Rogers is going to have some incredible field position here as long as they stay penalty free. And they're going to be able to go ahead and add on to this leads with the way this game is starting off. So Instead of the 40, East Valley's now got to kick it off from their own 30. And their receivers are back at the 20 to return it.

Vargas right hand in the air. Third time to the charm the third pompa Murphy's kickoff changed the way you pizza. That's a good kick. It's between the hashes, down to the 20 yard line. And here comes the return by Eric Griffey still on his feet.

35 yard line to the 40. Cuts along the far side. 45, 50. Down to the 40, 35, 30. He's got one man to beat.

20, 15, 10, 5. Touchdown Eric Griffey on the return. But a flag is down to the 25. That one might be coming back. It was a little bit of an unnecessary block in the back on this play.

There was very far away from the ball carriers so it's definitely going to take away this, this really nice return after three kicks. Really, really unnecessary block in the back here. You just cleaned the guy up who was super far away from the ball. Carrying was not going to be a factor in the tackle at all. Referees are marching this ball back to at the 30 yard line instead of a touchdown return.

And it is certainly not going to stand for the Pirates. Referees still waiting to let us know what's going on. Looks like they'll march this ball from the 25 yard line. They're marching to the right. A 10 yard penalty to the 35 yard line.

So still you said it to Hante. So it was a block in the back unnecessarily. So that. But again still great field position. 35 yard line.

It is but this is this thing that we were talking about in the. In the first half there was just so many unnecessary penalties that just hurt this team. And now that just Took six points off the board. There we are just now starting the third quarter. 11:44 to go in the third, 14 to 10.

Rogers on top of East Valley. Rogers begins their second half of play. Here comes a high snap. Kinsey takes it himself on his feet. Down to the 33 yard line.

And a gain of about four yards on the ground is just what we're gonna have to see in order to get this game rolling. They're gonna have to figure out a way because I mean, you get the momentum on your side, then a penalty takes it back. Now you're just in a lull state right now. The game is very lulled because of how long it's taken to start. Well, in case people were just not paying attention, let's recap it for you.

At home the referees came out, demanded an extra three minutes of warm up time on the clock. Then we had two penalties on two kickoffs. It took us until our third kick to finally do it. It was a touchdown that got called back. And here they come now on second and eight.

Swing along the right side. It's Gabe Skinner. Gets toward the line of scrimmage. No, he's taken down in the backfield. What attacker tackle by Windhorst.

And that's a loss of a play, loss of three. This is a pretty good start for this East Valley defense right now. This is actually the way they needed to come out. Very aggressive. Not allowing this Rogers offense to, to get clicking the way they were the way they ended that first half.

So East Valley holds it up here. They're going to give their office a chance to come back out here without any points being put on. Third down and 11 for Rogers. They took a lead on the Hail Mary at the horn in the first half. Second half of the moment, they start here, third and 11.

Here comes the snap to Kinsey. Looks left, looks right, throws a bullet over the slot, threw it behind his receiver. Warrick ends up on his behind and it's incomplete. It'll be fourth down and 11. It was a very inaccurate pass there.

I mean, he had the receiver, he had work wide open. He just threw it behind him about a yard or two. He tried to reach back and grab it, but if he completes that pass, they're gonna get a good gain and they could potentially pick up the first down. But now they're kicking it instead and East Valley has a chance. The scouting report on Kinsey is that he's got a, got a good arm but accuracy is still developing.

So Rogers ready to kick it away right to left from the 35 yard line. They were not able to do anything on that drive. On the three and out. Kane puts it in the air, A knuckling punt down to the 15 yard line, takes a decent bounce and Rogers touches it at the 17. Okay, so amazing that Rogers got it on the 35 and couldn't even pick up a first down to hunting.

Yeah, I mean you can't ask for much better field positioning. I mean besides the touchdown being taken back, you get really good field positioning. You're all you flipped the field already without even running a play. Put some points on the board. I mean there with the way they ended the first half, I'm surprised they didn't at least get a first down there.

Alrighty. So West Valley down 14 to 10 for their first drive of the second half. Diesel Wilkerson, one of the best players in the GSL takes the snap, gets back to the 20 yard line, picks up about 2 on the QB sneak. The hesitation before it was a like he, he kind of like faked the pitch and then try to go ahead and allow the play to develop. The Rogers defensive line just got there way too quick.

My guess here to Hanty is they know that they have another whole quarter of football right. This is the beginning of the, of the third quarter. I think we might just see a lot of QB running here in the third quarter and they're going to do it again. Wilkerson goes to the right side, turns up field 25 yard line toward the 30. Looks like you got the name of Orthodontics.

First down that'll move the chains. That the one thing but both teams deontay have been able to do tonight is run the ball with the QBs. And they're gonna keep doing it until it doesn't work. The QBs have been a huge, a huge, huge part of their, their success for both teams and that's just what is gonna have to be throughout the game. Diesel's looking a little bit better.

Looks like he got his ankle stretched out during halftime. He's running a little bit more fluidly and that's just, that's a great way that a great sign for this East Valley team. Got up to the 31 yard line. That's a new first and 10. Wilkerson takes it off to the right side, went off tackle and a great tackle by the D line for Rodgers gain of 1.

The D line is really holding their own in this game, I must say. I mean there's not too many times after being held looks like we've got a Rogers player down on the field at the 32 yard line. Around the line of scrimmage. Tackle by number seven 70 day out there Bradford. That looks like it is number 64 Makai Burgess, one of the defensive linemen and they will call the Rodgers team off the field just to see if he's okay.

That'll allow us to take our first time out of the second half. He is standing, he's getting helped by one of the trainers for Rogers, but it looks like he's gonna be okay and doesn't actually need the stretcher, so thank goodness. So back on the field though, East Valley's offense gets back to work from their own 31 yard line. 2nd and 10 after the no gain on the run. Wilkerson and a deep shotgun. Two split receivers far apart on his left and one to his right.

Here comes the snap, fakes the handoff, then throws deep. It's play action over the top and it's knocked away by Orlando Moore who's already got a pick tonight. I'm loving what I see from these DBs on the Rogers side. They look really nice dogs. They really are.

Like that was impressive. It's one on one coverage. You play a great lock, lean, locate and Is able to turn around and almost make a play on the ball. He almost intercepted that. He just got one hand up instead.

That's a big time play there. Well, huge. Especially considering that pass was intended for the 6 foot 3, 190 Owen spent. Usually if he's in the vicinity, he makes the catch. Not that time though.

Nice knock away by burgess from the 31 yard line. Third down and 10 now for East Valley. They'll go back to the ground. Wilkerson on his feet, 35 yard line 40. Cuts outside his pass on the linebackers and he's turning up field 40.

35, 30 down to the Rogers 25 yard line. A massive run, a gain of about 40 yards in a name in orthodontics. First down and another touchdown saving tackle by Kinsey. Kinsey just continues to make plays on the field no matter where, where he's at, offense, defense or special teams, that's what you want to see. Like that's, that's huge as he comes off, but you can tell he's okay.

I mean he's a big time player and key player for this team, no question about it. All right, they got down to the Rogers 24 yard line. East Valley down 4 but looks like they've got a chance to retake the lead here. Handoff the the middle to Nesbitt. He got to the 20, gain of about 4 yards.

Nesbitt just seems to be bouncing off of tacklers picking up that many yards. Geez, he was tackled nearly near the back foot and was able to pick up plenty of yards. No doubt about it. A beautiful night by the way here in Meadas. The sun is getting ready to set.

We've got the mountains out to the right down Spokane. It's a pretty scene out here. 8:30 to go, here comes a snap, handoff in the middle. Nesbitt stays on his feet, churns forward down to the 50. If he didn't get the first down, he's awfully close.

Picked up almost enough. It's going to be third down and inches. Didn't get it. Tough spot there by the refs. I mean they'll be getting a little bit of tough spots all night but I mean all Diesel has to do is go out there.

Oh, looks like they might measure it. Referees are not so sure. They might get the chains out here. Smart thing to do here. East Valley and Rogers.

Coaches are calling their guys off the line. Referees conferring. These refs don't care if we're playing in time for the Mead LC game. At seven. No, the.

The refs must be getting paid hourly that others resent the Mead fans who want to get their game started on time. At 7, they're bringing out the chains from the far side of the field. See Dante, I thought that was a first down. I thought it was too. It looked like he fell forward for enough to be able to pick up that first down.

It just seemed like they're getting a little bit of a tough spot. Balls down to the 16. They're stretching out the chains on the far right side of the field. Looks to me like they're about to say he got it, but we'll see. They're now stretching out, referees marking it down.

It's like they're teaching them how to use the chains. Yeah, it's a little bit of a tutorial right now. No. First down, third down in inches indeed for East Valley. Still, do you go.

Do you go back to Wilkerson here? That's the best option for you right now. He's destined to pick up at least 1 yard. All he has to do is fall forward, put the ball in your playmakers hands and allow him to get the first down. Jumbo formation for East Valley.

Here comes a snap. It's going to be a QB draw. Wilkerson up the middle off tackle, got down to the 10. That is an Eman Orthodontics first down. And that's the right call there.

You'd need one yard. You know, you have a key player who's able to pick up one yard no matter what. And that's what he does. Good first down. They're really close to putting points on the board here in the goal line.

And the clock is moving just now down inside. Eight minutes to go in the third quarter. Rogers 14, East Valley 10. But East Valley is down at the Rogers 10 yard line with only one deep safety back on defense. Here comes the snap.

Handoff to Nesbitt. He fumbled the snap. Rather he fumbled the hand off the Nesbit balls on the ground. Rogers says they have it on the 10. They do.

What a break for Rodgers. The snap shot like a rocket to Wilkinson. He didn't even get a grip on it. And right when he tried to hand it off to Nesbitt, they both just. The ball just bounced right off them and it big time turnover.

And an even better recover for Rogers. No way. East Valley head all the way down to the Rodgers 10. And they give it away on a bad transfer on a simple handoff dive play which is just kind of what's been Going on this entire game for this East Valley team, they just can't seem to catch a break right now.

And that's very unfortunate that that drive had to end on a turnover. That is just brutal. Okay, so Rogers now takes over on their own 10. They're driving right to left across your radio dialer. Here comes a hand off the Eric Griffey.

He cuts right 15 yard line toward the 20. He got about 8 yards. Rogers offense comes out rolling right off of the turnover. If they could put points on the board here, it's really going to put East Valley in a tough spot. Being down that many points at one time.

Yeah, it would put them in a bind for sure. Man. If East Valley ends up losing this game to Rogers, that might be the play where they're like, well, that and giving up the hail Mary. That's two careless plays in the span of a couple minutes. There's been a couple plays in this game that I know they're going to want back and I know that they can make those corrections.

The game's not too far over yet. It's a snap and Kinsey fumbled the snap and he's able to pick it up. And he runs to the left, gets the 15 to the 20. Might be a horse collar tackle. Balls on the field.

Rodgers recovers for a loss of 4. Amazing. There were no flags on that play. It was a horse collar tackle. There was nothing called there, which was interesting.

Which caused him to fumble the ball. Right. And they actually lost yards because he had the first down already. If it wasn't due to that awkward tackle over the first time tonight. Interesting.

The refs are not gonna make that about them in the second half. Okay, so third down and three. Third down and three for Rogers. This has been the weirdest game. It's been very weird on all ends, but I'm loving what I'm seeing from.

From Kinsey. Yeah. Isn't he great? Yeah. Dion Kinsey, the six foot junior right handed quarterback, dynamic guy.

They run the option, he cuts up field, sees that it was going to be tackled. Nope. Goes back off to the right 20 yard line. 25 still on his feet. Picks up the name of orthodontics.

First down along the edge, but a flag comes in. What a surprise. Jackman. The players number three, Hunter Green. Wait to see what the referees have to say.

This looks like it's coming back and it won't be a first down for Rogers. That's another missed opportunity for a first down there. If it is a penalty, which it appears Rogers Is already walking back. Oh, they know for sure. Yeah, that was going to be some kind of holding or some kind of push off.

Looks like it's older. And they are indeed going to march this one back. Both teams have been shooting themselves in the foot. That's two fumbles, by the way, in the course of two minutes in the spot of the foul. The remaining blocking the back, not a, not a hold.

It's a lot of penalties. That's not allowing either one of these teams to be able to get a drive going to where they really feel comfortable. Like they're just really moving the ball. Every time we think that they're getting a good drive, it's just something happens that. That just holds them.

No doubt about it. Okay, so after the penalty, it goes from third down and one to third down and six for Rogers kids. He's got three receivers split to his left, nobody to do his right. They're on the right hash mark. He drops back, delivers a bullet pass.

He's got work. Makes the catch, 25 yard line. Got up to the 27. That's the name of orthodontics. First down and finally Kinsey with a throw right on the letters.

Good. Good pass, good catch. Only thing I would like for him to see is just lead his receiver a little bit more so he doesn't have to stop to catch it. Other than that, it's a great first down there, and that's how you make something happen after all these unfortunate penalties that have been going on during this drive. Yeah, no doubt about it.

All right, so Rodgers leads 14 to 10, 533 to go here in the first half. Now finally to their 25 yard line after they started the drive at their own 10. 3 receiver. Look here, Kinsey. Play action.

No, hands it off to Griffey. It looked like he was going to fake that and said the handoff went to the tailback. He got a gain of five yards. He's between the hashes. Griffey's been good for about four or five yards a lot of the time that I, I kind of thought that he would break it a couple more times than he has.

This East Valley team is doing a great job of not allowing any of these short, intermediate runs to extend for big, big chunk yards. And I think that's, that's a huge testament to them. However, they have been beat on big, big runs. It hasn't been anything in between the tackles. Four, wide receiver.

Look, fake handoff. Kinsey takes it himself. 35 yard line, 40 on his feet. To the 45. Taken down just shy of midfield.

Great big play saving tackle by Nesbitt, but it's a huge demon. Orthodontics first down and again at about 20 yards. Kinsey is probably right now one of the most explosive and shifty quarterbacks I've seen right now. I've seen a lot of quarterbacks throughout the season and he's, he's incredible. I'm very impressed, especially given what their record is right now.

He's looking like a stud. The first guy is missing almost every single time they get to him. No question about it. Kinsey's been a monster again. Did not play quarterback until he got the high school but he's so dynamic now.

Turns and gives off to Griffey. Gain of one. Didn't even get to midfield. 27 Eric Griffey. Clock continues to run.

410, 409 for eight to go in the third quarter. Finally got this quarter off the ground. After five or six false starts, the bands of by and large stop playing. And the cheerleaders have by and large stop cheering. Kind of feel like no one knows how loud to be for a game like this because every play is getting called back.

Yeah, you get excited then they take it away from you and then you don't get excited and then they make you excited. And it's just a backup and forth roller coaster right now. A wing T formation for Rogers. They run the option pitch right to Warwick. He turns up field 50, 45, 40 pass one of the safety spins off a man down to the 30 yard line.

Looked like he almost fumbled. He did not. Another gain of 20 yards on the day with orthodontics first down and the Rogers option works this time. Warwick is just, he's been. He needs the ball in his hand at some point throughout the game.

Multiple times too. Work associated shifty and able to make people miss. He's spinning off tackles, he's cutting underneath people and he's, he's, he's not a big guy. I mean he's only five, nine if that. And you can really see he's, he's a big threat.

Rogers can allow him to be in this game. He loves to get to the corners and, and, and Ronald got a touchdown as well. So here comes the handoff back to Griffey. This might be a big play. Down to the 25, down to the 20.

Gain of 10 yards in an even orthodontics first down. The finally open. Open some space on the right side of the line for him. They're looking Good right now they're, they're pulling, they're putting together a really good series and a really good drive that's allowing them to get here into this red zone. Kinsey's such an interesting back and I like what I'm seeing from when he runs the ball. He's very slow and patient when he, when he's carrying the ball. But he's such a big back and continues to move his feet that he's allowed to pick up those extra extra yards after contact. Flock will run 150. 149.

Well, we have been playing football here at Union Stadium in Mead for just shy of two hours and we're just now ready to start the fourth quarter. As we start the fourth, it is Rogers 21 and East Valley 10. Rogers just had a fantastic touchdown drive to put him ahead 11. And now East Valley after the kick return has 83 yards to go to hunting down there. They're down 11 here, but again their last drive they gave it away on a fumble at the 10. East Valleys are struggling to put good drives and good quality drives together that have been turning into points.

They're gonna have to really change it up and do something here that's gonna allow them to make good plays. In this where we start see the reverse and misdirection play. So they run a reverse on the first play, Kareem cuts up the middle, got a gain about 3 yards out of it, did a lot of work. Normally those plays work, but he cut it in short. Thought he had a cut back lane.

Dante, this is probably the longest GSL game we have seen seen this year, huh? It's a bit of a long game because they're transferring possession so fast, which is just allowing the clock to have to stop over and over and over again, plus the penalties. He got up to about the 26. Might be a yard or two short of that first down. His Rogers defense is playing their best game of the year, no doubt about it. Oh, for sure. And that's what they had to do against this Diesel Wilkinson kid because he is an outstanding runner.

He looks great with the ball in his hands. But this is just what we've seen against West Valley too when they lost in that game. Diesel trying to do a lot big time hold there. And that's going to be fortunate for East Valley. They were close to picking up the first down already with Diesel's run.

Now they definitely get it and they get even closer to reversing the field and being able to score some points. No doubt about it. All right, so I'll tell you too. So Rogers leads 21 to 10 here in the fourth quarter. I have not seen them yet this year.

To Hanse, they look so much more dynamic than I was led to believe they are. They really do. And I. That's the same thing. I'm thinking too.

I came in the game thinking, okay, they're a one in five team. They haven't really done the best this year, but they have a really good quarterback and we're seeing a team that doesn't. They don't live off the stat sheet. They look way better than that. Here comes East Valley.

It's just when they get to the red zone where they struggle the most and I'm hoping that they can be able to put some points on the board this time. Jumbo set with a fullback for East Valley. Wilkinson rolls outside past the 45 down inside the Rodgers 40. Looks like he got a Damon Orthodontics first down. Ball came loose after the play that was just down by contact so that that clock should but here's the thing though, I know they like to run deontay but they don't have that much time.

Diesel took a huge hit at the end of that play which made the ball come out. He runs up the field limping. He's now running down the sideline limping again. Looks like that same her ankle that he hurt earlier which is a huge, huge problem for for East Valley because when the other quarterback came in they struggled to move the ball at all as Diesel eventually goes down and the trainers Go to go help him.

So for the second time this game, Diesel is down on a big hit and they will bring in their backup quarterback, the sophomore Aiden Swanson. So let's see what the sophomore can do. Got to imagine they're not going to make him throw out of a pistol formation this time. He rolls out to the right, he is going to throw. Dumps it off.

No, it's tipped away by one of the defensive linemen. Knowing what type of quarterback comes in. Rodgers is really smart for being able to know what these quarterbacks are known for. He's not going to be a threat in the run game the way Diesel is. You know, he's going to want to pass it and then he goes for a little dunk pass.

Great job of getting an arm up and batting that one down. Stops the clock again. 9:30 to go in this one. Rodgers up 21:10 and second down and long for East Valley with their backup quarterback, the sophomore Swanson taking snapshots. Green goes in motion, might run a reverse.

No one said this. Dump it off to Green out of the backfield, but he is surrounded. Turns up field, tries to get to the outside. Now he's to the right side of the line. Now he gets vertical down to the 35 yard line.

He went left all the way across the field to the right and got a gain of 3 yards. He had some good blockers set up for that, for that cutback. I wonder if that's how they expect him to run that play. He cut back, everyone walled it off. He had a great one on one there.

He just wasn't able to to get away from that tackle. And the sun is starting to set here at Union Stadium up in Mead, north of Spokane. Mount Spokane is out to the right of the stadium. A beautiful scenic picture with this dusty, dusky sunset. Handoff up the middle, gain of two yards on third down to Nesbitt.

That'll bring up a weird fourth down situation here to Hanse because they got to go for it. They're down 11, they do have to go for it here, but this is what I was talking about earlier. They always find ways to get really good drives going and then they get halted by something. Wilkinson going out halted this, this drive completely. Now they're stuck with a fourth down when they were really rolling the ball downfield.

Fourth down and six for East Valley without Diesel Wilkerson at quarterback. It's the sophomore Swanson. They put Green in motion. He's got a touchdown already. They turn in handoff to Nesbitt can he do it?

Gets between the tackles. Go to run. Not good enough. Three yards short. It's a turnover.

Good run. Nesbitt tried to pick it up there, he just wasn't able to pick up the first down. They really needed it there. That's unfortunate. They're down 11, there's only eight minutes left.

Rogers is doing a good job of holding the ball for a good amount of time. So hopefully they don't put any more points on the board here or this game will be over. Freeze Valley. We'll see what Rod. So they take over after the turnover at their own 32 yard line on the left side of the field.

Then four straight losses, Freeman, Pullman, Shadow park and Clarkston. They have not lost a game this year where the defense didn't give up 40 tonight they've only given up 10. Here comes Kinsey, takes a snap. QB keeper, turns up field 50, down to the 45, crawls out of bounds around the 40, but a flag comes in from the back Judge. Another flag knocked out of bounds by number 17, Titan Nesbitt.

The penalties in this game are quite ridiculous at this point. I mean, it's the fourth quarter, seven minutes left, up 11 points. It's just kind of sucking the life out of this game because these players are, they're playing really good and making big plays and then boom, it gets taken away every time. It's easy to blame it on the refs. That's also kind of the cheaper thing to do a lot of the time.

It is important to remember that the refs wouldn't be calling these if they weren't adding penalties. Exactly. That's what I mean. Like, it's just crazy that at this point in the game those little unnecessary penalties are still happening. Just like when that touchdown got taken back earlier.

There's no reason. Second down and five after the penalty brought it all the way back. 07:22 to go in the game. And the clock will start on the snap and we'll do it again here. Linebacker blitz.

Why are they having a safety back like 30 yards behind the line of scrimmage? It's always interesting when coaches have safeties do that. Sometimes it's because the safety has a bad habit of backing up and getting too much depth. This allows him to play from the top down. So when the ball is hiked, he can just stand there and then he can make reads, break right, break left, or break downhill instead of him having to backpedal then make those Breaks makes it a little bit easier for the safety to come downhill and make plays and actually deliver big hits.

Yeah, exactly. It's how I like to play. Honestly, I was gonna say. Sounds like someone I know. Yeah, for sure.

Second down and four. Another wide open look for Kinsey. Down inside 5:20. Clock ticks 19:18 handoff. Griffey 45 yard line, gain of three.

It'll be third down and one. This will take us down inside five minutes. And this is where things get a little scary for East Valley. They're not really, throughout this game being known for scoring very quickly, being able to score in a short amount of time. Being down 11 right now and having Wilkinson out.

He's not on defense right now. He was a big key for them on defense and on offense. Not having him in there right now is very unfortunate. They have to get a stop here and try and get the ball back before they run out of time. No question about it.

So third down and two for the Rogers Pirates. Kinsey's coaches said this week that his attitude was what lifts his team when the team knows he's there. His positivity keeps them thinking they can win any game. He takes it himself and gets back to the line of scrimmage. Maybe a gain, a one.

It'll be fourth down. But it's true to Hunt. They like him. Being on the field makes all the difference in the world. For Rogers, it does.

But it also helps that he plays so many different positions, able to be versatile. Because it's always good to say a quarterback is good. You know, every team, their coach is always going to highlight their quarterback, highlight their quarterback. But he's doing it in so many different phases in this game. That's what makes him special.

We're waiting on something for the referees because both teams are not really ready to approach the line of scrimmage. They're doing a runoff. Oh, on fourth down, they're just gonna let it run down. That's a good point. 3, 2, 1.

This one might be a little too much. They may have just ran out of time in this one. Diesel's on the sideline, Hellman off backup quarterback in. They have 90 yards to go. They haven't been able to show that they can drive the full field today.

This one may be out of their reach. Yeah, you're right. I, I was looking there and Diesel is on the sidelines. So that's, that's a game changer. So it is the sophomore quarterback, Aiden Swanson and he's going to try to take his team 90 yards.

This might be them waving the white flag. This could put be potentially it, it makes sense too. Diesel's been a huge key for them. They don't want to hurt him. That could prolong the whole season.

They'll throw down to the left side, double coverage. The second interception of the game for Orlando Moore. He's got into the 40, down to the 30, 35 rather. 30, 25, 20 run out of bounds around what the 10 yard line for the Rogers Pirates. They're back on the field.

What a game for Orlando Moore. He's been redeeming himself and then kicking himself in the foot and redeeming himself again. Yeah, they definitely threw a pass there. That was double coverage and that was not a good read at all. The corner was under it, trailing perfectly.

The Safety was over the top, you threw it directly under, thrown to the corner and he was able to make a huge game back. He put it on the jets and picked up a lot of yards for his offense before taking a monster hit out of bounds. All right, so Rogers gets back back on the field. 325 to go in the game. They lead 21 to 10.

And actually man, he got further than I thought. He was run out of bounds at the five. First and goal at the five for Aaron Kinsey and Rodgers. Another wide open look to receivers, split each way. Griffey in the backfield with Kinsey.

Kinsey is already thrown for a couple of touchdowns tonight. Turning the hands off. Griffey up the middle. Touchdown. And when you get interception and you're able to to return it that close to the end zone, what you would call that in basketball terms is a slam dunk for your offense.

Easy six points back on the board, potentially seven with the PAT and Rogers has a comfortable lead to end this one. Yep, 27 to 10 is our score. Pat will come out on the toilet, try to make it 28. For what it's worth, East Valley has not scored since it was 10 to 7. This is about to be 21 unanswered points by the Rogers Pirates.

And Rogers looks outstanding. Without knowing any past history from them throughout the rest the before this, this game, you would think that they were a huge team in this league. Well, certainly more dynamic than we were all led to believe, right? I agree. Honestly, I, I, I 100% agree.

You, you hear about Rogers and it's not the fact that they're out here making huge plays downfield on offense, on defense. They have a quarterback who can play offense, defense, punt the ball, who can make big tackles and stop touchdowns multiple times throughout one game. They just don't tell you all those things. And that's what this Rogers team has as a penalty on East Valley just occurred and then Rogers declined it so they can continue with their path. Good sportsmanship there.

Rogers did Pat again. High snap kick is up and they sneak another one in. And it is good, just barely. Not much of a kicking unit they have, but it's more than enough. 28 to 10.

East Valley will get the ball back after the kick with what, 320 to go, but this thing's that's pretty much in the bag. 18 points. Yeah, was a little bit optimistic on the last drive that they may be able to march down and put some points on the board. However, with them being down 18 points 3 minutes left. They haven't been able to score.

That would take a. They haven't been able to score for a while. So Rogers came out and played a great game tonight. Rogers, Pirates. So much better, so much more interesting, so much more dynamic than we thought.

Dante. I'm honestly, honestly. It's so funny that they started the season losing these small teams like Clarkston and Bonners Ferry in Deer park. But here they come now. They're finally into GSL play with some of these teams that they really are trying to take down.

They beat North Central, now they're gonna beat his family. I think they might rattle off a couple more wins. I mean, as you look on this Rogers roster, you see there's a lot of juniors, there's a lot of sophomores, a lot of young. They're young, they're young. You have guys on this team and given that some of them may have taken some of their first starts the first couple games of the season.

You have to knock off the rust and get accustomed to the speed and the change of playing from C team to JV to automatically to varsity. It's a different game, it's a different beast. And you can clearly see that the teams are working on this. The kick is away. Low line drive to the 10 yard line.

Here comes Spendlove to run it up. He got around to the 15 balls loose again and Rodgers just falling that again. I think they did. You have got to be joking me. It was very.

It was a very awkward pickup originally. The ball was on the ground for a few seconds. He never got his footing correct and as he picked it up, he was just easily stripped of the ball and the ball was back on the canvas. It's insane ending to this game for East Valley. Very unfortunate.

Everything wrong is going wrong for them. No kidding, just brutal. So, yeah, Rogers is gonna take it over again on about the 20 yard line of East Valley. I don't think we saw this game end in this way to Hante. I didn't, honestly.

This was. I wasn't expecting too many more scores to end this game given how much time was left on the clock. But East Valley just continues with the turnovers and giving Roger Chance out the chance to put some good points on the board. They're just pumping out points at this point is what's happening. That's right.

So Rogers back on the field this time from what? The 14 yard line of East Valley. Handoff of the middle. Griffey down inside the 10 toward the 5. Man, oh man.

Rogers is inching in closer to be able to put some more points on the board for this one. And I know this is not the way East Valley wanted this game to end for them. It's kind of matching all the colors down here. We have Rogers colors, then you have pink and purple. Yeah. Other teams starting to roll up in their blue jerseys. That's those Mead Panthers, Lewis and Clark.

And we'll just do it again. Deontay seems easy enough. Although man, if I were East Valley's coaches, I'd be ticked off about those last two touchdowns. Yeah, East Valley seem to just give up towards the end of the this one. And that's really uncommon for the because in The East Valley vs West Valley game they fought all the way to the last second.

But this is the kind of things that happen when your leader goes out. When your leader is down. There's always. There has to be a second one who steps up and is able to help your team continue to roll and act like there's not a drop, drop off between what just happened and now. It's a huge, completely different team right now.

You have to imagine as long as East Valley keeps it on the ground and the Rogers Pirates will put it away. But then right before halftime we finally saw a big arm with no time left on the clock From Aaron Kinsey surveys the defense. One deep safety back for East Valley in their white uniforms. Kinsey takes it at the top of the letter, throws it deep down the field. He's got a man in coverage. Pass caught. Oh man, you gotta be kidding me. Warwick handed to the 105 touchdown with no time left on the clock.

It was a Hail Mary. Warwick went up and made the catch his second of the day and Rodgers is going to lead going into halftime. Wow. You can hear how surprised we were, Dante. I started calling that play and I was like, oh, let's just wind the clock down.

That's the end of the half. Yeah, a few seconds left in the half. We were just kind of just thinking maybe they should just be methodical about it, go ahead and allow themselves to not have a lead going into the halftime. They played a stellar first half. Just go ahead, make a few corrections, come out and take over.

However, they took a shot downfield with that nice Hail Mary and was able to complete it for a touchdown. That's no better way to go into halftime with momentum than that. Really just amazing. And then the second half was all Rogers. They rattled off three more touchdowns, one to Warwick and then two rushing touchdowns from Griffey.

3 FM. Your final score. In case you're just tuning in, the Rogers Pirates pick up their second win of the year, a pretty big one against the East Valley nights 35 to 10. Although Dehante that was a closer game than the score indicates, those two late touchdowns kind of put it out of perspective. Yeah, those two very late touchdowns made the game seem like it was a far fetched blowout.

However, throughout the duration of the beginning of the first half and everything was a pretty close game even heading into halftime. It's just that Rogers tended tend to put it together towards the second half and did a great job to extend their lead and allow East Valley to stay out the end zone. It was 14 to 10 at halftime and then Rodgers rattled off three touchdowns in the second half to go ahead and secure it. Coming up next, our next broadcast is another Thursday night game.
